Timing is All 251

Meryl Streep took best actress award at the Golden Globes for The Iron Lady. There has been much media speculation about the motivation for Alex Salmond choosing Autumn 2014 for the independence referendum, largely centring around Bannockburn. Personally I can see the referendum coinciding brilliantly with Margaret Thatcher’s state funeral in London. That really would clinch it.

One of my memories about the whore that came to be the founding fucking mother of modern UK, is watching the old sow before the elections, carrying two carrier bags of shopping, she claimed both were bought with five pounds the smaller one of the two she claimed to be the fault of the inflation and unrestrained spending, and the larger one with pre-inflation prices.
    ,
After the elections, watching her on my rental TV she was advising me to go shopping after my meals so that I don’t spend too much! so much for the fucking inflation she was trying to beat.
    ,
I do hate that whore and what she stands for with a vengeance.

    Mary,
Gonzo is whole new ball game, and at times more productive than any other kind of news gathering.

What about Gove the pervert and the f’ing Jubilee yacht shit? No schools, homeless sleeping in the door ways, and working families reliant on food charities, because they cannot feed themselves, but Gove can find 60 million for a yacht, getting the priorities right.

FAO please don’t shout about Sorcha Faal aka David Booth the Most Obvious Government Disinformation Shill, the reason for posting is to highlight the desperation of the ziowankers in their rush for war

Italian Cruise Ship Reported Torpedoed By Iranian Submarine
By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers
    ,
A “flash” message received in the Kremlin today from the Northern Fleet Command, whose Russian Navy flotilla is in the Mediterranean Sea after having just left their Syrian port of call, reports that the anti-submarine ship Admiral Chabanenko has detected the firing of a torpedo having the “unmistakable signature” of one fired from a kilo-class submarine near Isola del Giglio a popular vacation island about 18 miles off the Italian Tuscan coast.

    ,
So nukes aside, 911 aside, now the submarines have torpedoed the Lusitania all over again too.

    The Iran wot done it theme going main stream;

Thai authorities were caught off-guard by the U.S. announcement, hastily revealing they had detained a Swedish national of Lebanese origin with alleged links to pro-Iranian Hezbollah militants and that intelligence indicated a plot could be carried out between Jan. 13 and 15. The defense minister said the news was not released earlier to avoid panic that could hurt Thailand’s tourism industry, one of the country’s biggest revenue earners.
    ,
    However;
A foreign suspect with alleged links to Hezbollah militants led Thai police Monday to a warehouse filled with materials commonly used to make bombs, as Thailand and the U.S. disagreed over whether Bangkok was the target of a terror plot.

I had her down for going just as the Olympics was opening, and see how the greatest union in the history of the universe ever, would cope with a games and a state funeral at the same time?

It would at least mean there would be a bit of a choice on the telly…

    Tris,

The opening ceremony consisting of re-enacted scenes from ‘Carry On Up The Kyber’ while a deceased Thatcher is lowered from a floating replica of the Belgrano onto the centre of the pitch encircled by a bunch of kilt-wearing Scots who, in unison, proceed to urinate on her from a great height.

I hope we can work in a bearded Flatley dressed in a faeces-smeared blanket doing a mocking Riverdance. A fitting wake for the bitch from hell. “Poof! There’s puff for ye, begor, and planxty of it, all abound me breadth!”

I like this blog,as a rule.I’ve been a regular since the beginning and value most of our family of mostly wise commentators. However i feel i must speak out and please believe me i was/am no lover of Thatcher-the very opposite in fact.I realise i might get pelters for what i’m about to say but i feel it worth saying.I know Thatcher is an highly emotive topic but i can’t quite believe some of the statements on this post.In places it reminds me of a bad Grauniad CiF article full of rage and hatred. This blog is,or ought be,better than this.Thatcher,to me,was an horrific politician with little,or no,empathy and compassion. In opposition to that the way forward with one’s enemies is not to become as hate-filled as them but rather to win by the strength of argument and an exemplary position. Some comments here are full of hate and yes i understand why that hate is there. But do we really need to be so hateful to a demented old woman as she aproaches her end? Are we not better than that?Surely?Or do we become just as hate-filled and compassionless as all those insane right wing nutjobs that populate so much of the datasphere? This blog is better than that.Don’t let’s succumb to their level of inhumanity.
    .
“The best lack all conviction while the worst are full of passionate intensity…” ???
    .
    Come on folks…we’re better than that,don’t let’s become as hate-filled as them,please.

Yesterday’s Education Questions in the HoC. Perhaps McDonalds or Marks and Spencer could sponsor the yacht. What name could we give it? Costa Lotofmoney? How preposterous. It annoys me greatly to see that small opportunist Sarah Teather sitting alongside Poison Gove.
    .
Stephen Twigg (Liverpool, West Derby) (Lab/Co-op): How many primary school places could the Government fund with the money that the Secretary of State has proposed be spent on a new royal yacht? Does he regret his rushed decision in 2010 to abolish the Labour Government’s primary capital programme and would it not have been better to have reformed that programme to focus on the serious shortage of primary school places?
    .
Michael Gove: The hon. Gentleman should have been careful to look at the charts and to navigate out of rocky waters, because the letter that I wrote to the Prime Minister on 12 September clearly stated that I agreed, of course, that the project for a royal yacht— the Future Ship Project 21st Century— was one where no public funding should be provided. I am afraid that the hon. Gentleman has once again allowed himself to be misled. I support that project because it would provide opportunities for disadvantaged youth from across the country to learn new skills and to take part in exciting new adventures. It is typical of the unreformed elements—
    .
Mr Speaker: Order. I am extremely grateful to be educated by the Secretary of State, but I do not think that the yacht will provide additional primary school places, which is the subject matter under discussion.
    .
Stephen Twigg: Indeed, Mr Speaker. The Government have found £1.2 billion for new places, half of which is being spent on new free schools. Although 90% of the extra places that are needed by 2015 are in primary schools, the majority of the new free schools announced late last year are secondary schools. Instead of his dogmatic and ideological preference for his pet project, would it not make more sense to allocate the whole of that £1.2 billion to meet the serious shortfall in primary school places?
    .
Speaker Bercow seems to have the measure of Gove.

Strange that the Anerican electoral system has not thrown up a woman President yet. In the meantime Ron Paul is the man.

Voters Choice: Ron Paul or Bibi Netanyahu

    By William A. Cook

January 16, 2012 “Information Clearing House”

    .
A curious glance at the current crop of presidential candidates makes it clear that Ron Paul stands alone when it comes to the issue of US engagement in foreign wars. He stands with George Washington against foreign entanglements while the rest of the candidates stand with Teddy Roosevelt and the attempted creation of America ‘s first empire one hundred and twelve years ago. Mark Twain responded to that effort by creating the Anti-imperialist society while he caustically satirized the effort in his depiction of the massacre of the Moros in the Philippines . Now we have more massacres, using drones instead of canons, on equally hapless civilians who are caught unawares or hiding from the wrath of America ‘s righteousness as we drive to bring virtue to a primitive world.
    .
Today America has an estimated 700 military installations in about 140 nations around the world; its bases surround Iran as does its nuclear capability, and it is engaged in executive “wars” in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Palestine. All of this while carrying a debt that exceeds thirteen trillion dollars, cutting budgets in education, medical care and social security, and retaining a Pentagon budget that exceeds that of the 16 declared developed nations combined. And to top it all off, we are considering armed aggression against Iran that could plunge America into the biggest war since WW II. Why?

Ref my comment on the clearing of Parliament Square, headlined on the ZBC website, I omitted to say that the Act they are using effectively removes the concept of universal jurisdiction from our statutes. By the time the DPP is involved, a Pinochet, an Almog, a Livny or an Olmert is up and away.

    .
Summary of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act (Orwell lives)
    ,
The Bill covers five distinct policy areas: police accountability and governance; alcohol licensing; the regulation of protests around Parliament Square; misuse of drugs; and the issue of arrest warrants in respect of private prosecutions for universal jurisdiction offences.
    .
    Key areas
    .
replaces police authorities with directly elected Police and Crime Commissioners, with the aim of improving police accountability
    .
amends and supplements the Licensing Act 2003 with the intention of ‘rebalancing’ it in favour of local authorities, the police and local communities
    .
sets out a new framework for regulating protests around Parliament Square. Relevant sections of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 would be repealed and the police would be given new powers to prevent encampments and the use of amplified noise equipment
    .
enables the Home Secretary to temporarily ban drugs for up to a year, and removes the statutory requirement for the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs to include members with experience in specified activities
    .
introduces a new requirement for private prosecutors to obtain the consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions prior to the issue of an arrest warrant for ‘universal jurisdiction’ offences such as war crimes or torture. The Government’s aim in introducing this change is to prevent the courts being used for political purposes.

Maryl Streep is a superb actress, someone for whom I have the highest praise. Not only can she act but she can do accents (Michael Caine does a Cockney accent in all his films). I’ve heard her do the South African/Danish accent (Out of Africa), a Southern Irish accent (Ironweed, and another film I forget), English (The French Lieutenant’s Woman), Polish (Sophie’s Choice) and from the clips I’ve seen of Margaret Thatcher (Iron Lady) it is hard to distinguish her portrayal from that of Thatcher herself. Such talent is extremely rare!

“Court rules Abu Qatada cannot be deported”
    .
Radical cleric Abu Qatada cannot be sent back to Jordan while “there remains a real risk that evidence obtained by torture will be used against him”, judges ruled today.
    .
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled there would be a breach of his right to a fair trial “given the real risk of the admission of evidence obtained by torture at his retrial”.

It is the first time that the Strasbourg-based court has found that an expulsion would be in violation of Article 6, the right to a fair trial.

  • CapnAndy.

    Look folks.
Maybe we all hate Thatcher, but the thing about hate is that most of the time the person you hate either doesn’t know or doesn’t care. The best revenge with regard to Thatcher would be to forget about her, although admittedly I don’t think we’re going to be allowed to do that.

  • nuid

I hate Thatcher. I also hate (e.g.) Dick Cheney. The difference between me and them is that I would not lift my hand against either of them, nor, given the power and/or opportunity, order others to lift theirs. However, I’ll make as many cracks about them on forums as I like. Whenever I like. (unless Jon deletes me, of course.) I don’t expect them to know or care. Only people with compassion know the meaning of ‘caring’.

Stay in your seat. The full circle of Thatcherism from her first decision to undo the collars of the bankers leads to our current bankruptcy is good for us. 70 years ago we at war struggling for survival and we should remember with humility that we can return to that condition again. Since the majority now see Mrs T’s mistakes what is much more important today is to put the collars back on the bankers. I still naively believe that if we did that we could turn this ship around, and even avoid the next world war of Islam’s revenge.
We are united against our government and its partner and its opposition, but how do we stop their addictive gambling in time?

They were not “mistakes”!!!, they were very carefully planned and excuted by some very evil people, things were meant to be the way they wanted things to be. They knew what they were doing, we are all just pawns on a big chessboard, puppets on strings.

Your high self esteem is commendable, alas the reality is we the 99 percentiles don’t even come into the equation, Puppets, and strings have some market value, pawns can be recycled if sent to China and come back as lighters and lava lamps and shit. We the bothersome 99 percentiles are only food wasters in the way of progress of bankers with our moaning sand whining asking for justice, fairness, and all the crap about legality regulations and outdated useless stuff.

The misanthropic bastards running the show cannot stand anyone with a normal functioning balder and a penis that works as per specifications and is not in need of all manner of pills, potions, and injections come the hours of privacy with the nice looking bit of totty.
    ,
The evil bastards ideal world would be bankers sitting in their castles and selling each other risk free equity and financial products and only activate the 99 percentiles to go to fields to work and make good the losses, and then return to the stables they were sent out from and switched off until the next emergency arises.

Mrs Thatcher may have made changes you don’t like in the UK, but she didn’t attack the place with helicopters and chemical weapons. Thatcher is not in the same category as the fascist shithead criminals Blair and Cameron.
