Assange and Sweden 190

There may be a ruling today on Julian Assange’s proposed extradition to Sweden to face some ridiculously flimsy accusations of “minor rape”. The threat to Assange, that the Swedish authorities will simply hand him over to the United States on espionage charges, is very real. Sweden was one of the tiny minority of 14 – the US and US vassal states – who on Monday voted against Palestinian membership of UNESCO.

What non-nuclear weapon could stop NATO?

Public opinion, Iran backing down on nuclear weapon development, an Iranian spring, Iran taking up Russia’s offer on uranium enrichment, Iran agreeing to greater IAEA supervision of its uranium enrichment. I daresay there are others.

Stephen, I think that the protesters would be offended if they were put in the same category as Julian Assange’s accusers.

Look at the timeline: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2011/11/02/julian-assange-rape-accusations-timeline_n_1070781.html .

Pay particular notice to: “…while their sexual encounters with Assange began as consensual, in both cases it then became non-consensual.

The police interviewer reportedly concludes that Miss W had been raped and Miss A subject to sexual molestation. An arrest warrant for Assange is issued .

August 21: The rape warrant is dismissed by the chief prosecutor. But following an appeal the warrant is reissued.”

The fact that they started out as consensual, and then initially dismissed by chief prosecutor should cast enough REASONABLE DOUBT!

Might I kindly suggest that you go and stick your link to such anti semitic bullshit where the sun doesn’t shine.

Wendy, the Government didn’t exactly declare its hand; it was more the Guardian winkling plans out of certain officials.
Stephen, NATO won’t stop. The financial/consumption crisis means that the few closed spaces — closed to Western capital, that is — that are left on the planet must be forced open. Grabbing huge hydrocarbon assets — like Iraq and Libya — is a welcome bonus. Iran borders the oil rich Caspian too, and it’s conquest will further encircle Russia and China.
That has been the gameplan for decades.

    Stephen,
    Truth with facts hurts?!
Wake up child! Anti sionism=racism+antihumanism is not the same as anti semitism. Besides, there is no scientific proof that jews are semites.

“I think that the protesters would be offended if they were put in the same category as Julian Assange’s accusers”

I daresay they would – but I was just giving genuine reasons as to why people might share lawyers – rather than indulging in some conspiracy theory.

As for the rest of what you say – I tend to think cases should be decided using established legal processes where those making the decisions have access to all the evidence and both sides are able to present their arguments. Blogs do not provide such a forum. I agree with Abu Rene that Sweden is a civilised country whose legal processes should be trusted by anyone who believes in legal processes. And the last time I looked Amnesty International did not single out Sweden as one of those country’s where legal processes could not be trusted – so in the meantime could I suggest that you turn your attention to those who have more of a track record in this regard. I’m sure Mr Assange is more than capable of making his case in the Swedish courts.

So why the list of all those officials with Jewish names? Etc. Etc.

So you want truth with facts – here is one – you are an anti semitic shit. Unfortunately, I doubt you have the normal human characteristics associated with pain and hurt.

  • Harry

This one is simple. We will know what the game is when/if the Swedes extradict him to the US. There is some way of assessing who is right and who is wrong. Sadly for Assange it will be after the event.

  • Komodo

So why the list of all those officials with Jewish names? Etc. Etc.

Because those officials were central to US government policy from Reagan on, and especially welcomed by Bush 2. Because they managed to sideline the normal processes of scrutiny of government, and because (like some of their Christian counterparts) they appear consistently to prioritise Israeli over American interests. I’d be equally critical if they mostly had Lithuanian names, and prioritised Lithuania. Call me an anti-Baltite, then.

So you want truth with facts – here is one – you are an anti semitic shit.
The truth is he found a site you disagree with.

Unfortunately, I doubt you have the normal human characteristics associated with pain and hurt.

A characteristic visibly shared by Feith, Perle, Wurmser,Kristol, Bolton, Libby, Abrams and the rest, when preparing their academic plans for US/Israeli hegemony.

(I tried posting a version of this before but it hasn’t appeared in the comments so far, so I am attempting to do so again.)

For Stephen’s benefit, some details of anomalies of this case may be found by following these links:

    http://www.swedenversusassange.com/Allegations.html
    http://radsoft.net/news/20101001,01.shtml
    http://rixstep.com/1/20110204,04.shtml

Statements by the alleged victims (in translation) neither of which seem to indicate rape as conventionally understood:

    http://rixstep.com/1/20110204,02.shtml
    http://rixstep.com/1/20110131,00.shtml

Altogether, these links include information on why the Swedish definition of “minor rape” may not correspond to rape in English law, evidence that one of the supposed victims made blog entries favourable to Assange (later deleted) after the supposed rape, that the women only made a complaint after discovering that Assange had slept with both of them and how the charge was dropped, only to be reopened through political interference.

The blog entries made after the supposed rape were (in translation):

‘Julian wants to go to a crayfish party, anyone have a couple of available seats tonight or tomorrow? #fb’

‘Sitting outdoors at 02:00 and hardly freezing with the world’s coolest smartest people, it’s amazing! #fb’.

The list went down to the level of the Ambassador to Uruguay and wanted to pose the question as to whether those on the list had dual US Israeli citizenship. There were plenty of others with rather more important roles in US policy during the period who had none Jewish names. I could go on – and look at some of the other quotes and insinuations made by the same writer – but surely you realise that there are lines that should not be crossed.

Have posted this on the “Where are the Malyshevs” thread.

Not bombing nuclear facilities is pretty near the top of my list.

  • Komodo

I think it is perfectly legitimate to question the influences on your government. Their dual citizenship can be established, I think. Their dual allegiance is a bit trickier, perhaps. And the input of pro-Israeli personalities who have no overt ties to Israel (whatever their names) begs some questions about their connections, too. As it does in regard to Fox’s connection with our friends Lewis (Welsh name, not chapel), Poju Zabludowicz (Finnish businessman, close to Netanyahu), Stanley Kalms, et al….

It’s a question that is occasionally raised. The preponderance of Jewish names near the top in this country, out of all proportion to the 0.2% of the population which is actually Jewish, is statistically interesting. The extent to which these names know each other, and prefer each others’ company, would keep a sociologist going for decades. A politician might well ask if our not-very-logical adherence to Israel’s preferred Middle Eastern policy has something to do with this.

That is the extent of my interest, really, except to point out that the current guidelines on presenting Israel as a cuddly bunny to the West do not endorse calling the goyim racist shits when they link to sites containing a lot of Jewish names. These days, an ostensibly moderate approach is favoured.

Whether the Swedish definitions of rape differ from the English ones is neither here or there – the alleged crimes were committed in Sweden – when in Stockholm etc.

From the partial accounts of the accusers (leaked by whom we might ask) that I have seen – Assange’s purported behaviour leaves quite a lot to be desired and if the Swede’s have a law against such behaviour then good for them I say.

If you really think that Swedish law is abusing generally accepted human rights then why don’t respected human rights organisations share your view?

If you want to stand up for the rights of people sent to countries where the legal system does not support human rights could I kindly suggest you direct your efforts to the Malyshev’s in Uzbekistan rather than Assange who will have not a little help in fighting his corner.

Why do you think that there is such a large Jewish diaspora with not a few of them interested in influencing world affairs and standing up for a secure homeland for the Jews? (not that gives them the right to abuse others). Rather than criticising people for behaving like human beings perhaps a little more time could be spent reading and understanding history.

And no I’m not Jewish – and no I don’t think that the Israeli government are cuddly bunnies – far from it, but then neither are the Palestinian authorities.

My father used to teach me not to argue with blind and phsyco people and just ignore them.
It hurt me when he died. I will follow his advice.

My belief is that WL and JA is an intelligence op. Nothing that have been released by him has had any major political impact. It hasn’t cause any political change, except calls for more control and restrictions over the internet and otherwise.
    .
There are numerous anomalies in what took place in Stockholm after the two girls decided to go to the police and the result was that JA and WL made the front pages of the world media. You couldn’t buy that kind of PR for money if your were JA.
    .
The whole thing is just a farce that will end up in nothing, except more publicity for WL. More likely WL is a honey pot for whistle blowers. The really hot stuff don’t get publicised and the people that bring it are never heard of, except in small paper articles describing drowning or car accidents or successful suicides. WL is also useful for placing all kinds of disinformation.
    .
@ WhoWants: Zionist trolls are common here don’t feed them.

  • Parky

Although I understand the swedish police may well want to hear JA’s side of the story and ask him a few questions concerning the case, I am at a loss as to why he or they haven’t agreed to meet in the UK at an early opportunity given that the extradition process will take time and the iron so to speak will no longer be hot. Travelling a few hundred miles should hardly change his story although he may decide to not answer any questions if extradited on advice of his legal team. There does not seem to be any urgency to find the truth in this and that seems very odd.

  • Merlin

    Stephen
The point is that the offence of “minor rape” as seemingly presented in the accusations is not an offense in English law even if it could be established under Swedish law. Just having partially the same name doesn’t make it the same thing. If you support the idea that we should extradite people on the basis of “when in Rome do as the Romans do” does that mean you would support the extradiction of people to Iran on blasphemy charges, or women for driving in Saudi? You also ignore the other issues – the delayed complaint, the blog entries, the funny circumstances of the case being reopened..

    .
Well, perhaps Iran can see that Saddam Hussein did the equivalent of allowing the CIA in to inspect every aspect of his by-then non-existent arsenal and Iraq still got invaded.
    .
No, there is nothing Iran can do – even if Iran were a total democracy (in full-blown ‘Iranian Summer’) and, say like in 1953 it wanted to control its own resources for the benefit of its people and pursue an independent foreign policy, the situation vis a vis NATO, etc. would be identical. One suspects that Iran senses that if it actually gets a nuke, the chances of it being attacked might fall. But really, this is not about nukes or human rights. We re not dupes.

    Stephen,
    .
‘Iran backing down on nuclear weapon development’ – No proof!
    .
‘an Iranian spring’ – They had one years ago!
    .
‘Iran taking up Russia’s offer on uranium enrichment’ – Why? when they can enrich themselves!
    .
‘Iran agreeing to greater IAEA supervision of its uranium enrichment’ – They have – cameras are everywhere!
    .
Suhayl is right – Iran can do nothing
    .
Are you suggesting Iran is an aggressive nation or is Iran dangerous because it is fully awakened to the atrocities of the West?

  • Roderick Russell

Yes, Suhayl (re your comment 73 – Nov 2) these MI*/CSIS hoods do follow a pattern.

This horror story began for us when I was blacklisted after leaving Grosvenor International all these years ago. I still don’t know why it all happened as I had done a first class job for them. They seem to be in denial too. Perhaps Alfred/Canspeccy who lives in Victoria, Canada could ask Neville Gibson, now in retirement there, if he can throw any light on the issue. Neville was Chairman of Grosvenor International at the time I was blacklisted, and I think it a reasonable question to ask. I was told by another Grosvenor executive that Neville had intelligence connections so, if he doesn’t know, perhaps he could ask them.
    #
Over the summer I complained formally to Canada’s Security Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC) about Canada’s Spy Agency CSIS. Of course they did nothing at all, dismissing my complaint on the grounds that CSIS would not do such things, without any discussion with me or with any witness. Other complainants have found the same thing –the SIRC whitewashes CSIS without reviewing the evidence. However I am delighted to report that CSIS is most protective of the SIRC. Here are some examples:
    #
During the week after I had made my formal complaint (1) I was being noticeably stalked in Calgary (2) I received weird telephone calls, voicing concern about my computer security – 2 days later a computer was annihilated by viruses/malware that came from all angles. Subsequently friends of ours in Calgary, who also know Prime Minister Harper, wrote us that they had tried to telephone but were getting messages saying that our telephone was “permanently disconnected” even though it was working for us.
    #
Just 10 days ago I sent the SIRC a written critique as to their (lack of) review. Almost immediately (1) My wife’s health care prescription was cancelled at the last minute, which could be serious for her – it was reinstated after we complained and (2) more SMEARING. On Oct 25, I got a telephone call that led me to believe that a smear of a very nasty nature was being created. On Oct 27 I was walking in downtown Calgary when a hood came up aggressively to me saying “pedophile, pedophile, pedophile …… repeatedly”. This has no legs to it since even CSIS knows it to be ridiculous. I did, however, comment on it this afternoon only to find that 2 hours later my mobile phone stopped operating. The failure of an oversight committee to do its job properly, coupled with smears and (sometimes deliberately weird) intimidating activities is known to be typical of Zerzetsen.

India and Pakistan both have nukes – I can’t think of a more dangerous pair of countries to have such things. They’ve actually gone to war with each other at least four times, they are in a constant state of de facto mutual aggression, both countries are replete with religious nutters, the Pakistan Military-Security is supplying the Islamist paramilitaries as we type. Yet there seems no sense of urgency to get these negotiations going over Kashmir, so that at least the flashpoint is removed from the equation, and then for them to negotiate down the nukes.

  • Godzinem

    .
more dangerous countries – how about the USA and UK? They actually go to war every couple of years, they are in a constant state of aggression, the US is replete with religious nutters, and the UK is replete with nutters.
    .
They’re not fighting each other, and perhaps they’re not likely to use the nukes, but that’s the whole point of nukes – unless you’re a psycho like Harry Truman, you just have them, like a big dog chained up in your yard. The possession of nukes is what protects the US and UK from righteous vengeance, and enables them to go on year after year, raping the world.

“Why do you think that there is such a large Jewish diaspora with not a few of them interested in influencing world affairs and standing up for a secure homeland for the Jews?”

Good question. If it’s so bloody marvellous, why don’t they go and live in their sodding homeland? ~50% of all Jews don’t. They live in the US. That particular bit of history is over (at least for the moment). Jews are not persecuted.

Worth noting that Reform Jews used to hold that the diaspora was God’s intentional way of ensuring that the gentiles were exposed to superior Jewish values, and that there was no right or requirement to return to Palestine. That rather faded out as the Zionists gained a stranglehold in the early C20.

I hope this has been helpful in your historical education.
