I am well aware that Osborne has been redistributing money to the rich in his budget. I am also stunned by the idea that the state should see its role not as reducing regional inequality of wealth, but as reinforcing it through regional public sector pay rates.

But my days at the moment are like this. I get up at 7.30 am and after a very frugal breakfast I take a local taxi to the disastrously neglected and underfunded National Archive of India. I spend eleven hours there hastily transcribing from an enormous wealth of documents on Alexander Burnes – really beyond my wildest hopes – and then at 8.00pm the security guards kick me out, the curators having left some time ago. I get back to my budget hotel, take a light supper of imodium and activated charcoal, chat with Nadira, and then fall asleep exhausted.

    Had a good shout at the radio this morning on hearing weasel Straw talk about being in charge of refroming electoral lobbying.
    Jack Straws whole career is down to dodgy politics in his constituency, he and his dog Patel have been mongering consent for decades, hence no change at all, thats why we are in a dead end, because Labour and Cons. can’t be bothered to have it changed and end this troughing.

    I am wondering if militant atheist, Goncourt, is not a Zionist atheist? That tendency to single out exceptional behaviour by extremist Muslims, and attribute it to the moderate and rational majority (oh, yes, it is, Goncourt. Despite your efforts to alienate it) looks like propaganda to me.
    As a moderate atheist myself, and one who is pissed off with violent and arrogant extremists of every tartan – including militant atheists – I don’t think your frequent complaints ring true.

    Singers have no history of violence, no tendency that I know of to be especially malicious or cruel, no particular inclination to claim that they alone are unassailably right about everything and (insert name of wholly imaginary supersinger) will punish you horribly if you disagree. When we describe someone as a bad singer we don’t usually mean that they have an inclination to genocide. Yes, I could probably think of some aspects of religion, or some religious people who are ok – but I’d be cherry-picking.

    So you see why there is no money in the pot for the athletes to come over here and compete. Those amounts of men, and equipment needed to kill all those pesky Arab scientists needs a great deal of funding, hence the poor athletes have to be maintained by syanim in UK, or they will not get to come and compete, and probably beat our own athletes who are not as good in pulling on the correct levers of power and wealth.
