Gently Back Into the Water 823

I had excellent news from my cardiologist yesterday.  Ready to think about other things now.  I am horrified by the continuing stream of ” royal” baby hype on television.  Truly pathetic – is this 1313 or 2013?  Who buys into this nonsense?

I thought the Lib Dem take on Trident missiles was hilarious.  This small group of islands does apparently need to retain the ability to wipe out one third of the urban population of humankind, as a defence against something undefined – possibly people we invade getting too annoyed about it – and  in order to increase our “influence” in the World.  As we plainly have less influence than the Germans, who don’t feel this need for the power of obliteration, I do not quite see how this works.  Nor do I see Pakistan, which does have nuclear weapons, as very influential.  Nor do I quite understand how our influence can be increased by possessing something  under effective American control.  But there you are.

Anyway, the Lib Dems have come to the intellectually scintillating conclusion that we do need this world shattering power, but we don’t need it on Wednesday or Thursday afternoons or on Saturday mornings, which will be cheaper.  Brilliant, and plainly does not dodge any big ethical or practical questions at all.

Hi. I try to avoid having favourites among my children, but a good place to start would be the first in the series, Aberystwyth Mon Amour.

Derren Brown is a superb magician.
    Neither have psychic powers.

“If a group bully a member off the board, do we share responsibility for it if we could have done something?”

    _______________

Is this a reference to the attempts of Macky, Komodo, Herbie, Fred, Doug Scorgie (he of “Habbabcunt” fame), Jives and various others against my goodself?

If so, don’t be worried – I don’t feel I’ve been “bullied” and therefore I wouldn’t dream of complaining about it. I’m more than capable of taking care of that bunch! 🙂

“Neither Kempe nor yourself (again) have given links and references for your figures so you cannot seriously expect others here to take them at face value.”
    ____________

On the contrary, that’s exactly what I do expect. Because, unlike some here, I don’t try and ‘win’ a discussion by lying.

You should fret less – if you disagree with the figures given, you are free to say so and give the figures (with sources, if you like) which you feel are correct.

Mark; I understood from a bi-sexual psychic, after rejecting his advances listed me as a Knight of Pentacles, which is not a compliment. So I have that going for me 🙂

Not much of a psychic. He didn’t see that coming, did he?

    @ Doug Scorgie:

The “aid” { ie, from Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait }is for the Egyptian military, as you well know, and it will be used to supress (sic)freedoms and human rights in Egypt and prevent any real democratic change.
    ____________

It is good to learn that you have inside information on what the aid is to be used for. A source would of course be welcome.

Anyway, someone seems to have changed his mind, because in your first post on the subject (23 July at 19h59) you quote Iranian Press TV as saying that Saudi Arabia offers $ 2 billions in “oil and gas products” and Kuwait offers $ 4 billions “to help the crashing economy back on its feet”.

    @ Jon/Mod :

From Komodo at 20h54, this :

“Read it carefully, Hasbacock. Arm yourself with the (referenced) facts for a change. Who knows, you may look less like a stupid and malicious troll with an agenda, and more like someone genuinely interested in debate.”
    _____________

You may of course have decided, once again, to acKOMODOte Komodo, but I should neverthless be interested to know if that little bit of charm falls into the “bickering”, “insulting”, “personal attacks” or “bullying” category of post of which you have apparently vowed to rid this blog? 🙂

Thanks for the link to ‘Unlawful Killing’ a film financed by Mohamed Al-Fayed about the assassination of his son Dodi, Princess Diana and their driver Henri Paul. I was familiar with most of the information in this establishment stich-up, but to see it assembled and documented so thoroughly removes any possible doubt that :
    (a) they were murdered.
    (b) The UK is able to hide from its people what the rest of the world knows.

Unfortunately, I paused the film at 53:51 to have my dinner, and when I went back to it, the video had been replaced with a ‘copyright violation’ notice. I can’t find anything more than trailers on YouTube – the film is banned in Britain. Does anyone have another link to somewhere I can finish watching this revealing film.

P.S. This film is yet another demonstration of the stranglehold over information

Yeay, Jon! One minute you’re the devil’s Tippex! Next, you’re not erasing enough! I think you should start deleting consonants at random, myself.

    But seriously, thanks, it’s great.

I know perfectly well that nither Geller or Brown have super-natural powers, however if Brown was to claim he had them, he would be far more credible than Geller ever could be after bending a few spoons and getting a few mechanical watches to start working.
Mr Brown does indeed de-bunk many fakers as part of his act and makes the most of what he is doing as deception and manipulation. Powerful tools in the wrong hands. It somewhat amuses me that Geller was ever taken seriously by anyone as I consider him a chancer and a fake.

  • technicolour

“of which you have apparently vowed to rid this blog?” – are you, with this fictional hyperbole, really just intent on proving that you’re horrible, Habbakuk? Are you seriously suggesting that unpaid decent Jon should have to go back and weed through comments about you which you, in fact, claimed did not bother you in the slightest? Have you failed to notice that not only comments made by you but comments at you have, actually, been removed, much to everyone’s relief because my goodness it is so incredibly dull to read.

Glen, btw, that’s the point, it is a good thing to delete repetitive stuff because it is boring, discuss. I think maybe if you’re only visiting once a month then it possibly doesn’t register, but if you’re following a discussion and are quite interested then it most assuredly does.

Otherwise, on topic, I’m almost ashamed to say, I have blanked the Lib Dem approach to Trident, ever since it was explained to me that they now just want a cheap version. Even accepting that my view that ‘no nuclear weapons’ is clearly crazy and outmoded, I think a cheap version of something like a nuclear weapon is not necessarily a good idea.

But perhaps they are just thinking of just having one giant one in the middle of the country? That might save some money.

PS really good to see Craig back

  • Habbabkuk (La vita è bella!)

@ Komodo, who says the following at 20h54 today :

“Leaving aside Gaza, for the moment, take a look at the Palestinian West Bank. Where agricultural water use is as high, per capita as it is in the “Israeli” West Bank:

    http://www.ceia-sc.org/page55/page112/page116/page116.water.consumption.html

The discrimination in utilization of the resources shared by Israel and the Palestinian Authority is clearly seen in the figures on water consumption by the two populations. Per capita water consumption in the West Bank for domestic, urban, and industrial use is only 22 cubic meters a year, which translates into 60 liters per person per day.

    Domestic, urban and industrial use.

There is a huge gap between Israeli and Palestinian consumption. The average Israeli consumes for domestic and urban use approximately 104 cubic meters a year, or 280 liters per person per day. In other words, per capita use in Israel is four and a half times higher than in the Occupied Territories . To make a more precise comparison, by also taking into account industrial water consumption in Israel, per capita use per year reaches 120 cubic meters – 330 liters per person a day – or five and a half times Palestinian per capita consumption.”
    __________________

These figures seem a little confusing.

You (or rather, your source) appear to start off by talking about the West Bank, distinguishing between the “Israeli” and “Palestinian” West Banks. Here, you (or your source) say that agricultural water use is “as high”, per caput, in the latter as in the former. I imagine that this would meet with your approval.

But you (or rather, your source) then leave agricultural use behind and finally (“..to make a more precise comparison..”) get round to comparing domestic, urban and industrial water consumption. But what, precisely, is being compared? Palestinian water consumption (in the “Palestinian” West Bank, ie, the West Bank minus the settlements? The Occupied Territories, ie, the entire West Bank?)on the one hand? And what is the other hand? The use – twice – of the expression “in Israel” seems to imply that that other hand is Israel proper. Now, that may of course just be careless drafting, or a deliberate juggling of terminology and figures in an attempt to provide as black a picture as possible (I note here that the source you reference cannot be considered a neutral one) but I’m afraid that your text as it stands obfuscates rather than clarifies.

Feel free to have another go.

“What arrogance the Zionists have to think that they can speak for all Jews word-wide.”

Yes, and the corporate media goes along with that too.
If it wasn’t for the devastation their fairy-tales cause to so many real lives it would be funny.

Here are some Jewish voices who don’t feel the Zionists speak for them.

The Analysis/Background section is huge and well researched. It must take special courage for Jewish people to take a stand like this, given the hysterical and threatening reaction directed against them.“.

@Jon; “However, if you believe his comment should have been left uncut, I am happy to hear why.”

Why do you assumed that “seedy sick cult” referred to Judaism rather than Zionism ? Simply because RD said it did ?!!

How did you get that “all Israelis/Jewish people as “deviant” , from “state policies of genocide make mere theft simply other charges confirmatory of incorrigible deviance” ?? The way I read it is that in a dysfunctional rogue State that actually practices genocide, other crimes like theft of land or water, etc, are simply smaller but inevitable & resulting acts of criminal behavior stemming from & fostered by the dysfunctional & corrupting immoral acceptance of State sanctioned mass murder; the fish rots from the head analogy.

I can see why Cryptonym reacted the way he did when you asked him to clarify his comments, as when a supposedly informed person on I/P also start to misinterpret & view everything from a Zionist perspective, which is nothing more than a dishonest, and mostly anti-Semite smearing, apologists’ prospective, then all hope is lost iro that particular supposedly informed person. It’s not his post that was out of line, but your assumption that RD objection was valid, or even remotely rational.

  • Habbabkuk (La vita è bella!)

Last one before beddie-byes (hard day on the beach tomorrow, you know).

One of the Eminences – can’t be bothered to find out who – rounded off his or her contribution on moderating by saying “The referees decision is final”.

A excellent point, to which I would just add :

1/. Is it true that football and tennis matches – and perhaps others – are filmed these days – just in case?

2/. The referee is supposed to be neutral.

    Night night, all!

“You don’t provide links to back up your claims because “…unlike some here, I don’t try and ‘win’ a discussion by lying.”

Can you be specific. Who are “some here” and what are the lies? Please point them out and then we’ll have something to discuss.

Otherwise it becomes a litany of attack pieces, unsupported claims and whinging to Jon. You could write a simple algorythm for that and free yourself up to go and do something interesting.

Maybe it’s time to give Kibo Noh Coleridge a voice again. She’s about had enough of Symplectic Khovanov Homology and I’m feeling a bit sorry for her. So here she is. She promises not to rework the whole thing again.

In Tel Aviv did Hasbara a withering blogg-attack dercee
From keyboards undesired by man an endless stream of drivel ran
    A wonder of sophistry
And twice five hundred hapless men
On reading yawned and wondered when
    Such tides would ever cease.

I’m sure she’d love to get her teeth into some other poor poet.

    “You show your colours.”

And has repeatedly done so from his very first postings here, but the gullible & most impressionable seem to go colour-blind when he uses big words or cracks a snide joke, or even worst, befriend him to aid in their snarking of Mary.

Posting updates on horrific and ongoing crimes and current conscienceless corporate robbery is not repetitive, although I sympathise somewhat with the view that ‘the price of eternal vigilance is liberty’. Posting ‘I hate the Royal Family’ over and over is? Ditto ‘I hate (fill in pseudonym of poster)’.
