You could not decry the Labour Party more determinedly than myself. The answer as to why I still pay my subs is always “which party should I join” They’re still the best of a bad bunch, how much longer I can continue with that excuse is always up for debate.
I think that the truth is we are entering an epoch with the world being turned upside down once again. Am I up for that, hell yes.

As this is your special club, do I need to apply for membership, or do you have an open door policy.
I have come across some moderators decisions in my time, but this takes the biscuit. It’s a bit like the stories we’ve heard of a mad aunty in an aristocratic family, banished from sight in the bowels of the west wing of some country house.

      Stand strong old friend…_

Digger you would be most welcome.
Although I have not been for three years, I have been a caver for fifty years.
Part of that is cave digging, I was very much in to that side of things, very hard and filthy work for no pay.
Fantastic for team work, great for banter and making friends.
Sometimes we even made fresh cave.
As an aside, the Carbon dioxide is very much elevated in caves but especially so, digging.

As this is a thread for idiopolitical musings, I will vary the subject even more; and add my queries on the Liverpool FC victory parade incidents.

The police stated that the Ford Galaxy (the vehicle seen in video footage driving randomly at the crowds in the street) entered the cordoned off area behind an ambulance which had been allowed through the barriers by police because it was going to attend to a member of the public who was having a suspected heart attack.

If that is true, and the police opened the barriers for an emergency vehicle, why did they allow the Galaxy through as well? Did they know the driver? Did he give some special sign?

If I were an extreme conspiracy theorist, I might suggest that this was the Establishment/Security Services payback to Liverpool supporters for all the humiliation and embarrassment caused by the most recent inquiries into Hillsborough. A “lets ruin their special day” event.

police have been granted extra time to hold and question the suspect, they want to find his motive.

Thanks Michael. That is most intriguing. Snipers on rooftops for a football club open top bus parade?

I wonder if the same happened for the Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Spurs equivalents?

I see the culprit in the Liverpool parade car horror is described as an ‘ex-serviceman’.

And the attempted murder, and driving under the influence of drugs, charges seem to have been dropped.

I wonder if this would have happened if the car driver had been from Pakistan/Iran and was shouting anti-Zionist insults from his car?

I thought that vehicle, was a family vehicle.
They say he has three children, yet he ran over nearly 80 people, including children.
                        Very hard to believe.

Yes, it was a Ford Galaxy – which is quiet and expensive vehicle.

The man’s name appears to be Paul Doyle, according to the media; and he works in IT and cybersecurity. Or at least he did until this Monday’s events.

Anyone who works in “cybersecurity” may be able to negotiate with the police, many of whom also work in “cybersecurity” these days.

I would like to point something out.

Several major countries in Europe have high “Elite” backing for Ukraine, including money and weapon systems.

I am thinking mainly of Germany, France and the United kingdom.

In each of those main countries, the main opposition parties are against funding Ukraine, these opposition parties have claimed they want to get along better with Russia, and have a shared prosperous future.
I wonder if these facts have any slant on elections in Europe being deemed under Russian influence, if there is a strong chance that a more Russia friendly party is likely to win, consequently people being charged with crimes and refused the chance to win?
                              Is this Democracy?

In a speech on Thursday, Lord Hermer criticised politicians who argue the United Kingdom should abandon
“the constraints of international law in favour of raw power”.

He said similar claims had been made by legal theorists in Germany in the years before the Nazis came to power.

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch accused him of “calling people who disagree with him Nazis,”
and urged the prime minister to sack him.

Is the Labour government starting to collapse?
Sir keir Starmer, is now of the belief that Reform are the main opposition, yet they only have five members of parliament.

Sir Keir is the least popular Prime minister – ever.

I think it very unlikely that the government would collapse.

They have a very large majority, and as long as Starmer implements policies which are not too far to the political right, then he will keep most of his MPs on board.

Even when he does go for unpopular policies, such as withdrawing Winter Fuel Payments for more wealthy pensioners, he seems quite happy to go back on the initial threshold; despite shouts of “U-turn” from the opposition.

As Michael Foot used to say, he is not averse to twisting in the wind.

Type 23 Frigate, HMS Lancaster has for the second time, recently, taken on maritime drug-runners.

It was announced in February 2025 that HMS Lancaster had deployed the Peregrine UAV for the first time, during anti-narcotics operations in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Oman.

Interesting that they have Royal Marine snipers on board.

The government is not about to collapse. Reform are not about to go in to a coalition government, unless it is with Labour.

If all mp’s not under the Labour whip banded together they couldn’t form a government.

It’s a Labour government until the cows come home, though not necessarily under the leadership of Comrade Starmer. That does give dissenting Labour MP’s a sizeable stick to force Starmer to give concessions. His naked ambition means he will be only too willing to throw a bit of patronage around to hold on to No.10…_

at the last General Election in 2024 the Conservative party and the Reform Party, between them garnered 38% of votes cast
The Labour Party garnered 33.7% of votes cast.
Since then the labour government have become unpopular.
If there was an election next year, I think they would struggle to hold on with the present post-holders still in place.

But there will not be an election next year, except in the fantasy minds of Reform.
The rules are such that the next GE will be in 2029.

Someone could theoretically try a no confidence vote against Starmer, but that would be political suicide.

Sorry, but the Tories lost. And just like in 1997 they will have to serve their time in opposition, despite the best efforts of the BBC.

The BBC destroyed Boris Johnson because he had a birthday cake party in the garden of his residence, with his work people.
His new bird “wife” had made him a birthday cake and brought it downstairs, was he supposed to tell her to fuck off, don’t you know there is a pandemic about.
Yet for this the BBC removed him.

Politics is currently a soap opera like EastEnders, Neighbours, The Archers, Coronation street, Crossroads etc. The media and politicians run with the current hot topic whilst at the same time presenting a bunch of new hot topics for consideration, some of which will stick and some not.
Prime ministers are “regenerated” like Dr.Who.
