What Did You Expect? 693

I have no sympathy at all for anybody who voted No on the grounds of the pledges by Brown, Miliband, Cameron and Clegg about constitutional change, and is now whingeing about the blatant dishonour of those pledges. I cannot understand how anybody could be so stupid as to have believed them, and yet have a brain capable of sparking respiration.

Labour is interested in losing no influence of Scottish Labour MPs on any UK or English matters. It wants greater powers to English metropolitan councils which are controlled by Labour – because that will give Labour careerists more jobs and access to contracts. Those are Labours “constitutional reform” goals. The Conservatives “constitutional reform” goals are to keep Scotland’s tax on oil revenues and tax on whisky coming to Westminster, while loading greater responsibilities but no more money on the Scottish parliament, and stopping Scottish MPs voting on English matters thus guaranteeing conservative apparatchiks continued jobs and access to contracts.

Both Tories and Labour want to keep the appalling corrupt and undemocratic House of Lords for its jobs for apparatchiks, access to contracts etc.

Nobody cares what the Lib Dems think anyway.

I ask again – what did you expect?

This is the collective wisdom of Andy Myles and myself, over an excellent mackerel breakfast at Nom De Plume.

    …. and Fred,
I give up on our argument. We are into angels/pinhead density quibbles again

  • fred

That Alistair Darling has a way with words hasn’t he?

“I say this to Alex Salmond – you lost the argument, you lost the referendum, you’ve lost office and now you’ve lost the plot.”

  • Republicofscotland

Just as US/UK are “deliberating” over whether to strike at ISIS in Syria, said existential threat ups its attacks inside Syria. Well, if that isn’t a convenient coincidence, I don’t know what is !

And you know you’re in trouble when Tony Blair says on SKY news that now is the time for boots on the ground in Syria. The Jihadi John 3 CD comedy execution box set has done the trick, God help the poor Syrian civilians

Baa! Humbug’s logic is the same as David Cameron’s, after rigging the Independence vote, he wants to re-jig the UK parliament. The obvious next step to placating Scottish voters. Not.

I didn’t rig the independence vote, Guano. I’d like to make that very clear. Nor is my logic at all the same as Cameron’s. It’s not going to be possible to redo the independence issue any time soon. Don’t let wishful thinking get in the way of reality. Therefore, I’d like to see a climate in which the next independence referendum gets the desired result, OR in which the UK becomes a fairer place all round, and no-one wants to leave it. I am not for Cameron’s solution, which, whatever it looks like, will result in the political mixture as before. And which will be the UKIP solution – lite, as that’s who he’s scared of.

I AM for real devolution of powers to regions (if you like) which have distinct identities and requirements. Including, for the moment, Scotland. You can be as gungho as you like for independence for Scotland, but it’s just been kicked into the long grass. (Sorry – I’ve just seen someone else using that cliche. I’m as sick as a parrot) My only claim to logic on this is that at the moment London is impoverishing the rest of the country by virtue of its enormous weight in the decision making process, and it needs to be cut down to size.

I think this is already gaining some traction in the regions, and it may take rather less effort than cutting Scotland loose, with fewer constitutional obstacles, and with more unanimous support in the regions concerned.

  • Habbabkuk (La vita è bella) !

“the Tories have kicked the new powers into the long grass meanwhile Ed (Friends of Israel) Miliband is terrified of the West Lothian Question.”

    ____________________–

Errors of casting and rroneous sequencing there, I’m afraid.

Labour is terrified that the West Lothian question will be taken off the table once and for all and that is why Labour is trying to kick the whole proposed package into the long grass by calling for a “Constitutional Conference”

The govt would be more than happy to make good on the further powers promised to Scotland but feels, entirely sensibly, that this is the time to tackle the West Lothian question as well.

Should Labour attempt to sabotage the granting of further powers to Scotland – in contradiction to what it signed up for before the referendum – it will pay a heavy price at the next elections in the UK and Scotland. Tee Hee!

Just noticed I posted an incomplete version at 7.37pm. Should have read:

“I consider you both great assets to this blog precisely because you both have unusual views and are prepared to explain and defend them.”

    Dear Ba’al

    No.

Baa! Humbug is my favourite pisstake word for Habbabkuk, because it’s all he ever does, deny, deny , deny.

Sorry if I’ve caused offence to you..

  • mike

RoS, Indeed re Blair. That roach keeps popping up, no matter how often it’s stamped down.

He’s got a great track record on “sorting out” the middle east.

All psychos together, in their corporate media echo chamber…

Fred is a Fraud. Please stop talking to the idiot trolls. 500 + contributions of total hot air!

Agree 100%. Thank You Guano, so so true. But condemnation of trolls, is itself discussing them, feeding them, so treat them as if they are not even there, and given time they won’t be.

For the record Fred is reported reliably as having said his aim is purely to wind people up, if he has any political ideas, they tend in the direction of the far right. I get a strong impression there is more than one poster using the ID Fred, or one Fred with multiple personalities, switches between them happening frequently.

Thank you for that. My feeling is that this would give the culprit the best get out. So if that apology is forthcoming before midnight tonight I will refrain from involving outside agencies despite my belief that impersonation in order to discredit is a very serious offence.

“For example, he has often repeated the lie that I am in favour of torture . . .”

That is another of Habbabkuk’s many misrepresentations, including the one again today that I am a Stalinist, which I have repeatedly complained about, and which Habbabkuk would no doubt like others to believe even though he knows it himself to be untrue (a typical trick that if something is repeated often enough others will come to believe it). Does he work for the BBC? The whole torture issue arose out of Habbabkuk and Resident Dissident/ESLO’s apparent support for Guantanamo Bay and what goes on there. I gave Habbabkuk ample opportunities to deny that he supported torture and until his comment this afternoon there has been no denial of which I am aware.

As to him and others wanting to set the rules for the blog regarding what the Craig and the mods decide I think that is, to say the least, impertinent.

  • Fedup

Kurdish Pershmerga have found that most of the ISIS fighters they have captured are Afghanis with UK passports.

Well done the collaborator mosques of Birmingham and Bradford!

What collaboration are you talking about?

Who are the collaborators you are pointing the fingers to?

As ever you wound more extreme than an EDL/zionist scum but seeing as we have your word for it and you are a “Muslim” then it is OK!

How are you getting the data through from the “Pershmerga” [sick] whom never indulged in any sexual deviancies as per your claims in your other comments?!

Incidentally how many Afghans were imported and used in the Afghan Terrain Simulation for the training of soldiers?

You will come back with some retort as per usual to cover up for your half arsed racist pontifications of course; over to you!

  • guano

What has happened in Guantanamo Bay, and all other torture premises, is the chemical mind control of Muslims subjected to torture in order to make them lose their Muslim values, in the hope that others will in turn follow them like the Germans followed Hitler.

As to Mr Darling’s sneer at Alex Salmond I would counter that cheating is worse even than spying, and utterly objectionable under any religion, including Mosaic Law. Oh, the Zionists don’t do Moses. Silly me, it is allowed under Talmudic interpretation ( negation ) of Mosaic Law.

  • guano

    Fedup

You are right. Ignore everything I’ve said so far. Why does it upset you so much that Afghans are killing Syrians and that the India-Pakistani scholars pray for their success in this endeavour?

Everything is fine and I just adore the little sweet lies of the mad mullas. Don’t you? It’s so cute. Darling little poodles of USUKIS war on Islam. So sweet! So clever!

310,000 on the streets of New York. Hope Tony Blair was watching (he’s in NYC kibitzing around the UN General Assembly this week). He might remember one of his less successful sidelines – ‘Breaking The Climate Deadlock’ it was called, a partnership between himself and the Climate Group, funded in part by Oleg Deripaska, which seems to have died around 2011. Amd which promoted globalist-friendly partial solutions to climate change. Surpeise.

“Fedup, you have fallen into the same trap as I successfully set for Mr Scorgie.”

    ——————————————————

Habbabkuk, you are again boasting and lying but that’s just you I suppose.

You shy away from matters Israel every time Habbabkuk by never giving a straight answer.

I have said on numerous occasions that Israel has no right to exist as a Jewish state but you fail, every time, to take me up on that statement.

Try and come up with something intelligent on that point.

You may believe that the news from Iraq about ISIS is media political manipulation. Those who choose to be blind in this life will be raised blind in the hereafter.

Those lovely “Scotsmen” from the Louden Tavern will be out in force again, doing their bit for progressive politics.

I’ve got to say, anybody that defeats, US and French aggression is okay in my book, Ho chi Min (Who’s name means “Bringer of Light”) actually studied in France, and was said to be a great admirer of the French actor/singer Charles Aznavour.

  • Peacewisher

@Guano: Thank you for that. I’ve often wondered how the Viet Cong managed to defeat The Imperial Masters.

  • fred

“There’s quite a few like Fred in comments.”

There were plenty like you in Creig Dunain as well.

Look if you cunts really want a flame war then you just keep on making it personal and I’ll be happy to oblige but just remember who started it.

    Fucking wankers.

    “fucking wankers”

Sorry, Fred. I should have known any humor would be lost.

Thanks Guano — I so much enjoyed reading General Giap

“Every inhabitant is a soldier, every village a fortress.” is in few words the primary storyline now imperialism has openly revealed its essence.
