The Way We Live Still 89

In a world in which our Queen and Prime Minister toady Arab despots, and Uzbek gangster and convicted blackmailer Alisher Usmanov is the UK’s richest man, where is the modern Thackeray or Trollope to chronicle the moral vacuum of high society?

It is no consolation to the three British men tortured in Dubai, that their treatment at least temporarily lifted the conspiracy of media silence on the evils of the Gulf regimes. Not to the extent of provoking in-depth reporting of the running atrocity that is Bahrain, or even a single mention in the mainstream of the torture imprisonment and secret trials of 94 entirely respectable pro-democracy activists in Qatar.

Where money talks, the politicians and the mainstream media do not.

Uzbek in the Uk, I thought Uzbek was you with a shortened name and was wondering if you’d been tortured into having a new opinion all of a sudden. Then when I saw your post I was relieved. So who is Uzbek? Could it be Usmanov himself? I just lifted this from your second link.

Усманов Алишер Бурханович (кличка – «Узбек»)

  • Uzbek in the UK

    Uzbek,

Following your logic, if for instance I ask you if you related to drug trade and money laundering, should I expect you to respond positive? Now if I ask someone (Usmanov for instance) who is known to be related to drug trade and money laundering if he is related to drug trade and money laundering , should I expect him to respond positive?

  • Uzbek in the UK

    John Goss,

Thank you for your concerns about my well being. Thankfully I am still in the UK and thus thankfully uzbek thugs hands are short to do this things to me. Although with Usmanov now settling here, I expect there will be more criminals coming here for so called ‘business trips’.

I doubt that it is Usmanov who writes under Uzbek on this blog. It is more likely one of his underlings or quite possibly someone from Uzbek Embassy, as latter employed on ‘it is more important who you know’ basis and it is quite possible that criticism of Usmanov (high positioned Uzbek) is sensitive to them.

  • John Goss

Uzbek in the UK, good to have that confirmation.

You’re probably right, though having been mentioned by name in the blog-post might just have pushed Usmanov to respond personally, but like you say, the world is full of underlings prepared to do the work of the master (I’m thinking here Bulgakov).

Doug Scorgie, the Canadians will probably create a suspense account until they can find another loss of like proportion to match it in this crazy world of inventive accountancy.

  • Komodo

AS far as I can see, Usmanov’s charitable actions are restricted to two areas – buying expensive art and giving it (or at least making it available) to Mother Russia, and supporting fencing (swords, not keeping livestock in). The former has been plausibly ascribed to the need to keep Putin sweet – Putin likes art – and the latter is a sport at which he used to be surprisingly good. It might be argued that Arsenal is another object of his compassion , but however you see it there are certainly more deserving and less high-profile causes out there.

Would this state visit/banquet have been decided upon by the Boy Hague himself? Or by a higher authority? Jeremy Heywood the Cabinet Secretary, or even the PPS to Agent Cameron perhaps. The latter is a Chris Martin (who?). The background eminence at the Palace, The Rt. Hon. Sir Christopher Geidt KCVO OBE is the power behind the throne. I am sure that he has a say.

See where he’s been and what he’s done. Even sued John Pilger and won sadly.

I mentioned in a previous thread on the good authority of Frank Gardner that we use this base in the UAE

Two Skeikhs there. I apologize. My eyes are affected by hay fever.

April Showers, you are reminding me of smn that I respect on this blog. Is that you?

Komodo suggests Al Quaeda as a better alternative to our corrupt government and the corrupt systems they operate for their benefit. Sadly, Al Quaeda is just a front invented by CIA/Mossad/MI6 to camouflage their nefarious activities around the world. Don’t take my word for it, look up Gordon Duff, Wayne Madsen and many others on the web.

  • Komodo

“Komodo suggests Al Quaeda as a better alternative to our corrupt government….”
    Did I? Better have a look, then…
    No, I didn’t.

    Mr Nevermind.

No wonder you thought my last post O/T. You tell dad to go back to his shed. Did’nt you know Dad’s on the run with no shed to return to?

There so many threads going on at present I’ll forgive you for missing that Mr Kemp and That Man destroyed dad’s shed and his Dell at 7 15am on Sunday cos they said he was a “…F**king Embarasssment…” and anyway he was sacked, since which time he has been on the run but some obscure reason of his own, still posting garbage on Adrian’s laptop which he crept back and stole.
I don’t think he’ll be back now especially since there’s a scary black van full of Russians waiting for him outside the O’Brien’s.

And Mum won’t stop humming and I notice nobody’s arrested Mr Bliar yet, Mr “How can I atone?” Komodo, and anyway Royalty is just an anna…..ancro….it’s just a bloody waste of time .

  • Komodo

I’m sorry, Sophie. Mr. Blair is currently in the US, telling anyone who will pay him about the state of our economy and how he could of course do much better, and I always get turned back or put in quarantine when I try and fly to the states. But one day, he and I will meet, and if he makes it to trial at Kingston Magistrate’s court with a dose of aeromonas hydrophila* circulating in his bloodstream after I have bitten him, I for one will be very much surprised. Patience, my sweet.

Craig as you say “Where money talks”
    .
Follow the money. Can anyone find the three thousand one hundred million dollars that the Canadian Government and its Spy agencies can’t account for? Here is what the National Post had to say today.
    .
“ the Harper government was again on the back foot after the Auditor-General, Michael Ferguson, found problems beneath just about every rock he examined — ranging from $3.1-billion in money allocated for anti-terror initiatives that appears to have slipped down the back of the government’s couch”

    .
One should advise one’s children to become a spy. Not only is it just about the only growth area of the economy these days, but there may be lots of loot to share as well – and no chance of getting caught since, as in the UK, these people are above the law.
    .
But good news for the monarchy! A major Canadian opinion poll reports that an amazing 28% of Canadians still support a continuation of the monarchy in Canada.

Yes Max. I will revert to my first name when I know the coast is clear and the troll has been extinguished. He/she/it seems to think that this is his blog, not Craig’s, and that he can interrogate, invigilate and cross question others on here as well as making abusive and sometimes obscene comments.

“It is impossible that the New World should remain a simple spectator before the gigantic struggle which is progressing in Europe. I do not ask that the New World intervene by armed force, but that it shall not conceal its opinion, its aversion for that horror which is called reaction and which truly is only death; that it shall not conceal its indignation for the abominable calculation of that reaction which is incapable of comprehending anything of the life, the work, the science and the art of human genius. I ask that the New World shall not remain skeptical before the senile attacks of those armies which respect nothing, neither women, children, old men, unfortified cities, museums, nor cathedrals. * * *

It is impossible that the free United States, born out of the sacred struggle against European domination, enlarged, enriched, and ennobled by that struggle, and now in the front rank among nations as the fruit of that struggle, should hesitate between revolution and reaction, between right and conquest, between peace and war.”

  • Uzbek

    Larry,
I am not suggesting anything! I am saying that he WAS indeed jailed wrongfully. Corruption was everywhere at that time and his father being a prosecutor of Tashkent could easily get him out but he didn’t!

MAX, UZBEK in UK and others who think that I am die hard supporter of Usmanov or lord himself 🙂
You are just bunch of jealous, uninformed and trash talking creatures. Your so called accusations are baseless and full of BS. Especially the sources uzbek in the UK has provided:) Ask Mr. Murray about what he actually thinks about sources like that ? 🙂 Grow up dude! Citing garbage websites as a credible source 🙂

Usmanov made significant amount of his fortune on collapse of Soviet Union. This is what i call being at the right time at right place.

His friends at MGIMO did not abandon him after school because he delivered on his words. He was a good friend don’t you think so? They went to business with him not because they were afraid of him, because they trusted him.

We can debate countless of hours here weather Usmanov is crooked or not but the fact is he is the richest person in UK will remain and he will continue growing more day by day.

I wish him more success and hope he will continue to support needy as he does regularly and never publicize it.

You all, Gents, on the other hand, will keep spreading germs by spitting while you trash talk a person whom you NEVER met in life:)!

    cheers!

  • Sophie "Cagna Pazza" Habbercake

    Dad!

Your continued postings have more to do with those Russian’s than with Mr Kemp don’t they?

    And Mr Komodo,
Perfect timing! Gary showed me your message on his flashy phone during Biology so we pestered Miss Marquart until she gave up on Homeostasis and explained all about Aeromonas hydrophila and I can see you are now taking our relationship seriously, so since I am still practicing compassion, if you can arrange a good dose of Tail Rot for him I’ll settle for him only doing nine years community service in Fallujah. So remember, absolutely no toothpaste or flossing for you till you next see him.

  • Max

    Uzbek,
In Soviet times jailing the prosecutor’s son was impossible due to connections of his father, unless he did something seriously wrong (I heard from a friend of mine that the son of Andizhan’s former governor went unpunished for years for kidnapping and rape of young girls just because his father had good relations with your president Karimov). Besides, AU was a security services agent. This makes it more impossible to jail him “wrongly”. (Why your KGB chief Mr Inoyatov’s son in law junior Parpiev is unpunished although he is involved in racketeering, money laundering).

Anyways, saying something again and again to a certain class of people will always be fruitless. Your American pretending street language proves it all.

Hello again, Mary – good and surprising to see you back again …after your pompous and vain declaration that you were off to pastures new!

I’m sorry to see that you’re obviously still your old self : a liar (obscene comments – you could ask your friend Doug “Zionist cunts” Scorgie about obcenities; abusive comments – rather your specialities, especially when pulled up for irrelevance and snide little comments about people’s Jewishness or marital status, etc, etc…), a person who has the nerve to claim I see this as my blog when it’s you who was asking for me to be banned (reminder : it’s Craig’s blog), and an inveterate poster of feeds from the papers and other msm irrespective of the subject of the threads Craig proposes.

If you think that the coast will “be clear” and that I’ll be “extinguished”, you’re living in an even bigger dreamland than I’d thought.

Post rubbish and I’ll be there!

  • Habbabkuk (La vita è bella)

I actually think that the blog was a better place with Mary on her sabbatical – comments were more on topic and the atmospherics were more congenial. There was even some top-class humour, cf. Sophie’s posts, which attracted a storm of compliments and plaudits.

Anyway, if Craig is stepping up the pace of his posts in an attempt to keep comments on-topic : deal with one theme and then move expeditiously on to the next one thus giving the Egregiousness of Eminences less time to wheel out their old, tired obsessions then I can only approve and wish him success.

Uzbek, If Usmanov supports the needy regularly but never publicizes it how come you know?

  • Habbabkuk (La vita è bella)

    @ The Scourge :

Well, a simple explanation could be that Uzbek is an acquaintance of Mr Usmanov or otherwise knows him or of his activities?

I’m sure you’re in favour of freedom of speech and opinion on this blog, as you no doubt are in all other areas of the world?
