Decade of Dissent 720

It is ten years since I ended my FCO career by going on the Today programme and blowing the whistle on CIA/MI6 complicity in torture. It was on my 46th birthday, and I was in my second year as an Ambassador and my seventh as a top Whitehall civil servant, a member of the Senior Civil Service.

Looking back now, what is most striking are the blatant lies by the FCO that they were not obtaining intelligence from torture. As the BBC reported:

In one he claimed MI6 had used information passed on to it by the CIA but originally obtained in Uzbek torture cells – something strongly denied by the Foreign Office.

I do not think there is a single person in public life or social media nowadays who would not accept that the FCO were simply lying. Jack Straw was blatantly to lie about it to parliament. But ten years ago the public and media knew much less than they know now. Nobody outside secret circles had ever heard the words extraordinary rendition. It was a year later – May 2005 – before the New York Times revealed the CIA was sending people to Uzbekistan to be tortured, precisely as I had stated.

It sounds incredible, but in October 2004 many people believed it was Craig Murray who was a liar, not Jack Straw. Again I do not think there is a single individual today who does not understand that Jack Straw was lying through his teeth. But back in 2004 life was hard for me.

After going on the Today programme I went on the run, in fear for my life. I am not paranoid, remember David Kelly. I first stayed with my old friend Andy Myles in Edinburgh, then I think Chief Executive of the Scottish Liberal Democrats. He was phoned the next morning by the FCO. When he denied knowledge of my whereabouts, they not only said they knew I was staying with him, they said which bedroom I was sleeping in. Ten years ago today I was hiding in Aviemore in the house of my old friend Dominic.

That was the start of a decade as a dissident where I have devoted my life to exposing, and trying to counter, the evil of the neo-conservative policy pursued by our political class at the behest of the corporations who fund them. I have suffered a huge loss in money, status and most of the other normal aspirations. But what I have gained is invaluable. I have respect and love, while Blair and Straw will forever be despised.

“@RoS: Of course, Miliband could try the heroic way (in the current climate!) of dropping in the occasional policy that looks like it could help the people, and hinder the corporate takeover of Britain.”

That’s right Peacewisher, I’m sure Miliband said something about taking the energy firms to task if he’s elected PM. Yet I recall he was Energy Minister under Gordon Brown, and as far as I can recall, no energy firm felt his wrath.

When I think of politicians I always think of a quote from the film “Hunt for Red October” I don’t know if you’ve seen the film its quite good.

Anyway the quote or line, whatever you wish to call it, goes like this, (Spoke to Jack Ryan) “I’m a politician, and when I’m not kissing babies, I’m stealing their lollipops.”

and the anxious voters who awaits a shed load of useful powers, will be bitterly disappointed.

    Republic

    Oh Jings!

Ive just submitted my 2p worth to the smithy commissariat expressing my hope that they may grant Scotland full powers over the tax revenues which accrue when the Scots are a bit late with returning their library books and are fined for being late.

My blood boils that, at present, these library fines are NOT retained in Scotland, but are sent south to london where they pay for these grandiose projects such as cross rail, new airport runways, which benefit no-one but the londoners!!

Never mind Nigel, if Westminster get they’re way, they’ll be no more libraries in Scotland nor late books to worry about, as services will be cut,to a slither. I’m sure Andrew Carnegie will turn in his grave if that day ever comes around.

Oh and if you still feel a bit of Panglossian optimism, this should dampen it, I’m pretty sure the House of Parliament are to undergo a £1.5 Billion pounds refurbishment, which is a lot of late library book fees….Hmm!

Iran and Russia tell us that 12 Nobel laureates have written to Obama requesting the publication of the Senate torture report. The BBC says nothing on the matter.

The media arm of the state strikes again.

    @RoS:

    Libraries gave us power
Then work came and made us free
What price now for a shallow piece of dignity

    I wish I had a bottle
Right here in my dirty face to wear the scars
To show from where I came

We don’t talk about love we only want to get drunk
And we are not allowed to spend
As we are told that this is the end…

“What’s racist about being anti-Zionist ResDis?”

Associating with world orders, the Rothschilds, Protocols of Zion and other related shit might be the clues you are looking for. Perhaps Doug might wish to offer his thoughts when anti Zionism steps over the boundary into anti-Semitism and racism if he has any – or is he so daft as to believe the two are mutually exclusive?

Mike, they don’t want the report over here. Cameron has already cancelled the Gibson Inquiry because the interim report portrayed our security services in a bad light. He also introduced the so-called Justice and Security Act (2013) to ensure that should any of those answerable to nobody be brought before the court that their versions of the truth would be heard without it being reported in the press. So much for an open society. They should have called it the Protection of Special Forces Act (2013). Call a spade a spade.

    A bit like Blair declaring that “the terrorists won’t change our way of life” after the London bombing, heck even Old Queenie had to repeat the same lie;

Interesting programme on Channel 4 tonight. Looking behind the scenes at the pilot scheme for Universal Credit (where everyone gets their benefits online, whether they like it or not, saving the govt a huge amount of money…) Well, that was the theory anyway. To cut a long story short… there are big problems.

Some concern that this will be rolled out nationwide before long.

GREAT NEWS, positive development and good precedent
Whenever anyone gets accused of “antisemitism”, let us drag the accusers to court… let us have them indicted for their slander
Give them a taste of their own medicine
It seems as if the people who imposed ‘thought policing’ on the rest of us, may have to start policing their own language.

French Jewish Leader Indicted for Labeling Dieudonné an Anti-Semite
CRIF chief Roger Cukierman: ‘For once, Dieudonné is actually comical’

In a video Roger Cukierman mis en examen le 20 octobre 2014 CRIF Roger Cukierman réagit à sa mise en examen sur plainte de Dieudonné Mbala Mbala pour diffamation, pour l’avoir traité d’antisémite à la Radio

posted Monday, Roger Cukierman, who leads CRIF—the umbrella group of French Jewish organizations and communities—announced that he had been indicted for referring to French comedian Dieudonné M’bala M’bala as a “professional anti-Semite” during a television appearance. Complaints of defamation almost always lead to indictments in France, the website L’Express explained.

Although he may complain otherwise, Dieudonné has not exactly gone out of his way to avoid the label. A gifted comedian, he was the “multicultural golden boy of French comedy” whose acts took a darker and more political turn over the past decade, often laced with anti-Jewish vitriol.

In recent months Dieudonné—who popularized the quenelle, a reverse Nazi salute so controversial one Frenchman was recently fined for performing the gesture—has himself been tried, and acquitted, for anti-Semitism.
The National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism has come out in support of Cukierman, releasing a statement calling the case “both a ridiculous and tragic matter.”
In the video, Cukierman said that he is “being indicted for having stated on Europe 1 that Dieudonné is a professional anti-Semite. Isn’t that funny?”
He added, “For once, Dieudonné is actually comical.”

Well, the law applies equally and impartially to everyone, whether a Jewish leader or a Holocaust denier. This is, indeed, one of the glories of our Western democracy and civilisation and something sadly absent in many of the countries so lauded on here by assorted Excellences.

To be noted furthermore that being indicted is not the same as being put on trial and even less the same as being convicted; it is merely a stage in the French judicial (criminal) process.

As the cut-and-paste itself points out, “in recent months Dieudonné ….has himself been tried, and acquitted, for anti-Semitism”.

Sorry to have to disappoint you, Mary. Or, to put it another way, rejoice that in the West the criminal law and the process of justice applies equally and impartially to all, and don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched.

Does anyone happen to know how “skunk” is dispensed?

If it’s from much smaller versions of the classic mobile water-cannons, then it could be a viable and also more cost-effective alternative to the water-cannons Mayor Boris Johnson is apparently considering. It could be just the thing for any future riots in London.

    Thanks.

Meanwhile in Wonderland aka Englandland a vole has leaked the results of a thorough magical internal investigation.
…The problems our chaps had in Afghanistan* were clearly the result of some mysterious spasm in the universe and had nothing to do with greed, arrogance and wilful stupidity.

Admittedly UK politicians, generals and the media made a few mistakes. There were well-intentioned judgements which, with the benefit of hindsight, might regrettably have been, in some respects, in error.

But since these had mostly been intended, to remove Al Quaida types, hitherto known as Mujahadeen, who had mysteriously turned from brave freedom fighters to deadly terrorists, none of the chaps were responsible.

Bad things had happened by spontaneous generation inside an invisible singularity the shape and size of Afghanistan. They were, of course to be regretted.

It is now time to move on…>

The leaker, IT Contractor, Big Frankie Zydeco Voletaire, has been identified but has so far evaded arrest. He is believed to have fled to Loouisiana, leaving no trace save for an enigmatic statement on his twitter account,

“Dudes who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.”

This is the last security camera footage of Big Frankie (on right) … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XsxdQW1s8E

If you see this man please report to Mr Resident Delusionist of the Ministry of Truth.

Noddy at 10.27 pm. Thank you for republishing the link to Gilbert Mercier’s great article on what happened to democracy. However, you clearly did not give yourself time to read it. Had you done so you might have learnt something. It is a waste of your parents’ money sending you to prep-school when you do not do the homework. After all it is not Douglas Hurd’s Mansion House speech trying to justify the first Iraq war. It is easy reading Noddy. Easy reading my boy. Now scan up and down on the pages. The quicker you do it the more it will ring the little bell on your blue hat. Tinkle, tinkle. 🙂

The elections might finally give Yatsenuk more legitimacy than just being the annointed one of Nulands.Well until the muppet opens his mouth. The CIA have really dragged the bottom of the barrel for this stooge.

  • nevermind, there's a future, still

Thanks for that peace wisher, so finally the truth is filtering out that MH17 was shot down by a western stooge Government, only to turn around and blame Putin for it, how predictable.

Yatseniuk will always be a western puppet, serving his interests first to please, but soon its winter and the harsh temperatures will focus minds on the lack of support Kiev is giving its people, they will question the effort and money that is being wasted killing civilians and Kiev’s soldiers, somebody’s son, on the other hand. Then they will question the hatred that is being poured on to Russia and what the lack of gas has done to Ukraine.

Kiev has plenty of money to wage war, rather than talk diplomatically with their eastern autonomous region, they have money for war by not a penny to keep their poor mothers warm, so how do they expect to survive the winter without more violence?
