Dishonesty and Deceit 747

UPDATE We got an expedited date to “reclaim” (appeal) against the suspension of the case, on 25 September. We shall also be reclaiming against the decision not to send the case straight to the Inner House.

All parties seemed to agree there may just be time, if our appeal is successful, to finish the Scottish judicial review before the Supreme Court meets on 4 November to hear the English case.

While the UK government did not oppose the timetable for the appeal, they will be opposing the appeal itself. One argument they used again is that the closed (secret) process for “intelligence” evidence may need too much time for the hearing to go ahead.

In the course of this argument the UK government’s lawyers revealed that there is a five-day process after the Court of Session reaches its verdict, for the security services to vet the judgement before it is published. All the lawyers just took this as completely normal.

It is not normal. In a case about human rights and excessive power of the state, the security services get to vet what the judges can say? It is astonishing. What kind of society have we become?

Today was a win in that we have the quick appeal and still the possibility of a judicial review. Another way of looking at it is that it is yet more Lawfare and leads to yet another expensive hearing, still without having the actual review. But we will fight hard now because this is the crunch and I will very much be looking for people to come and support at court on the 25th.

UPDATE ENDS

I have never been so coldly angry as I am at Lord Young’s further suspension of the Scottish judicial review of Palestine Action, now until after the Supreme Court decision in the English case.

The grounds given – the public cost of the judicial review and the management of judicial resources – are ludicrous. The costs in Scotland alone of police time in arresting and charging hundreds of people as terrorists for supporting Palestine Action, the costs of the courts that will try them all, and the potential public cost of keeping scores of people in jail as terrorists, will run into many millions. This massively outweighs the costs of a three-day judicial review to decide the legality of all this.

Lord Young granted the judicial review on the explicit grounds that residents of Scotland whose human rights were being infringed in Scotland were entitled to seek a remedy from a Scottish court in Scotland’s separate jurisdiction. He ruled this was irrespective of the existence of proceedings down in London, in another jurisdiction. These were already well underway. Lord Young ruled this…

I am satisfied that it is appropriate to grant permission for this judicial review to proceed in Scotland notwithstanding the existence of English proceedings which are at a more advanced stage. As a matter of principle, a petitioner who has standing and whose petition sets out arguments of sufficient merit to satisfy s27B(2)(b) of the 1988 Act should not be refused permission because of the existence of parallel proceedings in another UK jurisdiction. The petitioner claims that his legal rights have been illegally circumscribed by the 2025 Order. He is entitled to look to the courts of his place of residence for a determination of that complaint…

Any decision in England could not found a plea of res judicata in Scotland. A Scottish court would not be required by precedent to follow any decision of the High Court in England. There had been a number of recent examples of important constitutional challenges proceeding in parallel in Scotland and England.

Since the granted permission for the judicial review in January, I have been five times in court trying to make the review actually happen. It has been postponed again and again in a deliberate delaying tactic. It has been postponed so that secret “intelligence” evidence might be heard in secret court sessions that I am permitted no information from. It has been postponed by a series of suspensions granted to the UK government by Lord Young pending developments in England.

Our petition for the judicial review was submitted last October. The review was granted in January. Dates were set for March. Since then it has been simply delayed and delayed and delayed.

At one stage the review was postponed by Lord Young for three weeks so that the Advocate General could appear in person to argue for a suspension – after he had initially refused two motions for suspension. The Advocate General made no new arguments, cited no new precedents, but in a sickening deference to executive authority Lord Young granted the suspension. In which Hell we have been stuck ever since.

We have spent over £200,000, raised from over 2,000 individuals, on multiple court appearances to try to get things moving. That is even without counting two costs awards looming over our heads from procedural motions to get things moving, which Lord Young ruled against and in the UK Government’s favour.

This is not just Lawfare by the government – an effort at constant delay, delay, delay and a deliberate tipping of the review into a procedural morass where no progress is ever made. It is Lawfare in which the judiciary is complicit with the executive. If Lord Young had no intention of allowing a Scottish judicial review before the English case is decided by the Supreme Court, he ought never to have granted permission in the first place. Instead they have exhausted our resources, financial, intellectual and emotional, by enmiring us in a process it is now clear there was never any intention of bringing to a conclusion.

Everybody already knew the English proceedings were at the Court of Appeal and going, either way, to end up at the Supreme Court, at the time Lord Young granted permission to proceed in January. Had he stated then that he was granting permission to proceed, but only after the Supreme Court had decided the English case, we might have given up and not spent £200,000 and nine months of my life. It has been a form of judicial entrapment in which Lord Young has been, at the kindest possible reading, extremely accommodating to the UK government and utterly indifferent to the ordinary Scots seeking to challenge them.

Tomorrow we appear before the Inner House of the Court of Session to discuss – only – whether an appeal against Lord Young’s suspension of the review can be heard on an urgent basis, or whether the appeal will take place in normal time – which would probably mean after the Supreme Court hearing anyway.

Here is Lord Young’s latest decision in full:

COS-P1017-25 Pet: Craig Murray for Judicial Review

Halliday Campbell WS Office of the Advocate General
25 August 2026 Lord Young

The Lord Ordinary, having resumed consideration of the opposed motion of the petitioner to recall the sist granted on 28 May 2026 and to invite the Lord Ordinary to report the whole cause to the Inner House; refuses same for the reasons set out in the note appended hereto; thereafter, sists the cause pending the outcome of the Supreme Court decision in Ammori v SSHD; and grants leave to reclaim the interlocutor of 25 August 2026.

Andrew Young

Note

  1. By any interlocutor of today’s date, I have re-sisted the cause on the respondent’s motion and have refused the petitioner’s motion to report the whole cause to the Inner House in terms of rule 34.1(1). As with a similar motion heard on 14 July 2026, I shall grant leave to reclaim against this decision.
  2. A summary of the procedural position is set out in the Note appended to the interlocutor issued on 14 July 2026. On that date, I refused the petitioner’s motion to recall a previous sist granted on 28 May 2026. That sist subsequently ended once the determination of the onward appeal in R (Ammori) v Secretary of State for the Home Department was determined by the Supreme Court. Miss Ammori was granted permission to appeal the decision of the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court and the substantive hearing before the Supreme Court has been fixed for 4th & 5th November 2026.
  3. I was addressed by senior counsel for the petitioner and respondent on 20th August 2026 in relation to further procedure in this cause. At the request of the special advocates previously appointed, I allowed a period for written submissions to be made by the special advocates.

The special advocates subsequently informed the court that they did not wish to make any submissions on further procedure.

  4. The petitioner opposed the respondent’s motion to renew the sist pending final determination of the Supreme Court’s decision in Ammori. It was submitted that these proceedings had been the subject of repeated delay instigated by the respondent which was contrary to the objective of speedy determination of judicial review proceedings. It was no excuse that these proceedings were delayed by the closed material procedures and need for special advocates. It was incumbent on the respondent and special advocates to act with alacrity to enable the speedy determination objective to be satisfied. There was no rule of court expressly allowing the sist of judicial review proceedings. The court should refuse the sist as incompetent.
  5. The petitioner renewed his motion, previously made in July, that this court should report the whole cause to the Inner House with a view to the Inner House hearing argument on the merits of the petition and answers. In this way, a Scottish appellate decision could be issued and would be before the Supreme Court when hearing the Ammori appeal. There was a distinct Scottish dimension since individuals in Scotland were being prevented from expressing support for Palestine Action. Differences could be seen in the approaches adopted by the police and prosecution authorities in Scotland compared to England. A main plank of the argument in favour of proscription had been sentencing remarks made in Sheriff Court proceedings. In the absence of an express “leap-frog” provision in Scotland, rule of court 34 should be utilised to enable Scottish input into the Ammori proceedings before the Supreme Court.
  6. The respondent sought a further sist until the issue of the Supreme Court’s decision in Ammori. The reasons for the sist had been articulated on previous occasions and remained valid. It was likely that many of the issues raised by the petitioner would be finally resolved by the Supreme Court. If the appeal was successful before the Supreme Court, that would bring these proceedings to an end as the respondent accepts that the decision would be given effect in Scotland. If the appeal to the Supreme Court was unsuccessful, it was still likely that several of the major issues would have been resolved leaving any residual issues to be dealt with in these proceedings. The efficient use of court time and the avoidance of unnecessary costs justified the further sist. The sist was competent under the inherent case management powers of the court.
  7. The motion seeking to have the case reported to the Inner House was opposed as being inappropriate. There was no precedent for a whole cause to be reported in order that the first substantive determination was by an appellate court. The petitioner was assuming that the Inner House would have the capacity to hear argument and issue a decision in advance of the Supreme Court hearing. Such indications as the respondent’s agents had from court administration was that court availability might be an issue. The petitioner was also assuming that the Supreme Court hearing, which had been fixed for two days on the assumption that it was only dealing with an appeal from the Court of Appeal, could accommodate input from a Scottish perspective.
  8. It was not the primary position of either party that the present proceedings should proceed at this stage to a substantive hearing before me.

The petitioner’s request to have the whole cause reported to the Inner House was recognised by senior counsel to be innovative. I accept that the lack of a precedent should not exclude the benefits of such an approach being evaluated. Judicial review proceedings which do not generally involve significant disputed factual matters could, in theory, be more amenable to a leap-frog approach than other types of proceedings. However, the unique nature of this motion does cause me to hesitate. Unless and until there is guidance from the Inner House as to the situations in which the Inner House would be willing to hear causes in the absence of a decision of the Outer House, it is difficult for a Lord Ordinary to assume the role of gate-keeper for the Inner House. As the respondent pointed out, there are many practical issues which the Inner House are best placed to consider. I have decided that the appropriate course is to refuse the petitioner’s motion to report under rule 34.1 but to grant leave to reclaim so that the matter can be placed before the Inner House for its re-consideration, if the petitioner so wishes.

  9. I shall grant the respondent’s motion to re-sist until the Supreme Court issues its judgment in Ammori. This remains, in my view, the most expeditious way to resolve several of the critical issues. Any issues which remain to be resolved after that decision has been issued, can be focussed for determination in the present petition. I consider this course will minimise legal expense and the burden on the courts’ resources.

Ultimately, this will secure the speediest final determination of the issues which the petitioner raises.

  10. I shall make no order in relation to the adjustments recently intimated by the petitioner. I anticipate that a further period of mutual adjustment may be required but that will depend on the terms of the Supreme Court’s decision.

Andrew Young

25 August 2026

So Lord Young’s plan is that the Supreme Court should consider the judgements of English courts only, and then decide for the whole United Kingdom, leaving any Scotland only issues to be considered by a subsequent Scottish judicial review.

His idea that a Scottish judicial review held after the Supreme Court judgement will be “speedier” than a review held before the Supreme Court judgement is an interesting defiance of the normal concept of time.

He has given up on his earlier justification of “comity” with the English courts now that he can claim he is acknowledging the superiority of the Supreme Court – but with no Scottish input. His argument boils down to this and this only. It will be cheaper not to have a Scottish judicial review. He has no other point.

In which case, why grant one in the first place?

The £200,000 we have spent on this case has been entirely eaten up by Lord Young and the UK government on procedural rubbish. The court has so far heard nothing of the Genocide in Gaza or of the arrest of respectable pensioners in Scotland just for opposing that Genocide.

The court appears determined to keep it that way. They are simply avoiding a confrontation with the British state. A Scottish court is not going to find the ban legal and proportionate. That woud set up a political and constitutional conflict which the Scottish judiciary do not want. So they find ways to avoid the question.

The Scottish government is also deliberately avoiding conflict with the UK over Palestine Action. The decision to charge the alleged Palestine Action activists as having a “terrorism connection” in spray painting Trump’s golf course in Scotland is sickening. The conflation of some spray paint with terrorism is simply ludicrous. The British state has distorted the word “terrorism” beyond all rational meaning.

But it has to be noted that this is not a UK government decision. It is a Scottish decision by the prosecution – the Crown Office, which is under the Lord Advocate. The Lord Advocate is not only appointed by the Scottish Government, he is a minister in John Swinney’s SNP cabinet. They have decided to press the terrorist connection.

It should be remembered that the SNP did not vote against the proscription of Palestine Action in parliament. They have not used their control of Police Scotland to instruct the police to deprioritise arresting old ladies for holding placards, when there is no shortage of more obvious crimes in Scotland, like burglaries which go uninvestigated.

One key point in our case is that the UK government consulted nobody – not one person – in Scotland before the proscription of Palestine Action. They did not consult the Scottish Government, Police Scotland or the Scottish Counter Terrorism Strategy Board (Contest). They consulted the Israeli Embassy, weapons manufacturers, Jewish groups and even a Lebanese Christian group – but no Palestinians. And not Scotland.

The papers in our judicial review have all been copied as it goes along to the Lord Advocate’s office, at his request. The Scottish government could have intervened to support us. The Scottish government is not arguing that it should have been consulted over the proscription, as it has responsibility for police, courts, prisons, and human rights in Scotland. It is not arguing that Scotland is a separate legal jurisdiction and there is a right to a separate Scottish judicial review.

It was open to the Scottish government to intervene to argue those things. They have declined to do so. It is plain to me Swinney supports the proscription of Palestine Action and has no interest in the independence of the Scottish legal system..

It was recently revealed that the Scottish Government has continued through Scottish Enterprise to funnel funds to the Israeli weapons industry in Scotland. We know that in past ministerial positions Swinney gave government money to Israeli settler company Eden Springs to compensate them for boycott losses, and ordered the removal of teaching materials on Palestine from Scottish schools. That is without mentioning the continued cover-up of the content of Angus Robertson’s Scottish government talks with the Israeli Deputy Ambassador.

Like all those trying to take any action against the Genocide in Palestine, I have run up against the all-encompassing resistance of an amorphous but suffocating Establishment. I had naively hoped to demonstrate that the corrupt nexus is less complete in Scotland. I have instead proven the opposite.

The institutions of western democracy are revealed as a sham. Justice is a lie. A court which will not defend the citizen against an authoritarian state, but defines its role as merely the will of that state, is not an instrument of justice. It is a mere instrument of state power.

I am not putting out a call for people to come to court tomorrow Tuesday, because it is only looking at the timetable and may only last five minutes, and we have no firm start time. However I shall be there from around noon and am not discouraging company if anyone wants to join me.

The fight goes on because the alternative is surrender to rampant authoritarianism. I shall let you know how we get on in court this time. I am not going to request more donations to the legal fund until this procedural hurdle is cleared.

    Worth a mention ”

” Britain asked Apple to help it snoop on its own people, and Apple walked away.

Last year the government quietly ordered Apple to build a backdoor into iCloud, a hidden key that would let officials see your photos, messages and files.

Rather than build it, Apple pulled its strongest iCloud security from Britain entirely.

Now Apple is fighting the order in a special spy court, but the UK has secrecy rules, and those rules mean neither the government nor Apple is allowed to admit the order even exists.

That’s why most of the case would be heard behind closed doors, even though Trump and JD Vance have already talked about the order publicly.

Today Apple and 2 human rights groups asked the court to end the charade and hear the case in public, with one lawyer calling it the “emperor’s new clothes.”

The court hasn’t ruled yet, and British iPhone users are still stuck without Apple’s strongest security.”

All possible because of the powers within the overreaching, amended, Investigatory Powers Act 2016 – legislation which is unprecedented in its scope for a supposedly ‘democratic’ country. It’s disgraceful, as it asserts UK extraterritorial jurisdiction over tech companies worldwide and tries to gag them from revealing they’ve been served with a Technical Capability Notice(TCN).

The main issue many have with it, is it prioritises intelligence gathering over cybersecurity. Companies have to seek permission before rolling out major security updates, and can be ordered to delay patching major security vulnerabilities, if security services are exploiting them, leaving everyone vulnerable.

And it just hurts ordinary people’s privacy, as I very much doubt international terrorists, people smugglers etc, are entrusting their data with Apple’s icloud, regardless of any end-to-end encryption promises from Apple.

Yes more spying on us – and with the Westminster government putting synthetic folic acid into many foods without our consent, there’s a link between synthetic folic acid and prostate cancer, prostate cancer diagnosis have increased – and apparently synthetic folic acid reduces the absorbance rates of B12, anything made with flour biscuits, bread, cakes bread sticks etc has had this added without our consent – a few folk online who have been watching the petition to have it removed from our foods – have noticed that many folk can get in to sign the petition and that some folk who have signed the petition have had their signatures removed.

Apparently the synthetic folic acid is also being sprayed onto fruit and veg, under the guise of giving it a longer shelf life.

I’ve been on this planet more than sixty years and not once has any food manufacturer asked me or anyone I know about which additives they should put in food. If you don’t like an additive, don’t buy any food with it in.

          • Bayard

That’s against the law, AFAIK, a totally different kettle of fish from “not being consulted”. If this has been reported to the relevant authorities with evidence and nothing has happened, that is another scandal to be laid at the door of the Establishment. I would not be at all surprised if it had, though. Mind you, you can always not shop at Tesco.

GCHQ also wanted Apple to implement a universal ‘ghost protocol’ to allow them to covertly eavesdrop on end-to-end encrypted messaging apps. Proposals came in a lawfare article by Ian Levy ( the then Technical Director of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre) and Crispin Robinson (GCHQ’s Head of Cryptanalysis).

The “Bcc” / Silent Copy Method: Instead of breaking or weakening core encryption algorithms, the plan suggested compelling messaging providers (like WhatsApp or Signal) to silently add a law enforcement “ghost” participant or duplicate messages to a third recipient.

No Notifications: The system would suppress normal app notifications so regular users would remain entirely unaware that a third party was reading their conversation in real time. So people wouldn’t be able to trust their own devices.

The real problem with all this is how we’ve moved away from ‘targeted’ justified surveillance or actual known criminals to, ubiquitous surveillance capability like Telescreens in Orwell’s 1984.- surveillance as a method of totalitarian control.

      .

      • Goose

“The telescreen received and transmitted simultaneously. Any sound that Winston made, above the level of a very low whisper, would be picked up by it; moreover, so long as he remained within the field of vision which the metal plaque commanded, he could be seen as well as heard. There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment.” – 1984

Surely, people can see the parallels. It really doesn’t have to be like this, if we had a representative democracy. That awful apologist, Ayesha Hazarika, now Baroness Hazarika, was on TV talking about how “governments of all hues” support this policy and that. We haven’t had governments of “all hues” under FPTP; the choice is controlled and narrow, we’re a “managed democracy”. Maybe not quite as bad as the Russian elections, they mock, but not far off.

        • Stevie Boy

We are not a democracy of any sort. The people don’t have a voice, they don’t have representation and they don’t have freedom of speech. Laugh at Russia, laugh at China, but the jokes on us.

The Mail claimed Liz Truss’s phone was hacked, while she was foreign secretary. Private messages between Ms Truss and foreign officials, including about the Ukraine war, fell into foreign hands.

Details about the hack were suppressed by then-prime minister Boris Johnson and Cabinet Secretary Simon Case(ex-GCHQ Diiector of Strategy), The Mail on Sunday, cited what it said amounted to a “news blackout” imposed by Mr Case.

There’s a claim that former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss sent a text message saying “It’s done” to the then U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken immediately after the Nord Stream pipeline explosion.

Former Labour deputy Tom Watson joins Palantir

Watson said part of his role would be to “correct false information” while working with Palantir’s engineers on privacy, security and sovereign control. Er… shouldn’t those things have been sorted out, before handing out contracts worth hundreds of millions?

He’s going to claim critics must be pesky Russian bots, trying to prevent the UK enjoying Palantir’s world-class services, isn’t he? “We have challenges. Some criticism is propaganda….” It’s BS, but mention Russia and it’ll persuade gullible politicians.

        • Stevie Boy

Fat Tom wouldn’t know false information even if it was dressed up as a 20 foot neon sign saying ‘I’m false’. I’m sure Corbyn has a story or two to tell about fat Tom’s honesty !

          • Goose

            Stevie Boy

He’s obviously been hired to get an audience with and persuade Labour politicians, like Sadiq Khan, who blocked a £50m Metropolitan police deal. And Burnham, who appears to be unhappy with Palantir’s growing involvement with the NHS.

Many have a problem with Palantir , due to CEO Alex Karp’s comments. Karp has doubled down on his pro-Israel views, stating explicitly that Israel is “on the side of good” and that he is “proud that we are supporting Israel in every way we can.” Although, Palantir has denied being involved in Lavender and Gospel, two AI systems that the Israeli military has used to target Palestinians in Gaza.

Palantir were awarded a £330 million contract by NHS England to build a Federated Data Platform (FDP). The FDP utilizes hospital trust data, but explicitly excludes general practitioner (GP) records, so privacy concerns may be overstated.

          • Stevie Boy

            “privacy concerns may be overstated.”
Not at all. If you’ve ever been in hospital you’ll know they have your name, address, NI number, medical record, GP name, next of kin, and more. Would you really want the wrong people having access to all that data ? A FDP will be able to correlate your data with similar groupings such as family members, geographical groups, GP Surgery groups, admission, discharge dates, and more. Palantir, a genocide linked military company, will be able to locate and track you. And, if NHS security data and CCTV data is included we are all screwed.
Never underestimate the importance of your personal data to the enemy.

        • Republicofscotland

          Goose.

Someone told me yesterday or the day before that that is patronage – Watson has good access to Westminster politicians – and influence to boot – that’s why arms firms and the likes of Palantir hire those ex-useless b*stards.

The Putney Pusher case says a lot about how the British state works – as also does the Lucy Letby case.

Putney: horrible inhuman attack on woman by man running – filmed as if made for the internet 1 era that we’re living in. Police, ahem, can’t find the attacker – but one doesn’t imagine that too many proletarians jog in the Putney area. Then the cops bust Nicholas Brandram 9.5 (!) years later who is soon found dead, family say by suicide and that he’s innocent and they can show he was elsewhere and that he didn’t look anything like the attacker. Apparently in 2013 he’d hit a woman with his motorbike and skedaddled, but sorry this doesn’t make him the Putney pusher except in police la-la “we’re so good at our job” country. I believe Brandram’s family that he was innocent. What TF were the cops doing? Presumably they can close their investigation now, huh? Case closed. I bet they know who did it.

Letby: c’mon – the whole NHS colonial army-type structure works on the basis of CYA for senior medics, nurses, and other officials. I put this under the heading “Letby” because hers is the name that this is hung on for most people, but the real course of events is obviously one of cover-up for whoever was really responsible far higher up the hierarchy as well as a whoop-whoop “crucify the prole” fest by professional gobbers. She’s innocent too. (And detail junkies can FO back to their scifi fanfic clubs. See the big picture.)

    • Brian Red

      https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/sep/17/nicholas-brandram-suspect-putney-pusher-case-family-sisters

Brandram was murdered by the police in all but name.

“A number of officers in body armour reportedly swooped on his home address, his sisters said, while a reporter who had been tipped off about the arrest filmed the ordeal. Although Brandram’s name was not published in the media because he had not been charged, his family said that biographical information in reports made him easily identifiable.”

A group of filth wearing body armour? Were they expecting armed resistance?

      And with film coverage pre-arranged.

The filth really do love their social media – and sacrificing humans on it.

      • Stevie Boy

I tend to agree. Letby is innocent, an NHS patsy, as they all pull together to cover their incompetent, rainbow coloured, woke arses. And, there is absolutely no evidence that Brandram was the pusher. Given the location and all the CCTV available, one wonders if the pusher is a top level civil servant, or MP. Where was Burn’em on that day ?

        • Squeeth

As an ex-employee of Hull Health Authority, I wouldn’t breed from them. To be fair (unlike them) the corruption of the NHS began under the Thatchler regime at least. Mick Hall anyone?

        • Republicofscotland

          Stevie Boy.

Interesting stuff, I have no idea if she’s innocent or guilty – there’s a guy in prison in Scotland for murdering a girl – his name is Luke Mitchell, apparently his conviction is unsafe – but he’s been in prison for I’d say 20 years – and the (COPFS) Crown Office Prosecution Service – which is corrupt to is core would look even more incompetent or in reality malicious – if Mitchell were to be liberated, not to mention the huge amount he’d receive in compensation – apparently the polygraph expert who tested Luke Mitchell said he was innocent.

On compensation Scot, Kenny Richey spent 20 years in prison for murder in America – it later turned out he was innocent – he received no compensation – because the authorities said to him that if he chased compensation for being locked up for 20 years – they’d appeal his liberation, and he would remain in prison whilst it went to court, they told him it could take years to reach a court, so he chose his freedom over compensation.

I think up until 2023 wrongly convicted prisoners – had to pay for board and food on release.

Unfortunately, there are many, many cases of people wrongly locked up in the UK with the connivance of the CPS.
“Leroy Douglas was just 24 when he was jailed in 2005 for stealing a mobile phone and handed a minimum prison term of two-and-a-half years.More than 20 years later, he is still locked up.”

Dishonesty and Deceit, indeed. The deaths continue …
“A new-born baby collapsed at the hospital where Lucy Letby worked months after the nurse was removed from the ward, despite prosecutors’ claim that baby deaths stopped after she left being central to their case.
Archie died of enterovirus, which is transmitted by faecal matter, at a unit in Manchester in December 2016, shortly after being transferred there from Chester.
Archie’s mother, said she was initially told that he had probably caught the illness from her during labour, but later discovered that the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester had experienced sewage and plumbing problems. … You could tell it was an old building. It felt run down. The toilets, the showers, all the facilities were just worn. It didn’t feel the cleanliness that you’d expect from a hospital. The unit was quite well known to have sewage coming up from the taps. … she had also been concerned by what she perceived as the unit’s poor management, adding: “The first thing that was alarming to me when I did go to see Archie was the lack of staff.”

Letby is most likely in some way a scapegoat for incompetence at higher echelons of the NHS. With Brandram, I suspect it is the opposite – another wealthy, ex-military man that the authorities were covering up for. Would you immediately take your life if you were wrongly accused? I doubt it. And where was the rest of the CCTV footage of the pusher’s run? Tragic in both cases, however.

      • David Warriston

I can remember when UK police used to walk either side of an arrested person, holding an arm each. And that was in the days before officers adopted stab vests, tasers and hi-viz gear. Handcuffs were used for prisoners who had resisted arrest or were being escorted to court.

This US style fetish for handcuffing all arrested persons- thus making them look guilty before trial- has never been commented on so far as I know. Did the police really believe Lucy Letby was going to kick up a rumpus and start lashing out? Or are we to be told she was pinned ‘for her own safety?’

    JP Morgan Bank.

“Due to the conflict with Iran, we can no longer forecast oil prices.

We truly don’t know how this will end, and we cannot model a scenario for the resolution of this conflict.”

“JPMorgan’s commodities team has abandoned its baseline forecast for the Iran war’s trajectory, the first time since the conflict began more than six months ago. Natasha Kaneva, head of global commodities strategy, said the bank no longer knows how to model the endgame, after the oil and Treasury redlines it expected would force a deal were crossed without producing a clearer exit strategy. Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline has been shut down after a drone attack, Houthi forces have expanded control in the Red Sea region, and the Strait of Hormuz remains severely constrained. Brent crude trades near $105 a barrel against a fair value estimate of $90, implying the market is pricing in 4 million barrels per day of additional supply losses. Global inventories have fallen by 555 million barrels, far less than the 1.4 to 1.6 billion initially projected, with demand destruction absorbing much of the shock. Asia is bearing much of the cost: East Asian importers paid an extra $49 billion over six months. The bank warned that the remaining cushion is temporary, and absent a diplomatic breakthrough, market adjustment mechanisms face mounting pressure.”

I thought modelling random events was well understood in the field of mathematics by statistical science.
The price of oil is directly related to Trump’s utterances which are quasi random. For example, Friday rants cause a rise, whilst Monday U Turns cause a fall, but the overall trend is always upwards as reserves are depleted and supplies are curtailed. The endgame is when Trump goes, either to his maker, to prison or to retirement in two years time.
Anyway, do we need a model ? Just monitor what people are paying – that’s the price. Everything else is just gambling for the greedy.

It’s not gonna happen of course, but get this:

UK Lawyers for Israel has called on the government to consider proscribing Doctors Without Borders, known by its French acronym MSF, as a terrorist organisation, The Telegraph reported. I don’t think even the Starmerfuhrer would have done it either… I guess UKLFI – and Benny the Baby Killer and his nazi buddies – don’t realise how highly MSF are regarded in Europe. Allan.

The US Terror/Pirate State has actually bombed MSF doctors in the past in Afghanistan – I’m sure the Yanks used the same excuse the Zio-Monsters used to bomb hospitals – the hospitals were terrorist strongholds.

Its more than ten years now.

“Almost ten years previously though, during the night of 3 October 2015, for over an hour, the Kunduz trauma centre came under intense and prolonged US airstrikes. The main hospital building, which housed the intensive care unit, emergency rooms, laboratory, x-ray, outpatient department, mental health and physiotherapy ward, was hit with precision, repeatedly.

When the fire was out, the dust had cleared, and contact has been established with survivors, 42 people were dead, including 24 patients, 14 MSF staff, and four patient caretakers. Patients had burned in their beds, people had been decapitated or lost limbs, others had been shot from the air while trying to escape the burning building. To date, this is the deadliest attack that has been perpetrated against one of our facilities.”

PS I was just thinking yesterday that ‘they’ are taking an extraordinary long time to conclude their investigation into the bombing of the school in Minab…. Just this minute did a search to see if there’s been any recent news about it and, lo-and-behold:

UN report finds “reasonable grounds” for war crimes charges in US missile strike on girls’ school in Iran

A United Nations (UN) fact-finding mission has concluded that there are “reasonable grounds to believe” that the United States committed war crimes in air strikes on two civilian sites in Iran at the opening of the US-Israeli war….

The mission rejected the central implication of the US government’s early efforts to depict the school’s destruction as an accident arising from an attack on the nearby IRGC facility. It concluded that “the building of the school was the intended point of impact and that the damage did not result from an errant strike or collateral damage” from the strike on the naval complex.

This conclusion rested in part on survivor accounts that the school was struck twice. It also rested on the physical character of the target, its visibility as a school and the lack of any information showing military use….

With Trump looking like not doing too well in the Mid-Terms – and a poll showing the 48% of Germans thinking that Merz will be out of office by the end of the year – a major false flag in Europe might be on the cards – to foment war with Russia, it will be a war fought by Europe against another European nation Russia.

“Europe is moving dangerously close to a direct clash between NATO and Russia, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has warned, accusing the West of seeking a “pretext” for a major conflict between the two sides.

Fico made the comment in a Facebook post on Thursday, which accompanied the remarks he delivered before traveling to Ukraine for a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky and several European leaders.

“I am deeply concerned that they are merely looking for a pretext for a major conflict between NATO and Russia,” he wrote.

Reflecting on the Ukraine conflict, Fico said that the hostilities had “gotten out of control,” while accusing European nations of engaging in increasingly bellicose rhetoric which he said risked dragging the continent into a broader war. “The situation has never been as serious and tense regarding the possibility of a pan-European war conflict as it is now”

On the subject of ‘Dishonesty and deceit” Craig’s previously wrote about King Charles’s less than wholesome associates.

Why are the BBC and other royalists, insisting King Charles has denied saying that which Earl Spencer alleges? The issued Palace statement :

“While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss.”

This is a classic “non-denial denial” – Clearly Buckingham Palace can’t reject his allegation as untrue outright, in case Charles Spencer has some recording, or proof.
Why would it be so surprising if he did say it? They’d separated, and she was dating Dodi Al Fayed at the time. Basically reveling in upstaging Charles, with exotic holidays and implying he was unfit to be King. She’d won over public opinion, because he’d cheated on her first, allegedly maintaining his relationship with Camilla throughout their marriage. The whole ‘Squidgygate’ leaked call, where she described being married to Charles as “torture,” came later. The trial of her former butler, Paul Burrell, came to a sudden halt, because of recorded evidence he allegedly had in his possession, of Diana being threatened by a senior royal in recorded calls.

Had she lived, Charles probably couldn’t have married Camilla, nor made her Queen. Harry revealed in ‘Spare’ both he and William had begged their father not to marry Camilla. The bitter rivalries of the ‘War of the Waleses’ as the press dubbed the fight between Charles and Diana, could well have brought down him and the monarchy.

I just checked out amazon, and his book was published on September 3rd and, presently, has six five star global ratings, and three reviews. And this is the ‘amazon’ review:

The world’s leading forensic scholar exposes international duplicity and complicity in the Gaza genocide.

Methodically debunking the claims of its apologists, Norman Finkelstein has for decades laid bare the cynical politics behind Israel’s high-tech killing sprees in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, he has been a unique voice in not just condemning Israel’s onslaught but also providing original and acute insight into it.

Now, in Gaza’s Gravediggers, Finkelstein turns his critical lens to the global enablers of genocide—those who distort truth and manipulate justice as they prostitute themselves to power and privilege.

With meticulous research and razor-sharp analysis, he systematically dissects and dismantles the most influential arguments defending Israel’s actions. He exposes how a United Nations special representative lent credence to an Israeli smear campaign, how officials in the world’s highest court perverted international law in Israel’s defence, and how even Israel’s severe critics colluded in misrepresenting genocide as a war.

This is more than a book; it is a searing indictment of those who abused their authority to whitewash an unfolding horror. Gaza’s Gravediggers serves as a clarion call for accountability, reminding those in power: the world is watching, and History will not forgive. “It will not be forgotten,” Finkelstein admonishes. “It will no longer be business as usual, if you choose to do the Devil’s work.”

        1) I think one has to be very cautious with such short excerpts when F. is speaking. He most likely was criticizing tactics of pro-Palestine activists/groups back then.

Remember until the 2010s there were still people who believed in a one-state solution with equal rights (the position you had if you were really pro-Palestinian and progressive since the 1970s, Edward Said et. al.). The solution once regarded as the ideal world superior to the 2-state solution which for all intents and purposes would have led to a failed Palestinian state sabotaged by the more powerful and far wealthier Israel at every corner.

        F. in this video snippet I believe is criitcal of the movement which is underestimating the power of Israel and its willingness to use that force even nukes. So – in his view – it made no sense to put out demands which Israel would never agree to – and due to its nuclear option could never be forced into accepting.

Which would ultimately harm the cause instead of bringing it forward. He used to be very strict on these things. And never shy of an argument.

It has to be added that before Oct. 7th Finkelstein had basically given up on the Gaza cause after he had dedicated 20 years of his life to it, probably the most dedicated Western expert until he surrendered. And some of his polarizing demeanor may also have come from that frustration. But there was never a more passionate and kind-hearted supporter of the Palestine cause.

        2) Same thing: Finkelstein was extremely suppoortive of the student movement post Oct. 7th. He joined them every day out in Grand Central when the big protests formed in November 2023. And it was the moment when for the first time he discovered hope again. I am quoting him. And with many Jewish students among them he actually felt even proud being Jewish in a rare moment. He also visited Columbia and spoke to the organizers. Also they were seeking his advice and his expertise. Finkelstein loves to teach. And loves to engage with young students since in his words they have not yet fallen prey to cynicism of the older ones. Which means mainly age 19-22.

However re: again political tactics – he opinioned against “River to the Sea” and urged them to use a different slogan (also told this the Mamdani campaign) for their cause and they eventually did change it. He was afraid that it could hurt them as regarded too offensive by those who might be sympathetic but uninformed and fearful of the slogan which was defamed by Israel immediately to render it ineffective on the MSM-level. In Europe that scheme by the Israelis as we know worked. In Germany the slogan was virtually banned.

These are all notions within the insiders discourse over how to position oneself in a more than hostile political and media environment.

Taken out of context it quickly comes across as the opposite of what Finkelstein, a heroic idealist (who I happen to have high regard for), in fact meant. It´s the usual problem when an old-fashioned intellectual type and scholar focused on reading books participates in political activism based on quick hit and runs, provocation and short slogans in a world of social media which he knows almost nothing of. He has no mobile afaik and he hardly even uses an ATM.

A bit off topic but apparently Denmark/Greenland sold themselves out to Trump in the end, quite chilling and disgusting, I thought the danes would stand up to Trump, instead they negotiated in secret and succumbed and now the media cover up for Denmark, claiming somehow Trump is the loser while in reality it was of course Denmark/Greenland that gave up part of their sovereignty.

This proves that threats and coercion work and the danish capitulation will only bolster Trump (in the upcoming elections) and other world leaders could now take similar measures against smaller states.
Quite strange, when Russia wanted more to say over Ukraine in terms of security, it was considered illegitimate, threatening, unacceptable according to the same Europeans. But they are the first one to give up their independence after threats from Trump.
These people have no principles whatsoever.

Not sure about the detail here. Jack, that is, I haven’t read anything about it. I just checked out JVL (which I haven’t done for a few days), and they reposted an article by Novara Media a couple of days ago about UKLFI calling for the proscription of Medicins Sans Frontières. Here’s the JVL introduction, by Leah Levane, which also contains a few links:

UK Lawyers (unequivocally, uncritically) for Israel has called for the proscription of Medicins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders), one of the most respected aid organisations providing essential health care across the world. While operating in Gaza, Israel has killed fifteen of their health professionals, along with c 1,000 other health workers.

UKLFI seems to have a huge ability to make life difficult for anyone or any organisation standing for Palestinian rights. In Middle East Eye’s coverage of this story they note that: “UKLFI appears 128 times in the European Legal Support Centre’s Britain Index of Repression database, which documents what it describes as the systematic repression of Palestine solidarity activism across Britain.” UKLFI allegations have often led to self censorship or refusal by some venues to let rooms for meetings because of valid fears of threats of legal action. Led By Donkeys created this video showing some of what they do: Instagram reel

Were it not so serious, it would be tempting to just regard this as chutzpah on steroids, not only because of the manifold acts of terror carried out by Israel but also because UKLFI’s charitable arm is currently under Charity Commission investigation.

    https://jewishvoiceforliberation.org.uk/article/uk-lawyers-for-israel-call-for-proscription-of-medicins-sans-frontieres/

As someone says in the comments, has any other country on the planet got a UK Lawyers for…..? And no doubt not just in the UK.

    • azymax

Unfortunately, yes, but not as such by moniker – France has CRIF, Conseil représentatif des institutions juives de France, a broad-based federation of Jewish associations, that has an over-active lawyer-driven component, ostensibly fixated on anti-semitism monitoring (but as set down by the IHRA definition), instigating litigation similar to that which UKLFI would like to provoke. However, it’s nowhere near as unsophisticated or needy as UKLFI, and more insidious in that it can achieve substantial administrative reaction against its Israel-critical targets without actually getting involved in the formal manoeuvres. When it does, it’s not beyond making a fool of itself.

And then there is LICRA – Ligue internationale contre le racisme et l’antisémitisme – established in 1927, predominantly concerned with anti-semitism, neo-nazism and holocaust denial. Also active in Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, and Portugal around Europe. In France, LICRA will often buddy-up with CRIF for issuance of proceedings.

UKLFI are not really so serious legally – their hoped-for victims just have to learn to front up to their threatening behaviour.

Greenland all but caves in – to Trump’s demands via Denmark.

“The government of Greenland and the Danish Prime Minister’s office have released a joint statement on an agreement with the United States.

Unsurprisingly, the statement does not match the sweeping nature of Trump’s post on Truth Social.

Denmark and Greenland are saying they expect to sign a new security agreement with the United States at the UN next week.

They say it will strengthen the Arctic and North Atlantic, while preserving Danish sovereignty and Greenland’s right to self-determination.

The agreement also has to go through parliament before it takes effect.

I don’t have any insight how that will be received but we do know that President Trump’s approval rating amongst the Danish is 4% (four percent).

Trump is describing that same agreement in much more sweeping terms, saying it gives the USA permanent control over Greenland’s security, the power to block adversaries from establishing military bases or making sensitive investments there, and the ability to build a major US military presence”

Mette Frederiksen has handed over sovereignty in all but name. That oily, obsequious Trump groveller, Mark Rutte, played a huge role in persuading the Danes. It’ll just create another flashpoint in the world. The UK asserts, with no territorial claim basis, it too should ‘police’ the Arctic. Take the Svalbard Treaty; Since 1920 the Treaty has functioned perfectly well, with Russia and Norway operating with mutual respect… the Treaty enshrines :

      – Equal Access: Citizens of all 49 member countries can enter, live, and work on the islands without needing a visa or a residence permit.

      – Demilitarization: Article 9 of the treaty forbids naval bases, fortifications, and using the islands for any warlike purposes.

But now, Norway, encouraged by the ever-warmongering UK, is accused of militarizing Svalbard : https://www.nordiskpost.com/2025/03/20/russia-svalbard-military/. For those in London who decide UK foreign policy, anything that annoys or causes problems for Russia, is seen as a good thing, whether in our national interest or not.

Trump’s Greenland obsession is all about Trump’s Golden Dome: the proposed $175 billion (expect massive cost overruns and it’ll probably end up costing $trillion) U.S. missile defense shield to intercept ICBMs. The region provides the shortest direct flight path for ICBMs traveling between Eurasia and North America. Without advanced northern tracking, the window to detect and intercept incoming warheads shrinks close to zero.

    • Brian Red

Trump is making far more specific statements about the as yet unsigned agreement than the Danish and Greenland governments are. They are probably lies, but they are more specific.

This is typical of the low level dishonesty and deceit of the European media, not “Russia’s war in Ukraine and the US and Israel’s war in the Middle East” or “the war in Ukraine and the Middle East conflict”. Many Americans still drive those big gas-guzzling 4x4s ; powerful four-wheel-drive trucks and SUVs which do around 15 to 18 combined MPG—due to their V8 or V6 engines. American heavy haulage and standard semi-trucks average around 4 to 8 miles per gallon (MPG), depending on the load weight obviously.

Staggering, to me, that 31% of Americans still support the war. Fox News must be doing the heavy lifting, selling it to what remains of MAGA.

Bayard – after a telephone call with the little Neo-Nazi dictator running Ukraine – EU big wig Ursula von der Leyen has agreed to send him 3 billion Euro’s – apparently Europe (EU) has sent Ukraine – a whopping 225 billion Euro’s since 2022 – is it any wonder then that Europeans are struggling with heating and eating – add in that EU big wigs helped to destroy European economies, especially in Germany with the destruction of the NordStream pipelines.

Yes that’s probably correct – but its economy didn’t quite collapse when the West orchestrated a war against it- using Ukraine as their proxy – and now Trump wants out – and the EU and Canada want to keep going – pumping increasing amounts of cash and weapons into Ukraine, and its the Canadian/ Atlantic archipelago -aka UK and European citizens that continue to suffer for it.

Ukraine can’t win – but it can cause an ecological disaster – very recently it blew up a cooling tower at a nuclear power plant in the Russian region of Kursk – and with the Neo-Nazi’s continued attacks on Europe’s largest nuclear power station the (ZNPP) – its only a matter of time before it happens.

“Ros, any idea how much Russia has spent on bombing the shit out of Ukraine?”

That is irrelevant. Russia can afford it, it has lots of hydrocarbons to tax. The European countries, apart from Norway, which isn’t in the EU, don’t. The money they send to Ukraine is not their money, it is borrowed, thus saddling the country with debt repayments and since the countries are already borrowing as much as they can, any money sent to Ukraine has to come from cuts in other budgets, like social security.

“There seems to be a perception that Russia is a wealthy country? Where are Russia’s exports (other than hydrocarbons) to the rest of the world?”

Presumbly you still think that exports make you rich. How last millennium! They don’t, not now all currencies are fiat. Al that they do is make you end up holding far too much currency that can only be spent in the country you’ve just exported to, as Russia is finding out with all the rupees it holds. Imports however, export your currency, which can then only be spent in your own country. It’s imports that make you rich, not exports.

Also what makes you think you need non-oil exports to make you rich, anyway? I suggest you bone up on real economics.

            JK redux.

There’s evidence to suggest Ukraine is flagging and almost done, it has reverted to drone strikes alone – it doesn’t have the manpower to hold any forward positions – the Polish premier Donald Tusk ( he’s very pro-Ukraine) has said the the Neo-Nazi dictatorship is loosing 27,000 troops a month

Even the little dictator Zelensky says -” This February, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky said at least 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed since the escalation of the conflict with Russia in February 2022. In July, he put the toll at 50,000 killed and 400,000 wounded, with “a huge number” still unaccounted for.”

The Neo-Nazi regime has drafted in mercenaries/terrorists from everywhere – but to no avail – Zelensky has drained the West of much of its weapons – old and new ones, Nato troops and commanders from several European nations and the US have organised sorties and attacks against Russia, sometimes in secret other times dressed in Neo-Nazi attire – as in the massacre of the French at Kursk – and a mixed group of Nato personnel killed at Mariupol – the then called Azov brigade (now the 3rd Assault Brigade) – tried desperately to sneak them out of the deep tunnels in Mariupol – but to no avail.

Russia’s doing something the Neo-Nazi dictator running Ukraine won’t do holding an election, okay – I’ll grant that they won’t be entirely democratic, but then again the Atlantic Archipelago aka UK has arrested 60,000 people for protesting against a genocide, and using free speech – and several PM’s have consecutively backed and aided in the genocide in Palestine, so I’d say there’s probably a bit more democracy in the Atlantic Archipelago than Russia – in Ukraine they shoot you in the head if you speak Russian or you go on the Myrotvorets hit list with Roger Waters or Woody Allen – and even some kids are on it.

At one point I think Nato even hosted the hit list for the Neo-Nazi’s.

          • Bayard

“The US was defeated by the Taliban and the Viet Cong. The USSR was defeated by the Taliban. What special attributes does Russia possess that ensure its Victory?”

What the Taliban, the Viet Cong have in common is that they were fighting for an idea. The US was fighting for money. The USSR was trying to prop up a secular government against Muslim extremists. Neither the Afghan government soldiers nor the Russians in Afghanistan were fighting to save their country. The Russian soldiers in Ukraine are. If you don’t believe me, ask yourself why the Russian forces in Ukraine are 100% volunteers whereas the Ukranian forces are nearly 100% conscript, as were the US soldiers in Vietnam. That’s Russia’s special attribute. The Ukrainians don’t want to fight. Half Ukraine’s population of fighting age has fled abroad and the government is reduced to press-ganging to recruit from the ones left. Presumably, even in Ireland, you have the adage, “one volunteer is worth ten pressed men”.

          • Bayard

“Any party that threatens Putin’s monopoly on power gets banned. Remember Alexander Navalny. Imprisoned and murdered.”

Yeah right, how did Navalny, unelectable with his Nazi-sympathising past and overt ties to the US, (they made a film about him FFS) and no, repeat no, member in the Duma, “threaten Putin’s monopoly on power”? The Russian want a leader who will stand up for Russia, not sell it out to the US. Navalny had f*** all to offer yer average Russian voter and unsurprisingly, very few people voted for him. He was the Russian equivalent of Bill Boakes, only much more unpleasant, with his Nazi-sympathising past. The real opposition to Putin is the Communist Party, not some Yank stooge.

You are defeating your own argument about Nazis in Ukraine. If there is no Nazi influence in Ukraine because there are no Nazi members in the Verkhovna Rada, then there was no opposition to Putin from Navalny’s party as it had no members in the Duma. Navalny was locked up because he was a criminal. If Putin was in the habit of locking up and/or bumping off his opposition, why did he not lock up Zhirinovsky?

Anyway Zelensky is on record saying that the Neo-Nazi brigades in Ukraine are what they are, they are also part of the National Guard of Ukraine – many streets are named after Ukrainian Nazi sympathisers – and there are many monuments to them as well, Zelensky had long dead Nazi loving war criminals – reinterred in Ukraine with full military honours, Netanyahu is Jewish – yet he is definitely a Zio-Nazi, so its absolutely possible that Zelensky can be, and is, a Neo-Nazi dictator.

‘ And the media, in some systematic effort, try to create a atmosphere that war is inevitable, articles in british, france, german media try to condition the western mind that war is now really behind the corner:’.

Absolutely. The degree of psychological * nudging * is truly shocking; and not a single politician – that I’ve seen, anyway, is even expressing caution about this drive to war – with a nuclear-armed nation – let alone speaking/crying-out about the absolute fckn lunacy of what’s being proposed.

Can there be a worse, more lying, more zealous promoter of duplicitous State narratives and pathetic jingoistic delusion, more morally/politically bankrupt than the UK MSM? : and any example of that degeneracy more egregious than the snivelling hypocrites of the Guardian? A total ( sick ) joke of a paper that at the same time as marching in unwavering lockstep with the rabid, pestilent dogs of war, promoting every infantile, intelligence-insulting, Putin demonising, ‘ Russian Menace ‘ garbage it’s told to, as well as the worst extremes of ridiculous, irrational ” Trans ” ideology, Mass Migration advocacy ( until that idiocy impacts on THEM personally, eg The Piddington Syndrome ) and the whole * Woke * Social Engineering psyops: and who proselytize the Neo-Religious Net Zero Commandment whilst supporting ongoing Ecocide, has the fckn breathtaking conceit to flog itself as a * Left Wing * ” we really care, maaaan ” voice of Reason and consider itself more enlightened than the * populist * tabloids it looks down on and which, though despicable, are no more so than the Guardian of Nothing. It is the epitome of ‘ Controlled Opposition ‘

Anyone supporting this descent into – possibly terminal – madness is only one of two things…….A fckn warmongering psychopath or a fckn dribbling moron incapable of independent, critical thought. Don’t anyone bother trying any ” more nuanced ” pish – those are only two categories of person applicable in the current situation

It comes down to one question only……’ do you want to see the planet destroyed, made uninhabitable; this stunningly beautiful and endlessly fascinating shining blue pearl in an infinity of darkness reduced to a poisoned, smouldering wasteland – or not ? ‘

Yes, Stevie, and you’re not alone in that perception.

Mind-scrambling as it is, there appears to be a coterie of utterly demented psycho/sociopaths, eg amongst the messianic Palantir/ ‘Tech Bro’ mob + their military & political beneficiaries/mouthpieces deranged enough to imagine a nuclear war can be waged AND WON and – somehow – they’ll still be around afterwards to have dominion over the ruins. Aye, good luck with that ya bunch of delusional clowns.

The question is ‘ who/what is actually driving this madness ? ‘. We know by now, or should, that the Burnhams/Merzes/Macrons/VdLs/Ruttes et al are mere parrots and monkeys, employed to do the bidding of their paymasters – whether that ‘ pay ‘ is financial or political, or both, is irrelevant, and given the illusion that THEY have power; the point is they are not the ones in control of these policies and decisions: the Political System we live UNDER is such that it creates the illusion that they are and that a vote every 5 years for a particular shade of the monochrome Uniparty has efficacy – it has no such thing. Obviously.

We can make fairly well-informed deductions about who/what comprise these ‘ Known Unknowns ‘ but it’s extremely difficult to know EXACTLY who they are; because I’ve always thought the real power brokers prefer the shadows to the light and the ham actors who ‘ strut & fret their hour upon the stage ‘ for the * entertainment * of the Hoi Polloi are distracting the rabbits-in-the-hat. The ‘ hat ‘ itself the possession of the Elite of the Elite.

‘ Western Liberal Democracy ‘ has ALWAYS been a mirage, but never has that mirage been at the same time so laughably transparent ( bitterly ironic, given the complete lack of actual transparency in *our * political system ) and so potentially fatal. If the mass of people don’t wake from their deliberately induced ( oh Kate said WHAT about Meghan? ) narcolepsy they’ll be treated even more as ‘ useless eaters ‘ – hence utterly disposable – than they are presently.

One of the European propaganda organs published a map of Russian “provocations” in NATO countries recently. One was a plant as obvious as an oak tree in the middle of a field (the Leipzig drone), five were drone attacks that were not attributed to Russia, of which two were only “possible” drone attacks and two were fires at armaments factories, armaments being an industry with a long history of factories catching fire or exploding.

Julian Assange is officially back on Twitter, restoring to the world an important voice we were robbed of by the US empire’s years-long campaign to silence the WikiLeaks founder via lifelong imprisonment for forbidden acts of journalism.
Not everyone will remember it but there was a time when this was almost impossible to imagine. It seemed almost certain that this man was going to die in Belmarsh Prison or spend his remaining years in some hellhole in America.
Now whenever my nephew catches me or my husband expressing pessimism about something working out, he tells us “Hey. Assange is free now.” It’s become our family code for “Anything’s possible. Don’t give up hope.”

Around ~1195 Israelis died on October 7, 815 were civilians and many of those deaths were allegedly at IDF hands; as they have a policy of preventing, at all costs, Israeli hostages being taken into Gaza and used for propaganda. At least 77,036 Gazans have been murdered to date – a figure Israel doesn’t dispute, and that’s probably a massively conservative estimate, with many, many more still buried under the rubble and those succumbing to old age and disease and untreated illness in rat infested camps.

And how many WWI & 2 related programmes, obsessively covering every aspect/angle however, at times, tenuous the connection may be, has the BBC shown? It must run into 1000s

I noticed at the start of Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza previously shown documentaries about the Nazi Era were repeated as well as old and newly produced docs and movies about, basically, Jewish suffering over the centuries and into the modern era; as well as related material about, eg the Rise of Hitler and many docs about ‘ the Jewish Experience in Europe ‘. The holocaust must at all times be placed at the forefront of public consciousness. It is just that the intensity of such * programming * increases according to ‘ requirements ‘

Not to say Jewish people have not suffered over the centuries, but you would think, eg by the relentless focus on and sheer number of such programmes, that ONLY Jews have been subjected to persecution: but have they done so any more than say the victims of Slavery, Native Americans – North, Central & South – or Colonial Africa, India, the Antipodes? All of which were ethnically cleansed to extreme degrees.

The BBC is nothing more than the * Creative * arm of Brit State propaganda; particularly in the latter’s military aspect; though it’s blatant Brit State bias was manifested with significant effect during the Scottish Independence Campaign – and continues unabated, if slightly less brazenly, ie more insidiously

“even the security services mouthpiece Tom Tugendhat in an interview on LBC a few days ago – mentioned the Charge of the Light Brigade”

Did he mention it was famous for being one of the worst military blunders ever in British history? Yeah, that’s really going to get them rallying round the flag, an example of hundreds of soldiers needlessly dying because of some incompetent fool.

UK ministers warn we are at risk of ‘hybrid’ attack from Russia, while people at the MoD fist pump and ‘whoop and holler’ as video emerges (telegraph) https://www.telegraph.co.uk/ of British provided and guided drones, slamming into Moscow.

Parliament clearly isn’t functioning when the UK population can be put in grave danger with zero debate.

    • Goose

If a catastrophic wider war comes, the decision to provide Ukraine with offensive capability to strike deep within Russia will be viewed by future war historians as the critical juncture.
At that point; moving away from helping defend, to helping attack, we became co-belligerents and a legitimate target. There is only Article 5 protecting the UK, Germany, Finland., Poland the Baltics et al. We’re basically hiding behind our U.S.,big brother protector, taunting and daring Russia to attack. I have little doubt, that If the U.S.withdrew from NATO altogether, European supplies of offensive capability to Ukraine would cease, and talk in EU capitals would turn to peaceful resolution.

      • Stevie Boy

Ukraine is the aggressor. IMO, the UK’s involvement has never been about defence, it’s always been about using Ukraine as a proxy to attack Russia.

        • Goose

Ukraine is fighting to survive as a viable state. If a total Ukrainian collapse came, Russia would advance all the way to the Dnieper and annex Odesa, leaving Ukraine landlocked, no doubt.
I have no problem with helping Ukraine defend themselves, its offensive capability that’s the issue here, as it invites retaliation on the UK and Europe.

Neither Europe, nor the US would tolerate a third party providing some poorly equipped country, or group, with sophisticated capabilities to attack the US or European mainland and capitals, like that. Imagine the Houthis armed with dozens of P-800 Oniks and Russian ministers boasting, they will be providing as many as they need and other capabilities, to achieve a ‘just’ outcome..

          • Stevie Boy

Ukraine is fighting as a western proxy, nothing more. The reality is that if no-one ‘helped’ the Ukranians then peace would break out. Russia wants a nuetral Ukraine, it doesn’t want to invade or even police the place. As long as the west keeps supporting Ukraine there is only one guaranteed result, utter defeat and enforced nuetrality. Ukraine started this disaster with the west’s help, Russia will end it, one way or another.

          • Robert Hughes

I bear no ill will to the PEOPLE of Ukraine, or anywhere else, Goose; but if Russia does ” advance all the way to the Dnieper and annex Odessa ‘ whose fault will that be? To me there is no ambiguity here, it will be the fault, principally, of the U.S and it’s Deep State ‘ Three Letter Agencies ‘, the Euro Vassal States and the Azov Blood & Soil Uber-Nationalist elements and, of course, the despicable, corrupt-to-the-core Zelensky Criminal Org who – for * gold * – allowed their country to be used as a pawn in the hegemonic intent of all the aforementioned sickoes.

Verily, they shall reap what they have sown. As always, it’s the * ordinary * people of that country who will pay/are paying the highest price: as is the case in every similar situation

          • Robert Hughes

@ Stevie. Exactly. This utter pish about Russia’s supposed imperial designs is so obviously nonsense it defies belief that there are still – allegedly intelligent – people parroting it.

“I have no problem with helping Ukraine defend themselves, its offensive capability that’s the issue here, as it invites retaliation on the UK and Europe.”

I do. Ukraine could have made peace in 2022. It didn’t. The war in Ukraine is none of the UK’s business. Do yo really think we’d be helping the Ukranians if they had been invaded by the Poles, determined to take back that part of Ukraine that, historically, was part of Poland?

Laura Kuenssberg, on her show this morning: “Is it for people who are singers, songwriters, artists to be taking public positions on very, very controversial, difficult, complicated issues?”

Is being against mass-murder in Gaza all that complicated? The fact she framed it that way, is a form of apologism on her part. She has Jewish ancestry.

I’d have asked her, if she thinks people should’ve spoken out about the holocaust, or was that ‘complicated’ too, using her words?

        • Republicofscotland

          Goose.

For me Kuenssberg is an establishment mouthpiece – similar to Marr and O’Neil – many so called stars and celebrities don’t open their mouths to condemn this genocide for fear of hurting their careers – most of them are shallow insignificant idiots – who have ego’s the size of a house – others keep their mouth shut – because the Zionists have something on them via the Epstein Files.

The BBC will always frame the narrative to suit Israel – what do you expect from a state propaganda machine – the truth? not likely.

          • Goose

Someone will probably create a meme, with her making the inverted commas gesture, with a caption : Gaza : it’s complicated.

            It really isn’t.

Imagine being torn about what’s happening there. If someone thinks loyalty to Israel demands indifference to such suffering, then that person is taking their loyalties too far,.

          • Republicofscotland

            Goose

Indeed a full blown genocide is underway in Palestine – and many of the Wests leaders are either backing it – or denouncing it whilst funnelling weapons and fuel to Israel – I think with the US backing the genocide – many nations leaders are too afraid to go against the US – other world leaders are utterly compromised via the Epstein Files and daren’t do or say anything against the genocide its a sorry state of affairs – and when in the future leaders look back on this episode in humanity, they’ll be utterly ashamed of their nations leaders inactions back then to stop the genocide.

I myself never ever want to read or hear a world leader complain about human rights in another nation, when they’ve stood by and watch a genocide in Gaza, oh and Israel has no fixed borders – so the genocide will spread to the West Bank and Lebanon.

Kuenssberg and the BBC are just an example of the sickness – a sickness that’s ailing the world today – where genocide has become acceptable to much of the world’s leaders.

        • M.J.

As I understand, Laura Kuenssberg’s bound by statutory guidelines regarding impartiality and neutrality. When guests or interviewees on her programme have used the term “genocide”, she has consistently noted that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has not made a final legal ruling to that effect, reflecting the BBC’s standard editorial policy.

Of course as private citizens we can note that Amnesty International has found Israel guilty of apartheid as well as genocide.

BTW I saw Laura Kuenssberg’s full interview with Charles Spencer, worth watching.

          • JohnnyOh45

            Hi M.J.
As I undestand Ms Kuenssberg should also statutorily be bound to report that under the Genocide Convention with its proceedings under the competency of the International Court of Justice vis a vis South Africa filing its case againsr Israel: that the UK and other signatories to the Genocide Convention have a positive duty to prevent Genocide as set out below ( in case you were not aware).

The legally binding operational obligations, as defined by the court’s interim measures to prevent genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, include the following:

            1. Positive Duties Enforced Directly upon IsraelAs the state party to which the orders are addressed, Israel bears the immediate duty of conduct to actively enforce the court’s directives:
The Duty to Prevent Core Genocidal Acts: Take all measures within its power to prevent the commission of acts under Article II of the Convention. This includes halting the killing of Palestinians, stopping the infliction of serious bodily or mental harm, and preventing conditions of life calculated to bring about physical destruction.
The Duty of Total Military Control: Direct all armed forces, regular military units, and irregular armed groups under its control or influence to strictly desist from committing any of the prohibited acts listed above.
The Duty to Prevent and Punish Incitement: Actively suppress and criminally prosecute the direct and public incitement to commit genocide against Palestinians, including genocidal rhetoric from public and state officials.
The Duty to Deliver Basic Services and Humanitarian Aid: Facilitate, rather than merely permit, the unhindered entry and distribution of urgently needed food, clean water, medical equipment, apparel, hygiene items, and fuel to combat famine and catastrophic conditions of life. Subsequent modifications explicitly required keeping vital land border crossings, such as the Rafah crossing, open to scale up aid.
The Duty to Limit Military Operations: Halt military offensives and any actions in specific administrative areas (e.g., the Rafah Governorate) that risk creating conditions threatening the physical destruction of the population.
The Duty to Preserve Evidence: Implement active measures to prevent the destruction of, and ensure unrestricted access to, any evidence or documentation related to allegations of acts falling under Articles II and III. This includes allowing access to UN-mandated fact-finding and investigative bodies.
The Duty of Regular Reporting: Submit formal, comprehensive compliance reports directly to the ICJ detailing every concrete measure taken to give effect to the court’s orders.

            2. Positive Duties Enforced upon Third-Party SignatoriesThe Bosnian Genocide precedent dictates that because the obligation to prevent genocide is erga omnes (owed to the international community as a whole), the ICJ’s finding of a “plausible risk” of genocide in Gaza triggers mandatory duties for all other treaty signatories:
The Duty of Due Diligence to Influence: Employ all reasonable, lawful means within their political, diplomatic, and economic power to influence Israel to comply with the interim measures and prevent genocidal acts.
The Duty to Prevent Complicity (Article III): Cease or withhold any material, financial, military, or tactical support—most notably discontinuing arms sales and military assistance—if such supplies are likely to enable or facilitate the violation of the ICJ’s interim orders.
The Duty to Invoke Multilateral Interventions: Proactively engage competent bodies of the United Nations under Article VIII of the Convention (such as the UN Security Council or General Assembly) to advocate for political resolutions, permanent ceasefires, or enforcement mechanisms to uphold the interim measures.

In a further illustration of how out-of-touch and politically right-leaning the BBC are, they’ve been platforming billionaire tax-exile, Jim Ratcliffe to push his views, on fiscal policy; demanding welfare spending be slashed. Ratcliffe, CEO of Ineos chemicals, quit the UK under the Tories, so it’s difficult to imagine a tax regime that would satisfy him? Surely, once you quit for tax purposes, you lose any right to directly influence policy. It’s a wonder European states don’t put these tax exiles on billboards, so everyone knows who they are, in an attempt to shame them. The only reason they have any wealth at all, is because they were born in a country that allowed them to amass it.

Burnham should call him out and Daren Whitaker, the property magnate and founder of the Renaker group who took the lion’s share – around £615 million – from the Greater Manchester Housing Investment Loans Fund (GMHILF) to build a skyscraper, with money that was meant for “affordable” housing. Whitaker now lives in Monaco. All such tax havens should be closed down under threat, and would be, were it not for western politicians being so corrupt and taking backhanders. What purpose do European and other tax havens serve for wider society? What about the greater good, politicians and intel chiefs preach? The poor and those with average earnings can’t similarly opt-out of tax, We go to war over less.

    • Goose

It’s not personal, I don’t blame them, as anyone in their position would be advised, by experts, to do the same.

It shouldn’t be possible, is my point. There should be Citizenship-Based Taxation which can’t be renounced(domestic or EU law); something similar to the way the U.S. taxes its citizens and permanent residents on their global income regardless of where they live. Moving abroad does not automatically end U.S. tax obligations.

This is why Boris Johnson, who was born in the US and moved to the UK when he was 5-years old, renounced his US citizenship: It was costing him too much!

The govt is already looking at this, after Christopher Harborne’s and Ben Delo’s donations of £36 million each, to Reform. They are based in Thailand and Hong Kong respectively. Their UK tax and residency status, is the only real issue.

Well Trump signed the bill – it landed on his desk the other day – as for Lindsey Graham, he was a bigger warhawk than Mad Dog Bolton – it shows us the mentality in US House of Reps (which passed the bill) that they named it after Graham.

“US President Donald Trump has signed a sweeping sanctions bill, taking aim at Russia’s economy by punishing major purchasers of its oil and gas.

The bill, passed by the US House of Representatives earlier this week, gives Trump broad powers to levy tariffs of up to 100% on the top five purchasers of Russian oil and gas – most significantly China and India.

At Trump’s behest, the bill also extends to Iran’s energy and weapons sectors.

The bill is named after the late Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Ukraine’s staunchest defenders in Washington before his death on 11 July.

The 48-page bill, formally titled the Lindsey O Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, includes exceptions for countries that import less than 15% of their natural gas from Russia and are working to lessen their dependency.”

The price for the unjust war on Iran for America just keeps growing – I actually feel a bit sorry for the US taxpayer – as Trump bleeds them dry- to enrich US companies around the globe via sanctions intimidation and outright force.

“WASHINGTON – The war in Iran has cost the U.S. military $43.6 billion as of Sept. 3, according to an update shared with congressional national security committees by U.S. Central Command.

The cost update, which was viewed by USA TODAY, is almost certainly an undercount. It does not include costs to repair buildings at U.S. bases across the Middle East that were damaged or destroyed by Iranian strikes during the war, including the U.S. Navy’s logistics hub in Bahrain.

The Pentagon estimated that it has spent $28.1 billion to replace expended munitions like bombs and air defense interceptors since the U.S. and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran on Feb. 28. The prolonged conflict in the Middle East has caused a shortage of critical munitions that could leave the U.S. vulnerable in other parts of the world, such as the Indo-Pacific.”

Trump says planned arch would be military complex for drones and snipers.

    He’s insane, isn’t he?

Unless he expects an insurrection, why is he militarizing monuments? His controversial $400 million White House ballroom project also includes a massive underground military complex and defense infrastructure, which the administration cites as a national security necessity. The U.S. is at zero risk of military invasion. Is he paranoid that some country will do to him, what they did to Venezuela’s leader? It’s the only explanation for this Tony Stark security infrastructure he’s demanding.

He’s also going to create an AI Force and appoint an AI ‘Czar’ – it’ll probably be someone spectacularly unqualified. Remember when he appointed Rudy Giuliani as his ‘cybersecurity’ adviser in his first term, because in Trump’s words, “Nobody in the U.S. knows more about cyber than Rudy”.

Further to other previous comments on AI. if a Level II (Type II) civilization on the Kardashev Scale, arrived in Earth’s orbit, and asked to speak to the leader of the west, it’d be a case of, “with all due respect, that might not be such a good idea. Is there anyone else you’d like to speak to?”

Trump’s ‘ arch ‘ will go the same way as Reagan’s ‘ Star Wars ‘ ‘ infallible ‘ defence programme, ie oblivion. These things are never anything more than ways to funnel even more $Gazzilions into the M.I.C and kid the people paying for them – the U.S Taxpayer – on that they’re getting/buying 100% protection from whatever bogus threat de jour is being promoted.

IRONY ALERT! ( again )……I wonder if the U.S public en masse will ever understand the gravest threat they face – and have ever faced – is internal: eg from the very people feeding them the supposed external threats

The arch will effectively be a weapons dump – I suppose it kind of sums up what America is all about.

“Donald Trump is proffering a new argument for building his triumphal arch in Washington DC: it will be converted into a “top grade military complex” replete with drone and ammunition storage space and customised sniper facilities on the roof and plaza.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Sunday morning, Trump claimed that his new plan came at the “strong request” of the US military. He said the 250ft structure would be able to “house, store, and have the rapid ability to use large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage”.”

A protest against his illegal incarceration was planned for the 27th of this month – so the current Western puppet running Pakistan had his entire family arrested before they could demonstrate.

One of the real reasons why they want a cashless society – keep cash alive.

“You give a £50 note to a butcher, who then buys from the baker, who then buys from the candlestick maker, it’s worth £50 to each of them, & after 50 transactions it’s still worth £50

If you pay by card, the bank takes 1.5%, 3% or even 5%

The butcher, baker and candlestick maker all have to pay the bank for the privilege of transacting, and by 50 transactions…
