57% of our Electricity comes from North Sea Gas.Clark
– “…or so I have been told”
Who told you, Michael? Who told you that this was “possibly it is a hatred of the British Identity”?
ET
Quoting Michael: “To be honest, I am not exactly sure what woke is.”
Yet, in the very next sentence you state the you believe the Labour party, The Green party, the Liberal Democrat party and the SNP are steeped in wokeness. If you aren’t sure what “woke” is how can you make such a statement and not see the incongruity in that. Surely, rather than allowing yourself to be told by others what the term means and it’s origins you should find out for yourself by doing a little research. Don’t you think it’s incumbent upon you to find out the meaning of a term (which by your own admission you don’t understand) before you accuse people, organisations of being steeped in it?
I searched the term “woke as originally defined” and it took me 30 seconds to, at least, have a roadmap of it’s origins.“Woke is now defined in this dictionary as “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).”
“The phrase “woke” and to “stay woke” is not new — it began appearing in the 1940s and was first used by African Americans to “literally mean becoming woken up or sensitised to issues of justice”, says linguist and lexicographer Tony Thorne.”
1940s America, racial segregation etc etc. That was the context.
Do you think that UK parliaments enacting various child labour laws in the early 1800s to prevent child exploitation were being a bit too woke? Or was it measured social justice?

Clark & ET,
yes I was aware that Woke started in America, as ET has said, Black People, wanting equal rights with White people.
However, this phrase has been appropriated for many causes in the U.K.
It has become a sort of “catch all”As for Universities, flirting with Communist Ideology might have started before World war Two.
Several well known traitors, were in “contact” with Russia, as we know, one of them was looking after Queen Elizabeth’s paintings.
Anthony Frederick Blunt (26 September 1907 – 26 March 1983)Quote
“It is a tale of a brilliant and distinguished art historian who turned to Communism and espionage while a don at Cambridge University, secretly conffmsed after a decade of spying for the Soviet Union, was granted immunity from prosecution and then lived 15 years more at the upper level of British society”michael norton
Causes
Anti this and Anti that, Carbon dioxide, multiple sexual issues, Communism, (a theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs.)
As far as I know, Universities, in many countries are breeding grounds for warping young minds.
So, these are the priviledged people
(Having a special advantage: This refers to having an advantage because of social position, wealth, or background, such as having a good education or access to resources that others do not)As I have said, most ordinary working people and poor people do not fret about Carbon dioxide.
They have more pressing matters to attend.michael norton

63% of our Electricity coming from North Sea GasWe are a long way from Net Zero
michael norton
My goodness, this is a brilliant interview, very long, you will need a flask of tea and some sandwiches to get you through it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzCiEHGVMwA
Kathryn Porter with kiskin – TRIGGERnometryShe talks almost without drawing breath.
I could write down what this interview involves but it would be better if those with an interest in Net Zero, allowed themselves to take it in, rather than just say ” she is paid by the Gas Industry, therefore I pay her no heed”

11.52 Monday
at present 64 % of our electricity is coming from North Sea Gasagain, nowhere near Net Zero
yet we have the most expensive electricity in Europe?

“As far as I know, Universities, in many countries are breeding grounds for warping young minds. So, these are the [sic] priviledged people.”
As someone who was very privileged to have a university education albeit half a century ago, I find your comments inane and deeply unpleasant. You’ve unveiled yourself as a racist, bigot and – to use a very old fashioned word – an idiot.
Goodbye.

quite a low response.
Yes, there is a distinction between those who have been to University and the Rest of the population.
Those, like you, who have been to University consider yourselves more intelligent, more perfect, more entitled to hold a view, whilst looking down on ordinary people, who have helped fund your education.
Have your heard of Democracy?ET
“Those, like you, who have been to University consider yourselves more intelligent, more perfect, more entitled to hold a view, whilst looking down on ordinary people, who have helped fund your education.”
Michael 🤣
Stop trying to wind people up. Didn’t you tell us your daughter was a doctor? So, she must have gone to university. Does she look down on you and your views? I bet her Dad is very proud of her. Also, most students now pay £9,000 plus a year in fees and come out of uni with huge debt.

Chaps, I am trying to suggest, as you most probably already know, there is a lot of shit going on in higher education.
There are far left activists, including the staff, who are warping minds.
They are being swamped by politically correct dogma. There are groups of beliefs, that they are expect to think are real.
As you have mentioned my daughter, every week of her school life, they had sessions on how to think, how to see the world, all in the modern politically correct shining light.
Don’t agree, then higher education is most likely – not for you.
The Civil service, is warped deeply with this left wing mindset.
probably, most of them have been to university.
The teaching staff, likewise are enveloped in this left wing mindset, I could go on but then you might think i was obsessed.michael norton
I have family members, who are in the law industry, most of them are left wing.
The judges, seem to heavily favour left wing nonsense.
These groups of notions are often taken are a mindset, to be “believed” if you are to advance in your career, in a council, in higher education, in the civil service and in many other walks of life, like the police.Clark
Michael, that gas you keep going on about. It’s gas, not “North Sea gas”. You’re out of date; look up where it is really coming from these days.
And answer other commenters questions!! Not doing so is arrogant, rude and presumptuous. It also keeps you in ignorance, which is precisely where the Elite want you!!!

Hello Clark, North Sea Gas, ( this includes gas from the Atlantic Ocean, North of Scotland) is almost all Methane CH4.
Most of it comes from the breakdown of organic matter by some types of Archaea.
I expect as 2/3 of our world is covered by seas, that much of it is happening in the deep strata beneath the seas.
This is renewable, although I don’t know on what timescale but there is a lot of the stuff.
I thought most of our Methane came from The Netherlands, Norway and the U.K. waters, collectively called The North Sea?
Some of our Methane comes in from the Middle East and some from the U.S.A. as a liquid.
This is a more expensive commodity.
The end gas is the same or almost the same.Clark, if there are specific questions you wish me to reply to, could you re-list those requests, please.
Clark
Michael, Norway isn’t really the North Sea, and Norway and the Netherlands certainly aren’t what was meant by “North Sea Gas” in the 20th century “dash for gas”, which referred to gas from Britain’s continental shelf. You didn’t even reduce your figures for US and Qatari LNG, did you? And your figures are always cherry-picked; you post at times of low wind not, for instance, Friday 3 Oct, when wind was supplying 75% of UK electricity, and could have supplied 90% if enough grid had been built. But why care about accuracy when you have a political axe to grind, eh? Just bend the facts; after all, that’s what politicians do. It’s all just grist to the mill so that your tribe can dominate others.
Clark
Yeah, I’ll relist some questions. Do you resent your daughter’s higher education? Do you retract your resentment of paying tax for education in the light of student debt? Do you think social justice is too woke, and we should have a far more Dickensian society? Make ten year olds do dangerous, unhealthy work, and if you’re born poor you stay poor? Abolish requirements for seat belts, anti-lock brakes and pollution controls on vehicles?
Clark
Maybe women should lose the vote, and maybe even people who don’t own land or a house too.
Damned ungrateful is what people like you are, Michael. All those people who protested, suffered, got imprisoned or even killed, fighting for the advantages, freedoms and protections you take for granted; woke useful idiots, one and all.
Of course it’s you that should be providing medical care, while your daughter ought to be up trees lopping off limbs. It’s only left-wing indoctrination at university that makes anyone think she might be better at that than you, eh? Nothing to do with acquiring specialist knowledge and skills, painstakingly developed and refined by generations of the medical and scientific communities.
Absolute bilge you come out with. Here you are moaning about energy policy and blaming it all on a one year old Labour government, as if it had nothing to do with the fourteen preceding Conservative years. And they filled the rivers with sewage. But no; letting companies do whatever they like so long as they stuff the wallets of their shareholders has nothing to do with ideology, eh?
Grow some damn humility; you’re not as damn clever as you think.
Clark
Kathryn Porter. Yeah, she talks a lot – and it’s riddled with dishonesty. You, Michael, don’t have the technical expertise to understand when she’s deceiving her audience, so you’re blind to the political propaganda she’s pushing. I do have such technical expertise; I understood 100% of what she said about the Iberian blackout, so I know precisely how each of her summaries directly contradicted her preceding technical description. She either knows her stuff or she’s very good at learning a script. I suspect the former, making her deception wilful, carefully crafted from real facts, blinding her audience with engineering rather than science. You’re her dupe, Michael. I’d walk you through it, but you’re too arrogant and opinionated to accept that I’m actually trying to help.
Clark
Keep at it Michael; you’re almost making me like this bunch of Labour charlatans.
Clark
Those two wallies don’t have a clue how to challenge her deceptions; they don’t even know that they are deceptions. They just sit there looking flabbergasted.
This is why technical arguments must be presented in an appropriate technical forum, e.g. scientific arguments must be published in the scientific literature rather than being presented directly to the public. I could rip her arguments to shreds. Maybe that’s why she looks so nervous, in case one of them asks a pertinent question by accident, or notices one of her contradictions and enquires about it.

Currently – 8.42 Wednesday, 68% of our electricity coming from North Sea Gas.
In less than four years the labour administration claim that as far as electricity production is concerned we will be 95% Net Zero. This, is of course not possible.
They want you to believe that which is unbelievable.michael norton
Things seem to be getting chaotic in the South of Ukraine.
Today 14/10/2025 I learned thatPresident Zelenskyy created a new military administration to govern the city of Odesa.
Mr. Zenenskyy has annulled the citizenship of the mayor of Odesa, Gennadiy Trukhanov.Quote Wikipedia “Gennadiy Leonidovich Trukhanov (born 17 January 1965) is a Ukrainian politician. He was the mayor of Odesa from 2014 until 2025, when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revoked his Ukrainian citizenship”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gennadiy_TrukhanovPerhaps these events mean Russia is considering taking Odesa?
Mr. Trukhanov was in the military of the U.S.S.R. serving in the South Caucasus.michael norton
