The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?
Tim…
The PED going off when they (the paramedics) were leaving the house…maybe the clue to that mystery.
It maybe that he had an Xray machine in that area of his house.
A PED may go off then.
Berezovski would appear to be no angel.
And Litvinenko also doesn’t appear to have been an angel either.
It is funny how “they” always go running …and shout “foul” when it is “they” who are suffering.
Litvinenko…the journalists and activist !
They often forget to say former KGB and FSB officer.
Not the most reliable of men that MI6 could have “recruited”, but I guess “ya gotta work with what ya get thrown”.
The “Public Relations Officer” for the “Berezovski camp” (no doubt a relationship that began “way back when” in Mother Russia) looks to have backed the wrong horse…and paid the price.
Of course Berezovski would have been “vocal” at the Litvinenko Inquest (1st May 2013), but he never got there.
Just “one set of bad people, trying to DO for another set of bad people”.
Organised crime ….at the “high end”.
Of course not quite as big as The Bush family. But then again I guess some “Crime Families” have more to work with than others.
James
Berezovski sponsored the chechnian terrorists and he ordered killings and terror attacks.
He was no angel.
Litvinenko was a member of the FSB assassination teams.
He was no angel.

Q
29 Mar, 2013 – 1:02 am – i’m not convinced the Mahmoud_al-Mabhouh killing fits the bill because it would be determined by the small window of time he would be be in Dubai. Unless of course he was lured there by the very people who intended to kill him. I don’t think we’ve been told why he was there have we? All very casual and slick but must have involved a lot of planning and intelligence. They must have been able to tap into his movements and have the duplicate passports and kit all prepared. This wasn’t a single killer arranging it all himself but a coordinated team dressed as tennis players, shadowing him in the lift and elsewhere. They had to be booked in, able to locate and access his room, kill without obvious signs, and all slip away to Iran and elsewhere, the travel arrangements pre planned. It shows the lengths to which Mossad will go, which makes the Chevaline incident childs play. They obviously didn’t want to be uncovered and suffered a serious loss of face when it was. As to a date chosen to tell a retrebution story, I’m not convinced. This one was intended to be interpreted as a “natural event”. I’m thinking more about the major high profile ones.
I tend to agree James
29 Mar, 2013 – 8:39 am. No doubt these are the arguments applied at inter governmental level. “Oh come on old chap, you create too much of a fuss and we’ll pull the plug on all your dirty linen. He had it coming didn’t he. It’s in both our interests to play this thing down. Best not frighten the horses.”
Home and Foreign Secretaries prefer to be kept UN-informed. To know is to be accountable and have to explain or lie, neither of which are easy. So we have the charade of democratic accountability, when in fact the reality is as long as the waves can be sensibly managed, the SS can do pretty much as they please.

Wait a minute ! Monash University !
Isn’t that where Zygier went to study ? And to brag ?
But think of these:
The first World Trade Center Bombing on the 26th February, 1993 was on the 13th anniversary of the 1980 resumption of full diplomatic relations Egypt and Israel. The bombing although killing a number of people and severely damaging the building, failed to collapse it a lesson subsequently well learned. The role of the FBI and CIA in this case is disturbing to say the least. The FBI KNEW of the plot and actually supplied the explosives despite protest from their “source”!
FROM WIKIPEDIA – “In the course of the trial it was revealed that the FBI had an informant, a former Egyptian army officer named Emad Salem. Salem claims to have informed the FBI of the plot to bomb the towers as early as February 6, 1992. Salem’s role as informant allowed the FBI to quickly pinpoint the conspirators out of hundreds of possible suspects.
Salem, initially believing that this was to be a sting operation, claimed that the FBI’s original plan was for Salem to supply the conspirators with a harmless powder instead of actual explosive to build their bomb, but that the FBI chose to use him for other purposes instead. He secretly recorded hundreds of hours of telephone conversations with his FBI handlers.[27]”
“The victims of the 1993 World Trade Center bombings sued the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for damages. A decision was handed down in 2006, assigning liability for the bombings to the Port Authority. The decision declared that the agency was 68 percent responsible for the bombing, and the terrorists bore only 32 percent of the responsibility. In January 2008, the Port Authority asked a five-judge panel of the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan to throw out the decision, describing the jury’s verdict as “bizarre”.[36] On April 29, 2008, a New York State Appeals Court unanimously upheld the jury’s verdict. Under New York law once a defendant is more than 50 percent at fault, he/she/it can be held fully financially liable.[37]”
So we may ask to what extent were the individuals involved unwittingly acting in accordance with Western/Israeli intelligence designs, presumably to implicate Iraq in terrorist atrocities? Rather like 9/11 incident, a question mark hangs over some of the conspirators either returning to thier country of origin or disappearing. One such was Iraqi bomb maker Abdul Rahman Yasin, who helped assemble the complex 1,310-pound (590 kg) bomb.
WIKI AGAIN – “Among the documents released by the Pentagon was a captured audio file of Saddam Hussein speculating that the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center had been carried out by Israel or American intelligence, or perhaps a Saudi or Egyptian faction. Saddam said that he did not trust the bomber Yasin, who was in Iraqi custody, because his testimony was too “organized.” The Pentagon study found that Yasin “was a prisoner, and not a guest, in Iraq.”[34]
If we were asked to identify world changing terrorist events we would probably list beside 9/11 the Madrid and London train bombings, ostensibly both carried out by Muslim fundamentalists. The issue is not really whether they were minded and had the means to do so, but whether the SIS knew and either failed to intervene or actively assisted. As BB I think has suggested, it is possible there are rogue elements within the services not even conforming to their own organisation’s brief. The duplication of the 9/11 phenomenon of the “terrorist exercise” happening at the self same time is chilling. In 9/11 this was claimed malignly by Rumsfeld to have assisted the response when quite clearly it had the exact opposite effect. It certainly didn’t help in the London event either.
So in the case of 9/11, in which the evidence is now overwhelming that it was indeed a “black ops” job to provide “Pearl Harbour moment” to allow two foreign invasions and increased executive power at home, it happened on the fifteenth anniversary of the meeting between President Mubarak and Israel premier Peres in 1986.
“Peres was received in Alexandria with the full dress ceremony that protocol accords a visiting head of government. But observers noted that it was far from the warm welcome given Premier Menachem Begin on his first trip to Egypt following the signing of the Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty in 1979.
Peres has long entertained hopes that once the Taba dispute is on the way to settlement, normalization of relations between Israel and Egypt would proceed rapidly under the peace treaty terms. He hopes for an end to the “cold peace” which has prevailed since Egypt withdrew its Ambassador from Tel Aviv after Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982.
But Peres, who will hand over his office to Likud leader Shamir next month under the Labor-Likud rotation of power agreement, will be constrained by the coalition guidelines in his talks with Mubarak. He has already rejected self-determination for the Palestinians and is expected to state unequivocally Israel’s position on terrorism. “http://archive.jta.org/article/1986/09/12/3004961/peres-and-mubarak-hold-summit-meeting
As for the – Madrid Train Bombings on 11th March 2004 it happened on the 26th Anniversary of the 1978 Al Fatah hijack an Israeli bus and massacre: At least 37 are killed and more than 70 are wounded. It prompts Israel’s Operation Litani.
WIKI – “Operation Litani by Israel) was an invasion of Lebanon up to the Litani River, carried out by the Israel Defense Forces in 1978 in response to the Coastal Road Massacre. The conflict resulted in the deaths of 1,100–2,000 Lebanese and Palestinians, 20 Israelis, the internal displacement of 100,000 to 250,000 people in Lebanon, and the PLO forces retreating north of the Litani River. It led to the creation of the UNIFIL peacekeeping force and an almost complete Israeli withdrawal.”
@ Tim V 29 Mar, 2013 – 3:32 pm
“The first World Trade Center Bombing on the 26th February, 1993”
That’s news to me. Amazing that details like this are lost to people unless they follow every subsequent report, sometimes in trial testimony and decisions and appeals years later.
All I recall of that event is some crazy terrorists tried to bomb one of the towers to topple it sideways, failed because they parked in the wrong spot, and were caught because one of them tried to get the deposit back on a rental van.
The generally accepted narrative is set quickly after big events and only a few people are devoted enough to follow along and sort out the discrepancies.
Meanwhile London Tube Bombings on the 7th July 2005 are on the 25th Anniversary of
Institution of Sharia in Iran and The Safra massacre in Lebanon in 1980. The latter with Israeli involvement saw the disbandment of a private army.
WIKI – “The Phalangist forces launched a surprise attack on the Tigers, a 500-man militia that was the armed force of the National Liberal Party of former Lebanese President Camille Chamoun. The attack was supposed to be conducted at around 4:00 a.m., but in order to spare the life of Camille’s son and commander of the Tigers Dany Chamoun, the attack was postponed to 10:00 a.m. to make sure that Dany left for Fakra. The attack claimed the lives of roughly 83 people.
Prior to the attack, Camille Chamoun decided to disarm the militia in order to avoid further bloodshed from both the Phalangists and the Tigers.”
Perhaps more strikingly the Norway Breivik Massacre on 22nd July 2011, directed against essentially left wing organisation that held strident anti-Israili views happened on the 65th Anniversary of the King David hotel attack in 1946. It also happened to be the 69th Anniversary of the start of 300 000 Warsaw Ghetto Jews being sent to Treblinka extermination Camp.
Now finally as to our Chevaline Massacre IT JUST HAPPENS TO BE THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY TO THE DAY of the 1972 – Munich Massacre, perhaps one of the most poignant and humiliating in Israel’s history.
WIKI – “Golda Meir and the Israeli Defense Committee secretly authorized the Mossad to track down and kill those allegedly responsible for the Munich massacre,[59] a claim which was disputed by Zvi Zamir, who described the mission as “putting an end to the type of terror that was perpetrated” (in Europe).[60] To this end the Mossad set up a number of special teams to locate and kill these fedayeen, aided by the agency’s stations in Europe.[52]
In a February 2006 interview,[60] former Mossad chief Zvi Zamir answered direct questions:
Was there no element of vengeance in the decision to take action against the terrorists?
“No. We were not engaged in vengeance. We are accused of having been guided by a desire for vengeance. That is nonsense. What we did was to concretely prevent in the future. We acted against those who thought that they would continue to perpetrate acts of terror. I am not saying that those who were involved in Munich were not marked for death. They definitely deserved to die. But we were not dealing with the past; we concentrated on the future.”
Did you not receive a directive from Golda Meir along the lines of ‘take revenge on those responsible for Munich?
“Golda abhorred the necessity that was imposed on us to carry out the operations. Golda never told me to ‘take revenge on those who were responsible for Munich.’ No one told me that.”[60]
The Israeli mission later became known as Operation Wrath of God or Mivtza Za’am Ha’El.[25] Reeve quotes General Aharon Yariv — who, he writes, was the general overseer of the operation — as stating that after Munich the Israeli government felt it had no alternative but to exact justice.
We had no choice. We had to make them stop, and there was no other way … we are not very proud about it. But it was a question of sheer necessity. We went back to the old biblical rule of an eye for an eye … I approach these problems not from a moral point of view, but, hard as it may sound, from a cost-benefit point of view. If I’m very hard-headed, I can say, what is the political benefit in killing this person? Will it bring us nearer to peace? Will it bring us nearer to an understanding with the Palestinians or not? In most cases I don’t think it will. But in the case of Black September we had no other choice and it worked. Is it morally acceptable? One can debate that question. Is it politically vital? It was.[25]
Benny Morris writes that a target list was created using information from “turned” PLO personnel and friendly European intelligence services. Once completed, a wave of assassinations of suspected Black September operatives began across Europe.”
What better explicit rationale would there be for Chevaline from the Israeli standpoint? I think I rest my case (sorry it has taken so many posts)
@Tim V: From the wiki article:
“According to a Hamas statement, Mabhouh was involved in the 1989 abduction and killing of the Israeli soldiers Avi Sasportas and Ilan Sa’adon. In a video taped two weeks before his death and broadcast on Al Jazeera in early February 2010, Mabhouh admitted his involvement in this event, saying he had disguised himself as an Orthodox Jew. In May 1989, a failed attempt was made to arrest him for his involvement in the murder of the two Israeli soldiers and he subsequently left the Gaza Strip; his home in Gaza was demolished by Israel in 1989 as retribution for the attack.
According to a report in The Palestine Chronicle, al-Mabhouh had survived two assassination attempts; the first was a car bombing; the second took place in Beirut in 2009 and involved the use of poison which rendered him unconscious for 30 hours.
Al-Mabhouh was believed by Israel to have been involved in smuggling weapons and explosives into Gaza. He spent most of 2003 in an Egyptian jail. At the time of his death, Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was wanted by the Israeli, Egyptian and Jordanian governments, and living in Syria.
Just before his killing, Mabhouh was alleged to have played a key role in forging secret connections between the Hamas government in Gaza and the Al-Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards in Iran.”
It’s hard to say if revenge was served cold, or if it was a new offence that took him down.
“After al-Mabhouh’s death the United Arab Emirates requested that the U.S. assist it in tracking down “cardholder details and related information for credit cards reportedly issued by a U.S. bank to several suspects.” The U.S. denied receiving the request. A cable sent from the U.S. consulate in Dubai, released by Wikileaks, however, showed that the U.S. declined the UAE request.”
Some similarities to Chevaline? Saad al-Hilli had that violent confrontation in Iraq that has been explained away. Eric Maillaud recently complained about the lack of co-operation from the U.S. And of course, there are the ever-present multiple passports for all and sundry.
You will notice “Operation Wrath of God or Mivtza Za’am Ha’El.” Now tell me it is wholly co-incidental that the Chevaline killings took place in the “Combe d’Ire.

Q @ 11.58 from your Lillihammer Wiki quote “Undercover agents had been sent by Israel as part of Operation Wrath of God to assassinate Ali Hassan Salameh, the head of Force 17 and an operative of the BLACK SEPTEMBER Organization, a Palestinian militant group that carried out the 1972 Munich Massacre.”
It may be worth noting not only that it was Combe d’Ire, but it, if I remember rightly, was also on the way to BLACK MOUNTAIN? Date 5th SEPTEMBER obviously.
Clearly Saad and Zaid were both young children at the time. So task for BB, are there any connections here with Black September members?
And then regarding the exact 40th Anniversary of the Munich Olympic Killings perhaps its worth noting the great significance placed on 40 by Hebrew iconography.
“The number forty has long been universally recognized as an important number, both on account of the frequency of its occurrence, and the uniformity of its association with a period of probation, trial, and chastisement – (not judgment, like the number 9, which stands in connection with the punishment of enemies, but the chastisement of sons, and of a covenant people).” http://www.biblestudy.org/bibleref/meaning-of-numbers-in-bible/40.html

If there was a Lebanon connection earler for Suhaila is not confirmed, but a quiet likely possibility.
This might be of interest:
“From the middle of the 1970-ties to the end of the Saddam regime in 2003, Iraqi intelligence had more than one hundred agents to its disposal on Swedish ground. Their main task was refugee espionage on their compatriots. But even murdering by Iraqi agents took place in Sweden.”

The dentist school in Stockholm was flooded with iraqi students in the late eighties and early nineties. It was a mix of real refugees, as well as students loyal to the Saddam-regime. I have friends who attended the courses, they described tensions and conficts between the groups. And the pro-Saddam students was supervising and register the refugees.
It´s pretty sure that Iqbal was on the pro-Saddam side, as she later (?) on also studied dentistery in Baghdad.
We don´t know very much of Suhailas husband. Just that he was well-dressed, and died from kidney-disease a few years ago.

“Lebanese journalist Zeinab Al-Saffar was perhaps the hardest to place.
“I am Hezbollah and proud of it,” said Al-Saffar introducing herself to the public. Anchor for Al-Manar TV, the media arm of Hezbollah, Al-Saffar described herself as “the female face of Lebanese resistance.” Hezbollah gives her a “line of thought – an ideology, which keeps us strong – a belief,” she said.
This belief has been strengthened by struggle. During the July 2006 Lebanese war, her home and office in Lebanon were both destroyed, and she narrowly escaped death while reporting under fire.
The building of Al-Manar TV collapsed, in fact, only ten minutes after she got out.
“Not being allowed to voice [one’s beliefs through] the media is also a form of terror,” Al-Saffar said.”
Perhaps Zeinab or Zainab are a bit like Betty and Beth? Or were little Zeena and Zainab both named after/incorporate her heroic relation in Lebanon?

The British and French police have had their hands full with joint investigations.

It is virtually the same article word for word in all the rags. The Frenchies have obviously had great difficulty in arranging an interview with Saad? WHY?????????? The only plausible reason is that it has been blocked by the British given that the investigation was supposedly unified months ago. The Surrey Police, as we have noted many times before, been completely and uncharacteristically silent, making no appeals with family members as often happens. All they say is that they don’t believe Saad had anything to do with it. So why the inordinate delay in allowing French detectives access? It can only be that the security concerns outweigh all else and Saad has had some intensive coaching I would guess as to what he can tell them and what he can’t. All very “iffy” legally of course.
Do the French really think Saad WAS involved when their British colleagues clearly think he wasn’t? Or are they on a fishing mission to discover stuff the Brits won’t tell them? If the latter it drives a coach and horses (sorry) through the unified approach. Maybe its just another attempt to distract from French involvement? All in all, quite extraordinary.
oops! I meant of course “didn’t believe Zaid had anything to do with it” SORRY
ALSO *”Do the French really think ZAID was involved” sorry again
Interestingly, Q
30 Mar, 2013 – 8:27 pm the September 5th 2012 attack on the Gaza car (in fact two attacks) is not included in the list of killings. You will also note the emergence of DRONE attack. Not sure if this is the first example of such. Drones need sophisticated remote control. Are the Israelis using American systems or their own?
“On Tuesday evening, 5 September 2006, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) committed two extra-judicial executions in Rafah in two hours, which killed four members of the ‘Izziddin al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, and wounded 27 civilian bystanders, including five children.
According to preliminary investigations conducted by PCHR, at approximately 21:20, an IOF droned fired a missile at a civilian car (a grey Mitsubishi) that was traveling near al-Istiqama Mosque in Saddam Street in the densely-populated al-Junaina neighborhood. Two members of the ‘Izziddin al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, were traveling in the car. One of them, 28-year-old Ahmed ‘Abdul Karim ‘Aashour, was instantly killed, and the other one, 34-year-old Ahmed ‘Abdul Katim al-‘Arqan, was seriously wounded. Al-‘Arqan was evacuated to Gaza European Hospital in Khan Yunis, but he died from his wound two hours later. In addition, 26 civilian bystanders, including five children, were wounded.
Two hours later, an IOF drone fired a missile at a civilian car (a white Daewoo) that was traveling near al-Jawazat Square in Sadam Street in al-Junaina neighborhood in Rafah. Two members of the ‘Izziddin al-Qassam Brigades, who were traveling in the car, were instantly killed:
1. ‘Aa’ed ‘Abdul Qader al-Bashiti, 33; and
2. ‘Ali ‘Eissa al-Nashar, 26.
In addition, a civilian bystander was wounded.” http://electronicintifada.net/content/gaza-four-killed-and-27-injured-two-extra-judicial-executions-two-hours/2762
Still with your list Q it is noticeable the last Munich revenge killing was as late at 1992, i.e. TWENTY years after the event. The method of execution in that case was “SEVERAL SHOTS TO THE HEAD BY TWO GUNMEN”.
“Atef Bseiso Palestinian official involved in Munich Massacre Shot several times in the head at point-blank range by 2 gunmen, in his hotel (Aaron Klein’s “Striking Back”)”
That makes at least FIVE highly coincidental factors between the Munich and Chevaline cases. (Same date. 40 years. Black September/Black Mountain. Operation Wrath of God/Combe d’Ire. Point blank shots to head) Also highly likely at least two operatives.
