Why Murdoch Pushes for War 153

Given the disgraceful Sun front page and middle spread urging war on Syria, and the all-out propaganda on Sky News, it is important to understand why Murdoch is pushing so hard for war. I therefore reproduce my article from February 2013. It is important to note that the links are to industry publications: this is very genuine, hard information.

Israel Grants Oil Rights in Syria to Murdoch and Rothschild

Israel has granted oil exploration rights inside Syria, in the occupied Golan Heights, to Genie Energy. Major shareholders of Genie Energy – which also has interests in shale gas in the United States and shale oil in Israel – include Rupert Murdoch and Lord Jacob Rothschild. This from a 2010 Genie Energy press release

Claude Pupkin, CEO of Genie Oil and Gas, commented, “Genie’s success will ultimately depend, in part, on access to the expertise of the oil and gas industry and to the financial markets. Jacob Rothschild and Rupert Murdoch are extremely well regarded by and connected to leaders in these sectors. Their guidance and participation will prove invaluable.”

“I am grateful to Howard Jonas and IDT for the opportunity to invest in this important initiative,” Lord Rothschild said. “Rupert Murdoch’s extraordinary achievements speak for themselves and we are very pleased he has agreed to be our partner. Genie Energy is making good technological progress to tap the world’s substantial oil shale deposits which could transform the future prospects of Israel, the Middle East and our allies around the world.”

For Israel to seek to exploit mineral reserves in the occupied Golan Heights is plainly illegal in international law. Japan was succesfully sued by Singapore before the International Court of Justice for exploitation of Singapore’s oil resources during the second world war. The argument has been made in international law that an occupying power is entitled to opeate oil wells which were previously functioning and operated by the sovereign power, in whose position the occupying power now stands. But there is absolutely no disagreement in the authorities and case law that the drilling of new wells – let alone fracking – by an occupying power is illegal.

Israel tried to make the same move twenty years ago but was forced to back down after a strong reaction from the Syrian government, which gained diplomatic support from the United States. Israel is now seeking to take advantage of the weakened Syrian state; this move perhaps casts a new light on recent Israeli bombings in Syria.

In a rational world, the involvement of Rothschild and Murdoch in this international criminal activity would show them not to be fit and proper persons to hold major commercial interests elsewhere, and action would be taken. Naturally, nothing of the kind will happen.

The pervert zionist vermin masquerading as an Aussie has a long form, and for some unfathomable reason is allowed to spew hate and bile without any let or hindrance.

FFS what point of any value this racist parasite has forwarded that his vile comments should not be deleted?

  • Ba'al Zevul

Is such charming etiquette part of your Brigade 77 repertoire ?

Is that your private language, or can anyone play?

  • Mary

Macky Thanks. You run the risk of being smeared by association with me! The banning of these trolls never seems to last.

  • Ba'al Zevul

Advise against joining in with the racists.

As defined by…? Oh yes, you. Sorry, love. This isn’t a cosy little club for people who toe your line. It’s an open comments page on an interesting and often contentious blog. And my liberty of expression is exactly equal to yours. If Jemand is by some definition a racist, he at least has intelligent comments to make, and doesn’t spam the board.

You may care to study his technique, and learn.

Ba’al; “Is that your private language, or can anyone play?”

You should really avoid playing dumb, nobody can tell the difference.

“2. Your constant disingenuous attempts to smear people as anti-Semites, because they dare highlight not just the crimes committed daily by Israel, but also how Israel is able to get away & carry on committing its crimes, is fooling nobody, except of course your fellow feeble-minded as mentioned above.”
    _________________

That is a deliberate and tendentious reading of my posts, Macky.

The people I call Jew-baiters and haters (I prefer that expression to “anti-semites” lest Mr Scorgie tells me for the hundereth time that “semites” are both Jews and Arabs) are in general not those that castigate Israel for policies they disapprove of but rather those who make a point of telling us, for example, that the board of Genie Oil have “Anglo-Saxon names” or (if memory serves) that one of David Cameron’s four grandfathers was of Jewish origin. Or even those who take the trouble – one wonders why – to quibble about whether five rather than the claimed six million European Jews were killed in the Holocaust

But you already know that, Macky, so I suppose you’re just up to your usual mischief again. But at least you run less risk of getting a kicking from Craig when you write about something other than your hero President Putin.

Have a nice day, Macky, no more attention from me for today I’m afraid! 🙂

“Actually, the Vanguard Group is one of the good guys in the financial world, not to be confused with the likes of Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan etc.”

Ok, I’m no financial guru, but I’d would think that being JP Morgan’s top investment holder with value of $14,326,546,755 would mean it had some say and influence within the bank.

    9 American Express Co.
    10 Simon Property Group Inc

Vanguard Inc not just connected to US interests.

Dalit Baum, Ph.D., states ” that Israel’s military control of historic Palestine may be costly to Arabs, but is a huge money-maker for Israeli and multinational companies.”

    http://www.wrmea.org/wrmea-archives/369 … stine.html

I’m sure it will come as no surprise that, under scrutiny, many of these companies that do business in Israel, such as, NORTHROP GRUMMAN CORP, GENERAL ELECTRIC CORPORATION and DELL are controlled by The Vanguard Group.

Vanguard Inc also had the largest shareholdings in the four main banks in Israel, Hapoalim group, Bank Leumi group, Discount Bank group and Mizrahi-Tfahot Bank group.

    http://www.interfaithpeaceinitiative.com/profiting.pdf

However, they didn’t hold any shares in Syrian banks, Syria’s central bank were state owned. So were most other banks.

Libya’s, under Gadaffi, central bank was also state owned. It created its own money.

Another region The Vanguard Group has interests in was Sudan.

It would appear if reports are to be beleived that there have been a few humanitarian issues concerning Sudan and the region, in recent years.

For example, On March 4, 2009, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Sudanese President Omar Bashir for crimes against humanity and, in July 2010, a warrant for arrest on charges of genocide.

    http://worldwithoutgenocide.org/genocid … r-genocide

I’m not sure of current state of things, but arond that time PetroChina was one of the largest oil industry partners of the government of Sudan — a government headed by a wanted war criminal.

So you might be surprised that the ‘good guy’ as you put it, The Vanguard Group, increased its holdings in PetroChina at that time.

    http://amchron.soundenterprises.net/articles/view/98799

Speaking of bad guys, The Vanguard Group also has vested interests in the prision system of US.

    Heres an article:

According to public analysis from Bloomberg, the largest holder in Corrections Corporation of America is Vanguard Group Incorporated. Interestingly enough, Vanguard also holds considerable stake in the media giants determining this country’s culture.

Last year Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), the biggest name in the private prison industry, contacted 48 states offering to buy their prisons. One stipulation of eligibility for the deal was particularly bizarre: “an assurance by the agency partner that the agency has sufficient inmate population to maintain a minimum 90% occupancy rate over the term of the contract.

    http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/ccaletter.pdf

Two months later an anonymous email was sent out to various members of the music and publishing industries giving an account of a meeting where it was determined that hip-hop music would be manipulated to drive up privatized prison profits.

Its author, despite claiming to be a former industry insider, did not provide the names of anyone involved in the plot, nor did he specify by which company he himself was employed. As such, the letter was largely regarded as a fraud for lack of facts.
    http://www.waxpoetics.com/blog/news/music-industry-confession
    ……

Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) put it; “‘hip-hop” is just shorthand for ‘black people.’”

Before our eyes and ears, a “web of business relationships that now defines America’s media and culture” has one particular business raking in billions of dollars while another defines the culture of a specific demographic as criminal.

Both business are owned by the same people. Mainstream media continue to endorse hip-hop that glorifies criminality (most notably drug trafficking and violence), and private prison interests, long since proven to value profits over human rights, usher in inmates of color to meet capacity quotas.

The same people disproportionately incarcerated when exposed to the criminal justice system are at every turn inundated with media normalizing incarceration to the point that wherever there is mainstream hip-hop music, reference to imprisonment as an ordinary, even expected, component of life is sure to follow.

‘Ordinary Joe’ may well be getting a good deal on his investment, with Vanguard inc, but does he realise what projects his money help to facilitate.

Oh dear oh dear, Ba’al Zevul appears to have attracted the ire of a couple of the Excellences today.

Now I can understand that Mary has never forgiven me for reaching out to her with what I thought was an appropriate nursery rhyme (“Mary, Mary, quite contrary”) and Macky’s disapproval of me increased to obsessional levels after I communicated to readers of this blog some of his ravings against Craig and the then mods on Squonk…… but what on earth has Ba’al done to Mary and Macky?

Could it be that he has committed the supreme offence of disagreeing with some of the thing they say?

    Re: Thierry:

He constantly does things like this

Six months ago, I was astonished by the blindness of the EU leaders, who failed to understand that the intention of the United States was to weaken their countries, including by means of the « refugee crisis » [2].

Last month, the magazine Info Direkt confirmed that, according to the Austrian Intelligence services, the passage of Syrian refugees to Europe was organised by the United States [3]. This charge still has to be verified, but already constitutes a solid hypothesis.

Well, me personally, I was astonished by Thierry’s slipperiness when after writing this sentence:

” Last month, the magazine Info Direkt confirmed that, according to the Austrian Intelligence services, the passage of Syrian refugees to Europe was organised by the United States [3].

Now that sounds pretty “solid info” the way Thierry writes it there,

    Oh but wait . . .

“This charge still has to be verified, but already constitutes a solid hypothesis.

    seriously, Thierry?

  • Hieroglyph

Well, I think we can surmise why Murdoch does anything. A certain well known psychological condition – which we can’t prove – would seem the most obvious explanation.

Also, more practically, Rupycorps share structure has always been somewhat curious. Rather wealthy and powerful players have significant stakes in Rupycorp, and if he doesn’t play ball, well who knows what could occur? I think the old digger is very powerful, but also a student of power – which means he knows fine well that toe-ing the neocon line is good for business, and good for Rupert personally. Truly Blair is his protege, well until, you know, the allegations …

Over here there have been lots of headlines about refugees. Our neocon controllers must think we are rubes. It’s perfectly obvious that the plight of the refugees is being manipulated to sell the case for another stupid war, and not even controversial. But still the cynicism is churned out, every day, 24 hours. I begin to wonder if I should just not read any corporate media at all. Waste of effort.

“I was astonished by Thierry’s slipperiness”

He’s not a great journalist. He has a pre-conceived narrative in his head and he will find support for that narrative in evidence that is flaky or non-existent. I wouldn’t say however that he is more guilty in this regard than the average MSM/BBC hack. He shares an all-too-common journalistic malaise.

In my view, one area where he does score over many of his peers is that he is prepared to discuss, in detail, evidence that is in the public domain. When journalists do this, it doesn’t matter what their views are because we can all familiarise ourselves with the evidence in question and come to our own informed view on the matter.

In the latest article I think his analysis of the photo is interesting. There are very few journalists in the MSM who would attempt something similar. His remarks about Syrian passports may also turn out to be significant.

  • fedup

This charge still has to be verified, but already constitutes a solid hypothesis.

    I was listening to women on the metro today talking about it;

Woman one; How come all these refugees are bunched together and are marching in their thousands?

Woman two; I have noticed most of those interviewed are pretty clean, children seem to be clean, and well clothed, none of them seem to be dehydrated, emaciated, or even undernourished?

WO; these must have money for paying thousands to smugglers to get them out.
WT; there seems to be some sort of organisation behind it all.

Obviously these women were talking out of their handbags, FFS what would they know and how could they notice such a thing?

The logistics of getting thousands out of Turkey and keeping them fed and transport them across Europe can be done by a couple of smugglers who are used to smuggling a couple of boxes of booze and few cartons of cigarettes, see how resourceful these smugglers can be?

Carey again. Why was he trying to get this creep off?

Former bishop Peter Ball admits sex offences
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-34184967

‘It was argued Ball and the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord George Carey, had been assured by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) at that time that there would be no future action over the allegations.

But Mr Justice Sweeney refused to dismiss the case earlier this year.’

‘Ball’s lawyer, Richard Smith QC, suggested the CPS may have settled on the caution to avoid the publicity of a bishop in the dock.

The court heard Lord Carey also sought assurances the case was closed.

But allegations resurfaced when the Diocese of Bath and Wells reviewed the cases, prompting Sussex Police to reopen the investigation.

The Sussex force later charged him with misconduct and a string of sex offences.’

A video link from Taunton, near Ball’s home, was used.

Thierry Myessan is interested in secularism and he takes that interest into the analysis of events in the Middle East. I wonder how an intellectual could deny the existence of God.
That’s very French. Switch off your brain. Funny, I exist without my brain => I am, independent of God. False logic. Just because God has given us a degree of independence, e.g.e legs and a brain to think for ourselves, does not mean that God does not provide the planet, its infrastructure, the human existence, brain, heart, feelings, memory and supporting metabolism.

The reason why Thierry is useful is that he rejects the Judae-Christian gross manipulation of religion for political purposes. We have to bomb Libya to save the Libyans from this monster dictator. He also refuses to accept the political manipulation of Political Islam, i.e. the Muslim Brotherhood and Saudi false ideology of Takfirism.

So that’s 2 bugbears disposed of in his writing, which form the stalemate we are now in, a false dichotomy between USUKIS hegemonical twisting of the truth and theocratical twisting of the truth by Muslim gangsters sitting on the chairs of the sholars of Islam.

Funnily enough in this dogfight between in-bred mastiffs and bulldogs, both parties see themselves as the inheritors of the earth, USUKIS dreaming about watching Armageddon from the clouds with Jesus pbuh and Saudi Arabia dreaming about welcoming Jesus pbuh on his return to this world in Damascus.

Jesus pbuh will curse both the squabbling religious parties. The Thierries of this world who seek salvation in secularism have already cursed themselves by their denial of God.

    update
    September 8, 2015

An explosive new report from the Daily Beast’s Betsy Woodruff looks at how the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), one of America’s two large private prison corporations, has seen its profits explode, thanks to a little-noticed move by the Obama administration.

Woodruff notes that before last summer, there was virtually no “family detention,” referring to the detention of migrant families crossing the border, children included, in U.S. immigrant detention facilities. But as Human Rights Watch’s Antonio Ginatta noted, “now we’re in the thousands.”

It started last summer, when large numbers of families fleeing violence in Central America started crossing over into the United States. The Obama administration opened a facility in Artesia, New Mexico, to detain these families; after controversy, that facility was closed and a new one operated by CCA opened in Dilley, Texas, with a capacity of 2,400 beds.

Woodruff notes that CCA’s quarterly report shows its profits in the second quarter of 2015 were $49 million higher than the same period in 2014, largely due to the expansion in detaining migrant families. The Dilley facility alone generated $36 million in revenue during the quarter.

Appears Cheney was cited in an indictment 2008 for conflict of interest.

“Cheney’s stake in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies that run the detention centers, was cited in the indictment. Cheney is accused of a conflict of interest and “at least misdemeanor assaults” on detainees through his ownership interest.

Gonzales is accused of using his position during his time as Attorney General to block an investigation into abuses at the detention centers, located in south Texas.”

County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra Guerra told KVEO 23, an NBC affiliate in Texas, that “elected officials were embedded into the prison business and that it goes all the way to the top.”
