The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?

In many ways, French Masonry has struck out on its own, ignoring the basic precepts of its Anglo-Saxon brethren and positioning itself as a counterweight to the deeply conservative Catholic and monarchist strains of French society. “Freemasonry has always had a political role in France,†says Pierre Mollier, director of archives at the Grand Orient de France, the country’s largest and most important lodge. “We would never tell people who to vote for, but we’re a moral authority.â€

BB, Q, Tim V, all,
I looked through lars’ summary at MZT (very valuable collation, I think – lots of material in one place). Found one piece that just stood out for me:
It;s about Suhaila al-Saffar, iqbal’s mother. They have her as having a PhD in Biology – from a university in London. I don’t recall this piece of information coming up here. was that ever mentioned and I missed it?
Tim V, I recall that scenario you threw out once about Suhaila perhaps being the prime target. You made some suggestions as to why that could be (forgot now what these were). Revisit perhaps her role?
It is certainly interesting that the female members of the al- Saffar family seem so highly educated.
This one certainly escaped my notice at the time.
“Abstract: Couple carrying fake Israeli passports said to have escaped hotel despite tight security. Duo allegedly involved in conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, four cabinet members
Two Israeli citizens arrested in Trinidad and Tobago with fake passports escaped from their hotel under mysterious circumstances last week, five months after being placed under tight security, the Trinidad Guardian reported earlier this week.
According to the newspaper, the Caribbean country’s authorities are looking into suspicions that the two – Robert and Anastasia – were somehow involved in a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and four members of her cabinet.
Anastasia 28, and Robert, 34, were first arrested in the tropical island of St. Maarten after raising the suspicions of local airport authorities, the report said. Nonetheless, the two were allowed to board a plane to Trinidad and Tobago.
They landed in the country on June 6, and were detained the next day while attempting to board a CAL flight to Toronto, Canada. The arrest was made possible thanks to an early warning received by local security services from the St. Maarten authorities.
According to the Trinidad newspaper, upon checking, security officers discovered that the photographs on the couple’s Israeli passports were totally different to their person.
“The passports were issued on January 26, 2004 in Rishon Lezion, Israel,” the report said. “The duo – pretending to be a husband and wife team – were destined for Canada, but was intercepted in St Maarten after being pre-checked.”
“St. Maarten did not do anything with them so they came here (Trinidad),” a source told the newspaper.”

5 Jul, 2013 – 12:53 am, but I’m still reeling from the new revelation that you are actually FEMALE! It’s very hard to concentrate on all the other stuff now. 🙂
I have always found the whole issue of mother-in-law strange and fascinating not least because there has been so little attention focused on her – always a reliable indicator of something more.
I think BB provided the family links back to Lebanon, Hezbollah and Iran. Just that alone is interesting enough. But why the apparent complete absence of interest from the Swedish authorities regarding one of there own? Why was she in Britain, for how long and did she intend to stay. Was she here on a visitor’s passport? Why accompany to France when she was unknown to the grand children it appears?
And then there is the strange case of her son Haidar. Did he come with her despite his unstable mental state and propensity to violence? What were the circumstances of him being sectioned so quickly and securely kept out of the way when they went to France. (My experience is Section 18 (I think) requires a couple of doctors and ability to appeal etc – not easy at all. Is he still incarcerated against his will or has he returned to Sweden? What is the relationship of the rest of the family to him?
If this latest info is reliable, we have a strong London link for both sides of the marriage. Then as it relates to Chevaline it scotches completely in my mind the “Al Hilli’s came upon an injured Mollier” theories suggested by some (including James (no offence intended) above) Why because in that back seat we have two highly qualified women with medical/biological knowledge yet they remain inside – indeed strapped in. It is irrational that SAH would get out with his little daughter to tend to an injured party whilst those with more appropriate knowledge/skills stayed inside. Anyway is it logical to think he would park up neatly first?
Just disconnected thoughts that may jog others to better ones.
We have discussed SM’s political views/affiliations along with his late father. The anti church/socialist/republican leanings of French Freemasonry are highlighted in the above references. That would seem to fit. Does it fit Gladio? Then there is a subtle link with the political power of French gun clubs that apparently were far more than just an innocent pastime! The extraordinary secrecy surrounding the Molliers (“the family deserves its privacy”) and as often the apologists on MZT were quick to point out (“EM is not allowed – French system” etc) does fit the Freemason ethos. Was SM a gun club member or no?

Okay. Initial reports suggested that Mollier worked at Ugitech, just down the road from CEZUS

That was later amended.
How about this hypothesis: This error was made because he used to work at Ugitech, making stainless steel rods, rebars etc., before moving on to CEZUS. That would make him what I see him as, a blue-collar worker in the metal industry.

Precision Castparts Corp. (PCP), the maker of metal forgings for jet engines, agreed to buy Texas billionaire Harold Simmons’s Titanium Metals Corp. (TIE) for $2.9 billion in its largest acquisition in almost two decades.
Titanium Metals stockholders will get $16.50 a share, 44 percent more than the Dallas-based company’s closing price yesterday, according to a statement. Entities controlled by Simmons have agreed to sell their 45 percent stake in the company, known as Timet, Precision Castparts said.
The deal, Precision’s largest since at least 1995, extends an acquisition spree under Chief Executive Officer Mark Donegan, who has overseen more than two dozen purchases in the past decade, data compiled by Bloomberg show. Planemakers Boeing Co. (BA) and Airbus SAS have urged suppliers to consolidate to help support record increases in jet output.

The Observer, Sunday 8 January 2006
“On 31 August a truck carrying 1,000kg of zirconium silicate supplied by a British firm was stopped by Bulgarian customs at the Turkish border on its way to Tehran, after travelling 2,400 kilometres (1,500 miles) from Britain, through Germany and Romania, without being stopped. Zirconium can be used as a component of a nuclear programme. According to one expert, it is used in nuclear reactors to stop fuel rods corroding and can also be used as part of a nuclear warhead. The metal can be extracted from zirconium silicate. It is because the compound can be used for military purposes that its trade is usually tightly controlled.
The fact that a British firm was allowed to sell the compound without scrutiny will raise questions for the British government over its controls on sensitive materials. Intelligence documents disclosed last week in the Guardian detailed how Iran is creating agencies and middlemen to procure equipment and know-how in Europe in a covert attempt to build nuclear weapons. The Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is expected this week to order the resumption of tests on machinery that can be used to make weapons-grade uranium.”

“Esfahan Uranium Conversion Facility
The Uranium Conversion Facility (UCF) at Esfahan contains process lines to convert yellowcake into uranium oxide and uranium hexafluoride. It began operations in June 2006.
According to information provided to the IAEA, Iran carried out most of its experiments in uranium conversion between 1981 and 1993 at the Tehran Nuclear Research Center (TNRC) and at other facilities at Esfahan. In 1991, Iran contracted to purchase a turn-key, industrial scale conversion facility from China. This contract was eventually canceled as a result of U.S. pressure, but Iran retained the design information and built the plant on its own. Construction of the UCF began in the late 1990s.
Fuel Fabrication Laboratory (FFL)
In 1985, Iran began operating a Fuel Fabrication Laboratory (FFL) at Esfahan that it commissioned from a foreign supplier. Iran informed the IAEA of the FFL in 1993 and provided design information in 1998. It is still in operation. According to the IAEA, the FFL is suitable for producing small amounts of fuel pellets.
Fuel Plate Fabrication Plant (FPFP)
On May 2, 2012, Iran informed the IAEA that it planned to combine conversion of 19.75 percent uranium hexafluoride to U3O8 and the manufacture of fuel plates of this material into one facility, though these processes were previously carried out in other facilities.
Zirconium Production Plant (ZPP)
Iran has built a Zirconium Production Plant (ZPP), which, when completed, will be able to produce 10 tonnes of zirconium tubing per year for nuclear fuel cladding. Construction started in 2004. The ZPP, according to Iranian officials, will be able to produce zirconium sponge, zirconium alloy strip and bar, magnesium, hafnium, 99.99 percent pure magnesium, zirconium alloys, titanium and titanium alloys, and can do ferrous and non-ferrous metal casting. Its operational status is unclear.”

OTHER NAME: Fuel Casting Plant; Fuel Element Cladding Plant
LOCATION: Isfahan (Esfahan)
SUBORDINATE TO: Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI)
Iran constructed this facility to produce the zirconium cladding necessary for the production of fuel pellets for the IR-40 heavy water reactor at Arak. [1] The metals and alloys produced in this facility are further processed at the Fuel Manufacturing Plant. The facility, reportedly constructed with Chinese assistance [2], has a capacity to produce 10 tons of zirconium tubing annually. [3] However, the plant’s operational status remains uncertain.

“Note on RBMK Fuel Rod Bundle
The RBMK has an unusual fuel design. The basic building block is a fuel pin, a long thin
pin of zirconium cladding holding the uranium dioxide fuel pellets. Eighteen pins are
arranged to make a fuel rod bundle as seen in figure 3. Each fuel rod bundle is 3.5 meters
long. The RBMK core is 7 meters high so 2 fuel bundles are joined together vertically to
make a fuel cell, 7 meters long. The fuel cells are suspended from the top of the reactor
core by a suspension system that is used to insert them and lift them out. The entire
assembly of fuel rod bundles and suspension is a fuel assembly.
In figure 1, President Ahmadinejad is examining the lower end of a fuel rod bundle that
appears visually identical in every way to an RBMK fuel bundle of 18 pins, spacers, end
caps, etc. Judging by the height of the people, this is a 3.5 m long fuel rod bundle and not
a fuel cell. The suspension is about 4 meters long.”

We have been here before considering this about SM but with the current discussion on MZT it appears as though SM did work for UGItech which was reported in Week 1 by the press. But why did the press later say that was an error?
It is far more likely that SAH and SM were known to each other before they were killed if UGItech employment is correct.

“We lost much of the Forum and the closing out summary. But to summarize – what we have learned on this journey is that the Iranians have produced fuel plates that fit in to square fuel elements and control rods for the Tehran Research Reactor (TRR). These are being tested in the TRR – standard type of testing for a new manufacturing capability. It would not be surprising if they ran in to some technical issue’s along the way and have to test a number of different fuel elements and control rods while they develop their process. An overview of the fuel elements, the amount of uranium, and production capability can be found at:

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran on Saturday accused the German technology company Siemens of planting tiny explosives inside equipment Iran bought for its disputed nuclear program, a charge Siemens denied.

Aladdin Boroujerdi, a prominent lawmaker, said Iranian security experts discovered the explosives and removed them before detonation. The authorities believe that the booby-trapped equipment was sold to derail uranium enrichment efforts, he said.
Siemens said its nuclear division had had no business with Iran since the 1979 revolution.
Any sale of nuclear equipment to Iran is banned under United Nations sanctions, raising the possibility that if the country indeed has some, it was acquired through third parties.
Mr. Boroujerdi did not say when or how Iran had obtained Siemens equipment. Despite a wide array of international sanctions, Germany remains one of Iran’s most important trading partners.”

The CIA began its own sabotage operation codenamed “Olympic Games”. Perhaps the most effective blow was struck in 2010 when the Stuxnet computer virus was infiltrated into Natanz, causing hundreds of centrifuges to spin out of control and explode.
Meanwhile, Israel openly threatened to destroy Iran’s nuclear plants from the air. Left unspoken was another key aim of the West’s efforts: America and her allies wanted to hold off Israel by showing there were other ways of derailing Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
But through all this, Tehran doggedly pressed on. The latest IAEA report shows that Natanz holds 12,669 centrifuges – compared with a few score in 2006 – and Fordow has another 2,710, although most are not yet operational.
The new satellite images showing an operational plant at Arak focus attention once again on a facility whose discovery began the confrontation with Iran. More than a decade later, Iran’s nuclear capability is still growing, while this unresolved crisis becomes more dangerous.
