Overpaid Yet Happily Forgotten 163

The greatest boost ever received by Islamic fundamentalism was the invasion of Iraq.  Closely followed by extraordinary rendition, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo and drones, and Israeli bombings of Gaza.  All of those things lead some Muslims to believe a violent response by terrorism is required to defend themselves.  So for Tony Blair, who has promoted huge hatred and caused unnumbered deaths through a career of deceit and self-enrichment, to warn about the dangers of Islamic terrorism is something nobody but a few Guardian and Murdoch acolytes wish to hear.

Blair of course has many tens of millions stuffed into his capacious back-pocket by oligarchs from the ex-Soviet space, so it is unsurprising to hear him call for understanding between Russia and the West.  It is even more to form that this understanding should be based on joint hatred of Muslims.

There is an alarming failure by many in the UK to understand that Russia is an Empire.  Russia’s Asian possessions were taken  by invasion from their indigenous and Muslim populations in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, at precisely the same time Britain was taking its own colonies.  The Russian conquests were no less colonial from the accident of geography that they were contiguous.  Dagestan and Chechnya were only conquered in the 1830’s.  Most of Tartarstan later.  The “Islamic fundamentalist threat” Russia faces jointly with the UK, is actually the struggle of colonized peoples for their freedom.

Blair includes China, which likewise is the colonial occupier of the Uighurs and other suppressed Muslim populations.  To conflate the struggle for freedom from colonial occupation of these people with an over-reaching monster of “Islamic terrorism” is part of Blair’s trick.  His examples in Africa are again born of despair from the consequences of centuries of colonial and now neo-liberal exploitation.  I find his pronouncements on Boko Haram ironic, given that Blair’s single biggest legacy is to move the United Kingdom close to Nigerian standards of equality of wealth distribution.

The extraordinary thing is that Blair is somebody so hate-filled he wants to see yet more hatred, killing and violence.  It is worrying that the establishment media are so happy to promote his view without providing any balancing opinion. I comfort myself that the real motive of this silly speech was that, other than his media acolytes, absolutely nobody cares what he is saying.  It wasn’t so much a speech as a public display of ADD.

    @Mary

    What’s more so is our ability to not to be able to find a job whether worthwhile or not and
    Geographical educational knowledge is not ultimately fundamental too but concern of other peoples perspectives are.

  • Iain Orr

    This, pre-Iraq War and from someone who was far more generous to Blair than he needed to be:

    “… the Blairs’ instinctive sympathy has always been with Israel, and if Tony is vulnerable to any charge of partisanship, it is that he does not emotionally identify with the consistent repression of the Palestinian people.”
    – Robin Cook “The Point of Departure” (2003) p166, entry for 19 June, 2002.

  • Herbie

    “Blair isn’t hate-filled and he isn’t in it for the money either, though that comes as a nice bonus. He is a psychopath, plain and simple.”

    How did he get into Labour politics. It wasn’t quite the traditional route, was it.

    And so loved by media, even in the early days.

    Made for the role.

  • CanSpeccy

    “I find it interesting that no matter how Russia has been governed; monarchy, communist dictatorship or “democratically” elected president, their imperial tendencies are exactly the same.”

    Yes let’s damn Russia for its imperialistic “tendency” while ignoring that it’s the US with their Blairite puppets in the UK, France and the Persian Gulf who have killed hundreds of thousand, and probably millions, and created at least ten million refugees in just the last few years in their efforts to remake the map of the Middle East and who are now pushing on with their Nazi friends in Kyiv to complete the encirclement of Russia, to be followed by the encirclement of China.

  • Duncan McFarlane

    I doubt most 18-24 year olds in the UK could say where Iraq was on a map either – not because they’re dumb or poorly educated but because most of them unfortunately just aren’t interested

  • Daniel

    Once in a while, the mainstream media do their best to bring Blair back into the fold. But the public will never garner upon this war criminal and psychopath the recognition he craves.

  • Clark

    CanSpeccy, 6:50 pm; you were always a bit odd, but can you not see that you’re going quite mad? You’re obsessed with the reproduction rates of people from different countries and cultures. This is the stuff that preoccupied the Nazis and the eugenicists of the 20th century. People are people. You have to get over this “us and them” fixation; it’s unhealthy.

  • CanSpeccy

    Clark, whether you are a bit odd yourself, or perhaps stark staring mad, I don’t know, but what you and others of the liberal-left are doing is denying the ongoing genocide of the English while preening yourself on your superior morals, which seems contemptible to me.

    All creatures have an tendency to benefit their own kind and their closest kin at the expense of others. That is the law of life. Creatures that fail to put the interests of their own offspring and relatives and their own race over the interests of less closely related members of the same species lose out in the evolutionary contest. Technically, such behavior serves to maximize inclusive fitness, i.e., the representation of the individual’s genes in future generations.

    Liberal racial pseudo-science, touted as anti-racism, denies this fundamental law of evolutionary biology and thereby supports genocide of the English by promoting every kind of non-reproductive sex while encouraging mass immigration of people who, for the most part, regard liberal ideology with the contempt that it deserves.

    As a result, the English race is already more than half-way eliminated in London, Leicester, Luton, and Slough, and in Birmingham’s primary schools English children are not even the largest minority. Under the genocidal policies of all three main-line parties, the English will be a minority across the land within barely half a century.

    Liberals today have an attitude reminiscent of that of the pre-war Colonel Blimp: complacent, pig-headed and ignorant. They are the stupids who “rule” in a democratic society because they are the people most easily brainwashed by a treasonous elite.

    If pressed, some more intelligent liberals might justify universal destruction of the nation state as the necessary precondition for the New World Order, aka American Global hegemony. That, presumably, is why the globalists such as Craig Murray like to demonize the Russians as imperialists: it distracts attention from the imperialism of the cause they serve, while hastening, they hope, the destruction of Russia as an ethnically defined state.

  • Jives

    CanSpeccy,

    ” the ongoing genocide of the English”

    What a load of hysterical gibberish mate.

    Go and have a lie down will ya?

  • CanSpeccy

    Jives, you’re a liberal-leftist wonder. Just like every other defender of genocide, you cannot apparently present a single argument or rebut a single fact: just the usual liberal leftist jeers and sneers. But just in case anyone visiting this blog is interested in clarification of what is happening and what is at stake:

    England, like the rest of Western Europe, has been occupied by the American empire since the end of WWII.

    What is the greatest threat to imperial control? Nationalism.

    How do empires combat nationalist opposition? Genocide.

    “The crime of the [German Nazi] Reich in wantonly and deliberately wiping out whole peoples is not utterly new in the world. It is only new in the civilized world as we have come to think of it. It is so new in the traditions of civilized man that he has no name for it.

    “It is for this reason that I took the liberty of inventing the word, “genocide.” … As Von Rundstedt has suggested the term does not necessarily signify mass killings although it may mean that.

    “More often it refers to a coordinated plan aimed at destruction of the essential foundations of the life of national groups so that these groups wither and die like plants that have suffered a blight. The end may be accomplished by the forced disintegration of political and social institutions, of the culture of the people, of their language, their national feelings and their religion. It may be accomplished by wiping out all basis of personal security, liberty, health and dignity. When these means fail the machine gun can always be utilized as a last resort. Genocide is directed against a national group as an entity and the attack on individuals is only secondary to the annihilation of the national group to which they belong” – Raphael Lemkin.

    The methods deployed by the puppets of empire, Heath, Thatcher, Major, Blair, Cameron, are slow but sure. The English are already more than half way eliminated in London, Luton, Leicester and Slough, and headed for minority status across the land within 50 years, a rather short time in the life of a nation.

    Ten things Proving Tony bliar’s ‘extremism’

    1, Tony bliar has never shown a shred of remorse for the extremism of mass slaughter and destruction for which he was directly responsible, not least in Iraq

    2, Tony bliar is a supporter of extremism around the world, whether it be the dictators in Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan, the despots ruling the oil states Kuwait and Bahrain, or Israel’s apartheid regime that occupies Palestinian land in contravention of international law and countless UN resolutions. When prime minister, not content with waging illegal wars, he was up to his neck in CIA torture and kidnapping ‘every step of the way’.

    5, bliar has called repeatedly for western military intervention in the Syrian civil war. He believes it was a terrible error that the west did not launch an air attack on Syria in August 2013. He says the west should impose no-fly zones and arm directly the Syrian rebels. He believes Britain should have invaded Syria, whether the British public wanted it or not (all opinion polls show a majority of the British public opposes intervention)..

    6, bliar’s lack of self awareness and remorse makes him a highly dangerous individual and totally unsuited to his role as envoy for peace in the Middle East. He supported Israel’s wars in Lebanon and Gaza. He never loses an opportunity to praise the Israeli apartheid state, one recent example being his sickening eulogy at the funeral of the mass murdering former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, who he called “a giant of this land”.

    8, When under fire for his disastrous record, Tony Blair’s answer is to blame the Muslims. He attacks Islam as a means of absolving his wars from any connection or responsibility for atrocities like the London bombings on 7 July 2005 and the killing in 2013 of UK soldier Lee Rigby. He accuses Muslims of imposing an ideology based on the belief that there is one proper religion and only one proper view of it. As he well knows, this is not the view of most Muslims in most countries. It is true however of his allies in Saudi Arabia.

    9, bliar is an ‘extremist’ when it comes to accumulating vast personal wealth – now calculated to be over £70 million – by exploiting the contacts he made when he was prime minister, committing war crimes that should have seen him behind bars. He sells his services to merchant bankers, oil companies and despotic regimes such as Kazakhstan, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. He is one of the world’s highest paid public speakers, often earning over £250,000 for one speech. He flies around in a £30 million private chartered jet. On top of this, he takes £435,000 a year from the British taxpayers, who finance the prime minister’s pension of £70,000 which he still draws, the £250,000 cost of his security and £115,000 for his ‘political office’…

    Sad, touching Poem in the comments section… ‘I Am You’ By – Refaat Alareer

    The poem ends thus –

    All you have to do
    ‏Is close your eyes
    ‏(Seeing these days
    ‏Blinds our hearts.)
    ‏Close your eyes, tightly
    ‏So that you can see
    ‏In your mind’s eye.
    ‏Then look into the mirror.
    ‏One. Two.
    ‏I am you.
    ‏I am your past.
    ‏And killing me,
    ‏You kill you.

    Anon:
    Blair is very like “the portrait of Dorian Grey”.
    As the years progress, the poison that is inside the man begins to show in his face.
    He is a very evil person with no conscience.
    It is wishful thinking and I do believe that what goes around ,comes around.
    If he does die in bed, I hope that its his prison bed.
    Meanwhile declared costs of Chilcott are 7.5 million and growing as the war criminals circle their waggons and block any publication ,progress, or access to evidence of their crimes.The fact that it is allowed to happen shows that the UK really is a failed State.

    The perceived lack of knowledge of the position of Iraq on a map did not stop Americans putting these bumper stickers on their vehicles and signing up for the war in their thousands upon thousands.

    http://www.cafepress.ca/+iraq-war+bumper-stickers
    http://www.zazzle.co.uk/iraq+bumperstickers

    Mummies and Daddies even boasted of their children’s efforts such as ‘I Love My Navy Daughter’.

    ~~~
    Thanks Brian for your post and the short poem.
    Donny Darko I don’t think there will ever be a Chilcot Report. It was designed to be a piece of theatre for the Ac-Tors. BLiar is the consummate Ac-Tor.
    Isn’t Tony Blair simply an Israeli govt mouthpiece?
    It’s possible that he doesn’t realise it himself, but he does seem to have been subverted; not that he was unsympathetic in the first place. One reading might be that Israel has had a lot of difficulty with Russia vis-a-vis Syria. The usual two-faced relationship failed when Russia proved to be inflexible on backing Assad, and supplied/planned to supply ( I’m not clear on whether they arrived) advanced missiles to him. These were seen by Israel, like anything else not giftwrapped and sent with love from the US, as a threat. Yeah, yeah, Hezbullah could have got their hands on them, but it was pretty obvious they weren’t going there. Tony has pull with the oligarchs, and – who knows? – with Putin, and can be relied on to point out the common interest in suppressing Syria and weakening – hopefully destroying – Iran. Which is always the Israeli endgame.
    Delighted to see Hamas and Fatah have managed to sink their differences, at least for now. Worth it, alone to hear the lying neo-nazi bastard Regev squirming when it was pointed out that for years the Israelis have declined to deal on the basis that not all Palestinians were represented ( thanks entirely to the Israelis) while the latest noises coming from Tel Aviv clearly indicate that Israel declines to deal when all Palestinians are represented, because Hamas will now be part of the process.
    A little earlier in the week, in this connection, it was entertaining to hear Joe Biden on the subject of Ukraine:
    “No nation has the right to simply grab land from another nation,” Biden said. “We will never recognize Russia’s illegal occupation of Crimea.”
    US to urge return of West Bank to Palestine? I think not.
    Ramzy Baroud on Indyk and the ‘peace talks’ pretence.
    Martin Indyk’s Galloping Horse
    Moral Crisis at Heart of Obama’s Peace
    by Ramzy Baroud / April 23rd, 2014
    To understand how thoughtless the US latest ‘peace process’ drive has been, one only needs to consider some of the characters involved in this political theater. One particular character who stands out as a testament to the inherently futile exercise is Martin Indyk.
    Indyk, a former US ambassador to Israel, was selected by Secretary of State John Kerry for the role of Special Envoy for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Under normal circumstances, Kerry’s selection may appear somewhat rational. Former ambassadors oftentimes possess the needed expertise to navigate challenging political landscapes in countries where they previously served. But these are not normal circumstances, and Indyk is hardly a diplomat in the strict use of the term.
    “And there’s the rub. He’s sold his soul to the devil, he can feel the flames of hell licking at his heels, his credibility is disintegrating leaving him less and less to offer, and he knows that a time will come, maybe soon, when he’s worth more to them as a victim than a victor. And then he’ll find out what his devil’s contract is worth – they’ll throw him to the wolves to wring one more bit of use out of him.”
    Not a bad analysis, anode, he’s throshing for the warmongers global inc. now. This was followed by the latest shitbrained idea by this Government to radicalise Muslims some more.
    I find the drive by Cmdr. Ball of the Met nauseatingly stupid, trying to persuade mothers to inform on their jihadi inspired sons, primitive information gathering.
    Cmdr. Ball does not say that she will share all the information gathered in specific national call centres, with the NSA and GCHQ, she does not mention what will happen to radicalised young women and men who, despite this initiative, still go on to humanitarian and jihadi causes to Syria and elsewhere.
    what will it mean to a Muslim community to have young men arrested in the morning, who helped bring humanitarian aid to Syria.
    And what does this mean for all those Muslims who founght in Afghanistan as part of NATO’s effort, who, blessed by a priest/iman, went there to fight the Taliban, who swore an oath to kill for Queen and country? Will they have to worry about a wedding trip or for visiting relatives in Pakistan, because they have fought before?
    Is this measure discouraging young Muslims to serve in the Forces?
    This awful decision is well prepared and backed up, but will do nothing but radicalise Muslims some more, a game of nudge.
    Muslim mothers, women should resist this call which is nothing but primitive information gathering by a country prepared to arm mad Saudi paid jihadists as they see fit, but don’t want to see ‘rogue mercenaries’ they have not indoctrinated themselves.
    Dumbing down seems to have reached the highest echelons now.
    You have exposed the hypocrisy of the powers-that-be who run this state Nevermind. They probably pretend not to see the irony.
    Briar,
    Perhaps; my own perception is that is fairly widely understood – the problem is the people in the media and the political establishment who make a fat living from supporting it.
    “The real failure in this country is to understand that the US is an Empire.”
    And the UK is part of it.
    I think most people who contribute here are aware of US imperialistic aims for world domination, but there are one or two, paid and unpaid, who are in denial. There are still people who believe that global warming is not an issue. There are still some who believe 9/11 was not an inside job (but avoid calling for any kind of impartial investigation). As Tony Blair said, history will judge.
    Following the money, Israel, Blair – the extent of Blair’s involvement in Israel’s effective annexation of the Gaza gas field may be new to some. This is the pretty straight sort of guy who had the fucking gall to represent himself as a mediator – and still does.
    http://mondediplo.com/blogs/israel-s-war-for-gaza-s-gas
    This is very well worth a read, IMO. Follow-the-money country, shows who gains from maintaining Gaza as an isolated ghetto slum. Blair among them.
    Jemand – looks like hizb.org (which you cited) have the same difficulty…
    http://www.hizb.org.uk/current-affairs/blair-says-the-ideological-struggle-against-islam-should-trump-every-other-agenda
    Problem being that “militant/fundamentalist/Salafist” Islam is ambiguous. It can make the distinction, or it can be taken, particularly by racialists and neocons, as dogwhistle politics for “Islam” without the distinction.
    In any case, there is little evidence that Blair himself intended a distinction from what I have to call moderate Islam; whether through naivete, or through his natural desire to ingratiate himself with his corporate and political allies he omitted to make one. And there is no doubt that by his own actions he has helped to create and enhance the desire for a potent and feared new Caliphate.
    Purely as an aside: If this were a Christian country, with a God-fearing, moral and devout population adhering to the Book’s teachings, it’s worth a moment to speculate on quite how interested the Salafists would be in changing our wicked ways, isn’t it? My guess is, not much.
  • Ba'al Zevul (Dark Artist)
    I like him too, Nevermind.
    If Galloway actually completes “The Killing of Tony Blair”, and if the research is any good at all, it is going to be an extremely long film…
