HMS Astute Tested For Use in Afghanistan 44

But Navy concludes it works better in water.

SKY NEWS EXCLUSIVE – SANDBANK PLANTED BY TALIBAN

Top Taliban commanders tell Sky News sandbank was funded by Al-Qaida contributions from UK mosques.

“We will place sandbanks in every country” says man with face in scarf we paid a tenner.

    Iraq Check-points

Over 50 families murdered in check-point incidents in one year including 50 children.

Here is a typical incident SIGACT:

    REDACTED TO PROTECT…?

If ever I hear of an imminent pre-emptive threat to the sovereign state of Iran there will be the biggest anti-war march in history – that I promise.

When is Blair et al. going to be arrested for war crimes? The world is waiting…

I admit I was one of those who supported the war in Iraq. Successive revelations have made me realise that I was naive. I had thought that the UK and USA were a civilising influence in world affairs, but now I’m not so sure..

This is why millions protested. It was always going to turn out like this with the way the Americans Hawks were rushing in. Tony Blair, shame on you for joing them. You deserve to go to the Hague and answer to the civilised world for your actions.

Well done Wikileaks for exposing their true actions once again.

    So in short……..

The people of Iraq would have been better off if Saddam Hussein was still in charge.

That’s a measure of how low Bush and Blair have fallen in the public eye. They rank behind an evil old dictator.

Still, at least all the weapons of mass destruction are gone, right?

The question is what difference will it make to the behaviour of the US and the UK that diminishing the threat of international terrorism and promoting democracy in Iraq are revealed (once again) as a sham?

Will the fact that economic imperialism as the real reason for the war make any difference?

Will anyone be held truly accountable?

    Don’t hold your breath…

Tony’s a cosmic traveler and in his wondrous elliptical way, is right about many things, including about Peter Dale Scott. He’s the one.

Yes Dreoilin. You only have to listen to Sky News to see how they are loving the details of the Iraqi on Iraqi ‘litany of torture and horror’ as it has just been described as I write. In other words an opportunity to further demonize the Muslims.

The IBC death count has been revised too so that the lumpen proletariat will absorb the new figure as the true figure when it’s actually a fraction of the real figure, i.e. over a million deaths.

  • somebody

What I did omit Dreoilin is this sentence from an e-mail today from an Iraqi now living in the UK. He has relatives in Iraq.

‘What the leaks do not go into, of course, is the sheer hell that US and its masters in Tel Aviv had ensured would go on in Iraq long after the forces had left.’

Of course 50,000 US forces are still these plus the bases plus double that number of ‘contractors’.

  • hello

sky’s report was bullshit. In one place a man, alleged to be taliban came up and shook the hand of Alex Crawford. Considering, taliban are strict followers of Islam it would be not possible. So, the report is bullshit and staged

Actually Julian said almost precisely that at the press conference today. He cannot publish documents he has not been given. The suspicions of him really are seriously misguided.

Thanks for the reference to an Irish Girl, Tony, but I fear me my “girl” days are long past.

    somebody,

I use Sky for quick News updates if I haven’t been online for a while, or when I’ve just woken up. Otherwise I hate the damn thing. On occasions like this, with topics like this, I find them unbearable. I sometimes fire off critical (and borderline abusive) texts to them, to dilute my excess adrenaline!

Why was Slodoba alongside, he with his phony death figures? We know the IBC is wrong.

John Sloboda with Assange at press conference

Posted by margo on October 23, 2010, 5:34 pm

I was interest(ed) to catch the tail end of a news item half an hour ago of Wikileaks’ press conference in London. I see Assange shared a table with Sloboda of the Iraq Body Count, among others. I missed Sloboda’s full speech, but was intrigued to see him at the ‘top table’ at the press conference. What is the meaning of this? (I mean this question sincerely. I have followed Medialens’ and Pilger’s questioning of IBC: is there any significance to his presence at Assange’s side?)

    Sloboda contributed to analysis

    My question answered here:

“The new documents and new deaths contained within them showed the range and frequency of the “small, relentless tragedies of this war” added Prof John Sloboda of Iraq Body Count, which worked with Wikileaks to analyse the material.”

  • dreoilin

Yep, I missed the beginning of the press conference entirely, and I missed Craig being there. I was busy posting on Twitter. But the appearance of IBC (and no mention of the Lancet OR the Opinion Research Business poll) bothered me.

“He cannot publish documents he has not been given. The suspicions of him really are seriously misguided.”

I hope so. If Wikileaks does not follow through soon while the news is hot, with loud criticism of how the data is being misreported in the mainstream media (every death mapped etc.) and is being mistaken among the genuinely attentive observers who they have successfuly reached- It will be as guilty of mishandling data as IBC is.

  • crab

This from the front page of wikileaks.org

“For comparison, the ‘Afghan War Diaries’, previously released by WikiLeaks, covering the same period, detail the deaths of some 20,000 people. Iraq during the same period, was five times as lethal with equivallent population size. ”

This statement illudes to the idea, that the reports should be taken at face value, and are complete (or as complete as the Afgan records??)

Its a terribly sloppy intro for the material to find on the front page of a 5 million dollar “truth broadcasting” super site.
