The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?
So they trap a Lebanese telco chap and jail him as a spy, by using the a phone number of a “taxi” transfer in France…
….who has a contract to do transfers for Alcatel-Lucent in france !
FYI on Alcatel’s business in Iran.
Alcatel-Lucent, which over the years has completed major telecommunications projects in Iran, still has a small amount of business in that country, company spokeswoman Mary Ward said. The company also has received contracts to deliver communications services to the Departments of Defense and Energy. The company’s federal contract totals do not include Lucent’s contracts prior to 2006, when it merged with Alcatel, because Lucent did not have business interests in Iran prior to that time.

No wonder Iran ended up with some dodgy kit once or twice.

Alcartel works for everyone. So does Allot. What about SSTL ?
Tim V 2:55PM, Bluebird 4:17PM – those links by one Tim Horgan posts – that he put in any number of places – have not worked for a long time. One of them is to the wedding picture those of you fast enough to download the one I pointed to already have (it disappeared again from Yehuda bello’s site). The other one was also to a photo stored on flickr that was scrubbed shortly thereafter. the Evernote site is another way to store photos for sharing but someone, somewhere must have had the means to clean that one as well. That photo was BTW one of ben Zygier, the supposed Dan Behrang, and others from IDF days – but seems to have now been permanently ‘disappeared” – and at the time I wasn’t quick enough to pick up for posterity. And who knows what happened to that Tim Horgan persona? (who BTW never before posted a comment on Richard’s blog* that I saw, nor after).
you will not find much on the person mentioned Dan Behrang.. There may be a trail left in Hebrew (since, as i mentioned in a comment above, israelis are addicted to living in a “hive” so they can never bring themselves to remove their own traces, and there’s always something left somewhere) but that’s hard to search from outside (unless well equipped), and also kind of not advisable since the hebrew on-line trails are just crawling with their own agents**, so I was given to understand by people I may or may not know (hey I know no-one – just you guys and gals here on CM monster thread – and when cornered I just start talking about The Matrix, which none of you ever want to hear about, most sadly….)***.
* Tim V – did you ever thank me profusely enough for bringing Tikkun_Olam here? (actually you did, but not so profusely?). One never knows, there may be more such gifts (or not), but i lack Bluebird’s generosity of spirit.
**i wouldn’t be surprised if those ‘agents’ are busy mostly checking on each other – that’s what they do in hives – every ant is a Stasi agent!

Bloggers were gossipping about a polar shift detected by US satellites and possible methods to retard it.
Leaving that aside, technology from SSTL could be invaluable for Iran. Was Chevaline a get out of gaol card to be used in extremis? Was Sylvain Mollier part of a Hezbollah/ MOIS- Iranian intelligence agency network? Was SM the first secret contact/ link along an escape route? Did SM suggest time and place? Who wouldn’t want Mollier’s role to be known? France.
Who wouldn’t want SAH’s or WBM’s role to be known? UK.

23 Feb, 2013 – 8:16 pm tikka what? There has been so much stuff recently my “computer’s” blown a valve. (You see how ancient it is) I really feel it’s time someone (U?) posted a really succinct summary of where we are. (“Where am I?”) Like the rambler, I believe we’ve walked over the buried treasure many times. We await the metal detectorist. And as for that delightful wedding group photo I have a copy I can always e mail if u want one.
We should not overlook that Bibi was central to the hi tech push:
“During his term as Prime Minister, Mr. Netanyahu implemented policy that combined fighting terror with advancement of the peace process. Its cornerstone was the conclusion of well-measured agreements with the Palestinians that insisted on reciprocity. During his three year term the number of terror attacks drastically decreased.
In the economic realm, Mr. Netanyahu led the liberalization of foreign currency regulations, accelerated privatization of government-owned companies and reduced budget deficit. During his term in office, the scope of foreign investment in Israeli high-tech industry reached billions of dollars per year.
After the completion of his term as Prime Minister, Mr. Netanyahu served as a business consultant to Israeli high-tech companies and was a popular speaker on the global lecture circuit.”
ME: Nor should we overlook the fact that he wanted to attack Iran in the summer of 2010 when Zygier was “safely” locked up. Perhaps he thought the damage done by him necessitated an immediate act of aggression?
“Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his armed forces to prepare a unilateral strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities in 2010, only to pull back from the brink of war, it was disclosed on Monday.”
“The Israeli prime minister and Ehud Barak, the defence minister, issued an order raising the military alert level to “P-Plus” – a rare command signalling imminent war, a documentary shown on Israel’s Channel 2 reported.
The alert order was opposed by Lt Gen Gabi Ashkenazi, the then chief of staff. “This is not something you do unless you’re certain you want to see it through,” Lt Gen Ashkenazi is said to have warned.
Meir Dagan, then head of the Mossad, Israel’s external intelligence agency, said the order was “illegal” and insisted that it be put to a vote in cabinet.
He said Mr Netanyahu and Mr Barak “simply tried to steal a decision to go to war”, according to Channel 2. The documentary describes Mr Barak’s furious response to the reactions of military chiefs.”

Interestingly Mossad opposed apparently.
Just watched “The men who stared at goats”. The only question: Are we the men or the goats? (lol) I think that’s enough for tonight. “Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” and all that jazz.
Incidentally that story about Bibi’s defied order to attack Iran in 2010 broke on …. wait for it …. “By Phoebe Greenwood in Tel Aviv 9:03PM GMT 05 Nov 2012”. Just another little coincidence. Same day as Chevaline of course and like the Zygier story it took two years to get out. Funny that.
Tim V 1;28 AM – Tikkun_Olam is the name Richard Silverstein gives his blog.
The idea of a summary is a very good one. I have started on something a while ago, but keep having to put it aside due to demands on my time. Still, hint is well taken – –
What i am trying to finish now is a grand, all-inclusive timeline of significant events in and just around 2010. I believe those may well be leading to Chevaline in 2012, directly or indirectly, and i want to have those handy in one place.
Now go and fix that “valve’ (or is it a fuse for a vacuum tube?)–
Thanks, Olifant. That was appreciated.

I checked World Net Daily to see what they said about Zygier. Not a word. When you search within their site and there are no hits it returns a list of Bible verses.

Russia is to try Magnitsky, who, like Zygier, died in prison, in post-mortem absentia. They claim there’s precedent for this because the English tried Oliver Crowmell after death, then dug up his remains for a proper execution. Is that why the French buried SM temp? 🙂

Oliphant – liked your summary and suggestions. We have been talking about the role of the different agencies here (Tim V especially plus yours truly) and we are pretty much agreed that at least three agencies are involved with France, and UK being two and the third being the killers. There could indeed be a fourth agency which is the one SM/SAH thought they were going to meet (with extraction as a possible ruse) but it got intercepted by the killers agency (#3) which took matters into their own hands. Indeed an intermediary with the FSB is a possibility for such a 4th agency. Your suggestion of french and britain being paralysed because of what SM and SAH roles respectively could reveal, is certainly a good reason for their eagerness to not solve the case.
However, both Tim V and myself noted that British and French also seem to act at cross purposed in so far as the cover up goes, with the Brits deliberately throwing a cog in the wheel (or rather, more than one). From the obvious reluctance of the british to support the french cover-up story it is quite reasonable to surmise that the british agency may be more than a little miffed at whatever transpired in Chevaline.
Tim V further suggested that, given the close collaboration between the British and Australian intelligence agencies, it is not implausible that spilling some beans to Boremann – the maker of that abc documentary – by an apparent Australian source, could be a way of showing the ire at Mossad’s dastardly actions at Chevaline. That would require only a hypothsis of Brits and Australians working sometimes in cahoots – not far-fetched at all. I would further suggest that there is some support for this conjecture from the timing of the australian disclosures – somewhere in the September-october 2012 timeframe (we don’t know exactly when, but the documentary itself strongly suggests that it would have been at least 2-3 months in the making, possibly more if we allow for time to identify and verify all the witness statements included). If this conjecture is right, then the brits (through the Australians who have their own reasons to be furious at Mossad) engaged in an amazing gambit as the disclosure of prisoner X affair has indeed caused enormous damage to Mossad.
So I support the idea that the timing of the disclosures about X is where the closest connection is between Chevaline and the Ben Zygier story getting out into the public domain. Ultimately, for anyone who digs into the curious X affair the key question should indeed be this; why did the Australians choose to blow it up at this time – about two years after the death of Zygier in a lonely cell? this can’t possibly be a coincidence, and the idea of Chevaline as a Mossad over-reaction that caused severe consternation among the anglo intelligence outfits is a possibility that should absolutely be entertained.
Also note that I brought the blogger yehuda bello into this picture mostly to show how badly people are scrambling in Israel to resurrect mossad’s tarnished image. This affair – or rather it’s disclosure – was a huge blow to Israel’s standing in all the places where it counts, whether people outside israel realize it or not.
BTW, I also happen to believe that Chevaline was one incident where the CIA’s role was limited. But the possibility of FSB is there (per the above). have no proof about either, just a hunch.

24 Feb, 2013 – 6:59 am as you know and Oliphant’s neat little summing up, though I am still hopeful the truth will eventually out. What it needs for it to become a national/parliamentary/press issue. Maybe the eventual Coroner’s Inquest will provide the necessary impetus. Any news anybody? If nothing else it may confirm cover-up but I have a feeling Brits are just biding their time on this one and deciding how to play it for maximum benefit, minimum damage. There is the ever closer military co-operation with France. Working together in Libya and now Mali. There is the big tie up between BAE and EADS still on the cards. Eurofighter and Airbus 380. British next generation nuclear power generation dependent on EDF and Areva, both of whom are cutting up rough. If we upset Israel we’re likely to upset the Americans and as always we’re clinging on to their skirts for a mulitude of strategic reasons. So how does an undercover operation and the deaths of two British passport holders (“not even true Brits”) weigh in the scheme of things. That’s why I think our response has been more “subtle” and of course totally deniable. Causing maximum embarrassment and disruption to Israeli covert operations and unilateral action against Iran. If we go to war, and USA holding back on that one, Europe and America don’t want to be forced into it by Israel.
Now as to that “Bibi wanting to go to war in June 2010” story – effectively a mutiny by top brass – you notice this also took a couple of years to emerge. What could be more politically damaging? Rather like the Zygier story, the question arises how given the high level of secrecy, how could the story get out except by an inside source? I bet there weren’t many in on that mutiny meeting! So we see the Israeli spy network in Lebanon ruined by the end of 2011. The refusal to attack Iran from summer 2010 breaks November 2012. The Zygier death story from December 2010 breaks January 2012. It makes a pattern don’t you think? Prompted in the first instance I would suggest by the Dubai assassination operation in January 2010 (also leaked) and the blatent use of foreign passports, and secondly by the the Chevaline murders? Well it seems to fit. The following extract is from “Fars News – Lebanon” so one would expect a certain degree of bias though nothing to dent the main thrust:
“In November, US officials acknowledged that Hezbollah has unraveled the CIA’s spy network in Lebanon and arrested dozens of informants, severely damaging the intelligence agency’s reputation and ability to gather vital information on the country at a sensitive time in the region.
US officials said several foreign spies working for the CIA had been captured by Hezbollah in 2011. The blow to the CIA’s operations in Lebanon came after top agency managers were alerted in 2010 to be especially careful handling informants in the Middle Eastern country.
A CIA-led program in the Middle East went up in the air after officials confirmed to news organizations that paid informants in Iran and Lebanon working for the US government had disappeared while attempting to infiltrate Hezbollah.
During the last two years, leaders of both Iran and Hezbollah have publicly announced the successes of their security and counterintelligence forces in uncovering CIA informants.
Iranian intelligence minister Heidar Moslehi announced in May, 2011 that more than 30 US and Israeli spies had been discovered and he quickly took to Iranian television to broadcast information explaining the methods of online communication that the agents would use to trade intel. Only a month later, Hezbollah leader Seyed Hassan Nasrallah announced that two high-ranking officers within his own organization had been identified as CIA spies. After several months, the US government confirm that not only is this information true, but they believed that the rest of their Hezbollah-targeted operations in the Middle East were compromised.
In June, Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said two of the group’s members had been arrested on suspicion of being affiliated with the CIA, and a third was held for working either for the CIA or for European or Israeli intelligence agencies.” http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9102113826

Blue…
Cheers for that on Arbor…and therefore “CloudBank” of course. This now gets interesting.
And your help is need more again.
You can do this better than I so I will pose this question to you.
Going back to Al Hilli on “LinkedIn” we see “Kingston Upon Thames” and the old Aviation stuff. Which is what was reported in the media…and therefore some dude has recreated (for whatever odd reason they had).
But there was another LinkedIn Al Hilli.
the Netherlands one.
His account seems to have been active (136 contact) and this doesn’t seem to have changed since Sept 2012…so active since that date and not after.
Looking at that account, it “tags” various details by which he could be contacted for work (as a contractor).
However NON which would say “aviation”…more to say “software developer”
Now, if Al Hilli was dead and in France…and had not cleared his account, is this the Al Hilli (Leonardo !) we are looking for ?
Could the clean up squads have removed his account quickly….OR have left it ???? (alter what he does, where he lives etc…give way to another “Al Hilli”).
Because then Al Hilli working in Rotterdam, into software and pehaps living in Claygate, England…changes “Leonardo’s” profession ?
Because then…we actually have alot.
I’ll highlight that more later. And a “conspiracy” in the true sense.
SSTL..Stedman…Allot…Isunreal…Iran..Oz….all included.
James
We discussed the Dutch al Hillis in the early weeks after that event has happened. I did always say that for both Saad and Zaid al Hilli from the Netherlands there do exist no fathers and no mothers and no grandparents at all. They look like non existing people, virginal birth or adopted orphans. These two linkedin models do not have any kind of ancestry. It’s as they would be fake. This could be accident that there do not exist ancestry records, or else these could be fake linkedin sites like the many linkedin sites that were registered for e.g. Maya Alon and for Ben Alon.
Personally I believe that the Dutch al Hilli sites are fake. But i cannot present any proof for that assumption other that they both don’t have a family, parents, etc. No records at all.
Marlin
Do we have some kind of link or approval for maya zalewski living in london? Or else is this just speculation?
James
I think that those are the pages you would like to investigate:
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/dir/Sa'ad/Al-hilli
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/dir/+/Al-hilli
http://nl.linkedin.com/pub/zaid-al-hilli/18/636/829
I believe that with some time of careful investigation it should be easy to eliminate the obvious fake sites.
Blue…
Then this (holding that the Dutch one has to be… !) is a true conspiracy.
It has taken “them” 136 contacts to make “him”.
Yet “he” does not exist ?
I asked a recruitment guy (not in the aviation feild) to search (obviously no UK Al Hilli could he find with that skill set) and the Netherlands one does look weak.
The thing is…the 136 contacts have to come from somewhere ?
Yet….
Our “Leonardo” came in as a “rush job” (forget the fakes).
Within a day..people searched for him (as people do).
But he’s not there. He isn’t (wasn’t) anywhere.
But he’s a “contractor” ????
That is a problem !
He isn’t a contactor. He isn’t on “anti Jewish sites”.
He’s “no where”.
Blue….
I have worked on this today.
And with a “Rec Guy” on how LinkedIn works.
All I can get is….the Netherlands guy…is the Leonardo that should have been the “one”, but wasn’t the one !!!!
I really think that.
A. What we think is going on, is right.
B. Al Hilli…wasn’t even “he” (them).
Bluebird, there was one comment I saw on Eyal Zalwski’s UTube channel with the cute movie about the talking parrot, who is obviously bilingual.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=To5wHwyfqAg
At this point that’s all I can provide, OK? the research continues….
BTW, that wouldn’t be surprising that with all the goings on maya would choose to go some place far from the pressure cooker. I did read on Bello’s twitter not too long ago that she ‘escaped” her home in Ra’anana shortly after the documentary hit the waves and the gag order was lifted. Can you imagine how many reporters/bloggers/twitterers were calling her asking for interviews? anyways, I think that comment was put up there deliberately. In any case, Maya is originally from the UK and it does seem that’s where her brother spends much of his time as well, though he did serve in the idf.
