The War for Greater Israel 440

There has scarcely been an attempt to pretend any justification in international law for the attack on Iran and murder of its leader. The response of the UK government, focusing almost entirely on condemning Iran for exercising its legitimate right of self-defence, takes the Starmer dishonesty meter further off the scale.

The RAF has been actively involved in genocide in Gaza for two years with its surveillance and logistic support for the IDF. It is now fighting for Israel again; intercepting Iranian missiles is not defensive; it is joining in the attack on an already vastly overmatched opponent.

I am afraid that the truth is the Iranian attempt to defend itself militarily will be less impactful than many anti-imperialists hope. The astonishing amounts of money spent by the US government on military and surveillance technology simply do have real-world effect.

Here in Venezuela, having seen the major sites struck by the US on 3 January, I have concluded that no act of betrayal was needed. Just overwhelming force and precision technology applied against a technologically unequal opponent whose key capabilities were all on open hilltops or in unhardened barracks.

Iran is much more militarily sophisticated, but facing exponentially more force. Khamenei was killed in his own home, not hiding away. He is going to prove a lot more powerful as a martyr than as a ruler with his internal critics.

We are facing not only a period of unapologetic imperialism to which virtually all Western countries are prepared to defer, but a return of medievalism, both in the sheer barbarity and scale of physical abuse, as witnessed in Gaza and in general Israeli brutality, and in use of kidnap and murder as methods of high policy. Legitimising the killing and kidnap of leaders of opposing states is of course a double-edged sword.

Having sanctioned genocide, mass killings and deliberate destruction of medical facilities and staff, the mass murder of children, as well as the kidnapping and murder of Heads of State, it is hard now to imagine almost any atrocity which the Western powers are in any moral position to condemn.

While Iran’s military ability to strike back is limited, the ramifications of this attack will not be. The rulers of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states have reverted to the norm of being not only reliable US and Israeli satraps, but promoters of atavistic hatred of Shia Muslims.

The West is deliberately exploiting the Shia/Sunni divide, as it has for centuries; but this will now destabilise the region for decades. Iraq in particular is going to be convulsed, and so will Pakistan. In Bahrain, the Shia population has been held in check by its Sunni rulers using systematic Western-sponsored murder and torture. Using it as a base to murder the Ayatollah is going to blow back.

It would appear that we are going to witness an aerial campaign to destroy Iran’s civilian infrastructure, as in Iraq where 65% of clean drinking water, 50% of hospitals and clinics and 80% of electrical generation was destroyed by “liberation” by the NATO powers. The object is the destruction of Iran as a viable state.

It is worth recalling that Iran used to be a Western-style state with a reasonable democracy. It was the election of the Socialist Mosaddegh in 1951, and his nationalisation of British Petroleum, which was met by the MI6- and CIA- sponsored coup of 1953. The vicious and vainglorious rule of their puppet Shah was the cause of the theocratic revolution.

Escalating Western sanctions were imposed by the US or EU on Iran in 1979, 1984, 1995, 1996, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2025. There were UN-approved sanctions imposed from 2006 to 2010. These very substantially hampered Iran’s economic development.

The curious thing is that the founding myth of the Western powers is that economic development leads to an expanding, educated middle class which promotes both economic and social liberalism and produces the conditions for democracy. By this reading, if you wished to cement in power an authoritarian government, then limiting economic development is the way to do it. There is something in this reading; I do not doubt that the West’s relentless efforts to strangle Iran – which have had some real success – have hampered its political development.

That is not to accept all the Western myths about Iran. Female education is very strong, and there is extensive female participation throughout economic and governmental institutions. Iran has an extremely good record of tolerating and even supporting minority religious communities, including the Jewish community. There are plenty of women in Tehran without head coverings – Iran is far more tolerant in this regard than Saudi Arabia. While it retains a retrograde intolerance of gay people, it acknowledges gender dysphoria and assists trans people.

I am not prepared to give a moment of countenance to arguments that bombing Iran back to the nineteenth century is going in any way to improve the lives of its people. It did not do so in Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya. It was a disaster which unleashed waves of refugees upon Europe, leading directly to the rise of the far right.

I think it is unlikely to change the form of government in Iran in any significant way. Regime change by bombing is a highly problematic concept.

What it has done is to remove Ayatollah Khamenei, whose fatwa on the creation of a nuclear weapon was the only reason Iran does not have one. It is delusional to believe that Iran, with its excellent scientific base, could not have developed nuclear bombs in secret away from those monitored enrichment programmes, had it chosen to do so. What is likely to result in the medium term from this conflict, if it long continues, is a more primitive, more atavistic and nuclear-armed Iran.

The Iran nuclear deal torpedoed by Trump in 2018 had provided a rare moment of hope. With sanctions easing, there were chances of both smoother economic development and reform in Iran. That is why Israel wanted the agreement scuppered.

The attempted obliteration of Iran is part of a systematic attempt to eliminate by physical force all pockets of resistance to American hegemony. We have seen Rubio’s astonishing assertion of Imperialism as a positive force. Matthew Lynn in the Washington Post exemplified the new Western doctrine. He mocked China for its pacific policy. He argued that for China to build infrastructure for the Global South was futile because the United States might simply seize, blockade or destroy any infrastructure by military force. This he viewed as not shameful, but a great triumph.

What long-term lessons China, Russia and the Global South are learning from the abandonment by the entire West of the principles of international law, we shall see in the decades to come. None of this is going to be good for anyone. It is not just a Trump phenomenon. Biden fully supported the Gaza genocide. Almost all major political parties throughout the West are under firm Zionist control, as is all of the significant major media and the ownership of every significant alternative media platform.

Iran has provided, directly and through proxies, the only military opposition to the creation of Greater Israel. This war is for Greater Israel. But it is also a wider effort to re-establish the failing economic dominance of the United States by military control of key resources. There is no part of the world which will be safe from the fallout.

There’s a chance for a photographer here. Snap some of the obnoxious rich British (and not only British) thickos fleeing Dubai for Saudi, all Gucci bags and shoes, with their fake-boobed teenage brats on smartphones trying to “influence” people on Youtube, unaware of how many hundred miles it is to the nearest brain cell. “Super-aware though of all the latest offerings from major fashion brands such as Apple. Gotta have some sympathy on some level with the British soldiers tasked to stay in the same room as such people during the evacuation. British military kit is known to be crap, but the squaddies could do with some clothespegs in this instance for their noses.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/01/dubai-missile-drone-attack-iran-us-israel-war-middle-east

““At first we thought it was fireworks,” said Natalia Veremeenko, who was staying near the Fairmont The Palm, a five-star resort whose entrance caught fire after what appeared to be a drone strike.”

““A state of emergency, but make it fashion,” wrote one Russian lifestyle blogger, posting a photograph of herself in silk pyjamas from a hotel basement.”

No, love, it’s not fireworks. And soon all your fashion will be worth precisely shee-yit.

Oh, this is a special cohort of women trying to attract the attention of internet users. They post photos of their luxurious lives here and there on social media, always including their barely-covered private parts 🙂
Lacking education in fields where society would be willing to pay for their skills or intellectual efforts, they earn money from what their mothers, fathers, and nature have given them.
Each one claims to be involved in the beauty industry, fashion, alternative psychology, or is a blogger, or more often than not, a combination of all above. E.g., Natalia may show you special spiritual practices in special Places of Power, or some kind of dance therapy.

Overall, it’s a sad story about women seeking validation of their own worth.
My husband had been getting his hair cut by one of these women for several years, and last week he asked me to book an appointment at a different salon. Because he simply can no longer bear to be told another story about how his hairdresser once again hunted a discount on a last-minute tour to Eastern countries. He can’t bear to see photos from her trip, her striking poses in hotel interiors, and hear testimonies confirming her feminine charm among Eastern men.

And this isn’t just my opinion. The most popular Russian social network, Pikabu, has been making jokes for two days now, and the Dubai tag is invariably combined with the word “escort.” Here are a couple of pictures for you

Of interest Iran blew up Netanyahu’s office – the numero uno Zionist’s plane – the Wing of Zion is sitting on the runway of airport in Germany, no doubt Netanyahu is also in Germany – which is a Zionist, genocide embracing regime.

    • Yuri K

Germany has “a special obligation to defend Usrael”, the Chancellor announced. They are trying to erase their guilt of killing the Jews by supporting the killing of Arabs.

  • Republicofscotland

They can’t even admit a truth – that everyone else knows, talk about the Emperor and with no clothes on.

“U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth: “We did not start this war”

    • Jack

On par with this gaslighting, zionist commentator Rachel Maddow:

“So why did Trump start this war?
      Cui bono?
      Who benefits?
      Who really wants this war?
Who want Iran wiped off from the map?
      And for their own reason?
Who are Iran’s rivals and enemies?
      ….
      The gulf arab states!

      Video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DVXV6EqiHXv/

It is disgusting how manipulative zionists really are.

      • Republicofscotland

        Jack

On cui bono, definitely Israel, and US corporations – which are queuing up to get access to Iranian oil and minerals – they need to subdue Iran first, then install a US/Israel/Western friendly puppet.

  • Republicofscotland

Apparently – the US moved all its defence equipment from its dictatorship satraps in West Asia to Israel, to defend the genocide committing illegal occupying force, also there are reports – that Trump has moved his military planes to Cyprus, hence the below.

“Greece is sending two warships and two fighter jets to protect Cyprus following the drone attack on the RAF Akrotiri base.

Let’s see the reaction of Turkey”

      • Xylo76

And when Craig was on the Cyprus desk, he would have opened letters from Greek Cypriots asking what the UK was doing as a guarantor of Cyprus independence to pressure Turkey to remove its troops from Cyprus.
The reply would would have been the usual bullshit, blah blah blah, doing all we can.
It’s more clear to me than ever before –

Israel cannot be allowed to fail.
Cyprus and it’s people were never in control of their destiny and they probably never will.
Decent simple people manipulated by Imperialists, warmongers, traitors, and a constitution forced on them, the like never implemented anywhere else in the world.
Cypriot independence and the involvement of guarantor powers was a disaster and the UK managed to keep Sovereign land on the Island to use as bases for ever for situations as we have right now.

Trump was throwing his toys out of the pram recently regarding the UK and Chagos Islands situation, well I’m sure the Usa where putting massive pressure on the UK especially in the 50’s and 60’s that Cyprus and it’s people could not, and would not be allowed to follow whatever path they wanted.

        • Stevie Boy

Israel cannot be allowed to survive. Israel is a cancer and needs to be excised, there is no other cure.
In the 50s and 60s, during the cold war, the Cyprus UK bases were listening posts monitoring the ME and Russia with direct links to GCHQ.
That hasn’t changed. But, now the USA (NATO) and Israel is much more active on the island.
It’s also worth recalling that the so called Turkish invasion of Cyprus, in 1974, was directly caused by NATO/CIA activities in Greece and the subsequent plans of the Greek Generals to place missiles threatening Turkey on Cyprus.

  • MARK M CUTTS

    Oh The Fog of War.

They did this – we did that and so on.

What I see on Al Jazeerah is unbelieving presenters and commentators bleating about being targeted by Iranian Missiles.

    Why?

Because the US had lots of Military bases in the Bleaters countries which have ben and still are used to bomb Iran.

    And bomb Gaza of course.

The Aussies talk about ‘ Whinging Poms ‘ – this is The Gulf Sates version of Whinging Gulfers.

Any way – ‘ I have Plan Trump ‘ – is finding this hard going despite being Mighty and he and his backers have now opened many Pandora’s Boxes in the region.

You can not occupy a country from a ship or a plane or a Missile.

You have to put Boots On The Ground.

There are no sizeable numbers of Pro US/New Shah people to start this ‘ Revolution’ so as usual with Uncle Sam some other Schmuck Proxies have to the actual physical fighting on the ground.

Starmer has volunteered in his own inimitable ineffectual way just to please Trump.

I believe the IDF is planning on doing a few forays Up North in Lebanon.

Taking on a ‘weakened ‘ Hezbollah as they are frightening Givir and his fearful fellow Occupiers because, they are near Lebanon.

Bad luck with that I say.

How it will pan out I don’t know but in the energy sphere a lot of people’s Gas and Petrol Prices are about to rise rapidly.

One thing seems clear to me – Trump is in old Regime Change Mode and it looks like Iran have learnt some lessons form last time.

It’s ‘ongoing’ as they say in the War Trade.

    • Nota Tory Fanboy

      Starmer is a whore.

Trump is MAGA’s unsober, paedophile-protecting, anti-constitutional, fascistic “ayatollah” with his own fanatical IRGC-equivalent.

  • Goose

Iran needs to seek help from allies’ Russia and China at some point if this unprovoked war of Israeli and U.S. aggression continues? The US and European NATO states have provided Ukraine w/ over $350 billion in military aid and claim that military support doesn’t amount to their direct involvement in the conflict, so what’s to stop China and Russia doing the same?

This could be Trump’s Vietnam; as the latest reports suggest he’s not ruling out the dreaded ‘boots on the ground’. If the U.S. brings in conscription, maybe Barron can get tips from Dad on draft-dodging?

    • Republicofscotland

      Goose.

This is interesting, and an insight as to why Iran’s military is still able to function with it head chopped – off, (the ayatollah etc)

“Turns out Iranian retaliatory strikes on Israel and U.S. military bases across Middle East are decentralised.

Iran is publicly accepting activating its DECENTRALISED MOSAIC DEFENCE DOCTRINE.

They have been planning this structure for a long time in events like their main leader being taken out. Which just happened!

This means the IRGC is now restructured into numerous largely autonomous operational units each with full autonomy for decision-making and operations during this war.

They no longer need any real-time approval from central authorities in Tehran

US military officials are expressing serious concern about who exactly is leading these attacks from Iran and who truly controls the weapons systems now. They either genuinely don’t have a clue, or they’re pretending not to know to avoid admitting the situation is slipping.

decentralised setup directly explains the otherwise baffling attack on Oman (a neutral mediator that Iran had deliberately spared until now)

Iran is accepting it was likely one of these independent provincial or regional commands acting on prewritten, pre-delegated instructions without higher oversight or adjustment for diplomatic consequences that attacked Oman.

      Trump should be very worried.

This is not a centralized leadership they can assassinate or decapitate anymore….it’s a fragmented, resilient network that keeps firing even without a head. Escalation could get unpredictable fast.”

      • Goose

        RoS

        Interesting.

My guess is, Trump was probably told the regime would fold like a cheap suit, and… it still may. But that seems increasingly unlikely because Iranians, even those privately critical of the regime, have seen what happened in Libya, Iraq and Syria. They don’t want a civil war and the Balkanisation of their country. On this, it was interesting, how in the BBC live interview with former Israeli PM, Naftali Bennett, when the Sky news presenter put to him, the fact there wasn’t a plan in place, asking, “what if Iran falls into chaos for years?” Bennett fought to hold back a smile; because…that’s exactly what Israel and western Zionists want : chaos. An internal scrap between rival factions, as it allows them to get on with the Greater Israel expansionism, untroubled by Iran and aligned groups.

As for ‘boots on the ground’. I think a good argument can be made that anyone who dodged the draft five-times, doesn’t have the moral right to send anyone else’s son into battle. He didn’t even seek Congressional approval, as he’s meant to under the constitution.

        • Republicofscotland

          Goose

Yes, I take it the Iranian hierarchy, might have predicted their demise – so this plan was laid out prior to the illegal attack on Iran by the US and Israel, maybe that’s why Iran has attacked around 15 nations so far – (including US airbases), I think there’s 31 provinces in Iran or there abouts, so I suppose commanders in each region are working say – semi-autonomously, when launching attacks across the region.

          • Jen

            Republic of Scotland, Goose,

Hezbollah and Hamas operate in a similar way. Hezbollah did not fold when Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was assassinated in 2024 and its organisation has always resembled a decentralised network of semi-autonomous cells whose members only have to know Hezbollah’s aims and objectives, but otherwise make their own decisions. Likewise, Hamas operates as a network of semi-independent groups which makes the task of getting rid of Hamas incredibly difficult for the IDF.

I understand that Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei put a succession plan in place in mid-2025 that delegates his authority to a number of councils (one including Ali Larijani) in the event of his assassination. Likewise, the way in which power and authority are spread through Iranian political and military structures is deliberately diffuse with institutions apparently having overlapping functions, and with redundancy built into the entire system: this is to prevent power being consolidated into one institution, one position and one person.

          • Stevie Boy

Whatever one thinks, when the attacks started Khamenei didn’t run away, but Bibi did.

        • Bayard

“As for ‘boots on the ground’. I think a good argument can be made that anyone who dodged the draft five-times, doesn’t have the moral right to send anyone else’s son into battle. He didn’t even seek Congressional approval, as he’s meant to under the constitution.”

Perhaps he should remember the fate of Charles I, when he tried to rule without Parliament.

          • Goose

They’ve probably lost the opportunity to do ‘boots on the ground’ if they’re crazy enough to risk it with the midterms looming. This war is so unpopular already, because US citizens know Iran was zero threat to the U.S., Trump, remember, said we may have a deal to announce soon, so the idea there was an imminent threat and talk of Iran being unreasonable in negotiations, is revisionist nonsense from the Trump administration. Of course, Iran probably insisted on its rights under the NPT being respected , as any country would, that’s not being unreasonable. If Iran doesn’t now pull out of the worthless NPT, I’d be amazed.

It was nigh on impossible already, because of Iran’s size, geography(mountainous) and there was no staging country that wanted involvement in another Middle East war. They’d need nearly anything from 500k to a million troops to stabilize a country the size of Iran. And as said, Iran is like a fortress, very mountainous. They used Kuwait as a staging ground for Iraq(2003) for 150k troops , Iran is three times the size of Iraq and thrice as populous. But as I say, the war has started, and they can’t gather troops and hardware during a war, not under fire.

          • Nota Tory Fanboy

Goose, there won’t be midterms if the Republicans declare Martial Law and use their political rivals/”dissidents” as cannon fodder (“boots on the ground”)

        • Goose

Correction. That should be BBC presenter, don’t know why I put Sky News ? Maybe because I find Sky News equally annoying, though not as annoying as GB News, which is dreadful,… more like a pound shop wannabe Fox News. They moved Al Jazeera to a internet only data channel – a deliberate move surely, to limit viewing?
The BBC should be completely impartial, but they are allowing people to repeat the widely debunked claim 30,000 – 40,000 protestors were killed, without challenge. I’d wager if someone exaggerated the Gaza death toll by a factor of 10, the presenters would quickly jump in to correct.

Does BBC verify only exist to serve and assist the govt’s propaganda effort? Why allow people to lie, when something as serious as war can be the result?

          • Stevie Boy

            Why lie ?
It’s the Israeli zionist mindset, lie, lie and lie again. Six million lies aren’t enough and now if you’re a zionist puppet you must prove yourself by lying for your masters. Starmerstein, Lammystein, Trumpstein, Carneystein, Albanesestein, they’ve all proved themselves worthy.

          • zoot

BBC Verify has likewise never investigated the entirely debunked Oct 7 ‘mass rape’ hoax, the primary lie still being promoted to justify the Gaza Genocide.

Coincidentally (?) it has emerged that the British government paid Israel £90,000 to produce its Oct 7 mass rape hoax and atrocity propaganda report.

            https://novaramedia.com/2026/03/02/uk-gave-90k-to-sexual-violence-report-central-to-israels-genocide-propaganda/

Al Jazeera meanwhile is really showing its arse over this war on Iran. Endless sympathetic interviews with Israelis on the street and a parade of zionist ‘experts’. Confirmation that Sunni Arabs hate the Shia more than Israel.

          • Stevie Boy

Zoot. Al Jazeera has always been the MSMs pet Arabs. Although they do some excellent work they won’t stray too far from the establishment agenda, ie. poor jews…

His Majesty’s Government peopled by civil servants certainly are enabling this policy. It looks like the Foreign Office has swapped it’s anti semitism of 100 years ago for Islamaphobia.

    • zoot

Looking at the debate in Parliament, the absolute best thing that could happen for British politicians, journalists, civil servants etc right now is a quick and brutal humbling at the hands of the Iranian government. Something unambiguously humiliating and traumatic enough to force a bit of genuine introspection. That should have happened after the successive British humiliations in Basra and Helmand but they were able to cover those up.

    • Brian Red

On FCO alleged historical “anti-Semitism”: SIS didn’t want to lose all its Arab assets.

Britain helped the Jewish Occupation get nukes, not many years after the British themselves were the occupiers of Palestine.

[ From “How Iran Can Defeat Donald Trump” by Larry C. Johnson (Sonar21, 3 March 2026) – link. ]

Here’s a judgement by someone who knows a bit more about the subject than most of us on here:
Iran also appears to have downed three F-15 combat aircraft. US Central Command insists that the planes were downed by friendly fire, but that is nonsense. The official US military report admits that Iranian aircraft had been engaging them at a time when “air superiority” was allegedly long established. Those planes carried IFF (i.e., Identification Friend or Foe), which is basically an encrypted “question and answer” radio system that lets radars and other aircraft positively recognize it as friendly. Before flight, ground crew or aircrew load crypto keys (for secure modes like Mode 4/5) into the IFF using a fill device, and set required mission codes. In flight, when the fighter appears on someone’s radar, that radar or airborne interrogator sends a coded challenge. The jet’s transponder:
        • Recognizes the interrogation mode and code.
        • Uses its loaded crypto to generate a valid encrypted response if the challenge is correct.
        • Transmits a reply on a reply frequency that includes ID, and in some modes altitude or other data.

In other words, US CENTCOM wants you to believe that the IFF on three planes failed or that the crews operating the Patriot missile batteries failed to recognize the IFF signals. If it was just one plane I would be inclined to believe CENTCOM’s explanation… But three? Sorry, this is Male Bovine Excrement.

        • Bayard

There’s another rumour doing the rounds: the Shiite pilots did it deliberately out of revenge for the death of the Iranian leader. 40% of Kuwait’s population are Shiites, they join the army and secretly sympathize with Iran. Just a rumour, but interesting if true.

      • Nota Tory Fanboy

it’s interesting that it was claimed as “friendly fire” after Iran had (according to Al Jazeera) already claimed responsibility for shooting down “several” US fighter aircraft. One or the other must be true but not both. It seems as though the US couldn’t admit that Iran could possibly have shot down their advanced fighter jets…

    • Brian Red

What’s the closest historical parallel to this kind of statement, when the leader of a regime that has just carried out an unprovoked and surprise armed attack on another country, murdering its president and more than 500 other people, says his regime did it so as to “save the world”?

      • Bayard

How about “On February 7, 1968, an American officer said “It became necessary to destroy the town to save it” after bombing a Vietnamese town.”?

        • Yuri K

This phrase eventually made its way into the US Army War Manual: “Sometimes it is necessary to destroy the town to save it.”

Yes Netanyahu see his big wish coming true by getting not only the US but also getting the arab world into a war with Iran, thus the flattery.

Re “Trump is saving the world” – Nazi Germany used the same rhetoric, they claimed it was the germans that was under threat of genocide and discrimination. It is called the “Accusataion in a mirror” technique:

“Accusation in a mirror is a false claim that accuses the target of something that the perpetrator is doing or intends to do”

Hearing Israelis hypocritically bleat on about Iran’s alleged nuclear weapon ambitions, while they already possess them, irks me the most.

Why do journalists and reporters in the west, singularly and repeatedly, fail to quiz Israeli spokespeople on their stockpile of nuclear weapons? It’s the most glaring example of western hypocrisy in the world today.

And if Iran is neutralised, as a regional adversary, Israel will simply find a new adversary to obsess over. The West will be fighting their perceived opponents forever, while restructuring our societies around their needs, e.g. IHRA incorporation, unless western societies escape from being under their yoke.

      • Jack

There is deep down a racist ideology at play here: white christian westerners are allowed to have a nuclear weapon, “we” are responsible actors, muslim, brown people however cannot be trusted with this technology and weaponry.

Same logical fallacy when they scaremonger that iranian missiles could reach this or that nation – implying Iran is therefore hellbent to strike this or that nation!

And yeah after Iran the israelis have already new a boogeyman lined up, apparently Turkey but also Qatar, the other week israel’s ex-PM Naftali Bennet warned that “Turkey is the new Iran”:

The bloodlust of the israelis are really something, it was not enough with Genocide in Gaza, no no.

          Jack

Racism plays a huge part in this, yes.

We’ve seen it most vividly in the way white, Ukrainian war refugees have been welcomed. Yet, when a Palestinian Gazan family, fleeing the Israeli-created hellscape, used the same system, all hell broke loose; with Starmer promising in a heated PMQs to urgently close the loophole, that allowed these unworthy untermensch to enter.

Would the U.S. be bombing a white European country as Trump’s bombing Iran? I think we all know the answer.

          • Yalt

I think the answer is yes. There was plenty of talk about bombing Serbia back to the stone age, back in the day….

I’m not saying there isn’t racism involved; it’s a lot easier when they’re black or brown. But we’ll bomb anybody, when you get down to it.

          • Bayard

“We’ve seen it most vividly in the way white, Ukrainian war refugees have been welcomed. ”

I think it’s more the case that, to paraphrase Roosevelt when referring to the dictator of the Dominican Republic, “They may be untermensch, but they are our untermensch”. (The Nazis considered Slavs to be untermensch.)

          • Nota Tory Fanboy

Stevie Boy try telling that to a Reform or MAGA voter; they don’t distinguish – to those white supremacist, ignorant so-called “Christian” nationalists, Muslim = Arab = brown.

It’s the same logical fallacy as USrael accusing Iran of being the World’s biggest financier of terrorism

      • Goose

UK and US politicians all trot out the ignorant soundbite about Iran being the ‘world’s leading sponsor of terror’. But the alleged ‘terrorists’ in question, are Hezbollah. Hezbollah’s origins are that of a defensive force, established to drive out and prevent future Israeli invasions of southern Lebanon. Many countries thus haven’t designated Hezbollah as terrorists, for that very reason.

I don’t know of a single Hezbollah operation outside the confines of their regional dispute with Israel? It’s a testimony to the power of the Israeli lobby in the west, that they’ve made what is purely a thorn in their side, somehow a thorn in ours.

Starmer’s bleating that the British base Akrotiri was “not being used by US bombers” is irrelevant because in practice he has declared war on Iran. Degrade a power’s military facilities at site X and it will have fewer resources to call on at site Y. That’s how war works. All military facilities are legitimate targets in war. Starmer is a lawyer too.

  • willie

The US economy, its world dominance is in decline, And so is the UK. You don’t need to be a genius to see that as its all around.

However, that decline will now become absolute. The US attack has trashed the world economy. Shut the Strait of Hormuz cutting off atr least 20% of the worlds oil and gas.

£15.00 for a gallon of petrol, if you can get it. Hyper inflation. A collapsed stock markets. Pensions and savings all gone. It’s here and the donkeys who let it happen, are going to suffer. At least the US has Venezuelan oil and its own American fields.

Anyway, its all in play and all that is left is for Starmer to sing Rule Britannia as the UK goes down the pan.

Slowly but surely another position is forming:

    People’s Daily, China
    China state-controlled media

‘Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday held a phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the latter’s request.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that under the impetus of China and Russia, the United Nations (UN) Security Council held an emergency meeting Saturday on current situation in #Iran.
China has consistently upheld the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and opposed the use of force in international relations, he said.
It is unacceptable for the United States and Israel to launch strikes on Iran during the Iran-U.S. negotiations, said Wang, adding that it is also unacceptable for them to blatantly kill the leader of a sovereign state and incite government change.
Wang pointed out that these actions violate international law and basic norms of international relations.
Noting that the escalation has spread throughout the Persian Gulf, Wang said that the situation in the Middle East may be pushed into a dangerous abyss, and China is highly concerned about this.
Wang pointed out that China’s position on the situation in Iran is as follows:
First, an immediate cessation of military operations. Prevent the spread and spillover of war and prevent the situation from getting out of control. China attaches great importance to the security of Gulf countries and supports them in exercising restraint.
Second, a prompt return to dialogue and negotiations. All parties should strongly encourage peace and prevent war, and urge relevant parties to return to the track of dialogue and negotiation as soon as possible.
Thirdly, a joint opposition to unilateral actions. Striking sovereign countries without authorization of the UN Security Council undermines the foundation of peace established after World War II. The international community should send a clear message against any regression to the law of the jungle.
For his part, Lavrov said that the U.S.-Israel strikes against Iran have seriously undermined stability in the Middle East.
Russia shares the same position with China and stands ready to strengthen coordination and communication with the Chinese side to send a clear signal through platforms such as the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, calling for an immediate cessation of the war and a return to diplomatic negotiations, he said.’

    • Alyson

More copy and paste… I realise that it was a long quote from the Oman diplomatic service that has been deemed unnecessary, but the 3 legs of the drivers are the deception that was played out there, the escalation and widespread catastrophe and lockdown unfolding across multiple countries, and the talks happening now between China and Russia calling for a UN ruling to halt the war.

Not forgetting the role that Congress should have to approve or deny any decision to go to war:

‘ Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari — one of only two Iranian Americans serving in Congress and the daughter of Iranian immigrants who fled the Islamic Republic — powerfully responded to the U.S. attack on Iran.
She went on to release a full statement on the attack as follows:
“The Islamic Republic is a brutal, corrupt regime that has murdered and imprisoned its own people for decades. Just in recent weeks, tens of thousands of Iranians have been killed, tortured, or disappeared for daring to demand freedom. I have no sympathy for regime officials or the military apparatus that carries out these atrocities.
As the daughter of Iranian immigrants who fled this regime, I know personally what its violence means. Members of our family and friends were brutalized and murdered by the Islamic Republic. I carry that history with me every day.
At the same time, as a U.S. Congresswoman sworn to uphold the Constitution and protect the American people, I am deeply concerned by President Trump’s decision to launch an illegal, dangerous war without Congressional authorization. Under Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, the power to declare war rests solely with Congress.
Consistent with my previous votes, public statements, and the consensus in my district, I believe no president–Republican or Democrat–has the authority to launch military strikes of this magnitude without Congressional approval.
Military action carries profound and deadly consequences for American servicemembers, Iranian civilians, regional stability, and the future of an entire nation. Donald Trump has specifically said Americans and innocent Iranians will die in this conflict, yet he has not shared a real, comprehensive plan with Congress or a justification with the American people.
I want a free Iran and a future of democracy and dignity for the Iranian people. I also want American troops to be safe. Those goals must be part of a coherent strategy that does not risk chaos or another endless war in the Middle East and require seriousness and leadership equal to the stakes. That is why I plan to support the bipartisan War Powers Resolution as soon as it comes to the House floor.”

    • Stevie Boy

Both China and Russia have some major infrastructure projects that depend on Iran. The fall of Iran would have some significant impacts for them. The USA is not unaware of this !

    • Brian Red

[Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi] said that China’s position is that “the international community should send a clear message against any regression to the law of the jungle.”

“Dear Donald, Be it known that one rather takes exception to USA government practice at the moment, which – if we may proffer our thoughts on the matter – may perhaps be characterised, not without accuracy, as not altogether perfect. Yours sincerely, Wang Yi”

Hasn’t the Chinese government got the guts to respond outside of the UN Security Council?

      • Steve Hayes

Here comes the broken record: What are the chances that Russia, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houtis suddenly independently discovered the ability to make quantities of missiles and drones with sophisticated guidance systems that actually hit their targets instead of falling randomly in fields or the sea? Some of them even hypersonic. These missiles will be Chinese, even if the fins get bolted on in the respective countries. They are what has shifted the balance against the West which still lazily assumes it’ll win any war despite losing again and again. They are what had Israel go for this desperate gamble – they may be able to keep things out of their and our media but every day people in Israel pass the ruins where the missiles struck and will only stop packing their bags if they can be convinced no more can fall. It’s WW3 by proxy, here, there and everywhere. Of course our top echelon knows all this but they also know that a break with China would overturn our whole economic system so it’s never mentioned in front of the unwashed masses.

        • Alyson

Michael Parenti’s observation is that the celebratory concept of bigger, brighter and noisier firework displays is military in its demonstration capacity. China’s celebratory display for the Year of the Firehorse gave us chilling previews of China’s capabilities. Its drone displays of aerial prancing horses were just one example, and its fighting humanoid robots conducting martial arts combat displays, were another. China has all the factories, the economic system to innovate and develop brilliance, and all the resources, except perhaps the trade route that Iran facilitates, to sell what it makes. We have forfeited all our capabilities to make profit via hedge funds instead of trade, but that is just another driver for this debacle

Meanwhile, China is not entering the war militarily, not because it supports the U.S., but because doing so is logistically unrealistic — and because China already supports Iran in more effective, non‑military ways.” ]

    • Chris Leeds

“Cessation of military operations” is an absolute non-starter. The Iranians will not stop until they have achieved whatever their immediate goals are – some kind of long lasting shutdown oil installations and shipping in the region, and the obliteration of as much of Israel’s infrastructure as they can manage. Everyone knows now that the US and Israel cannot be trusted to adhere to any ceasefire, or indeed any agreement of any kind, therefore this will go on to some kind of bitter end.

  • Brian Red

Just listened to British government radio (Radio 4) reporting on Iran. They seem to be avoiding saying which regime it actually was that murdered the Iranian head of state, namely the terrorist one that occupies Palestine. Instead they’re saying Donald Trump posted to the internet announcing that the USA had struck Iran. Most of their audience will doubtless think it was the USA that bombed and killed Khamenei. It wasn’t, although I’m ready to believe the USA helped.

The question the Britgov propagandists so impartially raised was “Why now?” The answer they gave was basically “Dunno”. Curiously Purim wasn’t mentioned, although we can hardly suppose it’s an unknown date in the calendar for every single senior member of the BBC who has been tasked with preparing and delivering the coverage of matters concerning Iran.

Then they said Ayatollah Khomeini “led the revolution which overthrew the Shah”. He didn’t. I switched off.

How stupid can some people be. Starmer has ordered Uk fighter jets to bomb locations in Iran selling that as defensive action. Yet he is being criticized by some for “not joining” Trump. Either Starmer is a conman or those people are stupid. Maybe both.

Quite rich to claim to carry out so called a “defensive” attack against a nation +3200 miles away especially since that nation itself has not attacked you. These people have no scruples whatsoever. Funny how the europeans level critic against Trump for pretty much everything but when Trump wages illegal murderous wars, then the same europeans suddenly embrace Trump. Nauseating.

Or take the oh so hailed canadian PM Mark Carney that just last month blasted Trump at Davos for not following international law but when US/Israel began their war of aggression Carney came out in full support.

Westerners must be the must deceitful and two-faced people on earth, in the best of worlds westerners should be banned from any leadership in the global instituions like UN etc let the Global South take over.

    • Brian Red

The line that Trump and Starmer are at loggerheads is a complete and utter falsehood, spread for purposes of distraction. F*** these “decision celebrities” as Guy Debord called them.

The aerial bombing of the school in Minab, Iran, in which scores of girls aged about 7-12 were killed, was a reality.

The disgusting sneering posh wretches at the Financial Times are using the following headline: “Strike on Iranian primary school kills dozens, authorities say.

Meanwhile the Occupation is carrying out expulsions in Lebanon.

The burgermuncher embassy has been hit in Riyadh.

The truth is that the Iranian government is the only government of a UN member state that has given any kind of military support to the Palestinians for decades. Which among other things shows that the Sunni-Shia divide is not as unbridgeable (or relevant) as western imperialists would like it to be.

      • Alyson

Trump is not in control. He is compromised. Israel doesn’t care about any other country. All Trump’s digital currency utopia investments are in the Middle East, which is combusting in multiple unpredictable ways. He has been played, and knows it. Starmer’s loyalty to Israel is total. Is he compromised or just committed by choice? I watched him telling a Jewish group that his toolmaker father, and mother, were Jewish. Does he lie to everyone?
America has nobbled the UN and cut off access to banking for members of the Council with integrity. It is telling that China and Russia are first and foremost calling for this Body to call for a ceasefire. That is the first line of control to pull in this rogue deception war. As has been the case throughout the whole Palestine Action protest suppression, people are trying to hold our own governments to account for illegal actions which amount to supporting genocide and enacting crimes against humanity. Democratic processes have been compromised.
What comes next remains to be seen

        • Nota Tory Fanboy

OK, so lets sum up some things that already happening, no matter what the outcome of war is.

    1. Trump finally betrayed everything he promised his MAGA supporters and they will abandon him.
    2. Russia and China are pushed to each other with great external force. India will follow suit, at least, by buing more oil from Russia.
    3. Rising oil and LNG prices will contribute to further crippling the EU economies.
    4. The negativity toward Israel all over the world, already on the rise, will grow even further.

Yes, R-l A, I’m aware of Graham’s homosexuality- not in itself anything to be condemned, but, in his case, I’m fairly sure his * tastes * are not for consensual, adult interactions. I also know of Hegseth’s marital history, just that, in my experience men who parade their- almost caricatured- aggressive, wannabe Alpha Male ” masculinity ” are often doing so as psychic defense/camouflage against * uncomfortable * feelings & attractions

          • Re-lapsed Agnostic

Thanks for your reply Robert. If the word of DC male escorts is anything to go by, Graham does have a preference for consensual, adult interactions (albeit illegal in Amerikkka since money’s changing hands), with him in a pathic role. Anyone who would like to know some of the graphic details can type ‘lindsey graham ladybugs’ into a well-known, popular search engine – though I wouldn’t particularly recommend it.

Recently I opined that Russia had been humiliated and was in no position to influence events much. I am now reconsidering. It could be a case of “never interrupt the enemy when he’s making a mistake”. Those Gulf states that are about to bite the dust (Windsor Davies applies particularly in the case of super-resort Dubai in the UAE) have very much been strategically part of the west…an epoch that is soon coming to an end? So the Abraham Accords were only a matter of short-term smash and grab? That sounds right up the Kushners’ street. The articles about Jewish Occupation – Arab Emirates fusion restaurants did seem a bit iffy.

As first reported by independent journalist Jonathan Larsen, a US combat-unit commander told non-commissioned officers that the war on Iran is part of “God’s divine plan,” allegedly claiming President Donald Trump was “anointed by Jesus” to ignite Armageddon. The complaint, filed with the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, is one of more than 110 logged within 48 hours from over 40 units across at least 30 installations. Complainants, including Christians, a Muslim, and a Jew, have requested anonymity to avoid retaliation. The Pentagon has yet to respond.

  • SleepingDog

Yes, Iran would have much greater pretexts for bombing the countries that are now bombing it, by the same feeble Western-Zionist ‘arguments’/expressions of bloodlust.

I’ve been reading Thucydides’ history of the Peloponnesian War (translated by Martin Hammond), and there is a point (after the Athenians eschew justice between unequals) that the Melian Council says that one day your empire may fall and you’ll be the underdog, and the Athenians just brush that off and say they don’t care about the consequences. They say friendship seems like weakness to their subjects, hatred like strength. The Melians say Athenian actions will make them enemies among neutrals. But Athens only feels insecure about weaker (island) independents, not comparable powers, they say. Elsewhere the Athenians deny they are inconsistent, although their policies obviously are, as others point out (they enslave some Greeks in a campaign to ‘liberate Greeks’, for example, no doubt having said the Greek equivalent of “We’re only here for your freedom.”). Unexpected victory against the powerful Persian Empire seems to have gone to a few Greek citizens’ heads in later generations.

What is this imperialist psychology? Why is it so homosocial throughout history? What are the underlying fears and lusts that provoke these beatings up of underdogs? Why is Empire so cognitively degraded and morally depraved?

      • SleepingDog

@Squeeth, Thucydides focuses on the patterns of interaction, the unpredictability of war (and peace), the speeches and dialogues urging and justifying different courses of action and policies, and some illuminating case studies (I’m not quite finished this unfinished work).

My take is that Athenian hawks-oligarchs-imperialists wanted to bind their democracy to imperial rule by making their city so hated that their citizens would support their militaristic empire (once a more voluntary defensive league against Persians) in fear of what would happen if they lost or relinquished it, having created so many otherwise unnecessary enemies.

        In other words, cultivating #karmaphobia

This appears similar to what the USAmerican Empire is doing now. It’s a form of ratchet effect politics. You burn through diplomatic bridges and make your word untrustworthy, so your electorate may just see the belligerent regime as the least evil option to ward off future repercussions, at least temporarily.

Why can’t we just accept that we are all human beings and currently only have one planet on which to live?

  • Robert Dyson

Looks like Shock and Awe is now being presented by Iran and allies. This is how Empires fail, they become corrupt, venal and complacent with narcissistic ignorance. I think that Netanyahu is sheltering in Germany as much to avoid Israeli rage as Iranian missiles.

  • JohnnyOh45

The craven position of the UK government in futher surrendering its sovereignty to the US/ISRAEL axis is toe-curling. Mark Curtis at Declassified is tweeting the relevant information.

For those who are unable to take an unequivocal position on the unprovoked and illegal war of aggression perpetrated by the US/Israel against Iran and the U.K’s capitulation in joining the axis of aggression; just consider for a moment that Iran and Russia had a strategic defense agreement that allowed Iran to have a sovereign military base in Russia where its missiles and assets were kept. Iran then attacks the U.K in an unprovoked and illegal war of aggression firing missiles from its base in Russia detroying parts of London and killing the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. I suspect most U.K citizens irrespective of their politcal point of view would assert the right of the UK to act in self-defense and respond by attacking the Iranian military base in Russia ? Unfortunately however this would not be the case if our current P.M were in charge as he clearly does not think it legitimate to attack third countries that house enemy military bases. Oh well back to the drawing board.

    • Republicofscotland

The Spanish leader – Pedro Sanchez, has bit more grit about him.

“Trump to cut off all trade with Spain over banning of US military aircraft from Spanish bases”

        • Bayard

That is a surprisingly close parallel to Khameini, especially given that Khameini’s son appears to have taken over his father’s position.

        • JohnnyOh45

I am not from the Christian protestant tradition myself so just searched for Head of the Church of CoE and then different nomenclatures came up from different searches. I am still not 100% clear about it myself. However I think the key point is the principle our P.M has espoused that it is not legitimate for a country who has been illegally attacked to target the bases of the aggressors which are located in third countries. As the example cited above makes clear if Iran had military bases in Russia and then illegally attacked the UK from there, then on the basis of our current P.M’s rationale, it would not be legitimate for the UK to defend itself by counterattacking an Iranian base in Russia.I suspect that most people in the UK irrespective of their political opinions would regard that reasoning as fallacious as it would leave the UK as the injured party unable to defend itself in these circumstances. The parallel with the unprovoked and illegal attack on Iran by the US/Israel seems obvious.

  • Yalt

I think we may be overestimating the rationality of the actors here.

I suspect (actually I hope!) this going to seem quite alien to those of you not in the US. And I can’t actually confirm that any of this report is true, but I can guarantee that the sentiment is prevalent. A minority sentiment to be sure, but not an insignificant minority, and they have considerable power.

    https://jonathanlarsen.substack.com/p/us-troops-were-told-iran-war-is-for

This isn’t some misguided attempt to maintain an empire that’s likely to end in disaster. The disaster itself is the goal.

    Let that sink in.

  • Chris Leeds

This marks the point where we have to ask ourselves about the nature of our democracy. Obviously we cannot know for sure, but I would say that the overwhelming majority of ordinary people in the UK do not support any involvement with the attack on Iran, whatever we may think of the government there, or the history of why they are so repressive. Certainly everybody I know and most ‘pundits’ agree that it is illegal and will damage not only Iran, but the entire world. Still fewer people support genocide – again, whatever their views of who caused the conflict.

Yet, here we are with our elected leaders firmly supporting both war and genocide, offering justifications that are wholly inadequate in the face of carnage.

My generation protested the Vietnam War, and with later generations there have been mass protests against the Falklands War, the Iraq War, and all our actions in Afghanistan, Syria and Libya to no avail. All these conflicts were unjustifiable, and issues (largely invented by the West) should have been solved with diplomacy.

With the wars in Ukraine and Iran, it is clear that we are supporting the US and Israeli regimes which have consistently lied, negotiated in bad faith, and arbitrarily broken all agreements made.

The question – possibly the major question of our lifetimes is – how do we stop our leaders? How do we hold them to account?

    • Bayard

“how do we stop our leaders? How do we hold them to account?”

That’s the great thing about our so-called democracy, we can’t. Rule by the people my arse!

Trump calling Iranians crazy people – he has no sense of irony, and its okay for the genocide committing occupying military force in Palestine, know as Israel – to have nukes, but not Iran

“A CNN poll suggests that 60% of Americans do not support the initial US-Israeli strikes on Iran on Saturday, while a Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates that only one in four Americans approves of the attack.

“I think that the polling is very good, but I don’t care about polling. I have to do the right thing. I have to do the right thing. This should have been done a long time ago,” Trump told the New York Post in an interview published on Monday.

“Look, whether polling is low or not, I think the polling is probably fine. But it’s not a question of polling. You cannot let Iran, who’s a nation that has been run by crazy people, have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said, claiming that “a real poll” would show that Americans support his actions.”

    • Yalt

Trump wants a real poll? How about a flag poll?

Something happened this weekend that I haven’t seen in my 65 years of American wars. (OK, I don’t remember the first few years so well.)

Americans love flags. When I travel l notice that a flag usually means a public building of some sort. Not here, seems like almost everyone is flying one. Not just US flags, there are flags for one’s city or state (this last isn’t so common), for the college or university one went to, for the country one’s ancestors are from, for one’s favorite sports team….

But mostly USA flags. And especially when a war starts. Whatever protests and grumblings can be heard in the days leading up, once the war’s underway pretty much everyone “supports the troops.” Which means getting a Stars and Stripes up the pole.

But not this time. Not only do I not see a single new flag flying on my block celebrating the war, the people who already had flags up have taken them down. A couple of doors down, across the street, is a small business owner and loyal Trump voter who, until recently, proudly displayed TRUMP banners on the back of his trucks. He’s had a flag up next to his front door for as long as I can remember…until Saturday. It’s now an empty pole. Two doors down from him the US flag that flew from a very very tall pole (at least twice as high as the two-story house it decorates) now has blue and orange stripes instead–it’s a flag for FC Cincinnati. The other direction I see an Arsenal flag, University of Cincinnati, Ohio State…but nary a US flag.

I don’t think it’s exactly that nobody supports the war, it’s that the particular jingoist sector of society that has to have a US flag in their front yard is particularly turned off this time around. They’re Trump voters, and they feel betrayed. It’s a little too damn obvious that this war is not being fought for US interests.

      • Republicofscotland

        Yalt.

Thank you for that observation, I’m sure once the price of items and fuel rise in America due to Trump’s belligerence, American’s will begin to display their distaste for this illegal war, well the sane ones will.

        • Yalt

          If we live that long.

We’ve got an aggressive war waged by a nuclear power run by a man with a severely disordered personality and some form of white-matter dementia whose DefenseWar Secretary openly prays for Armageddon and has dozens of commanders willing to preach the same to the troops, allied with a more modestly outfitted nuclear power run by a psychopath who preaches about Amalek and calls for destruction of the enemy down to the last woman and child. And apart from the nukes they’re going to run out of ammunition. What could go wrong?

  • Republicofscotland

Today the little cokehead Macron of France, has ordered the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier to the Middle East – slowly but surely, Trump’s European minions are falling into line, but not Spain.

    • Goose

At least Macron correctly identifies the war as being illegal.

Starmer, just talks about air power being unsuitable for regime change – where’s the mandate or legal basis for regime change? Trump is a reckless, heartless brute. who thinks this is some remote control war, with his sick WWF-style boasting about ‘knocking the crap’ out of Iran and decimating them. These are real lives he’s destroying and on what basis? There’s that old saying, also used in the Spiderman films : with great power comes great responsibility. Trump’s showing zero responsibility. And the murderous, demonic Netanyahu, is perma-wearing this huge grin in interviews; no doubt for him it’s as if all his birthdays have come at once. I’d wager the Israelis can barely believe how easy it’s been to manipulate Trump into battling their arch foe by massaging this self-declared “very stable genius’s” huge ego.

      • zoot

Trump was Epstein’s best friend for 15 years. That’s why Israel can manipulate him to a far greater extent than any previous US President. They have assured him that as long as he does whatever they want the world will never know what he did with Epstein.

That’s why Operation Epic Fury must be understood as Operation Epstein Fury.

  • Republicofscotland

It will be very interesting to see how Iran reacts to the below – confrontation looks inevitable.

“US President Trump: “Effective immediately, I have ordered the US Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to provide, at a very reasonable price, political risk insurance and guarantees for the financial security of all maritime trade, especially energy, traveling through the Gulf.

This will be available to all shipping lines. If necessary, the US Navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, as soon as possible””

  • Republicofscotland

Wow! – my respect for Spain is growing by the minute.

“Spanish politician Irene Montero: We demand to leave NATO because being in a military alliance led by Trump makes us a military target.

The war on Iran is only for oil and money, and the United States and Israel are enemies of humanity.”

  • Wally Jumblatt

If Trump wants to get anything useful out of this, he should seize Israel’s nukes. Pretty clear to most people that Brave Benji (bravely ran away last week) is desperate to use them, especially if it’s the last thing he does in power.
Mind you, if he did use them on Iran, would the eestern media even report it?

With the submarine attack outside Sri Lanka causing perhaps as many as 100 dead iranians it is another proof that Iran did not recognize the audacious nature of israel.
Iran really need to find some clever loopholes because this war of aggression by israel have become nothing but a one-sided shooting fish in a barrel. The perhaps best tactic is for Iran to push for regime change, chaos in the pro-israel/american arab regimes to stop the tide because one could assume that when Iran is weak enough the arab regime will likely enter the war by attacking Iran.

Israeli defense minister also said that every new leader that Iran bring forward will be targeted. Iran better use the same liquidation tactic against israeli leaders.

    • Brian Red

With the submarine attack outside Sri Lanka causing perhaps as many as 100 dead iranians it is another proof that Iran did not recognize the audacious nature of israel.

No it isn’t. You keep saying this. The Iranian military and intelligence services are not run by completely incompetent morons, and I wonder how much information you have got about Zionist attempts to do stuff over the past few days that have failed. (Did it occur to you that there may have been some? Because nobody will appoint you to a serious post in an intelligence service if it didn’t.)

Your approach seems to be to feel awe at Zionist successes and to conclude that they are all 100% successes, which the Zionists only achieved because their victims were terribly unwitting about the extent of Zionist cunning. That is not the real world. But it has been part of the Zionist narrative at least since Entebbe.

      • Jack

        Brian Red

Yes it is, do not become Bagdad bob here, there have been tremendous blunders and/or imcompetence by the iranians of just the reasons I pointed out earlier (technological superiority and an audacious mentality by the israelis).
Is it for example prudent to keep officially proclaim new commanders, generals, ayatollahs? Still Iran keep doing that and instantly these individuals become an easy target for the israelis to take out.
I am not sure of any specific failure by the israelis, please tell us, it must be quite miniscule considering the success, from the point of view of the israelis.

        • Bayard

As I said before, it’s a real pity the Iranians passed up the opportunity to recruit you as one of their top commanders, seeing how you are able to grasp points that continually elude them.

The probability that you are inaccurately or incompletely informed about what’s actually going on is vastly greater than the probability that Iran is run by a bunch of clueless bozos.

    • Bayard

“With the submarine attack outside Sri Lanka causing perhaps as many as 100 dead iranians it is another proof that Iran did not recognize the audacious nature of israel.”

Probably because it was a US submarine. It was 148 dead because the Yanks just left them to drown.

This war of choice represents the thrashing about of a diminishing empire, with its Caligula like leader threatening the terrors of the earth on any country not willing to take orders from their master, Trump. The first rule of warfare in Sun Yzu’s [the art of war] is to know your enemy, clearly Trump assumed the Iranian Shia would follow other Trump adversaries and capitulate when threatened with massive force, he was wrong, the Shia who follow a religion which enables them to suffer immense suffering to the extent that it is said they carry their own shrouds into battle. In an otherwise excellent article Craig says..”While Iran’s military ability to strike back is limited” Iran has been expecting this US aggression for many decades and have been planning for it by using underground tunnels to manufacture [on a grand scale] every type of missile required to confront US/Israel, how many do they have, the Iranians will not reveal [obviously] I guess enough to drive the US out of the middle east and enough to defeat the racist, supremacist and genocidal colony.
After just 2 days Trump claimed that after the decapitation strike on the supreme leader and many military commanders, Trump assumed he had softened up the remaining leaders to “come to their senses” and said that those leaders had in fact approached Trump to begin negotiations , this was a lie. the Iranian leadership did no such thing and told Trump they will not negotiate with him.
This is a logical statement of fact since on two past occasions, negotiations have been interrupted by bombing Iran in two acts of perfidy by the US/Israel.
Many experts have said Israel/US may only have 2/3 weeks supply of interceptors and that Iran may have missiles stored in their under ground tunnels which can outlast them, oh dear!
Just as important is the closure of the strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, no oil to Europe and a self denial of Russian oil, puts them in a real pickle. Perhaps China can still receive Iranian oil via the new rail link or rely on Russia for any short fall.
This war of choice could be a disaster for the west, I think only huge concessions by the US can resolve this problem, but then of course Trump would have to admit his mistake [not going to happen] thereby plunging the world into economic catastrophe.

    • Brian Red

The SIS house newspaper the Daily Telegraph is putting it out that China is about to sell Iran some missiles that could destroy USA aircraft carriers. They’re implying that they heard the news from their equally spooked-up colleagues at Reuters:

      https://archive.is/WwsM5

      https://www.reuters.com/world/china/iran-nears-deal-buy-supersonic-anti-ship-missiles-china-2026-02-24/

Reuters say they read the Chinese advertisement for it:

“China’s state-owned China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) markets the CM-302 as the world’s best anti-ship missile, capable of sinking an aircraft carrier or destroyer. The weapons system can be mounted on ships, aircraft or mobile ground vehicles. It can also take out targets on land.”

If only it could take out aircraft too, they’d make it a triple.
