I see a parallel between Kash Patel under Trump and Nikolai Yezhov under Stalin. Yezhov appears to have taken to drink as he was sidelined and finally purged. Being purged in Stalin’s Soviet Union often meant death, while in the USA it merely means a loss of position, but it appears from media reports that Patel has taken to drink, and may well go the way of Lori Chavez-Deremer.
Pam Bondi was fired for poor performance, in failing to prosecute political adversaries, and we may well see Patel fired for both the bad publicity resulting from reports of alcohol-fuelled behaviour, and poor performance, in failing to prosecute political adversaries. Trying to prosecute people in connection with the 2020 election looks like a desperate move, which I predict will prove futile.
Following Patel’s ouster, I predict that Pete Hegseth will be next, particularly if America gets its Teutoburg moment in the Gulf, and that RFK Jr will follow.
That will set Trump and the Republican party up for a crushing defeat in the November mid-terms.
