I would be interested to understand their thinking.
On one hand they want airport expansion, with massive new concrete runways and a greater throughput of air traffic, with no tax on aviation fuel. An increase in one and a half million new homes in less than five years.
Then on the other hand they want us to think that Carbon dioxide is the biggest evil under the sun.
The British Electricity Grid must be 95% Carbon free in less than five years.
      Are these two views compatible?

Anti CO2 government; and yet in addition to the genocidal killings, Israel has released more CO2 into the air (by bombing the shit out of Gaza) during the last 18months, than virtually every country in the world apart from the USA and China.

“Studies suggest that producing one ton of cement can release 550-1000 kg of CO2 equivalent”
It has been suggested that cement making and concrete making are the fourth largest causes of Carbon dioxide outpourings to the air.

Wikipedia says 900kg of CO2 for every ton of cement.

So given that the 3 Gorges Dam contains around 65 million tons of concrete, I think we are already doomed.

I am beginning to think we are being duped by our leaders.
If our new Labour Government were so convinced that Global Warming was an existential threat to all life on Earth, one must ask why are they intending to big up the Royal navy and take on Russia in a World War?

Beginning?! What took you so long?

“I would be interested to understand their thinking.”

It’s pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Governments of all colours pander to billionaires and big businesses, but precisely which big money they pander to the most varies by party. Broadcast mass ‘news’ media is the same.

Generally, Labour pander to newer money while Conservative pander to older money. Both pander to the war industry. Give it a try:

“…they want airport expansion, with massive new concrete runways and a greater throughput of air traffic, with no tax on aviation fuel.”

Increased air traffic boosts “economic growth” (i.e. private sector profits) because all the business big-wigs have to manically jet around the world in Business Class to hold meetings. Oh; and aviation is very close to, even part of, the war industries.

“An increase in one and a half million new homes in less than five years.”

This is a boon to the building sector* and a favour to landlordism. One in twenty in Britain is now a landlord. There are plenty of potential homes in Britain, especially above town centre shops, but it would take changes in law and taxation to stop them standing empty. *Note, a boon to the building sector which is dominated by massive conglomerates that build entire estates, not to Bob your self-employed Builder for whom a new garage or garden wall is a big contract.

“The British Electricity Grid must be 95% Carbon free in less than five years.”

Here’s Labour favouring new money over old. But no party wants the organised power of the National Union of Mineworkers back.

The charges relate to three incidents – a vehicle fire in Kentish Town, north London, a fire at the prime minister’s private home on the same street and a fire at an address that he previously lived in Islington, north London.

The man has been taken to a London police station and remains in custody”

Sir Keir Starmer, seems to be beset by troubles, from many sides.
I wonder how much longer he can hang on to the job of Prime minister.
Announcing spending billions on a new cold war, probably will not save him.
