Stella Creasy Demands I Retract Article 237

UPDATE

Ms Stella Creasy is offended by this article. At 8.14am this morning 5 December she tweeted:

“This is just an offensive and wrong article and I hope Mr Murray retracts.”

Nothing in it is wrong to the best of my knowledge, but if anything is, I should be most happy to retract it. Nobody has indicated anything is factually wrong so far. I have changed the title of the post to be literal rather than sarcastic, because that was the only thing about it that was “wrong”.

But offensive? Really? She must be a very shrinking violet indeed.

Given that the whole point of this article is to suggest that Ms Creasy believes she should be above criticism and above democratic accountability, for her to describe the criticisms in this article as “offensive” purely proves my point. It is not offensive. It is legitimate criticism of somebody who lives off my taxes.

For me, the inevitable conclusion is that a woman whose Wikipedia page states “Creasy has aristocratic family connections on her mother’s side, including with the Howards, Earls of Carlisle (through whom she is related to Polly Toynbee), the Cayzer family and the present (9th) Viscount Gort who is her fourth cousin” believes she is not answerable to the hoi polloi.

If she regards this article as “offensive” and something that should be retracted, and given she described the extremely polite vigil in the video below as “intimidation”, I think we can all form our own view of Ms Creasy and her sense of entitlement to rule.

For the benefit of the media, she is currently organising a “public meeting” with in fact a highly selected and vetted audience to be seen to be “open and democratic” and justify to her constituents her decision to blow up Syrian children. Expect wall to wall media coverage of stooges coming out saying she convinced them.

The original article of which she complained starts here:

There is a very natural temptation for members of the SNP to laugh without sympathy at the universal media hostility faced by Corbyn and his supporters. That is because we faced an equally massive and equally unrelieved torrent of biased media propaganda during the referendum campaign, and then the entire Labour Party, including its left wing, not only did not condemn the biased media but actively sought to promote it.

On top of which the corporate media is in utter confusion in Scotland, and still largely under instruction to boost Labour, it being at least unionist. The peculiar result of this is that an alien landing in Livingston and following the media would come to the conclusion that John McTernan must be leader of the country, given his ubiquity on media and the extreme deference shown to him, especially by the state broadcaster.

I am however of a peculiarly forgiving disposition, and take the view that two wrongs don’t make a right. What is by any standards fascinating is the way that the media use precisely the same tactics against Corbyn they used against the SNP. First you have the expressions of scorn, of incredulity that such a view could be held, the dismissive body language of presenters, the comment of “unelectable” presented as fact.

When all that does not work, you get the portrayal of anybody putting forward a view outside the neo-con consensus as fanatic, desocialised and violent. We experienced precisely this with the massive “cybernat” campaign of the mainstream media, in which independence supporters were presented as hideous thugs and bullies. This is precisely the narrative which is now being relentlessly deployed on all media for the last 24 hours against the supporters of Jeremy Corbyn. The narrative is reinforced by promoting a celebrity “victim”, preferably female and blonde. Step forward J K Rowling the first time, and Stella Creasy now.

Here is a shocking video of the hate-filled mob which besieged Ms Creasy’s constituency office, with the result that her staff dare not go to work and she herself felt intimidated.

Terrifying, wasn’t it? The truth is this was an extremely polite and quiet bunch organised in fact by the local vicar Stephen Saxby, who writes in Red Pepper:

This week I took part in a vigil with a wide section of the local community. I am deeply saddened by the misinformation about the vigil which has circulated in the media, and grateful to Sue Wheat for correcting the misreporting of the vigil.

I am also surprised that some in the party appear to be overly influenced by irresponsible coverage in the media, such as the Mail’s description of the peaceful people on our vigil being called ‘Hard-left hate mobs’ and the Mirror stating ‘Vicars, imams and net trolls target MPs’.

I am shocked by Tom Watson’s statement on Radio 4 today that ‘any Labour members on that demo should be removed from the party’.

At the same time as I condemn intimidation of MPs or their staff, I reiterate that the vigil was not intimidation, and condemn those who seek to portray democratic, peaceful actions as such. This is also is a form of intimidation.

For my part, I shall not be intimidated into not speaking on issues about which I am passionate and alongside others within and beyond the Labour Party.

I refute the erroneous allegations about me and about our peaceful vigil, and look forward to continuing to support Stella Creasy as MP for Walthamstow, and the campaigns to elect Sadiq Khan as mayor and Jeremy Corbyn as prime minister.”

It is astonishing that Tom Watson says that anybody in that video should be expelled from the Labour Party, and that the entire mainstream media has described it as “intimidation”. There really is a genuine attempt to delegitimise even the concept of dissent from the neo-con war agenda.

In truth, we all know that social media abuse does exist to a certain extent, just as abuse exists in every other form of human communication. But the one thing we learnt for certain from the Scottish referendum campaign, is that the media will report constantly any abuse allegedly from the anti-establishment camp, but will ignore the at least equally bad and quite possibly much worse torrent of abuse from supporters of the other side of the argument. The absolutely false connection of social media aggression uniquely to anti-establishment politics is an organised media propaganda trick as morally disgusting as it is pernicious.

The object to delegitimise a political view – be it Scottish Independence or Corbynism – is taken further in the current example. There is a concomitant media campaign to portray as an affront to democracy the idea of MPs facing reselection by party members – to portray the idea that an MP should have a lifelong right to the party nomination as norm.

This is a complete inversion of truth. The idea that MPs should be subject to reselection by members as the candidate at the end of the term for which they were chosen, is obviously in reality the more democratic. Should an MP be deselected, they have the democratic option to stand as an independent if they truly believe the voters were electing them, and not the party.

A final word on Ms Creasy. She has belatedly come out and denied the false reports all over the media that demonstrators gathered outside her home – though anyone who thought the Porsche Cayenne driving, Oxbridge Ms Creasy lives in a terrace in Waltham is very naïve. She is a fanatic supporter of Trident missiles and of any bombing opportunity going, and is precisely the sort of MP everybody should be trying to get rid of. Here is Andrew Neil exposing her for a shallow careerist fool:

Presumably that ranks as intimidation and abuse.

A Turkish doctor is looking at 4 years imprisonment for comparing Turkish president Recep Tayyip to Gollum from the Lord of the Rings movies. Hmmm…Gollum is far more handsome than Erdogan.

Treble that sentence if he’d said it on live tv, Turkey has a intolerant regime, during his 12 years as president Erdogan has imprisoned 63 journalists. Erdogan has also sued multiple publications that portray him as anything other than a beacon of truth.

Not doubt Dave the rave Cameron would love to be able to shut up anyone who uttered a miniscule of dissent against him or his policies.

Amidst the claps and cheers of Tory MPs, Britain is at war again. A few months ago SNP MPs were castigated for clapping in the Commons chamber, but it seems that it’s fine to clap as long as you’re clapping bombing raids and war, as long as you’re clapping the militarism of the British state. In the British parliament you can applaud inhumanity and combat, but not a young MP’s humane and compassionate speech. Clapping is only wrong if you’re Scottish secessionists who want to rescue their country from the farcical charade of Westminster. Clap. Clap. Crap. Crap.

    Sixer,

World politics is a complex affair. It was probably a good idea by The Swedish and Norwegians to award the Nobel Peace Prize to President Obama before he had actually done anything…

Lets face it…I reckon the kill rate has gone down. Its much harder to kill vast numbers of people with remotely controlled drones – rather than Carpet Bombing with B52’s and Hundreds of Thousands of American Soldiers on The Ground.

But The Fat Lady hasn’t sung yet.

If you are going to be The President of the USA – don’t worry about what you may have done with a bottom or a pig’s face…just don’t have kids…You can probably, if you are courageous stand up to the threats against yourself and even your wife…but when they show you documentary video evidence in high definition of what they have already done do to other people’s children – and what makes you think yours are so different??

Evil Personified…even Satan wouldn’t do THAT.

These American Psychos in Control Already Have.

    You see the problem.

Turns out the wife the San Bernardino male shooter got on line from Saudi Arabia pledged allegiance to ISIS on line shortly before the shooting.

The most racist Israel-defender on this forum, who constantly attacks Islam, expressed his disapproval yesterday of my expressing disapproval of Wahhabism and Salafism. Said it was more of my anti-Westernism.

I guess he would now say (wrongly) that it is all of Islam that is to blame for the misdeeds of Wahhabism, Salafism, and ISIS.

After a whole article denying attacks on moderates, you then launch a very personal attack on a Labour MP. Laugh, I nearly puked.

    Mary,

You may well be correct, and I am naive. I always give people the benefit of the doubt, until what I believed about them is proved wrong. For some obscure reason – I have always liked Dutch People – and had a wonderful long weekend there with my wife and 10 year old daughter in the year 2000 – when my Son was in the USA with the local Scout Group organised by the local Methodist Church…(no we don’t go to the services – a bit of barn dancing very occasionally)

My 12 year old son came back from America – and told me – Americans are completely Insane – and Extremely Fat..It was as if I had sent my son to Nazi Germany in 1936.

But the Dutch were Brill..Amsterdam is Wonderful..we cycled everywhere – and saw everything..It was just so different to London – and just as nice as Dublin.

This was in the Year 2000 before any of this stuff kicked off on 9/11.

I still have family who live in the USA (New England) and met my Niece again last Sunday..she’s lovely.

The first thing she did when she moved to the USA was to learn and do everything she could in the art of self defence..She wasn’t a particularly “well” kid..She had bad Asthma..but she is as fit as fiddle now..and she has got her Black Belt in Karate.

She now reminds me a bit of Lara Croft to be honest. She is Really Nice – and organised her Mum’s 70th Birthday Party and Flew Back from America.

If when unobserved you lie down on your back on a bench, such a park bench without hand rails and then drop your head back so you can view the world upside down you may suddenly perceive how preposterous but wonderful everything is, how self important people appear not realising that if it were not for gravity they would be hurtling off into space. Everything is upside down. It never hurts to consider the opposite. You tell me its white I wonder if its black. You tell me 1*0=0 but I wonder who its not still 1. You may say I am being foolish, but just try looking upside down and no matter how strange the truth may be hopefully you may see it as something vividly alive. Even your opponent is walking on this earth upside down with the same slight grip on reality as you and your friends. One was successful the other was not. One in a god mask the other a devil. Even in defeat a beautiful performance. Assume you are being lied to but like them all the same.

Turkey sounds like a perfect candidate for EU membership, which I understand will be happening in the next few years.

    Press release immediate

    Case against anti-drone protestors collapses

All charges against 19 anti-drone protestors have been dropped, after the Crown Prosecution Service admitted there was no realistic prospect of conviction.

The 19 were arrested for protesting at UAV Engines Ltd, in Shenstone, Staffordshire, on 6 July 2015, one year after Israel’s attacks on Gaza in 2014.

UAV Engines Ltd is wholly owned by Elbit Systems, an Israeli company manufacturing military drones used to attack Gaza.

Speaking after the charges against her were dropped, Hilary Smith, said:
“The Crown Prosecution Service has finally conceded they had no case. Taxpayers’ money has been wasted on a police operation and prosecution, all based on a bogus injunction. We protested peacefully at a factory owned by this Israeli company involved in drone wars against Palestinians. It is Elbit who should be in the dock.”

Ryvka Barnard, Senior Military and Security Campaigner at War on Want, said: “It would have been a scandal for people to have been made criminals for protesting the manufacture of weapons used in war crimes. This is a victory for the right to protest.

“It doesn’t end here. As long as the UK continues its deadly arms trade with Israel, it remains complicit in crimes against the Palestinian people and the brutality of Israeli Apartheid. We will continue to fight for the rights of Palestinians.”

On 1 July, UAV Engines obtained an injunction to prevent any demonstration within 250 metres of the site entrance. On 27 October, the Birmingham High Court removed the injunction “ab initio”, with the Judge declaring that it “had never existed”, as the company had failed to disclose the history of peaceful protest at the site.

According to the United Nations, the war on Gaza in 2014 resulted in 2220 Palestinian deaths, including 551 children. http://reliefweb.int/sites/reliefweb.int/files/resources/annual_humanitarian_overview_2014_english_final.pdf

The Hermes 450 drone is known as the “workhorse” of the Israeli Defense Forces. It is powered by a UEL 80-AR-1010 engine, a model manufactured by UEL, based at Shenstone, near Lichfield. UEL is wholly owned by Elbit Systems. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/jan/09/armstrade-gaza

At the height of the Gaza war in 2014, 9 protestors occupied the roof of the Shenstone factory. The prosecution collapsed in February when the company refused to provide details of military export licences and investigations into its trade with Israel. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/outcry-as-cps-drops-trial-of-anti-drone-protesters-at-last-minute-10014839.html

One thing in favour of Stella Creasy. In her maiden speech in June 2010, she said she stood for the Palestinians.

    http://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2010-06-02c.532.0

Four more Palestinians have been killed by the IDF in retaliation for attacks today.

Since BiBi started winding up the Palestinians in September with rumours of Israel planning to relax the existing long-standing rules to strengthen his rights at Temple Mount, over 100 Palestinians and 19 Israelis have been killed. Many more have been injured.

    There can be no end.

In a democracy you are allowed to be rude about the politicians who rule you. Especially nasty ones like Creasy.

The key word is “democracy” and in the absence of which the lady concerned passes Scouting to be a job of a youth worker, that evidently is a “real job” qualifying her for a life time of granted political office in which she can get on with promoting her own interests and those of her sponsors all the while keeping up the pretenses of “they work for you” crap!!!!

The pond scum who are lording it over the rest of us and plying hotshot wartime leaders have forgotten that their skill set is not exactly bordering nuclear physics and brain surgery and any old Mrs. Miggins can do a better job than these cretins!

The sensationalism of “my staff” being harassed!! Gathering in front of my office!! and Intimidation, say it all these bastards have come to pupate into yet another tier of royalty and thereafter all criticisms are verboten and the electorate shall only speak when spoken to!

Oh, it was funny that HIGNFY opened with a row of soldiers falling joke about the “70,000”. Its a mainstream BBC1 joke already. 45 minutes took rather longer than one day before it became a joke.

You probably don’t want to know what I think…This is what I believe.

    1. People are much the same all over the world.
    2. Peat and Coal are Fossil Fuels – they come from Dead Plant Life on Earth.
    3. Oil is Not a Fossil Fuel. It comes from Deep Within The Earth and it is not going to run out.
    4. The Climate Always Changes and Always Has. Climate change has so far had nothing much to do with us humans on Earth.
    5. CO2 is Food For Plants..which is what us humans and animals eat. It is not a problem. CO2 is good…It warms up the planet a bit..CO2 is like a blanket over us.
    6. I Really Do Not Like Some of The People who work at The University of East Anglia (Climate Change (Hide The Decline) Department) Except My Wife’s Best Friend’s Ex..I think he is a Top Guy.
    7. HARRP and All These Contrails in The Sky – From Aircraft are largely Condensed Water..sure there is a bit of shit in them..personally – I have never flown a jet aircraft…but I think I could achieve the same result (My Dad was a Steam Engineer)
Chemtrails and HARRP are Bollocks..Unless it Is The USA Dropping Extremely Evil Chemicals Over Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos (My Son Has Been There to See The Evidence – 3 Months) and Now Depleted Uranium Over Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria and a lot of the rest of the World

    8. Free Energy Doesn’t Work..but we could do a lot better on this planet..if we Got Nuclear Fusion to work Peacefully to supply Energy – Rather Than Doing it in H-Bombs To Kill Everyone…

    9. Solar and Windpower are interesting..and potentially useful..well I use them for Fairy Lights…and The Solar Cooker is Probably the most useful invention yet (but in most cases (not all) they seem to me, to be energy sinks. I could be wrong though read and understand The Physics by a Very Old American Professor of Physics(I tend to go with these guys analyses – though they may be a bit wrong but can you do the Physics and Matha?) (The Solar Fraud: Why Solar Energy Won’t Run the World) by Professor Howard C Howden

Its a really easy read…sure it gets deeper towards the end..but doesn’t need much knowledge of physics and maths to read and understand it – mainly common sense.

    10. Whilst we have so far had an incredibly soft introduction to the UK Winter 2015-2016…it is only early December…It might get incredibly cold like it was in the winter of 1962-63 when I was a kid(my igloo lasted from Christmas To Easter)…So my wife thinks I am mad..I bought even more Rice, and Tinned Food Today..Already got the Coal and the camping gear…Just think about it…if Everything Fails…have you enough to survive for a few weeks if the snow is so deep that the lorries simply cannot deliver the food you buy every week from the supermarkets,,and there is no electricity no gas and no petrol either? This just in time philosophy is very cost efficient in terms of maximising profits and delivering really fresh food…but there is no contingency built into the working model if everything Seriously Fucks Up even when you half expect it.

Addendum When it gets very very cold and snowy..get your ice grips on your Walking Boots and go round your old neighbours’ homes – knock on the door and wait and knock again – and ask..if they would like anything from the shops like my wife and I do. They can’t get out..It’s even hard for you.

    Now he’s invaded Iraq

Turkish Troops Said To Invade Iraq Near Mosul

CNN Turkey, citing security forces officials, is reporting what appears to be yet another escalation in the middle east maelstrom:
*TURKISH TROOPS ENTER MOSUL REGION IN IRAQ, CNN-TURK REPORTS
*ABOUT 1,200 TURKISH TROOPS IN BASHIQA NEAR MOSUL: CNN-TURK

As Bloomberg reportrs, about 1,200 Turkish soldiers have entered the Bashiqa region near the Islamic State-held Iraqi city of Mosul, CNN-Turk reports citing Turkish security forces.
Anti-Islamic State coalition members were informed of the move, Sabah newspaper reports

The number has now been “revised”:

Of course the fact that Turkey has invaded Iraq isn’t the curious thing here. After all, Turkey technically invaded Iraq on September 8 and has launched ground incursions across the border on a handful of occasions over the past two decades or so. There was “Operation Sun” in 2008. And then there was “Operation Steel” in 1995. And “Operation Hammer” in 1997.” And “Operation Dawn.” And the aplty named “Operation Northern Iraq.”

You get the idea. The question is this: what are they doing near Mosul, an ISIS stronghold?

Here are some hints from Stratfor:

Tony – My opinion on those points.

    1. I agree (obviously there are differences but at heart we are all the same).
2 & 3. Disagree, there is not a never ending supply of coal, oil and gas. They will run out but i don’t think it will be for many years (centuries in fact).
4 & 5. Completely agree on Climate change, there are natural changes in average temperatures. Always have been since earths creation.
    6. I have no opinion on the people of East Anglia.
    7. Agree
8 & 9. Green energy is brilliant on paper but if we went totally green everything would fall to shit IMO.
    10. Errr i suppose it depends where you live, i fancy my chances to be honest.
