Shock Horror - Gordon Brown Says Something True
Amid all the pomp and hyperbole of the G20 summit, Gordon Brown said something that was actually true.
"Today's decisions, of course, will not immediately solve the crisis."
Unfortunately that statement is just as true if you omit the word "immediately".
The outcome of the summit was exactly as I predicted, with everyone claiming they had "won". I can leave Brown his ten days of reflected glory. As the economy plunges again thereafter he will look pretty silly.
Brown has told the truth before, when he said his economic policies had "Brought an end to boom and bust." He was telling the truth about the boom bit.

Thank you for covering this correctly. I was astonished at how little has been said about this incident.
A shout went out this morning for activists to meet back at the Bank junction today to mark a memorial for the dead man. And guess what? The police kettled us again! As viciously as yesterday, coralling us in and denying us toilets, food, water for hours on end, again. And this was when we were all marking the death of a protestor in increasingly suspicious sounding circumstances.
Please keep this story running.

A fine example of the technique known as "being economical with the truth". Mark Twain may have inadvertently kicked off that euphemism when he wrote (tongue in cheek as usual) "Truth is our most valuable commodity. Let us economize it!"
I was strongly reminded of the classic advertising formula, "No other leading cold remedy is more effective" (meaning "none of the others have any effect either).

For myself I don`t like using bad language but on this occasion it is a matter of... The exception to the rule...
