Thanks for the link, ET! It looks interesting, I’ll read it carefully this evening, thank you!

I noticed that they use the word “oblast” as a transcription, without translating the meaning into English. Then I’ll explain that my country is a federation of 89 entities, including Republics, Autonomous regions, Oblasts and Krais. These names are mostly historical, the regions are legally equal (however, republics can declare their own state language).

We have two regions with very similar names: Krasnoyarsk Krai (north) and Krasnodar Krai (south). I’ll entertain you with local humor. The title is “How to distinguish a resident of Krasnodar Krai from a resident of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Well, to add to the picture of ‘German tanks then and now’
        https://pikabu.ru/story/leopardu_opuskayut_stvol_11372812/author#comments
A Leopard tank is being prepared for an exhibition of captured NATO equipment. The barrel of its gun is being lowered, as the very first comment says, “so it doesn’t look like a Nazi salute.”
The comments also say that the US ordered Ukraine to remove Abrams away from the front line, since their presence at the trophy exhibition in Moscow makes bad PR.

military expert Andrei Martyanov with his take on the 1943-Kursk anniversary:

          ” To Those Who Forgot…
… today is the anniversary of the conclusion of the Kursk Battle. I underscore again German numbers on any operation and losses are primarily fiction as is most what is written in the West (that is to say written by Wehrmacht losers). ”

Tatyana, I hope you and your family are well and you are far enough away from the Kursk assault to be safe.
I noticed you mentioned in the main thread that you had used nitter but it was now down. You might not have come across nitter.poast.org which is usable for now. You might want to check out this thread on these forums first though.

Well that did I say, the baltics are lunatics, I would not be surprised that after Ukraine, the Baltics will actually be next, but not because some imperial dreams by Russia but because of the constant provocations by the immature, warmongering, racist balts triggering a conflict with Russia themselves, then, we will see how tough they are…

As I said before I trust Andrei Martyanov´s military expertise (it´s not about the style but figures and content) e.g. on Kursk. He IS a true military expert unlike most bloggers.

Usually he quotes official media and state sources. Now he quotes Kit Klarenberg´s blog who sums up US discontent with British conduct:

                http://smoothiex12.blogspot.com/2024/08/leaning-on-london.html#disqus_thread

                “(…)
… commenting on Starmer’s wideranging efforts to compel overt Western action against Russia, a “defence expert” told The Times: “if it looks as if the Brits [are] too far ahead of their NATO allies, it might be counterproductive.” This analysis is prescient, for there are ample indications London’s latest attempt to ratchet tensions and drag the US and Europe ever-deeper into the proxy war quagmire has already been highly “counterproductive”, and boomeranged quite spectacularly. Indeed, it appears Washington has finally had enough of London’s escalatory connivances. In repeated press conferences and media briefings since August 6th, US officials have firmly distanced themselves from the Kursk incursion, denying any involvement in its planning or execution, or even being forewarned by Kiev. Empire house journal Foreign Policy has reported that Ukraine’s swoop caught the Pentagon, State Department, and White House off-guard.
                (…)”

                original:
                “Britain’s Kursk Invasion Backfires?”
                https://www.kitklarenberg.com/p/britains-kursk-invasion-backfires

Martyanov repeatedly points out that it´s essentially the lack of training and operational skill on the part of NATO leadership that doomed the entire NATO war effort. And part of that is Kursk which simply is based on the same faulty and utterly outdated military patterns.

A few weeks ago he had quoted from a US military publication from 2018. There US personnel had confirmed that American armed forces are not trained and fit to execute their usual modus operandi under attack by peer enemy forces.

This should not be surprising consindering
                1) the US Army is an expeditionary army
                2) as such it fought 3rd and 4th rate enemies. So essentially the necessity of developing high level expertise to conduct real war against peers never arose.

They should have thought about that before 2014.

For the US article on the US military from 2018:

“What Should the Brigade Be Doing Right Now?
Deconstructing the ‘Brigade Fight’” (t´s in the lower part of content)
                https://www.moore.army.mil/infantry/magazine/issues/2018/Oct-Dec/

For the quotes from the above downloadable pdf see Martyanov at TC 20:00 (I have no time to look them up again right now)
                http://smoothiex12.blogspot.com/2024/08/when-all-of-your-advantages.html#disqus_thread

(But search the terms he quotes in the pdf via C&P and you find it easily in the original source.)

To change armies takes decades. This would be no problem if NATO were abandoned or at least would do what it is supposed to based on the Washington Treaty of 1949: defend only.

So the incompetence comes with a high level of illegality. Along not keeping to the Paris Accords to solve conflicts peacefully which was agreed to by NATO. They caused it all themselves. And if NATO regards RU as the new dragon to be slayed – it´s all of their own making.

Suffice to say the dragon is not a dragon it´s a human being.
If there is a dragon, it´s NATO.

For the second day in Russian social networks wwe discuss the loss of Ukraine’s F-16 fighter jet due to a hit from the Patriot system.
Today, a commentary by Julian Roepke from the Bild was published. He uses an extremely curious phrase “instead of acknowledging this, an alternative truth was spread” 🙂
                  https://pikabu.ru/story/sorevnovaniya_po_novoyazu_prodolzhayutsya_11761429

Below Julian’s text is the commentary by Ukrainian MP Marianna Bezugla, where she claims that due to discoordination, the american Patriot system shot down an american F-16 fighter jet and the pilot Alex ‘Moonfish’ Mes was killed.
Zelensky fired the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force.
And the Russians are making up jokes, as usual, like this one
                  https://pikabu.ru/story/pogoryachilis_11760209
                  the caption says:

                    https://swentr.site/russia/603320-zelensky-blamed-battlefield-setbacks/

Russia have itself to blame by now in my honest view, Russia have more soldiers and have atleast a bit more overall of a qualitative power / upper hand. Still the ongoing attack on Russia proper goes on unhindered, it is not like Mexico would be able to freely attack the United States like this, US would track down and wipe the soldiers off the map instantly. There is no surprise that Nato support the incursions when Russia do nothing about it.
The longer this war goes on the more it is obviousy, atleast for me, is that Russia have zero plan, zero understanding, zero will and overall zero preperation for this idiotic war. Overall it is like the russian fight with sticks and stones.

He happens to live in Uppsala: Malcom Kyeyune

Very nice crisp comment by him:

                        final paragraph:

“European geopolitical discourse will take a sharp turn towards a peculiar sort of victim-blaming. No doubt it will be “discovered” that parts of Ukraine’s military consisted of very unsavoury characters waving around Nazi Germany-style emblems, just as it will be “discovered” that journalists have been persecuted by oligarchs and criminals in Kyiv, or that money given by the West has been stolen, and that arms sent have been sold for profit to criminal cartels around the world.

All of these developments will duly be “discovered” by a Western political class that will completely refuse to accept any responsibility for them. Far easier, it seems, to calm one’s nerves with a distorting myth: it’s the Ukrainians’ fault that their country is destroyed; our choices had nothing to do with it; and besides, they were bad people who tricked us!”

Not a dumb question at all, I know of him yes. While I have not followed him as such he have good articles every now and then. Ever since he began to widen the perspective on how swedes should look at the Ukraine conflict he was banished and smeared by the mainstream media which is sooo typical of cancel-culture-land-of Sweden – you cannot say anything outside of the approved narrative without being smeared, just the other day a renowned swedish opera singer – Mattias Milder – was smeared in the media for slamming swedish journalists after they were embedded with the ukrainian invaders into Kursk, the pathetic journalists could not take it and did multiple hit-pieces against him:

Singer suspended from Royal Swedish Opera over ‘pro-Russia’ comments

                          https://brusselssignal.eu/2024/08/singer-suspended-from-royal-swedish-opera-over-pro-russia-comments/

I do not know how it is in Germany but the first page/headline of tabloid media have Putin/Russia related topics like 95% of the time. And stupid headlines, like “Putin is about die” “Sources: Putin will fall tomorrow” , “Putin use a doppleganger” and so on…senseless.
Even if you do not know swedish you can tell how obsessed media here is with Putin:

Is it the same in Germany?

In other news, Ukraine coming dangerously close to Kreml once again:

The alleged friends of Ukraine keep moving the goal posts:

Polish PM threatens to block Ukraine’s EU bid
Kiev must resolve the Volyn massacre issue to get Warsaw’s support for its EU accession bid, Polish PM Donald Tusk says

At least 60,000 ethnic Poles were killed between 1943 and 1944 in the historical regions of Volhynia and Eastern Galicia, which currently belong to Ukraine, by militants with the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). Some historians estimate that the toll is even higher, suggesting the massacre had up to 120,000 victims. While Warsaw has recognized the massacre as a genocide of Poles, modern Ukraine has been celebrating the perpetrators behind it as “freedom fighters” and “national heroes.”

Yes it seems the anti-russian attitude that nations like Sweden, Germany, Finland, Baltics had during WW2 have come back and taken over totally.
Is there still a difference in the West Germany/East Germany on how they view Russia?

And speaking on embedded journalits from the west, they are the most naive of people, how could you be from italy (see story below), and not recognizing fascist, nazi logos? I mean, on the one hand the same type of western journalists ridicule and reject any claim that there are nazi/fascist views within considerable part of ukrainian military and then…. they embed themselves and interviewing them live on tv:

Italian state TV normalizing Nazi symbols – Moscow
A Rai News 24 journalist interviewed a Ukrainian serviceman who was wearing SS insignia, Maria Zakharova has pointed out

                                  https://swentr.site/news/602772-italian-tv-broadcast-nazi/

CNN also coordinated the invasion with Ukraine:

Moscow charges CNN journalist with illegal border crossing
Nick Paton Walsh traveled to the Russian city of Sudzha while embedded with Ukrainian troops

                                  https://swentr.site/news/602967-cnn-reporter-charged-russia/

Is it not interesting by the way how west openly support when Ukraine invade, kill civilians, kidnap russians and shoot indicriminately in Kursk, while the same journalits condemn when palestinians did the same on october 7?
But I assume it is just according to the fluid “rules based west”-logic.

Ukraine – Russian Missile Strike Hits Swedish Instructors

A Russian missile strike on the Ukrainian Military Institute of Communications in Poltava has at least killed 41 and wounded two hundreds. Other sources claim higher numbers.

Poltava is about 120 kilometer from the Russian border. The warning times after the missile launch was allegedly too short for everyone to reach the bunkers.

The Institute of Communications is training radio and radar operators. Its main multi-story building has been completely destroyed.

Britta Ellwanger, a (former?) Swedish volunteer with the Ukrainian army wrote that Swedish friends of hers, also volunteering with the Ukrainian army, were among those who died in the strike.

Taibbi on Monday suggested that now they try to use the “playbook” not Russia but Musk and media outlets as the baddies.

But it ain´t gonna change anything. Walter Kirn said, he heard Trump-insiders say that they are only scared over how well the Nov. chances look for them. Scared that they might miss some trap because it´s too easy for them,.
At least according to that comment.

Of course “Reporters without Borders” and alike are nowhere to be seen. Stupid me, forgot that the journalits were not ukrainian and the bulldozing sickos were russians…

It seems Swedish FM resigned after RUs destroyed that command post aka Pokrovsk “school”, an attack where countless specialists by SAAB would perish.

Experts who were operating Swedish AWACs with a radar range of around 400km.

Their role was to accompany F-16s, and warn them of incoming RU missiles while F-16s would carry JASSMs as far as possible, launch and then return to base.

Of course in the Western media you hear nothing about this.
What are these people being paid for?

p.s. And I am sorry to say, you were right, they are indeed trying – again – to spin Russiagate.
                                                It´s really annoying, man.

Yes it is hard to get a clear picture what happend in Poltova, the swedish media and the army her in Sweden came out denying it but that does not prove anything, it is not like they would admit if swedes actually were killed.

What we know for a fact however is that people were killed in Poltova – so who were they? And why were the west so quick to condemn this specific attack? Very suspicious and probably signal that there were indeed western/Nato advisors amongst those killed:

Statement from President Joe Biden on Russian Attack on Poltava, Ukraine

Then there are some claims that Nato flights hovering around Poltova after the attack.

🇪🇺🇺🇦🇷🇺‼️🚨 The most obvious evidence of the effectiveness of the missile strike on Poltava was the swarm of NATO medical aircraft (USA, Germany, Poland, Romania).

They were evacuating both wounded instructors and the dead bodies. In cities like Berlin, police guarded convoys of ambulances rushed to hospitals by the evening. (Follower witness)

At the same time, the “legalization” of the dead NATO personnel began: US Army Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Kamara died suddenly in Poland.

Ahead of us are many unexpected helicopter, yacht and private jet crashes or hiking incidents all over the world, with sudden passing NATO personell.

MOSCOW, September 6 — RIA Novosti. About 500 specialists, including mercenaries from European countries, were killed and wounded after the attack on the training center in Poltava, a high-ranking military source said. “About 500 specialists were killed and wounded. Among the dead and wounded: servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard — communications specialists, operators of electronic warfare systems, electronic intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as foreign mercenaries from Poland, France, Germany and Sweden who trained Ukrainian military personnel,” the statement said. He also stressed that such strikes on deployment points of Ukrainian servicemen and mercenaries, as well as on military facilities, will now become regular.

And also see this one on not-built defenses in Kursk which has enabled the incursion, now a case on trial

                                                      “(…)
“Deputy Governors of Kursk Oblast have been called in as witnesses in a case on the failure to meet deadlines for the construction of defense structures on the border with Ukraine. The local prosecutor’s office went to court because the defense lines, which were supposed to appear in the region on August 1, have still not been built. According to Mash, the case was sent back to Kursk for a new trial after the deadlines for the state contract were missed, probably due to the actions of the contractor. It is possible that the officials may later become suspects in this case. The regional administration declined to comment on the situation, citing the closed status of the case. The trial began back in April, when the Capital Construction Department demanded 2 billion 112 million rubles from the local Development Corporation, which had signed six state contracts for the construction of structures, but the deadlines were violated. It is possible that the officials will later become suspects instead of witnesses.”

A.M.: That completely explains a coarse reaction of Russia’s Defense Minister Belousov to platitudes from temporary Governor of Kursk Smirnov at the first meeting in the immediate wake of Kursk incursion and the transfer of the whole operation completely to the Defense Ministry. MoD knew by then how Kursk administration “used” a huge sum of money given to them to build the line. For those who do not understand the law, until the KTO or special military regime are announced in the area, it is up to local administration to provide what is needed–such as construction of the defense line–in their constituencies. Well, now we know how. Many will end up as suspects and will be charged with all kinds of financial and other “non-financial” crimes. FSB, I am sure also has some questions to ask, including within own ranks as goes for the CO of the Border Guards detachment, who, obviously, completely misunderstood what he was dealing with when he was transferred to Kursk (from Middle Asian assignment) shortly before the incursion. This in no way diminishes a heroic response from Border Guards who DID blunt the initial thrust of VSU and, as it was so many times in Border Guards history, completely threw NATO plan off the rails.
