Scotland’s Anti-Colonial Struggle 207

I have a meeting today in London with the Ambassadors of Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba, Nicaragua and Ecuador to brief them on Scotland’s continuing struggle for Independence. These nations have been at the forefront of the international movement against colonialism, and know all about the sharp end of neo-Imperialism and the evil-doing of the CIA and other western security agencies.

The test of the Independence of a state is nothing to do with domestic or regional government, or even with bilateral arrangements with the state from which it secedes. The test of Independence is, purely and simply, whether or not you are recognised by other states as independent. That is the very clear cut position in international law. For this reason, it is essential that Scotland reaches out, not just within the EU but to the entire international community. Ultimately we need these people to vote and lobby for us in the United Nations and other international institutions.

Frankly, the SNP is rubbish at this. I am doing this meeting because the hierarchy of the SNP spurned the approach from the Ambassadors, as previously detailed on this blog. This reluctance seems part of the hierarchy’s effort to be NATO friendly and thus CIA friendly. The Ambassadors would far rather be meeting with an official SNP representative than a nobody like me. Unfortunately the SNP won’t do it. That is a disgrace.

I can increasingly foresee, as Westminster governments move ever further to the right and encroach more and more on civil liberties, a situation arising where Scotland wishes to claim its independence without the consent of Westminster. In that situation, we will need all the international support we can get, just as the Palestinians have been making headway in UN institutions. Work needs to be put now into laying the foundations for that support. Personally I would characterise Scottish Independence as an anti-colonial struggle; use of Scots as British cannon fodder and integration of the Scots elite into the Metropolitan elite does not make Scotland any less a colony. Rome had san African Emperor, but still her African possessions were colonies.

But even for those who do not accept that analysis, there is no doubt that Scottish Independence would have a highly beneficial impact on the global balance of power. The weakening of the USA’s most powerful sidekick; the lessening of the UK’s ability to participate in illegal neo-imperial invasions and to host weapons of mass destruction; the re-opening of the question of the undemocratic Security Council structure at the UN.

Then there is also the positive role Scotland can play as a major contributor to UN Peacekeeping Forces, and a voice for sanity, reason, human rights and the pre-eminence of international law. An independent Scotland as a state party will be able to request the International Criminal Court to lay war crime charges against Blair and Straw for the illegal invasion of Iraq, which would be a powerful deterrent to future aggressive war.

I am but one man and a private individual. Everything I can do, I shall.

On rigging elections on the other side of the Atlantic…

    https://soundcloud.com/davidcnswanson/talk-nation-radio-harvey-wasserman-on-the-stripping-and-flipping-of-elections

It runs to 30 minutes, and if you’re interested in these things it’s well worth a listen.

Jeb Bush has just pulled out of the 2016 US presidential race (Jeb’s bid was highly entertaining, while it lasted). Jeb spent $150m million on his campaign.

There are presently about 50 million Americans without any healthcare cover whatsoever.

Something like 25% of all American children now live below the poverty line.

About 25 million Americans are now homeless. Many live in their vehicles, although there are now tent cities, ‘Obamavilles’, all across America.

America spends more than 60% of its yearly GDP on its military-industrial complex; almost more than the rest of the world’s military budgets put together.

The CIA, for example, is totally out of control, and has been for many decades now.

    America is a pariah state.

If we can cut the leash of America’s poodle, Britain, and, increasingly, to other European politicians, who give head to the dollar, we might find ourselves living in half-way sane societies.

    I’m not holding my breath.

    Habb.

And we are not convinced that your first or even poor second comment is on topic.

Please stop acting disrespectful to Craig.

If you’ve nothing to contribute, that’s fine just don’t clog up this thread with nonsense.

    Thank you ?

Why should you object to me agreeing with one poster and disagreeing with another?

If you think something’s off-topic you might consider taking up the matter directly with the original posters…?

  • RobG

Habba, you are a person of interest with regard to the totally corrupt and immoral pieces of slime that one finds under a stone, pieces of slime who are going to be held to account (make no mistake about that).

Maybe you can explain why the good ole USA spends more than 60% of its yearly GDP on its military-industrial complex; almost more than the rest of the world’s military budgets put together?

I know, that nasty CIA/MI6 creation called ISIS, are really, er, nasty; and that’s why we have to have tens of thousands of thermo-nuclear weapons on hair trigger alert; because ISIS, all dressed in black, in the white desert, might fire thermo-nuclear weapons at us from those shiny, American-supplied 4WDS, as they wave their shiny, American supplied weapons.

    It’s comic book stuff…

    Afraid not, Robbo.

BTW, how do you define the “military-industrial complex” to get to your 60% figure? Please share.

    ********************

    DGSI….

  • RobG

Habba, I’ve only used the term ‘a person of interest’ because you were the one (as far as I’m aware) to first use it on this board in order to openly threaten people, as though me and others would give a toss whatever Military Wank you work for.

The 60% percentage of US GDP directed entirely to the US Military-industrial complex is well documented…

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_military_expenditures

Please note that the above link does not include figures for the CIA, DHS, and on and on in the ‘war on terror’ (hah!).

With regard to the DGSI, it’s an outdated term for what I suppose you might call the French equivalent of the CIA and MI6; all complete psychos who act totally outside the law.

There’s now an extra-extended state of emergency here in France…

    http://www.dw.com/en/france-extends-state-of-emergency/a-19052907

… in which these lunatics are allowed to do anything they want.

I would have laid even money on Britain to become the first full-blown police state in western Europe.

I know, Habba, you must be so disapointed.

  • Chris Rogers

    @Habbabkuk,

Given the coward you are, would you like to identify yourself, behave like a man and allow myself the pleasure of knocking your block off for the insults your have hurled at my family.

Now, as the coward you are, please give us more of your shit, but let me be blunt, your racism and low swipes mean I’m gunning for you in real life. You abuse my family and you will pay.

    And it’s not a bloody threat, it’s a reality.

Now come on man, identify yourself so I can meet with you and sort out things as men usually do – its what you deserve and I’ll be pleased to provide it – you are an utter disgrace.

  • Rob

I suppose it is a trick of rhetoric to take a loaded word like “colonialism”, then exaggerate and distort it into a linguistic weapon and lob it at the enemy.

For an entertaining description of what “colonialism” actually looks like, I suggest digging into i-player and finding the recent prog. about the young Rudyard Kipling in india.

  • BrianFujisan

Thanks for all your work for our Independence Craig. Sure is Appreciated…And Don’t call yourself a Nobody type… That you can sit down with some of the Most Iconic souls of our time.

what’s going on at SNP that they were not interested in this reaching out process… and thanks to the South Americans for Being interested.

Whats Going on at SNP…Dallying over Fracking…

I thought these few lines from James Kelly @ Scot goes Pop – to be interesting

” The Yes campaign was by any standards an extraordinary phenomenon – and yet its only concrete achievement was the Smith package. (I know some people would say the SNP landslide was also a direct result of the Yes campaign, and that’s true, but election results are ephemeral.) If the new powers had never materialised, there was a danger that we could have ended up looking back at the 2014 referendum as an event that ultimately achieved absolutely nothing – which is pretty much how the sovereignty movement in Quebec look back at their near miss in 1995.

It may well be that the UK government honestly thinks that more devolution is in itself a trap for the SNP – but they’re wrong, just as every previous UK government transferring powers as a “brilliant tactic” has been proved wrong. Consider this, for example – how much harder is it going to be for the BBC to resist the case for a Scottish Six now that income tax rates will be entirely set in Scotland? How can a one-size-fits-all “national” news programme broadcast from London possibly cope with that degree of asymmetric devolution?”

  • mike

Sorry for O/T: Syrian ceasefire and closing Guantanamo. Is this Obama ending on a high? Perhaps nothing Rubio or Hillary can’t “fix” in a few months time.

  • glenn_uk

Mike: The closing of Guantanamo will not happen, not under O’bomber, anyway, for three main reasons:

1 – The filthy Republicans will oppose anything Obama wants to do on general principles (as they have done for the last seven years).

2 – The cowardly Republicans would never have these “evildo-ers” on the US mainland (even in “Supermax” jails), because they’d be accused by even more hysterical teabaggers/ Republicans of bringing the weak and fragile US of A into danger.

3 – Guantanamo is a popular campaign rhetorical ploy, so the faithful can be enthused with promises by Repugs on the campaign trail to put half the world’s Muslims there.

    Glenn,

That person has slighted both my wife and my daughter, which is not acceptable behaviour.

I’m respectfully asking the person clearly identify themselves so the matter can be sorted out.

I note CM usually does the same, but most who hurl abuse at him on Twitter do so by not hiding in shadows, nor have they abused his wife.

I’m respectfully calling out the Troll to identify themselves clearly and stand by their comments, in which case I’m obliged as a man to defend my family – which in this case is what I desire to do.

We have a strict moral code in working class communities and the person whom I’m referring too has broken that code, so now I’d like some payback as real men are want to do.

  • glenn_uk

Habbabkuk: “Wind you up like what? Please supply evidence in the form of quotation(s) or shut up. 🙂

I would have thought the fact that Mr. Rogers has been wound up, and the particular state therein, is rather self evident. I’m surprised that you ask such a stupid question!

  • Chris Rogers

    @Habba,

Your bollocks does not work with me, both you and I are aware of your insinuations, I’m calling you out on them and asking for satisfaction.

Now, you are a fucking coward and one does not make idle threats – now identify yourself.

And as for drinking, I’ve had no alcohol whatsoever in my system since the 30th of December – so please don’t use that shit.

I perfectly understand where you are coming from, so please, have the grace and decency to clearly identify yourself and then we can proceed to sort the matter out as men. Not too much to ask of someone like you is it?

Unlike Mary, I’ll back up what I say with force, not idle threats – so identify yourself for the world to see you snivelling piece of shit.

Chris, as one trying to be a pacifist I cannot condone this murder. As to Habbabkuk’s insults being ignored it is not quite true. Every so often he gets a ban. He used to try to come back as another entity, but his cover was always blown by the nonsensical answers. Nobody really knows who he is but Craig lets a few loose to stimulate sensible answers for those prepared to engage. My own research indicates that he has access to multiple computers and may work somewhere quite secretive. Here is the profile as known so far.

His minions at work call him Noddy (not his real name. But then it wouldn’t be would it?)
His ‘education’ is ongoing at the famous public school, Blyton, or is it Bogwarts,
where he is repeating the first year.
His school project is collecting information on the underlying structures of bridges.
There is only one known picture of him.

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/127161425@N07/16930425877/in/dateposted-public/

Although a pacifist if you promise not to kill him can you let me know where to get a ticket for the spectacle. 😀

Seriously though you are right. He has very little, if any, sense of public decency. Insulting people seems to make him happy while the rest of us are seeking justice in the world he gets his kicks from insulting those who seek justice. If you can ignore him it is best!

I’m not the best person to lecture you on this particular point, because I’ve fallen foul of the very sentiment and gone down this same route on this very blog myself. (Just between us – surely it’s not because we’re both from South Wales!)

However – it is very unproductive, and one doesn’t feel much has been accomplished by giving such vent to one’s emotions. It also allows others to see an angle for making another appear unreasonable, however principled one considers the response to be at the time.

As a general rule, it’s best to provide as little personal information as possible on these forums. It only provides levers for the mischievous and ill-willed.

    I agree.

If you’re an ex-pat in France you will probably know that it’s still probably 50-50 of the French who buy into the bullshit, which is quite remarkable, considering the air of terror.

I live in a very rural part of France, and most of my French neighbours think that all this terrorism stuff is total bullshit.

Not at all, my delightful correspondent. I was responding to your direct question, although not in the way you might have wanted. That’s what pedants do when they want a bit of fun, and do a bit of a winding-up by way of return 😉

  • Chris Rogers

    Habbashite,

You are called out. Please identify yourself, please instruct where I can have my satisfaction and we’ll proceed.

I’m not one for threats I’m afraid and persons like you deserve a baseball bat taken to them or crowbar, both of which I’m very willing to do given jail time does not deter me, nor fill me with fear.

I’ve noticed that you’re at bottom quite a trusting fellow. And why not, it’s not a bad quality – although it can lead one astray.

But tell me, seriously – do you really believe “Chris Roger”‘s story? Do you really believe he’s what he says he is and that he’s in Hong Kong?

He’s as fake as another gentleman from across the waters.

    Think about it.

  • Tony_0pmoc

I am amazed that several people here have sussed Paris…I followed it very closely at the time. However, I am not convinced that no one died in Paris. They may well have killed a few people too. A great deal of it was outright fakery at an even lower standard than Woolwich which Chris Spivey got in big trouble for – well simply pointing out the obvious in great detail – it was hardly rocket science if you know anything photography.

Chris Rodgers – I see the Slug hasn’t changed. Just ignore it.

I must be losing interest in all this insanity, and had no idea that France is still under a State of Emergency. I thought that only lasted the weekend. They haven’t arrested John Ward yet (The Slog) and he slags off nearly everyone – often with great style. He did however use to play for a Jewish football team in Ancoats, Manchester on a Sunday morning, so maybe he gets a free pass, even though he was sort of brought up as a skint Catholic.

In case you are confused, there is no connection between the Slug, and the far more intelligent Slog

My Ex says there something going on about this in Westminster again – tomorrow??

    https://hat4uk.wordpress.com/2016/01/07/late-result-waspi-158-camerlot-0/

“It’s often said that there is pride before a fall, but if ever a bunch of people deserved to be proud of what they achieved today, then it’s the Women’s pension action group WASPI and the 158 MPs who pitched up in the Commons to vote 158-0 against the clauses condemning some 50,000 UK female citizens to live in destitution for the next six years, having been told for almost the entirety of their lives they would get a State Pension at 60.”
