Jay: re loyal address to HM. In Quaker circles I have often heard her referred to as ‘Elizabeth Windsor’! (Equality is one of the Quaker Testimonies) As far as the content of the letter is concerned, would that more people take heed – particularly at high government level.

Just want to share a very ‘peculiar’ Easter Monday moment with everyone else. i am in the Newcastle/Durham area, travelling. Stopped for a pee and as walking towards the appropriate place, I looked up at someone loitering at a corner presumably waiting for someone or something. I immediately ‘recognised’ the face as Alistair Campbell.
He is very lean, wiry looking, medium height, but his hair was more grey than shown on newspaper photos. The strange thing was that when I looked at him as I walked past, he made a definite and rather unusual movement to avoid being looked at directly-turned into the wall, face away, which was a very definite movement and an odd thing to do.
To be fair I am not sure 100% it was him, but if not, it was someone very like him, and there is no reason to make inferences about where he was standing btw. By the time I was returning he was gone. By then I had decided to ask if it was him.
However as i thought about it I realised, that all the dislike of AC’s connections, and the dishonourable parts he has played in something that has had an enormous negative impact on so many people, he remains entirely human.

    Putting Syria into Some Perspective
    The Anti-Empire Report
    .
    by William Blum / April 8th, 2012
    .
The Holy Triumvirate — The United States, NATO, and the European Union —or an approved segment thereof, can usually get what they want. They wanted Saddam Hussein out, and soon he was swinging from a rope. They wanted the Taliban ousted from power, and, using overwhelming force, that was achieved rather quickly. They wanted Moammar Gaddafi’s rule to come to an end, and before very long he suffered a horrible death. Jean-Bertrand Aristide was democratically elected, but this black man who didn’t know his place was sent into distant exile by the United States and France in 2004. Iraq and Libya were the two most modern, educated and secular states in the Middle East; now all four of these countries could qualify as failed states.
    .
These are some of the examples from the past decade of how the Holy Triumvirate recognizes no higher power and believes, literally, that they can do whatever they want in the world, to whomever they want, for as long as they want, and call it whatever they want, like “humanitarian intervention”. The 19th- and 20th-century colonialist-imperialist mentality is alive and well in the West.
    .
Next on their agenda: the removal of Bashar al-Assad of Syria. As with Gaddafi, the ground is being laid with continual news reports — from CNN to al Jazeera — of Assad’s alleged barbarity, presented as both uncompromising and unprovoked. After months of this media onslaught who can doubt that what’s happening in Syria is yet another of those cherished Arab Spring “popular uprisings” against a “brutal dictator” who must be overthrown? And that the Assad government is overwhelmingly the cause of the violence.

PS I would call the Triumvirate Unholy rather than Holy.

Mary, “Shame on Neill, Swinney, Salmond and the SNP”
    .
Salmond has no shame. He is a politician and a particularly cunning one at that. Just like Cameron he will ally with whoever can help him get what he wants.
    .
Remember this when the SNP speak with self-righteous indignation about an ‘independent’ Scotland.

  • lwtc247

Sorry, but I find it very hard to imagine why anyone may have thought that there were ” elite policymakers in the Foreign Office.” in the first place.
    .
How hard is it dream up ways of dividing people, provoking conflict, putting people into economic bondage and stealing their resources and supporting the Zionist entity currently occupying Palestine?
    .
    Spooks, what say you?

Early in the morning of April 9, 1948, commandos of the Irgun (headed by Menachem Begin) and the Stern Gang attacked Deir Yassin, a village with about 750 Palestinian residents. The village lay outside of the area to be assigned by the United Nations to the Jewish State; it had a peaceful reputation. But it was located on high ground in the corridor between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Deir Yassin was slated for occupation under Plan Dalet and the mainstream Jewish defense force, the Haganah, authorized the irregular terrorist forces of the Irgun and the Stern Gang to perform the takeover.
    .
In all over 100 men, women, and children were systematically murdered. Fifty-three orphaned children were literally dumped along the wall of the Old City, where they were found by Miss Hind Husseini and brought behind the American Colony Hotel to her home, which was to become the Dar El-Tifl El-Arabi orphanage.
    .
Part of the struggle for self-determination by Palestinians has been to tell the truth about Palestinians as victims of Zionism. For too long their history has been denied, and this denial has only served to further oppress and deliberately dehumanize Palestinians in Israel, inside the occupied territories, and outside in their diaspora.
    .
Some progress has been made. Westerners now realize that Palestinians, as a people, do exist. And they have come to acknowledge that during the creation of the state of Israel, thousands of Palestinians were killed and over 700,000 were driven or frightened from their homes and lands on which they had lived for centuries.
    .
Deir Yassin Remembered seeks similar progress on behalf of the victims of the Deir Yassin Massacre . . .

    Easter 81
I walked the streets of Jerusalem following the path that Jesus dragged his cross. It was very cold and wet that day and I remember thinking that all those stories of flowing robes and sandals were lies, and thought they must have worn wellies instead. All the farmers from the Moshav at Hatzeva had gone to Tel Aviv to celebrate Passover. The drunken brits borrowed tractors and went out into the desert to party. On the way back one of them knocked down the security fence and an electricity pylon,it was a fence back then. The IDF were mobilised and my friends like Mary and Joseph had to high tail it to Egypt.9 of them. They weren’t caught.Today they would’ve probably been taken out with Hellfire missiles.the only thing that died that day were a few mellons because of a starved irrigation system.
Here is a very good docu from Gilad Atzmons blog giving a bit more insight into the mindset. There never was any plan to co exist ! Golda Meir is especially scary.

Yet why do I hesitate to name

    that other land in which

    for years—although kept secret—

a growing nuclear power has existed

    beyond supervision or verification,

subject to no inspection of any kind?

This general silence on the facts,

before which my own silence has bowed,

seems to me a troubling lie, and compels

    me toward a likely punishment

    the moment it’s flouted:

    the verdict “Anti-semitism” falls easily.

    Guenter Grass, tr Breon Mitchell
    .
    10/10 for clairvoyance, Guenter:
    .
“Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman reacted to a poem by German author and Nobel literature laureate Gunter Grass, explaining that his writing shows how Western intellectuals use anti-Semitism to attain greater notoriety and sell more books.

“We expect the leaders in Europe to move decisively against such expressions by influential opinion makers, and not to allow them to continue to enjoy mainstream respectability,” Channel 10 news quoted the foreign minister as saying during his meeting with Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, who was on his first state visit since he was elected last year.

The foreign minister noted the danger of how a small anti-Semitic comment can quickly mushroom into a larger phenomenon…”

Craig since you’re in India, can you please clear this up? If we are supposed to call Bombay ‘Mumbai’, does that mean ‘Bollywood’ has become ‘Mollywood’?

    @pee

‘Windsor’ is a made-up brand name like ‘Twix’. The royal name is correctly ‘Elisabeth von Saxe-Coburg-Gotha’. Prince Philip, whose first language is German, has the surname ‘Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg’. His three sisters were barred from his wedding in 1947, as they had spent the war in Germany
    married to SS officers.

American Enterprise in Gulf: Second aircraft carrier deployed
    09 April, 2012, 21:12

    .

The USS Enterprise has been sent to the Persian Gulf, the US Navy said Monday as tensions rise over Iran’s nuclear program. It will be the fourth time in the last decade the US has had two aircraft carriers on simultaneous missions in the area.

    .
The deployment of the second aircraft is “routine and not specific to any threat,” stated Commander Amy Derrick-Frost of the Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet. The Enterprise and its strike group entered the fleet’s area of responsibility on April 3.

Russia Today seem to be getting us inured to the inevitability of a war against Iran. They had a long interview with an Israeli academic discussing all the possible scenarios. What is RT’s agenda?

You have to wonder why, er, “tensions are rising” between the US and Iran, don’t you?
    .
In mid-January, a few days after an assassination by car bomb of an Iranian nuclear scientist in Tehran, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, at a town-hall meeting of soldiers at Fort Bliss, Texas, acknowledged that the U.S. government has “some ideas as to who might be involved, but we don’t know exactly who was involved.” He added, “But I can tell you one thing: the United States was not involved in that kind of effort. That’s not what the United States does.”

After a previous answer explaining that Craig has a policy of no random 9/11 talk, as every thread had a habit of been taken over by certain peoples views and thoughts on those particular events…perhaps Craig should implement a no Israel/jew talk as every thread he starts, be it recovering lost computer files, to a story about Britain and its dealings with Uzbekistan, seems to degenerate into devious jews/Israelis/zionists talk…perhaps there could be a thread kept specifically for that purpose. And perhaps less random off topic posting of newspaper stories too.

The True Cause of the Death of David Kelly

    by Dr. Michael Powers

    .
    April 8 2012
    .
Dr Kelly was a brilliant man who did his best for his country. We owe it to him and ourselves to discover the true cause of his death
    .

In this powerfully argued article, doctor and barrister Dr Michael Powers QC explains why justice demands an inquest is held
    .

Doubts: Dr Michael Powers QC says key questions were not asked about Dr Kelly
    .
Since his untimely death in July 2003, questions have continued to be raised about the circumstances of Dr David Kelly’s death. Many wonder whether he really killed himself and speculate that he was murdered. His sudden death shocked the nation – how could it have happened?
    .

As a specialist practitioner in law and medicine, I feel a responsibility to the two professions to air my doubts about a case that bridges both worlds.

If Dave really wanted to mess with Craig’s head (and quite a few of ours), he’d declare regime change in Uzbekistan on humanitarian grounds overthrowing Karimov, and use to the materiel in transit to manifest it!
