Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bukhari 49

The stronger one is the one who can absorb the violence and the anger from the other and change it to love and understanding…This is the real jihad.” – Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bukhari

Sheikh Bukhari died last week, and is much mourned by religious Uzbeks, and especially the exiled opposition leadership, to whom he was close. Bukhari was a direct descendent of Imam Muhammad Ismail al-Bukhari of Bukhara, the ninth-century author of the Hadith al-Bukhari. Sheikh Bukhari led a colony of Palestinians of Uzbek descent, mostly now in Gaza, who have maintained their Uzbek identity for generations.

He died shortly before a scheduled meeting with Turkish PM Erdogan to discuss reaction to the Gaza Flotilla attack. He devoted much of his life to seeking, through working with like-minded Jewish religious leaders, to use religion as a force for peace and agreement, rather than hatred and division.

This often placed him in a difficult position. For example, he lead a delegation to Sderot, to show sympathy for the population there but at the same time to explain to them the sufferings of his own relatives in Gaza. This attempt to promote understanding drew criticism from all sides.

The danger also exists that a non-violent tradition will be exploited by oppressors. Others, particularly Sheikh Kabbani and the Sufi Muslim Council, sought to hijack the Sufi Naqbandi tradtion and put it at the service of the linked Karimov and Israeli regimes and US neo-con organisations, and received a great deal of money for doing so.

Unlike them, Sheikh Bukhari never endorsed Karimov or the “War on Terror”. He never abandoned the rights of ordinary oppressed people. He lived a simple lifestyle, and was a living rebuke to those who seek to malign and misrepresent his religion.

i agree that the first person definitely lacks a certain je ne sais quoi. Come back, real Larry, and fight your troll!

still, i do think quite a few people are going a bit bananas, trying to stay in denial.

Yes, it’s very odd, isn’t it? It seemed so much of a caricature, it was almost ironic. Which is why, perhaps unfairly, I thought of Arsalan (where are you, my friend?), although it seemed altogether too vicious.

But then, you’d think that as has been the case when someone has adopted the persona, the ‘real’ ‘Larry’ would’ve come forward to deny that it was ‘him’/ ‘them’/’it’, and so far ‘he’/’they’/’it’ haven’t. So maybe it was the actual disinformation team assigned to Craig Murray’s website.

Perhaps now, in whatever multiple jet-lagging timezones they dwell, they’re catching-up on some well-earned kip. As I said somewhere else, Rip Van Winkle. Perhaps they had had too much pepper vodka. Or that green stuff that comes from Finland…

Well, I could supply them with endless bundles of bananas, entire boatloads of bananas, from here to monkey Heaven, if it’d keep them from constantly endorsing the unendorsable. With our bananas, we will fight them on the beaches…

‘cock’ is a British word, isn’t it? Americans would say ‘dick’, surely.

Yes, it’s very odd, isn’t it? It seemed so much of a caricature and a rather pathetic, personally-directed attack, it was almost ironic.

I could supply the chuntering monkeys of Empire with bananas galore, if it would stop them attempting to justify the unjustifiable.

Perhaps now, in whatever multiple jet-lagging timezones they dwell, they’re catching-up on some well-earned kip. Or perhaps, they’ve been sacked for incompetance. As I said somewhere else, Rip Van Winkle. Perhaps they had had too much pepper vodka. Or that green stuff that comes from Finland…

Sorry that got posted so many times. It seemed to take ages for it to be posted at all. The vagaries of silicon (as Dolly Parton may have said to Yusuf Islam).

Anyway, you’re correct. The phraseology is wrong.

So are we talking a Brit, d’you think? Either that, or someone addicted to internet porn movies. Maybe that’s where they’ve gone.

  • ingo

You might be on to something Suhayl, its either that, or he could be someone who has fallen out with the inland revenue, who has decided not to contribute to the rising British tax regime, smirking rather ‘cock a’hoop’ from the sidelines.

  • Suhayl Saadi

Or could it have been Apostate, as Clark may be suggesting on another thread? Anyway, who cares? The issue is the important thing. Rock on, ingo!

May his soul rest in peace,

I don’t agree with him visiting Sderot to show sympathy with occupiers who pushed palestinians to Gaza, put a siege on them, lived on their stolen land, and danced on the hill of shame while watching them being bombed in Gaza

  • Larry's Mum

Hello you lovely folks on Craig’s site!

Larry has been telling me about all his online friends, so I thought I’d stop by and tell y’all how much I appreciate the time y’all spend with him. He’s really a different boy since he took up this ole interweb thang, and his grades have gone way up now that he feels he can..well…talk, I guess! Since his MMR jab he really ain’t been the same, so it’s real great to see how y’all apreshia..appreechia…get on so well. Oh, and Craig, don’t mind the language – he gets all fired up and there ain’t nothin’ we can do. That Tourettes is just the damnedest thang!

    Love ya!

Another intriguing thing is that if you search for our ‘Missourian’ pal, nothing except hits to Craig Murray’s website comes up. People who blog tend to use the same blog-name on more than one site. This might suggest that the monicker was directed solely for the purposes of attacking CM’s website.

    ‘Larry’s Mum’ – Arsalan – welcome back.

  • McIntyre

Funny thing, Soba doesn’t seem to be around either.

Maybe they’re on holiday together. Ah, sweet.

  • glenn

Maybe Larry & Angry could send us a postcard? Nobody sends postcards any more. The mystery has gone right out of holidays, when people would just disappear for weeks on end. Now, you get to some breath-taking monument, and you find it hard to appreciate it through the din of, “Mum! I’m right in from of Ayers Rock” / “Guess what arrr’m lookin’ at, buddy? / Arrr’l sind y’all peek-it-chure soon as aar fig-er aaaght…”, and loads of droning in various languages (all saying more or less the same things).

What’s wrong with everyone, are they terrified of being left out, and assumed to be dead, if they don’t update Facebook, twitter and so on every five minutes?

Anyway – if you’re reading this, Angry & Larry, send us a postcard! You deserve a holiday after that meltdown – clearly you’ve been working too hard.

  • angrysoba

“Maybe Larry & Angry could send us a postcard? Nobody sends postcards any more.”

I do. Just as Roderick Russell.

And anyone who wants me knows where to find me.

  • Roderick Russell

Responding to Angrysobas comment of June 28, 2010 12:12 AM. Yes, he did send me a postcard a few months back from Japan; but it didn’t include his real name, any contact details or any information about himself.Perhaps he could tell us who he is on his web site.

Incidentally I have revised my WIKI on the use by MI5/6 in UK and CSIS in Canada of Stasi-style Zerzetzen torure to include precedents of where something similar has happened to others – top journalists, senior diplomats, company chairman.

CLICK ON CHAPTER 2 OF THE WIKI. A LIST OF PRECEDENTS IS RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING. In each of these cases you can Google their details into the internet, and see it for yourself. The pattern of evil is remarkably similar. Kick the tire, and see for yourself

Fluctuating moods, disorientation techniques, nice cop, nasty cop, swingeing insults, philosophical analysis… all from different mouths belonging to the same creature.

These are interrogation techniques, and they’re being used on this blog.

    Anyone got a blow-pipe?
