The UK Rebukes the UN and Bows to the Israeli Embassy over “Terrorism” Arrests of Journalists 865

There is a stunning contrast between the access given by the UK to the Israeli Embassy to influence prosecutions of anti-Genocide journalists and protestors, and the repudiation by the UK of United Nations querying such prosecutions. The UK has rebuked the UN for “outside interference”.

I cannot state enough how unusual it is for the UK to give direct access to the Israeli Embassy to the Police and the Crown Prosecution Service, in order for the Israeli government to influence the prosecution of UK citizens. This is not about extradition, in which case there may be treaty arrangements for direct contact between prosecutors. It is just not normal nor right for an Embassy to be involved with domestic prosecutions in this way.

This is one of a series of heavily redacted emails seen by the Guardian, Middle East Eye and lawyers for Palestine Action. They show the Israeli government being granted direct influence with UK police and prosecutors, to urge the prosecution of UK citizens protesting in the UK, against a genocide for which Israel stands accused at the International Court of Justice, with her leaders indicted before the International Criminal Court.

There is no British precedent for this situation and it is very much against international practice, although comparators may be found in influencing prosecution decisions in Vichy France or the Eastern European communist bloc by Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union – though there were instances of pushback even there. By contrast the UK system is openly influenced by the Israelis.

There is no reticence from the UK government in forwarding Israel influence. Although all released correspondence has been heavily redacted, it is plain that individual cases have been discussed with the Israelis, including those of Palestine Action.

The United Nations has written to the UK on the subject of its treatment both of pro-Palestinian protestors and journalists and the abuse of anti-terrorism legislation. It is almost certain that some of the same cases the UN cites are those the Israeli Embassy has been involved in. The contrast between the UK’s treatment of the Israelis and of the United Nations could scarcely be different. The Israelis are invited in, while the Starmer regime has repudiated the United Nations.

This is stunning hypocrisy. It is characterised as being in the interest of those being persecuted by the UK and Israel, to prevent “interference from international organisations” such as the United Nations. This is beyond the pen of Orwell or Kafka. You can imagine the authors sniggering as they wrote it.

But the truth is the exact opposite of the UK government line. Unlike the Israeli Embassy, the United Nations really does have a right to interfere. The Special Procedures mechanisms by which the United Nations approached the UK are a well-established part of international law, and the UK is a party to them. These are instituted by the Human Rights Council, and it has always been the position of the UK that all nations are subject to them.

In addition the UK is since 1971 a full party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which is monitored by the Human Rights Committee and to the provisions of which the UN Special Rapporteurs specifically referred in querying the UK’s actions in this matter.

So the Israel Embassy has no right to interfere, and the United Nations has a direct right to interfere; yet the UK has encouraged the illegitimate while repudiating the legitimate. This is a classic example of the way that Zionism has fundamentally poisoned public institutions in the UK, and also of the profound Zionist capture of New Labour.

Yesterday’s revelation that David Lammy has lied to parliament and the country about suspending trade talks with Israel, while UK “trade envoy” Lord Austin is actually there, should be no surprise.

The hypocrisy does not even end there. The UK has been the most vociferous of countries in weaponising the UN Special Procedures against its own designated enemies, such as Russia and China. For the UK now to repudiate these UN investigations as “interference” is precisely to adopt the position of those states it has long argued against.

I have no doubt that this has been duly noted by any dictatorship the UK may seek to criticise in future.

You will recall that I am among a number of journalists about whose detention under the Terrorism Act and the seizure of whose electronic equipment, and thus correspondence, the United Nations interrogate the UK. You can read the UK government reply in full here.

ukgovtreply

Since the UN wrote, there have been further high-profile arrests of journalists, including Sarah Wilkinson and Asa Winstanley. The basic UK response is that the UN should not interfere, but one point of detail the UK states is particularly worth noting. Detentions and confiscations such as mine under the Terrorism Act specifically do not require the police to have any “reasonable grounds of suspicion”.

What kind of state makes a point of empowering its police to act unreasonably?

But read this further from the UK government reply:

I was detained and my electronics seized under Section 7. That means the UK government is claiming that I was “concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism”. Just digest that for a moment.

I might say that nothing in my questioning – which was roughly equally split between the subjects of Wikileaks and Palestine – related in any way to the potential commission of any acts of terrorism. Is the government really pretending that, in travelling home from an Assange campaign meeting in Iceland, they truly suspected I was preparing to commit terrorism? This is ludicrous.

It has often been noticed that despite Sarah Wilkinson, Asa Winstanley, Richard Medhurst, Johanna Ross, John Laughland, Vanessa Beeley, Kit Klarenberg, Ernest Moret, Richard Barnard, Tony Greenstein and Natalie Strecker all being swept up under the Terrorism Act in a campaign against journalists this last two years, there has never been a single mention in UK mainstream media of the UK’s arrest of journalists under the Terrorism Act.

Even following the United Nations intervention to question the UK on the arrest of journalists the UK did not mention it. Even the UK’s tiny number of licensed anti-genocide voices in the mainstream media, such as Owen Jones, have never mentioned it.

Yesterday Asa Winstanley won an important legal victory at the Old Bailey where a senior judge ruled that the police raid on his home and seizure of his equipment was unlawful. That is an important and rare legal victory, and I am tempted to attribute it partly to the turning of the tide of Establishment opinion against sacrificing all principles of law to the interests of Israel.

You may perhaps not be surprised to learn that this victory, too, has not been covered by the mainstream media. This conspiracy of silence over extreme abuse of police power against journalists is deeply troubling.

This akin to the British training WWII Nazi’s in Britain.

“In a revealing written parliamentary answer dated 11 June 2025, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that British forces are currently training personnel from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on UK soil. The response, delivered by Labour MP Luke Pollard, stated this is part of “routine Defence engagement with Israel”.

The disclosure follows a parliamentary question tabled by Labour MP Rachael Maskell, who asked when a member of the IDF was last trained by UK armed forces.

The answer has cast fresh light on Britain’s ongoing military relationship with Israel amid continued conflict in Gaza and military escalation in southern Lebanon.

This revelation comes against a backdrop of deepening UK military and intelligence involvement in the Israel-Gaza conflict since 7 October 2023″

October 2023: Deployment of UK Royal Navy ships, Royal Marines and RAF surveillance aircraft to the Eastern Mediterranean to deter weapons transfers to Hezbollah and bolster regional support for Israel.
December 2023 – Present: Over 500 RAF surveillance flights—via Shadow R1, Poseidon P-8, and Rivet Joint aircraft—have been flown from RAF Akrotiri over Gaza to assist Israeli efforts to locate hostages.
January 2024: A secret visit by Admiral Sir Tony Radakin to Tel Aviv to discuss “future operations” with his Israeli counterpart.
February 2024: The UK admitted that six Israeli military officers were posted in Britain for defence-led training courses.
September 2024: Suspension of 30 arms export licences to Israel, amid fears British weapons may be used in violations of international law—though critical components for the F-35 fighter jet programme remained untouched.
May 2025: UK trade envoy Lord Ian Austin visited Israel, despite the formal suspension of UK-Israel trade”

The Telegraph leads with Trump threatening, there will be “nothing left” of Iran if they refuse a deal. Just ponder the fact the fate of an ancient civilisation, of some 90 million souls, is being threatened with ‘annihilation’ by a president with an IQ in double-digits – someone who thinks using ‘nukes’ could be fun. This is Evil Empire, Death star destoying Alderaan type absurd villainy. To think Trump has Scottish heritage… every Scot should be thoroughly ashamed.

Can barely believe the UK is tied to this atrocious madman. Either Russia(given what Iran has provided) or China, need to step in. Because Netanyahu will be given carte blanche by this US cowboy administration, if/when Iran retaliates. This is what happens when the collective West grants a country(Israel) impunity. And thee IAEA is alleged to have, wittingly or unwittingly, provided Israel’s personnel targeting information. So the NPT inspection arrangements are likely over.

      • zoot

“Can barely believe the UK is tied to this atrocious madman”

What Trump is only threatening to do to Iran has actually been done to Gaza over the past year and a half, with the UK having played a significant role in the Genocide.

Did you not see the facts listed in RoS’s comment? (To which many more could be added).

        • Stevie Boy

Look at what has happened to Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iraq. The USA and its vassals only understand destruction, no place for diplomacy or mutual respect. Stupid is as stupid does.

      • Brian Red

It will fit with Trump’s record if he says the Occupation was either right or would have been justified to spy on the IAEA and to use the info when bombing Iran. (“That was a beautiful act of espionage.”) Cue major faffing in London and Paris.

Both Iran and Russia may be holding some interesting documents they could reveal. In Russia’s case I would have thought showing that Occupation aircraft landed in Cyprus after bombing Iran would be easy to prove. In Iran’s case, either they use the info about Occupation nuke sites etc. soon or they reveal it.

Whatever this all is, it’s not a “rules-based international order”.

    • Brian Red

      Thanks for this, @RoS.

This is far beyond letting the Occupation have an embassy in Britain and letting British people go and fight for the terrorist entity without being arrested under the Terrorism Act.

We all know that the Zionists are masters at controlling things in reality (e.g. US Congress) without controlling them officially or owning them legally, but the fact that the British military trains Zionist soldiers makes me wonder how high up the Zionist presence in the British state goes officially.

The head of the CIA’s London station attends weekly meetings of the British Joint Intelligence Committee. Maybe the Zionists operate even higher. (I mean officially. We all know about Starmer and Johnson and May and Blair.)

Meanwhile the British training of Israeli military in Britain is likely
      * to include SAS or SBS or other special forces
      * to go together with the Israeli training of British military in Britain

Here I had an exchange with Dr Kevin Barrett a Muslim and Phd.
HL ..I find it difficult to understand why nuclear weapons are forbidden [Haram] when a city underground in Iran full of the most advanced ballistic missiles can kill thousands of civilians if directed against for instance Tel Aviv, and for some reason is legitimate. Another anomaly is how can a Muslim nation like Yemen attack various Israeli ports including Ben Gurion airport and Haifa from 2000 kilometers away, and the well equipped Hezbollah refuse to attack Haifa port a mere 30 miles away or Ben Gurion airport, an attack on both could cause the Israeli economy to disintegrate?
KB..Let me take a few wild guesses to clear things up for you. You say:

I find it difficult to understand why nuclear weapons are forbidden [Haram]…

Because their explosions are so large they inevitably and massively harm civilians and civilian infrastructure?

when a city underground in Iran full of the most advanced ballistic missiles can kill thousands of civilians if directed against for instance Tel Aviv, and for some reason is legitimate.

Because those missiles are intended to be used against military targets, not civilians?

Another anomaly is how can a Muslim nation like Yemen attack various Israeli ports including Ben Gurion airport and Haifa from 2000 kilometers away, and the well equipped Hezbollah refuse to attack Haifa port a mere 30 miles away or Ben Gurion airport, an attack on both could cause the Israeli economy to disintegrate?

Because the damage to civilians from the Yemeni strikes is relatively minor and mostly symbolic/economic, whereas if Hezbollah got into a tit-for-tat game of targeting civilians then huge numbers of civilians on both sides would be killed?

Many Muslims take seriously their religion’s teachings on the ethics of warfare, which is why al-Qaeda’s claim that “the West has killed millions of our civilians, so we have the right to kill thousands of theirs” never got much traction (maximum 20% approval) while ISIS’s head chopping got almost none at all.
HL..Thanks Kevin. Presumably it might be fine to bomb these economic life lines if a warning was given to evacuate in good time. Keeping in mind that under International Law a belligerent reprisal is legal as per my post the other day. https://ihl-databases.icrc.org/customary-ihl/eng/docs/v1_rul_rule145
HL..We now will see if the Israeli BIG stick will produce Israels desired result and draw the US onto their side. Or, as I hope, Israel is finally subjugated by its many enemies surrounding it.

    • Brian Red

The current spreading of the idea that nuclear weapons are haram is typical psychological warfare.
I first heard this notion yesterday.
It is probably of Israeli origin.
If it comes from an Iranian psywar unit it is hopeless, and they ought to read up about the Mongols.

For the record, strategic nuclear weapons are citybusters. They are weapons for the mass murder of civilians. This is not true of tactical nuclear weapons.

Another instance of psychological warfare is the calling of Yemeni forces “the Houthis”.

      • Stevie Boy

“This is not true of tactical nuclear weapons.”
Tactical nukes can range from fractions of kiloton up to 50kt. Hiroshima: 15kt, Nagasaki: 21kt.
Let’s not spread the nonsense that there are ‘acceptable’ nukes.

  • Harry Law

President Trump has told ABC news early Friday that “there’s more to come” in terms of Israeli military action that the operation was “excellent”. ABC’s Jonathan Karl writes:
I just spoke to President Trump and asked him about the Israeli attack on Iran. Here’s what he told me: “I think it’s been excellent. We gave them a chance and they didn’t take it. They got hit hard, very hard. They got hit about as hard as you’re going to get hit. And there’s more to come. a lot more.” https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/over-200-israeli-warplanes-used-against-iran-trump-warns-even-more-brutal-attacks.
The ball certainly is Iran’s court, Trump and Israels officials are cock a hoop at this seeming success, the Iranians knew as everybody else knew that this attack was coming and after the decapitation strikes whiped out the top Hezbollah leadership so inexplicably was the top Iranian leadership killed, no thought that Israel could do the same. Now all the actors in the ‘arc of resistance’ need to step up their resistance and finally do what is neccessary, or be destroyed themselves.

    • Goose

He promised MAGA an end to all wars.

At this rate, he’ll lose his party every race in the midterms, becoming a ‘lame duck’ and then he could even be impeached.

    • Goose

It appears they’ve avoided attacking oil infrastructure(?) This is likely because it’s the West’s Achilles’ heel; that is to say, were Iran to respond – as they’ve previously threatened to -by destroying all oil and gas infrastructure in the ME. Western economies would fail and govts could fall if oil hit $150-200 per barrel for a sustained period of time, with fuel prices tripling and the impact on food prices etc. Iran could destabilise Syria with assassinations. They could leave the NPT – which seems a certainty now, as being a signature is offering no protection, no upside. Trump threatens an horrific response, but public opinion wouldn’t support, as Israel isn’t exactly flavour of the month among western populations if our elites hadn’t noticed.

  • Harry Law

As you might expect Simplicius has an interesting take on Israels declaration of war. https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/special-bulletin-israel-launches
Hebrew sources: Air force attacks on Iran are divided into three main missions:
    The nuclear project
    Destruction of missile launch platforms
    Elimination of senior regime officials
    Israeli news:
Israeli Channel 14 citing an Israeli official: “We have a long and broad offensive plan for the days ahead – complex days lie ahead. The Iranians will respond, if the public is disciplined, there will be few casualties. We are at war.”

    • Goose

Iran may have difficultly responding, if command and control infrastructure has been destroyed, along with senior military personnel. Plus lots of stuff is stored in tunnels underground, tunnels that may have entrances caved -in. Thus, they may not have their most capable military assets deployed. This is incompetence on Iran’s part; as the attacks were widely signposted. Sure, the extent may have shocked them, including the localised drone attacks on AA defences allowing for missile strikes, which looks a lot like what Ukraine did recently in Russia with western help.

Iran has always been far too hubristic about their own capability, while underestimating Israel’s tenacity. After the reckless pagers attack in Lebanon, adversaries underestimate Israel at their peril.

      • Goose

        Latest:

Sir Keir Stamer has backed Israeli strikes against Iran and said the UK has “grave concerns” about Tehran’s nuclear programme.

Speaking to Bloomberg after Israel’s attacks, the Prime Minister said: “We’ve long held concerns, grave concerns, about Iran’s nuclear programme, and we absolutely recognise Israel’s right to self defence.”

This, as the UK commissions 12 new nuclear attack subs, and a “sovereign warhead” programme – to end dependence on the US. The hypocrisy of France and the UK knows no bounds.

  • AG

German Chancellor Merz defended Israel´s right for self-defense.
    Huh?
    Against what attack?
Not even a material threat as pretext.
Now, again, truth is being altered, international law all of a sudden fiction again.
Oh and very important: all Israeli and Jewish institutions will be under intense protection.
    Really?!
The rooms of Jewish Voices for Peace too???
Or do I first have to sign on the genocide to then get a pass to enter the bunker.

Rather watch the Muppets to learn what really happens.

    • Goose

It doesn’t meet the criteria of justifiable self-defense; namely, as laid out in Article 51 of the UN Charter.

From all official assessments, Iran doesn’t even have nuclear weapons, so how can Netanyahu’s talk of an ‘imminent risk’ to Israel’s existence, be taken seriously?

      • AG

I guess it´s enough if you are not in favour of killing Palestinians. That makes you an enemy of the state.
I have to give it to him, it is a simple concept. Even PhDs get it.

    • Brian Red

The puppets Starmer and Merz have jumped up with “Israel has the right to defence itself”.
Next, Macron, Von Der Leyen, and of course the US Congress.

      • Brian Red

Von Der Leyen has done it now, as expected. No flies on her. She has asked Elon Musk to circulate her message saying not only that the Occupation has the “right to defend itself” but also that it has the right to “protect its people”. Presumably by “its people” she means Jews. I doubt any journalist will ask her.

    ToI again via FB

‘ LATEST: The directive to take out Iran’s nuclear program was given in November 2024, says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a video statement, pledging to give daily video updates when possible.
“The directive came shortly after the assassination of [Hezbollah leader Hassan] Nasrallah,” he says, adding that it was clear to him that Iran would rush toward the bomb once its proxy axis was shattered by Israel.
Israel, he says, identified tangible steps Iran was taking toward weaponization, beyond just uranium enrichment.
Netanyahu set the date for the end of April 2025, he says. He points to “various reasons” it couldn’t be done then, without going into detail.
One very pressing reason might have been US President Donald Trump’s announcement in April that he would engage in direct talks with Iran over its nuclear program.
Instead, it was set for this morning, he says, without explaining why he chose that day.
He says that after Israeli strikes on Iran’s ballistic missile program last year, Tehran embarked on a program to create 300 ballistic missiles a month.
“We decided we couldn’t wait anymore. We are at midnight.”
Netanyahu claims he wanted to strike in 2011-2012, but couldn’t garner enough support. Other security officials at the time have denied this account, though.’

    • Goose

Trump’s so-called ‘deal’ involved Iran giving up its nuclear ambitions altogether i.e. no enrichment, zero. No country of the size and scientific ambition of Iran could submit to such humiliating terms.
Trump unilaterally abandoned The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) after Netanyahu’s lobbying when last in office ; the JCPOA allowed Iran to enrich uranium, with strict limitations and monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Undr the JCPOA Iran was permitted to enrich uranium to a maximum of 3.67% which is suitable for civilian use.
Trump also wanted Iran to abandon its ballistic missile programme, seen as vital to its defence in the region. A country like Iran, the size of all Western Europe (nearly 4x the size of Iraq) and 90 million citizens could never accept such abject surrender type terms, it’d be the end of the regime if they did.

      • andyoldlabour

The West has developed a quite amazing case of amnesia, when it comes to remembering that it was Trump who withdrew from the JCPOA in 2018. I was in Tehran visiting relatives when that happened, I knew that was going to lead to a downward spiral. The ballistic missile programme is essential to the defence of Iran. Trump wants them to lay themselves open to attack, because he knows what their response was after the assassination of IRGC commander Suleymani in Iraq.

  • Republicofscotland

Reports that an Israeli fighter jet has been shotdown over Iran – there’s a huge search party out to find the pilot – also seeing, (can’t confirm yet), reports – on X and Telegram that Iran has launched a barrage of missiles at Israel.

    • Republicofscotland

Re my above comment apparently there’s been multiple missile strikes hitting Tel Aviv and, huge blasts heard near Erbil (Iraq) airport, possibly targeting Mossad bases.

  • M.J.

Might Israel’s attack on Iran have been intended by Netanyahu as a diversion tactic from the genocide in Gaza, to keep himself out of jail, following public humiliation and political ruin – for failing to eliminate the Gazan resistance despite doing his worst for well over a year, as the regular reports from the Electronic Intifada by Jon Elmer show?

    • Brian Red

More likely they will carry out a surprise massive escalation of their war effort against Gaza, either conventionally or with WMD.

It would not surprise me if the Zionists had a hand in the Air India crash too, which if it can be pinned on Pakistan will lead to a major war between that country and India.

Netanyahu could drop dead tomorrow and Israeli strategy would not change.

      • M.J.

The Air India crash is still being investigated, but possible causes include premature take-off and bird strikes. Foul play would be a pretty stupid move because of the possible consequences. I’m doubtful about Israel trying to provoke a war between nuclear powers, one of whom (India) is somewhat friendly towards Israel, because they need all the friends they can get.

        • Alyson

Hearsay suggests the plane sounded ‘off’ when it landed a couple of hours previous to taking off on this tragic flight. Perhaps the crews changed and didn’t communicate concerns to the ones flying the return journey? It is a 9 hour flight.

          • Stevie Boy

Another Boeing, but I’m sure it passed all the quality checks at sign off.

          • Tom74

A terrible human disaster above all but the circumstances of the Air India crash on the face of it, seem at least odd, and especially the immediate and rather pat ‘human interest’ story of the ‘miracle survivor’ and even his paper ticket pictured. Of course, his story may turn out to be completely genuine, but it still raises red flags that it is being used a cover or a red herring. We’ll see.

  • Republicofscotland

Reports suggest the shot down Israeli pilot (A woman) has been captured by Iranian forces – and Israeli Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv struck by Iranian missile — Channel 13 – Israeli nuclear center in Dimona attacked – the government compound in Kirya, which houses the IDF’s secure command centre, was almost completely destroyed in an Iranian strike – Israel’s air defence systems seem to have been overwhelmed by the sheer number of incoming missiles.

    • Goose

Can only imagine what they’d do to the Israeli drone operators if they catch them. Talk about putting your life on the line.

These tactics : building up drone operating squads within countries pre any military action, are proving very effective. Drones can pack a heavy, powerful explosive and destroying expensive hardware costing billions : jets ; air defence systems and radar, before action proper is militarily, a clever tactic.

What new paranoia will this unleash in the West though, among our already paranoid elites? The MoD already believes a load of rubbish about hybrid threats and online brainwashing.

    • Brian Red

Cue Starmer referring to the pilot as a “hostage”.

If Kirya has been destroyed, all I can say is 💪

Perhaps Iranian-held Zionist POWs can be offered screenings of footage from Gaza? In any case I hope they are treated well and in accordance with the Geneva Convention.

          • Pears Morgaine

Depends how she’s treated. Iran has claimed to have downed two Israeli jets and captured one (female) pilot. Israel has denied this. As noted a few days ago in previous attacks Israel took care not to have its jets overly Iran.

          • Goose

I’d imagine the US’s and NATO’s concerns are for the wreckage of the plane, much of which seemed intact in the images I’ve seen.

I’m sure Russia and China will be interested in its systems and anti-radar technologies. Quite a trophy haul for the Iranians.

    • Goose

Noticed UK Sky News coverage showed no missile hitting Tel Aviv, just an image of the sky and interception attempts as two interceptor Tamir(?) missiles seemed to track each other, allowing the Iranian missile through. The coverage is very pro-Israel, out of step with public opinion. After watching Israel pound defenceless, starving Gaza for 23 months, it’s clear from viewing X that many in the world want to see someone giving Israel a taste of their own medicine.

Al Jazeera, now shunted to a data channel online, showed the missile hit however.

      • Goose

        *20 months duh.

Though we all know they’ve been conducting air strikes and ‘targeted’ assassinations – that kill countless bystanders – in Gaza, long before Oct 7, 2023.

      • Urban Fox

The Yoo Kay regime & propaganda apparatus have been supporting Israel’s murderous ramage at every level all along. Including the latest strikes on Iran.

Any contra points and mealy-mouthed statement are obfuscation & arse covering for their wilful complicity in the crimes.

Just gonna float this but is wings a wank?

    • Brian Red

      “is wings a wank?”

The actions of the video games enthusiast reverend speak for themselves.
      Answer is “yes”.

Is “Wings over” a reference to the Book of Revelations?

        • Mac

          Yeah me too.

By silencing the discussion during an ON-GOING genocide, the greatest crime of the 21st Century (so far), he is doing Israel’s dirty work for it.

That is why the John Main hasbara twat on there 24/7 is absolutely delighted, ecstatic, with what he is doing BTL. Because it helps the people committing genocide. They can’t win that argument so silence the argument…

It is one thing not to discuss it yourself, fair enough, but when you start banning the word Palestine and then anyone who says it by typing P@lestine, and then deleting all the comments mentioning the ON-GOING genocide, you’ve lost it. Simple as that.

I’ve long said what is happening in Palestine is a ‘lens’… but I did not expect to see that.

I know this post may seem to ignore the gravity of the current situation but I would argue it underlines it by highlighting the absurd measures the CRAP media resort to.
    Of course, it’s the graun.
    Headline:
Pentagon pizza monitor predicted ‘busy night’ ahead of Israel’s attack on Iran
    Tag line:
Low gay bar traffic and spike in pizza deliveries before strikes boost theory on Pentagon activity during invasions

That’s currently the fifth article on its internet front page.

Trump’s totally inconsistent and doesn’t appear to remember what he’s said from day to day. He’s not as far gone as Biden in his most acute moments of confusion, but Trump’s certainly got some kind of dementia affecting his memory. He seems to take the view of the last person he spoke to. This inconsistency issue is what Elon Musk found so intolerable; he thought they had a covenant and Trump broke it.

      • Jack

What a pathethic man indeed, first he is too weak to enforce a peace in Ukraine by bowing down to the warmongers and now he got his own war in Iran by bowing down to a foreign genocidal power, a power that have no interest whatsoever for the United states. Trump was perhaps on the way to get a deal with Iran and then let Netanyahu walk right over him. It was never about America First, it is still about Israel first.

Tucker turns on Trump: Ex-Fox News host blasts ‘complicit’ president for backing Israel after attacks on Iran

On another topic, impressed and to be honest joyful (if one should use that word watching a war) that Iran managed to get some strikes even in Tel Aviv.
Iran schooled the 20+ arab states that at the same do nothing – yeah more than open their airspace for Israel and deporting and harassing pro-Palestinian protesters that is.

There is however a possibility that Israel cynically let Iran bomb Israel to “justify” an even large bombardment of Iran. Israel might level whole apartments/streets in Teheran and murder Khamenei, there is no telling what this rabid, sick regime is going to do considering the full western backing of this assault.

And yeah just days ago Elon Musk outed that Trump was in the Epstein files with no real rejection by Trump, there are reports that Epstein worked with Mossad, perhaps Trump is getting blackmailed into support Israel or else Mossad will drop some compromising info on Trump? Same happend with Clinton:

Tbh, I think Trump is immune to sexual scandals, as they are kinda priced in after all the Stormy Daniels stuff and the Steele dossier claims. I don’t know why Musk thought that this already widely deduced revelation would even hurt Trump? Everyone had seen the video of him hanging out with Epstein and knew of his playboy past.

Unless a politician is some sort of hypocrite, preaching sexual morality, the public are largely disinterested. This was true even when the Bill Clinton – Monica Lewinsky scandal blew up in the 1990s. The Republicans overplayed their hand back then, by having Kenneth Starr investigate, which allowed Clinton to look like the victim of holier-than-thou hypocrites.

          • Goose

She is Jewish. But I’d never thought about the potential blackmail angle.

Bill Clinton was allegedly a known philanderer, there were clips circulating online a while back, that allegedly show him in a sex tape recorded by Epstein, along with videos of a few other well-known business people – they were apparently posted on Twitter(as it was then) by a woman who was an Epstein victim. It certainly looks like Clinton, though the videos seems to have been zapped from the internet, obviously for legal reasons.

      • Mac

I think it was the AI clause in the The Big Bill that drove Musk over the edge. You have to be furious to tweet what he tweeted on Epstein.

  • Mac

Never thought I’d say it and so soon as well. Trump is way worse than Biden. We will all be lucky to survive his presidency.

  • Mac

I saw Trump making a recent statement and I had to turn him off. His voice is now like a nail down a blackboard, and the conceit of the man, the endless childish braggadocio, it is off the scale. He really is morphing into a monster with every passing day.

I had to check, he took office on Jan 20th meaning this is less than five months later and as of yesterday he has become physically repulsive to me. That is some doing. I can barely look at him and listening to him is a non starter, that fucking voice is doing my head in. And I was one of the people who was really hopeful he would do what he promised… pfft like Musk I am now feeling totally betrayed. I think a lot of people are.

It is sickest joke of all time that he said he hoped to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Oh ! I have just seen the Russian UN ambassador deliver a speech at the Security Council ( 13/06/2025) reporting that the UK facilitated the Israeli attack on Iran by allowing the Israeli aircraft to land at their RAF base in Cypress after the attack. If this is correct then this needs to be determined by Parliament and the government held to account. The UK have now allegedly been implicated in two attacks on nuclear facilities in the last three weeks ! If correct, such fanaticism and extremism needs to be challenged as its consequences present a grave risk to the peace and security of the UK and all of its citizens. If the UK is conducting or facilitating preemptive strikes on the nuclear facilities of its adversaries then the adversaries of the UK are likely to conclude that they should preempt the UK’s preemptive strikes by attacking our nuclear facilities. The rationale of preemptive strikes and attacking nuclear facilities is a ladder of escalation with potentially catastrophic consequences and is gravely irresponsible and potentially suicidal.

Israelis have bought up large areas of land in Northern Cyprus, which officially belongs to Turkey, and the people who live there are unhappy about being thrown off their land.

          • Re-lapsed Agnostic

Northern Cyprus officially belongs to the Republic of Cyprus, Alyson. Of the 193 UN member states, only Turkey recognises it as a sovereign state.

          • Alyson

            Obfuscate all you like…
            From 2023
‘ In recent months, there have been claims surrounding the acquisition of tens of thousands of acres of land in Northern Cyprus, particularly by individuals associated with Israel.

Addressing these claims on November, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) is actively monitoring the situation.

These allegations “have been on our radar since my previous term. Since 2000, Israeli citizens have submitted slightly over 200 real estate purchase applications, placing them 12th among citizens of all countries,” Fidan clarified, in response to concerns.

However, it’s crucial to note that this ranking only encompasses purchases made with Israeli passports, excluding Jewish individuals applying with passports from other countries.

According to Sabahattin Ismail, former advisor to TRNC President Rauf Denktas and former private secretary to the prime ministry, “thousands of Jews applying with Russian, Ukrainian, British, German and Turkish passports are recorded under different nationalities.”

Ismail asserts that three major construction companies, which belong to Israelis who later obtained TRNC citizenship, have the right to unlimited property acquisition, because they are officially registered as Turkish Cypriot companies.

These companies, namely Afik Group, Evergreen Developments Group and Eurocoast Group, have been involved in significant land acquisitions and construction projects, especially in areas facing Israel.

“These Jewish companies, which acquire thousands of acres of land, are registered as Northern Cyprus companies because they are not perceived as Israeli, making it impossible for the state to determine the actual amount of Israeli purchases,” he explains.’

            https://www.trtworld.com/turkiye/silent-occupation-are-zionists-attempting-to-expand-into-cyprus-island-15999042

‘While Israel seeks to increase its presence in Northern Cyprus, it continues to maintain its long-standing partnership and alliance with Southern Cyprus at the highest level.

            ‘President Erdoğan:
(to Israel) They are trying our patience with their delusions about the promised land, which includes our country’s territory, and with threats of using nuclear weapons.”
            — Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications (@Communications) November 10, 2023’

          • Re-lapsed Agnostic

I won’t thank you for that reply, Alyson. I wasn’t obfuscating, just pointing out that Northern Cyprus doesn’t officially belong to Turkey. However, Turkey does have de facto control of Northern Cyprus (after invading and essentially throwing thousands of Cypriots off their land in the 1970’s) – therefore, it can decide who is or isn’t allowed to own land there.

          • glenn_nl

LA: “I won’t thank you for that reply, Alyson”

That’s good – it’s patronising and annoying, and wastes time which I – for one – invariably mitigate by not reading anything that follows.

          • Stevie Boy

The Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 was essentially caused by the regime of the Greek generals looking to install missiles on Cyprus, all instigated by the good old USA. Shades of Cuba !
Cypriots never seem to be able to decide if they’re Greek or Turkish and are thus cursed to dance to the tune of other states.
As well as the Israelis, Arabs, Russians and Chinese have ‘invested’ in Cyprus, it serves as a back door into the EU.

          • Re-lapsed Agnostic

Is it not simply just good manners, Glenn? Even when people disagree, can they not still be civil? You specifically requested that I don’t thank you for your replies – so I don’t. That’s good manners on my part as well. Some might say that to suggest reading certain people’s comments on here to be a waste of time is also ‘patronising and annoying’. Whatever – you obviously still do waste time reading my comments, otherwise you wouldn’t have replied to the last one.

Thanks for your reply Stevie. I would imagine that had the Turkish invasion had been about US missiles, the Turks would have invited the displaced Cypriots back to reclaim their land afterwards.

          • Bayard

“the Turks would have invited the displaced Cypriots back to reclaim their land afterwards.”

That’s presuming they weren’t now settled on land that belonged to Turkish Cypriots displace into Northern Cyprus.

          • Re-lapsed Agnostic

Thanks for your reply Bayard. In the autumn of 1974, most of the displaced Greek Cypriots in the south hadn’t settled anywhere, and most of the Turkish Cypriots in the south (whom the Greek refugees outnumbered 3 to 1) had yet to move to the north.

The Guardian has published an “oh wow, isn’t Mossad amazing” piece, accredited to Jason Burke, “international security correspondent” (and doubtless all-purpose man of mystery):

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jun/14/drone-op-claims-show-israel-mossad-leaning-in-to-its-legend

One issue with this crap is that Mossad is primarily an intelligence organisation that does a bit of assassination, terrorism, and sabotage. Something as large as operating a “drone base” near Teheran in Iran (if this happened at all) would probably have been done not by Mossad but by special forces within the Occupation’s armed forces – such as the “Sayeret”.

No, Jasey boy, James Bond is not the same as the SAS, you twat.

His article is presumably a combination of a handout from the Occupation regime and a smorgasbord of clips. He even mentions the Lillehammer killing in 1973, and includes as part of his word count the information that “the Mossad” is “an abbreviation of the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations in Hebrew”.

    • Jack

Yeah all those fan-boy articles glorifying brazen acts of war. What if Iran infiltrated the british state like that? Would then Jason Burke hail Iran for it? Nah of course not.

    TRUE PROMISE 3
Never has a promise been truer. Just imagine: Fearless Iran retaliated by sending almost 150 ballistic missiles toward Israel. And almost 20 of them reached their target, despite the occupier’s air defense, now funded by Trump and Elon.
It’s a good start. According to available data, the Resistance stronghold still has an arsenal for another 5 true promises. Meanwhile, oil prices are skyrocketing, and the Donald starts understanding he’s been fooled again. Old age brings dementia…
Not a good way to get leverage against Russia or China…

I’m opposed to countries being ran as theocracies – however, Israel had no right to bomb Iran and ignite this latest tit-for-tat exchange, basically Israel committed an act of terrorism – by bombing Iran in the first place – but then again, Israel has been committing acts of terrorism throughout West Asia – along with carrying out a genocide in occupied Palestine.

          Too Scents/Melrose.

          Indeed.

“The United States quietly delivered hundreds of advanced laser-guided missiles to the Israeli regime, knowing that the projectiles would be used by it towards attacking Iran.

The Middle East Eye (MEE) news and analysis website carried the report on Saturday, identifying its sources as US officials, and naming the projectiles in question as air-to-surface Hellfire missiles.

“There is a time and place for Hellfires. They were useful to Israel [as it was seeking to strike the Islamic Republic],” a senior American military official told the website.

The US also provided the regime with the missiles, knowing that their features specifically armed Tel Aviv for surgical strikes, it added.

Also on Friday, the US president, himself, confirmed in remarks to Reuters that he and his team knew the attacks were coming. “We knew everything,” Donald Trump said.”

“But then, better avoid the terms West Asia. It sounds like West, The main culprit in world affairs.”

Unfortunately, the alternative term, “The Middle East ” is equally misleading, there being no Near East as the Middle East borders on Europe, which is the West. At least West Asia accurately describes the western end of Asia.

Although of course Israel is also a theocracy. Its very existence is justified solely by the shaky claim that “God gave the land to the Jews”. Nothing else.

It’s also a theocracy because it conducts a policy of apartheid more extreme than anything ever seen in South Africa, based again on a religious distinction between Jews and everyone else.

Regime media in Britain is saying “Iran warns it will target UK, US and French bases in region if they help defend Israel”

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c93ydeqyq71t

…in other words, if Britain joins the war against Iran, Iran is “warning” that it will defend itself.

This may be propaganda leading up to a more open British military participation as a lapdog of the occupation regime in Palestine in its war against Iran. At this point, I’m wondering how it feels to be a British soldier. Iran is not Gaza and the job won’t be akin to shooting fish in a bucket. Still, many British soldiers are doubtless so stupid as to think that if Iran fights back, that justifies attacking them in the first place, because it shows how wicked foreigners are, especially ones who favour what British soldiers think it’s hilarious to call “Alan’s snack bar”.

  • Republicofscotland

Its looking more and more like the Wests goal in Iran is regime change – as they try and build and sell the narrative to the Western public – that Iran has/or is close to having nuclear weapons and is about to use them – this was same the narrative used against Saddam in Iraq – the selling of the narrative is backed by Rafael Grossi the Director of the IAEA – as the UN body issued statements, that Iran is as a good as a nuclear rogue state.

    https://thecradle.co/articles/us-eu-plan-to-pressure-iran-over-nuclear-program-following-reports-by-un-watchdog

This type of propaganda – will also be used to win over the hearts and minds of those in the West, who oppose an invasion of Iran, which looks like its now on the cards.

“David Ignatius, the unofficial CIA spokesman at the Washington Post, was told to publish this nonsense (archived):

But Iran has other means to hit back. One that has received little attention is its relationship with al-Qaeda affiliates. According to former U.S. counterterrorism officials, Tehran has built good relations with the new “de facto” al-Qaeda “emir,” Saif al-Adel, who took over in 2023 after Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed. These former officials say Adel helped manage WMD planning for Osama bin Laden.
The al-Qaeda affiliate in Yemen may pose a special danger. It’s headed by Saad bin Atef al-Awlaki, who posted a chilling video this month threatening U.S. officials. “Go after the scum of the earth and its greatest criminals,” he urged his followers, naming Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and former DOGE chief Elon Musk. “There are no red lines after all that has been happening to our people in Gaza,” he said. According to the Jerusalem Post, Awlaki urged Muslims in Europe and America to make sure there is “not a single safe place” for Jews.”

The only real leverage Iran has is that of shutting and mining the Strait of Hormuz.

Given the West(EU) is trying to put the squeeze on Russia with a new fixed oil price cap of $45, this idea may even attract the Kremlin, as the oil price will spike. I’m surprised Russia hasn’t offered more support thus far for Iran tbh, given the burgeoning defence relationship; including the provision of missiles and drones etc. Also there’s the support the West has given to Ukraine, and the risks to Russian and Chinese regional influence if Iran is subject to ‘regime change’ and gets a pro-western leadership imposed.

      • Goose

Russia has lots of anti-ship missiles that are no use against Ukraine, which has hardly any naval capacity e.g., P-800 Oniks

“The only real leverage Iran has is that of shutting and mining the Strait of Hormuz.”

        Goose.

Its a possibility – a couple of points though, what’s to stop Israel and its Western allies from attacking a blockade on the Straits – and would closing the Straits, see other nations that rely on it lose sympathy for Iran.

        • Goose

They haven’t got any sympathy, at least not genuine sympathy.

The Gulf monarchies’ condemnation of the Israeli strikes was purely about self-preservation after Iran previously threatened to destroy all their oil and gas infrastructure if their own was attacked. KSA has spent a fortune with western staffed military contractors over the years sabotaging Iran, and sowing ethnic Sunni/Shia tensions in countries like majority Shia Iraq. They are scared of being hit. If Iran mine the Strait thoroughly, it’ll be no simple task to demine it. And impossible if under fire.

Iran may strike the Five Eyes bases in Oman : https://www.declassifieduk.org/uk-quietly-expands-secret-gchq-spy-base-near-iran/

          • Republicofscotland

Yes Goose as you say they’d mostly shed crocodile tears if any at all – however wouldn’t closing the Straits give the USA – in their eyes a “legitimate” reason to fully attack Iran – the Straits are a very strategic bottle neck – but by all means if it helps Iran – then yes they should close the Straits, they did it once before in the Tanker Wars (Iran-Iraq war, 1984) – and the Americans stepped in; for me the only real way Iran can avoid regime change assets tripping etc, is if China/Russia steps in, but will they?

Iran is now heading for a similar fate to Libya, Iraq and Syria, unless Iran can somehow overcome its predicament – of defeating the USA and its minions, which is a big ask.

          • Pears Morgaine

” the only real way Iran can avoid regime change assets tripping etc, is if China/Russia steps in, ”

            That’s a good one.

          • Goose

It depends on lots of variables.

Iran won’t be land invaded and air power might not be enough to destroy the regime. The reason being : Iran isn’t divided – of the 90 million citizens, 90-95% are Shia. There is no oppressed minority to bring to power through divide and conquer, as happened in much smaller comparatively, Iraq and Libya – with varying degrees of success, Libya being still in chaos. And anyone taking power with Israeli and US support will be seen as tainted or even traitors.

Will western populations tolerate an horrifically excessive air campaign against what is an ancient civilisation? Trump promised MAGA no more wars, he and his party can kiss goodbye in the midterms. Our own elites aren’t that popular. Will any of Russia, Pakistan and/or China help Iran? The last thing these nations want is more US regional power.

          • Goose

If Iran is ferociously attacked causing mass casualties, I wouldn’t want to be in Kyiv either, as Russia may take that as a cue to take the gloves off following the Israeli/US example.

The US won’t have a leg to stand on in terms of criticism either.

Israel’s defence minister talks of ‘making Tehran burn’ and Trump of ‘absolute slaughter’ and these are supposedly the sensible, trustworthy nuclear powers ffs?!

          • Republicofscotland

“Will western populations tolerate an horrifically excessive air campaign against what is an ancient civilisation?”

            Goose.

The short answer is yes – they are already tolerating a genocide, they tolerated the destruction of Libya and Iraq, and twenty-years of destruction and murder in Afghanistan, they tolerated the toppling of Assad and the installing of a proscribed headchopping terrorist outfit, (HTS) – which Western leaders, including the UN ones are falling over themselves to meet with them, so the destruction of Iran, a founding member of the UN, will cause some outcry but not enough to stop it happening.

          • Goose

Iran can’t fight this on the US’s and Israel’s terms. They’d need to start thinking outside the box; something they’ve thus far seemed incapable of. I mean, how vulnerable would Israel be to ground forces and a covert interference free, fibre optic, drone operation, similar that conducted in Iran by Mossad? Israel’s Iron dome and US THAD system, could’ve been seriously degraded if not outright destroyed. Iran’s advantage is in trained personnel : The International Institute of Strategic Studies estimates that the IDF currently comprises of just 35,500 regulars, 139,500 conscripts, and 430,000 reservists. That is a very weak force, if ever they had to fight street to street battles, losing their air power advantage.

The fact is that Iran’s existence is genuinely under threat and Israel’s never was, as I fail to see how Hamas could drive the heavily armed Israel ‘ From the River to the Sea ‘

With what dear Henry – with what?

As per usual Israel is playing the injured party ( what’s new?) but the world has seen how Israel operates and similar to the shifty and greedy USA the REAL world – the BRICS world is walking away from the US – The IMF –
The World bank – The Swift Payment System and de- dollarisation.

The MSM miss this – or they are too polite to say?

At the point of this proxy spear is China.

All proxy roads and wars lead to China.

For the simple reason – if you beat China you can rule the world.

          Again.

You think that China and Russia don’t know that?

The Great 3D Pop Up Book Player Donald has had three bluffs called now.

          Putin’s bluffing.

          China’s bluffing – with tariffs.

          Iran’s bluffing.

He has been hammered on two so far.

If things go wrong with Iran this will be his worse bluff call.

          We shall see as usual.

I reckon that’s all about right. Even if China wasn’t particularly supportive of Iran, Iran on the point of collapse might well block the Strait of Hormuz which would hit China very hard so bung them a few thousand more missiles to avoid that. Does it seem likely that Iran or even Russia can pump out all these missiles and drones with their crucial high-tech parts on their own? Of course this is unmentionable in the West. Finger China and the clamour would be to sanction the very place we shipped all our industrial production to. That wouldn’t work out too well.

Regarding the media: my dad said he used to listen to the BBC and the German radio and found that the truth generally lay somewhere in between. Things don’t change much.

      • Urban Fox

Bah, the EU ‘price cap” was always a crock.

They don’t *get* to decide, not least because the other oil producers won’t set that precedent OPEC decides the price of oil. Not sh*twit Eurocrats huffing their own recycled farts.

Just today atleast 9 nuclear scients were murdered by Israel,

Profiles: Prominent Iranian nuclear scientists assassinated in latest Israeli aggression
In the early hours of Friday, at least nine prominent Iranian nuclear scientists were tragically killed in a brutal terrorist attack orchestrated by the Israeli regime on their homes, which also resulted in the deaths of numerous civilians.
    https://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2025/06/14/749807/profiles-iranian-nuclear-scientists-assassinated-latest-israeli-aggression

Pro-Violence, bloodlust, domination – those are the worrds that describe Israel. One wonder if there is sexual satisfaction by Netanyahu and other leaders when they carry on their rampage.

Is there no one that could put this Hitlerite madman Netanyahu six feet deep?

    • Stevie Boy

Netanyahu, like Zelensky, is just a useful tool for the West (USA). These clowns are carrying out the hegemons agenda. When they are no longer useful they will be discarded. Proxy psychopaths.

  • Stevie Boy

Unbelievable (maybe not !), the UK Government and Starmer in particular are total morons.
“RAF fighter jets have been sent to the Middle East to provide “contingency support across the region”, Sir Keir Starmer has said.
The Prime Minister said that British planes have been deployed near where Israel and Iran have been firing missiles at each other.”

    • Goose

Apparently, laughably, Israel/ Netanyahu wants Iranian regime change amidst their bombing campaign. Lots of fake(incorrectly dated) footage emerging of alleged domestic Iranian support for Israel’s attacks. Doubt BBC Verify will be interested in calling those out though.

It’d be staggering if the Iranian population thought this is the perfect moment to follow a war criminal like Netanyahu’s urgings.

Akin to the British obeying Hitler’s orders at the height of the Blitz. Populations typically rally when under attack. And William Joyce aka. Lord Haw-Haw was hung for propagandising the idea of capitulation during the war.

Israel says it now has total control of airspace over Tehran. If true, that is disastrous for Iran and it shows you how full of excessive hubris about their own defence capabilities the Iranians were. This is what happens when military leaders are chosen based on loyalty to the Supreme Leader and the revolution.
Russia doesn’t have anything like such control over Kyiv, Ukraine, even today, and like Iran, Ukraine doesn’t have any air force as such. And this before any US involvement. Iran only had the outdated S-300 systems to begin with.

      • MR MARK CUTTS

‘It says ‘ is a tiresome MSM comment.

Mainly because there are no reporters who are brave enough to ask questions about
what Israel ‘says’ or to go in and check the facts.

Past Gazan history ‘says ‘ that ‘ The Israelis are not really The George Washington of The Middle East at all.

Many pants must have set on fire in Israel.

        Refer to them as Israelies.

        • Goose

The US spends close to a trillion per year on defence, maybe more, given black budgets, hidden military projects etc.

Anyone wanting to go toe-to-toe with that doesn’t stand a chance,… unless they strike pre-emptively, eliminating some of that technological advantage. Iran had lost this the moment the Israelis struck first. They had covert operatives on the ground destroying radar, AA defences and missile silos.

          • JohnnyOh45

            Goose;
The resistance in Yemen disproves you.

China relies heavily on Iranian oil and is a key strategic partner of a Iran. China will defend its interests and Russia will not want regime change in Iran if it leans to the USA.

The recent report by the BBC that UK aircraft have been deployed in the Middle East (in effect) to provide support to its ally Israel makes it more plausible that the Russian claim that Israeli aircraft were sheltered at the UK airbase in Cypress is accurate.

        • Brian Red

If the Occupation knew for certain that it had total control of the airspace over Teheran,

          1. They wouldn’t say it, and
          2. It would be easy to demonstrate it to their enemy if they wanted to.

Both sides may not be as sure of what the position is as they’re making out.

      • Goose

This is becoming like Comical Ali stuff now : Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, once again threatens to “open the gates of hell ” if Israel keeps attacking.

Well, what is he waiting for? Has he lost the gate key?

Israel has the best, latest, greatest US equipment in the F-35, all provided free; equipment they could never have created themselves; the product of hundreds of billions of dollars in US research, and hundreds of thousands of man hours. Iran are outmatched horrendously; just as Gazans can do very little, neither can Iran. The only option Iran has really is to sabotage oil and gas supplies in the region, hurting the West, so they force Israel to stop.

        • Urban Fox

          Lol, the Flying Albanian Mushroom!

Mate the F-35 is a sh*t plane, it exists to boost stock dividends not war-fighting. Better US models got shelved *because* they were cheaper & more effective.

By the way it’s funny you’re ignoring the fact that Israel is getting hit by volleys of missiles and the IDF hasn’t been able to actually defeat Hamas or hold territory on the Gaza strip securely for years.

Nor could Saudi’s beat half of Yeman with *all* the whizbang NATO toys & support assets money could buy.

Then there laughable notion that the US is a an unbeatable military juggernaut, when they’ve proven anything but. Formable sure, but overrated and highly cost-ineffectual.

          • Pears Morgaine

Israel has operated the F35 over Iran and Syria with apparent impunity despite both nations being equipped with state of the art Russian anti-aircraft systems.

No one ever won a war by just bombing the other side. If anything it just stiffens the population’s resolve. The only way either side can really win this conflict is to get boots on the ground and that’s never going to happen. Iran doesn’t have enough money and Israel doesn’t have enough troops. The bombardment and counter-bombardment will continue until one or both sides run out of fireworks and somebody negotiates a ceasefire.

Israel has struck at Iran’s oil and gas facilities.

The Iranian and Occupation governments are both saying they’re going to whack their enemy harder soon. In itself that’s not particularly clever psywar.

Meanwhile the British regime’s prime minister is scraping the bottom of the barrel by saying that talking about what forces his regime is sending to the region is an “operational matter” on which he won’t comment. But whether or not a regime is preparing to involve itself in a war against a foreign country is not an operational matter at all. Maybe it wasn’t through skill with words that this dickhead won court cases?

It’s typical of Britain that whenever a government minister (often it’s the interior minister) says that such-and-such a matter is “operational” and therefore one on which he or she “won’t comment”, the media treat such a statement as if it’s dignified. As for the minister, they straighten their back and doubtless think of themselves as some kind of soldier. Actually they sound like a pillock from the local council who when they’re told something they reply that they “have no information about that”. They’re both stock replies for cardboard cutout authority figures.

    • Goose

Britain has, objectively, the most unaccountable armed forces in the western world. I’m not talking about the problem of blind loyalty for the forces, from a parliament comprised mainly of right-wing hawkish types, or the failure of any opposition leaders to actually ask searching questions of the PM about deployments, Israeli signals gathering surveillance flights etc.

We actually don’t have democratic oversight of special forces (SAS and SBS). There is no pre-operation briefing, nor post-operation review. France, Denmark , even the US have similar forces and all have democratic oversight in place. The UK, alone, does not. For all we know, and I’m NOT suggesting this is the case, as it almost certainly isn’t, but for all we know they could be the covert figures seen in Iran, or in Russia, blowing up those strategic bombers with drones. We have no oversight and that’s deeply problematic, as special forces are carrying out actions that could trigger a world war. Or they could be asked to carry out deeds, the US equivalents can’t because of their political oversight.

MPs were arguing for oversight back in 2018 , and as far as I know, nothing since then has changed: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/apr/24/special-forces-need-to-face-scrutiny-from-parliament-say-mps

I know I’ve mentioned this before but given covert ops around the world it seemed pretty apt to mention again.

This is what appeasement by the West leads to, that is for sure and after Iran Israel will probably go after Qatar.

I will soon go to bed, I always fear what I will read when I wake up in the morning, I really despise that anxiety-ridden feeling, like, how many palestinians or iranians Israel killed during the night, or how many streets IDF leveled in Teheran or that Khamenei have been bombed to bits. Or will Israel use the Samson option, going nuclear on Iran. Iran should start filing complaints to the ICC. It is so sad that the non-western world could not unite better during these times, standing together, protecting each other.

    • Goose

They won’t be allowed to touch Qatar.

Qatar has an insurance policy: if the rumours are true, they funded certain things western (US /UK) leaders wouldn’t want in the public domain. That’s allegedly why even the ‘bonesaw’ Saudis were repulsed with them at one point. I don’t think Qatar was genuinely Hamas’ friend either, despite hosting their leadership. That was to prevent them setting up in Iran, away from western ears and eyes.

    • Brian Red

The Samson option doesn’t just mean nuking Iran. It means nuking Europe, Russia, and the USA. In Ariel Sharon’s words, “to take the world down with us”.

These are the insane maniacs that the USA has been helping for so long. There has never been a regime in the world that has had such an insane doctrine – not North Korea, not the Central African Republic under Bokassa, not Mongolia under Baron Ungern-Sternberg, not anyone.

It’s interesting how in the USA there is both anti-monarchist and monarchist agitation happening right now. (In year 2025).

“No thrones, no crowns, no kings” is a slogan of anti-Trump protestors.

While on the monarchist side, some Zionists who want to ban anti-genocidal protests are carrying the Chabad flag with a crown on it. This symbol has also been sprayed by barbarian Zionist soldiers on the ruins of destroyed Palestinian homes in both Gaza and Lebanon.

    • Goose

The military parades do seem strangely un-American, and more about Trump’s vanity,

US loyalty is firstly to the Constitution; the founders were strongly anti-monarchy having fought a revolution to free themselves from the rule of the British monarch. The UK has parades, because everything revolves around Royalty or one family : the Windsors. Many wish it didn’t!

  • JohnnyOh45

You can’t fault the BBC for this quote at least, which is from their article- UK sending more RAF jets to the Middle East:

The Prime Minister would not be drawn on whether the UK would be involved in defending Israel.

” I had a good constructive discussion with Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu yesterday, and that included discussions about the safety and security of Israel, as you would expect between two allies” he said.

There you have it. There is an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for Prime Minister Netanyahu for crimes against humanity, due to the genocidal conduct of Israel toward the two million Palestinians in Gaza, who are currently being blockaded and starved to death.

Prime Minister Starmer refers to the Israelis as an ally although the International Court of Justice directed interim measures (26/01/2024) to prevent genocide on the basis that the evidential threshold for Israel’s plausibly committing a genocide had been met. The UK’s position cannot be misinterpreted.

Matt Kennard, late of Declassified, reminds us again that in 2020 the UK signed a military cooperation agreement with Israel. However our democratically elected government will not disclose the provisions contained in this agreement. From reviewing the above our likely collaboration in the Gaza genocide appears all but assured as does our role as a co-belligerent on Israel’s attacks on Iran, given the military agreement the UK has made and the logistic support from our RAF base in Cypress.

Parliament needs to understand the provisions of this 2020 military agreement with Israel and what obligations the UK military has incurred as a result.

It’s an open invitation to a counterattack on the Cyprus air bases from which the whole campaign against Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Iran, has been conducted non stop for years.

That is designed to draw Erdo’s Natzo turkeys into a ‘article 5’ boots on the ground forces against the Iran/RF/China/BRICS+.

However,I was appalled to see Craig refer to Amanda Knox as a “vicious American murderess” when , apart from the Faustian pact of Rudy Guede’s plea bargain testimony the only evidence against the foxy one was DNA evidence from the UK FSS which, as demonstrated in the Robert Harriman tome I alluded to above, is of a probative standard thar the FBI and the US courts more generally, would not acceptable as valid, despite these institutions being intrinsically biased against the poor in all their panaroma, most especially with regards to race and class.

“He is a knight in slimy armour.
A rent boy and a renter himself.
        Cock addict pooper scooper.”

Are you hinting that he is gay?

        Why not just say it?

He is married to a woman and has a son acc to Wiki but of course that doesn’t mean that he is straight.

        • Goose

          @JK redux

No one knows, and let it be stated : there is absolutely nothing wrong with being openly gay.

There do however, appear to be mounting rumours. First regarding his strange relationship with openly gay, Lord Alli, and now the weird incidents with the alleged Ukrainian rentboys. Kamal Ahmed, who some allege is linked himself, to the intel agencies produced a piece in the Telegraph : https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/06/01/labour-mps-are-despairing-of-keir-starmer/ . The piece suggests he hasn’t got long left as PM, as if some huge scandal is brewing like some coming storm.

If some public figure were gay, and that person was playing happy families; married, while in the closet, it’d be ideal for blackmail. The establishment probably use blackmail all the time to get people to do their bidding. Could explain a lot.

          • Steve Hayes

There’s a pattern. One of the political parties has a leadership contest. Somehow, one of the candidates gets bigged up in the media with no awkward probing of their policies or background. They glide into position, come to power and then do all the things that their own party detests: especially warmongering. Then those of us who don’t entirely rely on the mainstream media learn of things in their past that they might prefer stayed there. Blair was apparently known as Emily and Miranda in a past life and a person named as Charles Lynton was done for cottaging. Various politicians may have visited a camera-stuffed mansion or island. There’s the Palace of Westminster seemingly packed with gropers and tractor fanciers. And now there’s Starmer and the Ukrainians. Common sense says all this is unlikely to be coincidental and people get propelled into these positions precisely because they can be blackmailed.

        • Re-lapsed Agnostic

I may be wrong but I believe that DG’s elegy is referring to the current prime minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, the Right Honourable Sir Keir Rodney Starmer KC MP, JK.

      • Goose

        @DunGroanin

Regardless of whether he’s some deep state functionary or not. The most obnoxious thing is, he’s a terrible waste of Labour’s time in office. As I’m sure you’re aware, under rotten FPTP, these non-Tory opportunities typically only come around every 20-years or so. The fact this is a continuation of Tory business as normal, is something everyone who considers themselves a progressive should be furious about.

The most depressing thing by far, is the fact he’s a status quo preserving time server. We should be getting radical constitutional and democratic reform, and instead we’ve got this dyed-in-the-wool ‘special relationship’ serving, establishment asshole. With his false leadership prospectus, and his inherent conservatism, he’s cheated us of our democratic rights.

        • Stevie Boy

The fact is, wooden top Starmer is a self declared zionist, he is married to a jewish woman and their children are being raised as jews. In any conflict involving Jews, Starmer is seriously compromised. His obvious zionist sympathies do not align with those of the british people. The country is being dragged into a conflict which there is little support for, let alone being associated with the illegal genocide of Palestinians.
          Starmer must go.

The problem is, they need the Iranian people to do the heavy lifting.

That is by no means certain. For Iranians may hate aspects of living under a theocracy – nowhere near as grim as made out in the West – btw. But seeing your state and facilities you rely on, bombed to pieces, well, it doesn’t exactly make you want to side with your tormentors.
If Trump carries through his threats, he could well unite Iranians behind the regime in all probability. Only the most warped would cheer on those destroying their state and the instigator of all this, Netanyahu, is despised across the whole Muslim world.
