The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?

Thanks to the info. Weird coincidence is that heli crash almost in front of the SIS (MI6) building. I wonder whether or not they have “patriots” on their roofs.

It was me who had linked Eric and “Stan” Maillaud several weeks ago. Stan isnt his real first name. This is a nickname. I couldnt find a genealogy to confirm a relation, however, they both come from the same region in Southern France. They are somehow related. If not brothers, then perhaps cousins. I posted both their face portrait photo links to compare. Actually, they look like brothers.

I dont believe a single word of Rosen’s story. The kids had been several hours in his house? Where were parents, friends or relatives? On the moon? Where was police? I would believe him if he said 15 minutes. But several hours? And then an old man would like to say “I love you” to a little child? How strange is that? And btw. why did the media never interview that “bus driver”? it shoul be easy to find him/her (Rosen forgot the gender). A good journalist would have done this first. Keen race cyclist and triathlete Robbie Parker from Utah, whose wife’s family (who is a triathlete, too) and whose father who had died shortly ago was a top representative of the LDS mormon church and close supporter of Mitt Romney, is another story of coincidences. However, those who dig in there are bad people ….

Forgot to say (see above) that her father did not die because he was ill but because he was a keen cyclist and he was hit by a truck while cycling earlier this year. Cyclists live dangerous ….

He must have been in his eggbeater and scud running.
Not sure what rules he was trying to fly to but it must have been a very high workload. Not pleasant at all.
Too high and Heathrow get interested in you, too low and you’ll get your feet wet.
Go left or right of track at that level…and you get this.
I am not sure what you’d feel like coming in along that river (it’s an inbound and outbound track) and in minus 3 fog and on a re route and in a very controlled space and you’re on you Jack Jones….or your pax is unhappy with the divert (if you have a pax onboard or you have to pick him up).
He could have been using a GPS…and we know they can get jammed !
Where was he again !!! But that is just absolute speculation.
I “hear” it was Castle Air (operating an Agusta 109).
Again nothing confirmed. Pure speculation.
Still don’t know why he was diverted.
Weather ? Mechanical ? Who knows.

Off topic, but it is for those who believe in extraction theories. I didnt know that the international trade with heads and corpse of diseased is such common and routine. It would take less than 10 hours to fly just diseased dead bodies selected from an online catalogue from Baghdad to e.g. Geneve and this is done on almost daily routine world wide due to the sources below. I didnt know this. I thought that they are using local bodies only.

Activist’s death sparks an open-access tribute online
Hundreds of researchers have been sharing PDFs of their papers on the social networking site, Twitter, this week as a tribute to Aaron Swartz, an internet freedom activist who committed suicide on Friday, reported New Scientist.
Swartz was facing hacking charges in the US after he downloaded nearly 5 million articles from the digital library JSTOR from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s network.
Swartz also helped to develop RSS and Reddit, two additions that have greatly increased sharing and openness on the internet. He played a major role in fighting the Stop Online Piracy Act, which aimed to give copyright holders greater control over the internet.
Some academics have now started to offer free versions of their work on Twitter using the hashtag #pdftribute in memory of Swartz. The papers are also being collected on the site pdftribute.net.
The hashtag was started by Jessica Richman, from University of Oxford, and Eva Vivalt, a development economist from the World Bank in Washington DC.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/9804810/Aaron-Swartzs-father-says-he-was-killed-by-the-government.html
Swartz was significantly involved with a campaign to prevent the passing of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) bill that sought to monitor the Internet for copyright violations and would have made it easier for the U.S. government to shut down websites accused of violating copyright.[32]
Following the defeat of the bill, Swartz was the keynote speaker at the F2C:Freedom to Connect 2012 event in Washington, D.C., on May 21, 2012. His speech was titled “How we stopped SOPA”[33] and he informed the audience:
There’s a battle going on right now, a battle to define everything that happens on the internet in terms of traditional things that the law understands… [Under SOPA], new technology, instead of bringing us greater freedom, would have snuffed out fundamental rights we’d always taken for granted.[32]
Swartz said SOPA was defeated by “the people themselves… We won this fight because everyone made themselves the hero of their own story. Everyone took it as their job to save this crucial freedom.”[33][non-primary source needed] He was referring to a series of protests against the bill by numerous websites which were described by the Electronic Frontier Foundation as the biggest in Internet history, with over 115 thousand sites altering their webpages.[34]
In his speech Swartz also described how close the Bill came to passing as a “bad dream”. He added:
And it will happen again; sure, it will have another name, and maybe a different excuse, and probably do its damage in a different way, but make no mistake, the enemies of the freedom to connect have not disappeared. The fire in those politician’s eyes has not been put out. There are a lot of people, a lot of powerful people, who wanna clamp down on the Internet.[33][non-primary source needed]
Swartz also presented on this topic at an event organized by ThoughtWorks.[35]
Wikipedia (again) (No satsuma reported.)
On the morning of January 11, 2013, Swartz was found dead in his Crown Heights, Brooklyn, apartment by his partner.[11][12][66][67] A spokeswoman for New York’s Medical Examiner reported that he had hanged himself.[11][12][66][67][68][69]
Swartz’s father is an intellectual property consultant to MIT’s computer lab and claims his son was killed by the government. [70] Elliot Peters, Swartz’s attorney, said his father was “outraged by the university’s handling of the matter, believing that it deviated from MIT’s usual procedures”.[32] The family and partner of Swartz created a memorial Web site on which they issued a statement, saying, “He used his prodigious skills as a programmer and technologist not to enrich himself but to make the Internet and the world a fairer, better place.”[65][non-primary source needed]
Swartz was eulogized by his friend and sometime attorney, Lawrence Lessig, calling his prosecution an abuse of proportionality and noting, “the question this government needs to answer is why it was so necessary that Aaron Swartz be labeled a ‘felon’.”[69]
Swartz’s funeral services were held on January 15, 2013, at Central Avenue Synagogue in Highland Park, Illinois. Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the World Wide Web and perhaps Swartz’s most admired role-model, delivered a eulogy at the service.[71][72]
James: I was correct with my digging (see above). The BBC confirmed that the pilot was Capt. Pete Barnes.
He had an interesting company working not only for BBC but for police and RAF military, too:

He was probably one of the most experienced helicopter pilots in the UK.

I did report about Swartz a week ago. I read his complete twitter account. There was no notice of depression of any kind. No hint about suicide, nothing significant at all.
Since he was a hacker an computer expert, I suggest that he was an important part of anon. I don’t know what he hacked and what documents he has had. Certainly he wouldn’t have been killed for library documents. I guess that he had something else. And so did other recently killed guys keep something else in their digital posession that might have created a threat for some rich people inside and outside the government buildings. He wouldn’t be killed because he was a SOPA activist. That’s no reason. However, if he were one of the “anon” leading activists, then there would have been 1000 reasons to kill him.
Let’s collect the names of hackers and software specialists who were allegedly killed during the past 2 years whom we could perhaps connect to anon? SAH was a “computer designer”. I don’t know what a computer designer is and have never heard about such a job. Perhaps he was some kind of database designer and he had knowledge of certain databases such as oracle or sql? And with that insider knowledge he was perhaps able to break into certain databases? We did never investigate (or we did only for a few seconds think of that possibility) whether or not SAH and family were leading anon hackers/activists? Who was forwarding Iraq movies and secret Iraq data to Assange? Bradly Manning? Who were the connections in Iraq?
Many times at first you find yourself going into places.
Some you have to be rated for.
The thing with helicopters, they tend to be more “local” if you get my drift.
This London route (H4) shouldn’t have been an issue for him.
His general (and later) experience is damn good.
This route in that weather shouldn’t have been a problem for him.
He looks to have been scud running (speculation) and with his experience I doubt that would have bothered him much. He was certainly wise enough.
He was after all willing to divert early in the flight (I assume, I haven’t seen “the news” yet. Maybe they have his track).
Thanks for the support of my idea NR
16 Jan, 2013 – 6:20 am. How are going to organise this. Maybe we could just be “democratic” and in the first instance just ask everyone who has contributed on here, to submit ONE pertinent question? They would need to be collated and a decision made to whom they should be submitted. I suggest the Editors of the National Press in Britain (and France?)and TV stations. They would be unascribed and submitted in the name of this site if that were acceptible to Craig? A request would have to be attached as to feedback. Maybe some of the media might make a story out of the request in itself? So if it helps I will start collating here and add just one of my own.
1. When did the SAH’s leave Claygate and what was their route and timing to Annecy? (NR)
2. Why did Eric Maillaud claim, and keep claiming, the English cyclist Brett Martin had made the initial call at 3.48, when it must have been clear (he being British and speaking little French) that it could not have been him and why was this later changed to a Mr Philippe Didierjean, who it was reported lived locally but cannot be traced?
Syria: ‘More than 80 killed’ in Aleppo University blasts
Dozens of people have been killed when two explosions tore through one of Syria’s biggest universities yesterday on the first day of exams, in what could prove to be the deadliest bombing during nearly two years of violence.

16 Jan, 2013 – 10:51 am. Likely connection but not proven then? So what’s the latest on Stan (just a nickname) Maillaud? Has he ever turned up or is he still missing? I think we discussed the potential of him being a card in the role Eric has played, being the mouthpiece of the investigation and Government. “Just remember we have your brother/son/nephew/cousin”. No, no, too implausible surely?
I would like to know at what time Laurent Fillion-Robin saw the green 4×4 and motorbike pass by and what time did the forestry vehicle stop the motorbuke and where.
Laurent Fillion-Robin, a 38-year-old builder, also claimed there was no sign of any vehicle following the family. He was working on a house near Chevaline when he saw the maroon BMW drive past between 2.30pm and 3pm.
He told police he had seen a green 4×4 and a motorbike heading in the direction of the crime scene beforehand. Fillion-Robin’s testament points towards an agreed rendezvous between Al-Hilli and his eventual killers — a possibility which may be backed up by the records of two mobile phones found in the BMW.”
This is the pilot (the telegraph is almost as quick as I am …)

Yes, that’s exactly what I had suggested approx. 1 month ago. There is nothing regarding “Stan” in the news. Obviously he is either dead or he is being still held in custody.
