Hope Over Fear Rally 38

That was not purring – that was the death rattle of the monarchy in Scotland.

I was rather proud of that one. A fantastic day in George Square yesterday. I am grateful to whoever in the crowd took this video.

I do not know whether the organisers were taking any closer video or if it will appear. The sound quality was actually rather poor in the square itself. If you went further back than this, you could not hear the speakers at all.

There were 8,000 in the Square most of the time, but attendance over the seven hour period was much higher than that. I met a great many people, particularly in the pub last night, who had missed my speech because they had either left before it or arrived after it. But the atmosphere throughout the day was electric and extremely positive.

I am wondering whether a permanent occupation camp in George Square – right through to Independence – might be a useful initiative. I am looking for somewhere to live in Scotland anyway….

YESSERS From Kilmarnock told me that OAP’s in Cumnock had been advised to stock up with food in case there was a YES vote. As they wouldn’t be getting their pension.

ESSERS From Kilmarnock told me that OAP’s in Cumnock had been advised to stock up with food in case there was a YES vote. As they wouldn’t be getting their pension.

The really depressing thing is that many OAPs believed this kind of crude propaganda. When you reach say, 70, does you brain suddenly turn to mush or something?

Are you suggesting Germany and Spain for instance are not independent because they are in the EU? Away and don’t annoy us, as they say in Glasgow

The EU is an entirely voluntary organisation. Any Independent country can leave it or apply to join it

  • nevermind, there's a future, still

    I repeat my question
MJ said “Any views on TTIP? Do you know what TTIP is?”
    I replied
“yes I do, and I have lobbied my MEP’s to vote against it, have you, MJ?”

“Are you suggesting Germany and Spain for instance are not independent because they are in the EU?”

Of course. They are subject to legislation that does not derive from their own parliaments. You can freely apply to join but you give up your sovereignty and independence by doing so. That’s the deal. I don’t know why you find my comments annoying.

“I repeat my question…I have lobbied my MEP’s to vote against it, have you…?”

A fair question and the answer is that I haven’t. My local MEPs (and MP) are such a bunch of hopeless Cameron acolytes that I prefer to ignore them. Glad to hear that you have done so – I’d be interested to hear what response you got. Apologies for my question, which was patronising. Your comment about buttering the toast of multinationals struck me as foolish.

    My MEPs are

    Nigel Farage UKIP
    Janice Atkinson UKIP
    Diane James UKIP
    Ray Finch UKIP
    Daniel Hannan Con
    Richard Ashworth Con
    Njri Deva Con
    Keith Taylor Green
    Catherine Bearder LD
    Anneliese Dodds Lab

If I receive a reply from just one ref TTIP, I will be surprised.

” When you reach say, 70, does you brain suddenly turn to mush or something? ”

No of course not. I won’t say all but some nationalists are looking for somebody to blame for the lost vote and think “senile” oldies are as good a scapegoat as any.
