Dr David Halpin and David Kelly 192

Dr David Halpin, a redoubtable campaigner over the murder of Dr David Kelly, and a friend of this blog for over twenty years, has died. He will be missed.

His sister Mary was for many years an invaluable commenter here and occasional researcher for me. Unfortunately about ten years ago I banned her for comments which I considered anti-semitic. Three months ago David told me he was visiting her in a care home. I asked him to tell her on my behalf that she had been right, and I had been wrong.

Craig, many thanks for news of Mary; I learned so much from her and her research; she was so right about so much. Please send her my thanks and my very best wishes; I miss her contributions more than I can say.

  • Clark

May David Halpin rest in peace. As best I remember, he was a trauma surgeon and he volunteered in Palestine many times. I think he commented here occasionally, but I didn’t feel I knew him like I did Mary.

I also banned Mary for a time when I was moderating here. If you can, please pass on my apology too.

        • Brianfujisan

I’ll Never Forget going to Doune The Rabbit Hole Fest…Knackered to death..After putting tent up in hot weather ..Craving a Cold Pint…And the Instant I step foot on site ” oh Brian, I’m going out Sound Checking..Come with me’ Brian looks Longingly at Bar .. Clark won Lol..Love you Clark

      • Clark

And I learned from you too, Brian. That’s what many of us come here for, to learn; from Craig, and from each other.

Of course others come to spread deception, to sow doubt, to muddy the waters, or if all those fail or are beyond their skill, merely to disrupt, by casting aspersions, imputing motives, or just calling people names and being nasty, in the hope of provoking a slanging match so that heat may dilute the light. Mary was the most frequent target for such trolls.

    • DunGroanin

It’s been a while since I have commented here Clark.

You are one of the reasons for that.

So please spare me and others your crocodile tears, when you say learnt from Dr Harpin, yet have censored many comments and ganged up with socks, to disparage many who expressed disbelief in the fake Covid narrative and the killer vaccines.

Dr Harpin clearly states his position in the short video about Covid.

Simple question Clark. Do you agree with him. Well?

      Yes or No?

I wonder how long this post will stay up

      I stand with Craig Murray.

        • DunGroanin

Lol. I’m not here to get into a mud wrestle with your gang. So last post.

          Same question to you glenn

“Dr Harpin clearly states his position in the short video about Covid.

Do you agree with him. Well?

          Yes or No?”

          • glenn_nl

LOL. If you call actually discussing your own unprompted assertions “mud wrestling”, and announce in advance “last post”, what’s the point of granting you any answer, or wasting time watching a video? Well?

(I don’t do “duelling videos”, btw. A most unproductive use of time.)

Seems you’re as shy about your own assertions as shy climate change denialists!

      • Clark

DunGroanin, will you ever stop groanin? You could try spelling David Halpin’s surname correctly while you’re at it.

I haven’t bothered watching any of his vids about covid, but in the vid Craig embedded he said its danger had been exaggerated. Some people exaggerated it, some underestimated it; so what? He was an orthopaedic surgeon; why should I take special notice of his opinion about covid when viral infections weren’t his field? I’ll listen to him about Palestine because he volunteered and worked there over and over. Which as far as I know is far more than can be said for you. Stop feeling so sorry for yourself; I haven’t moderated here since well before covid, so I deleted nothing of yours.

The people who really know about covid say it damages our brains; they have video of it killing brain cells – all a conspiracy, I’m sure you’ll say. It decreases intelligence and empathy, and by damaging executive function it increases impulsiveness. The massive deterioration in political affairs since EcoHealth Alliance of New York blessed us with SARS-CoV-2 seems highly consistent with this, so I get vaccinated when seems appropriate. Yes I know the vaccines have dangers, it’s a shit choice, I’ve met two people who suffered as a result of getting vaccinated, but I know countless people damaged by covid too. I opposed compulsory vaccination or vaccine passports, and Craig supported vaccination, so my position is fairly close to his.

Sorry my answer isn’t yes or no; the world tends to be a bit more complicated than that. If yes or no is all you can handle these days, maybe you should have got vaccinated.

        • DunGroanin

I read that as ‘not yes’.

You don’t agree with dr halpin.

          Thanks for being honest.

I have responded to glenn and you on the thread he pointed to.

Take it there if you want.

          • glenn_nl

What’s the point? We did “take it there” to the forums, and you almost immediately ran off!

After your initial Gish-gallop of unsupported assertions, accusations, insults and boasting, you then refused to discuss any of it using very silly excuses – and now you’ve gone all shy and ran away!

I’m still quite happy to politely discuss the points you made, if your bashfullness ever subsides… 😃

  • David Warriston

Without wishing to rake over the coals, would it be possible to summarise how this disagreement on anti-semitism came about?
I suspect many of us have shifted or hardened our position on the Israeli state these last three years.

  • Mod B

Indeed, ‘Mary’ (aka ‘Sharp Ears’) was a valued commenter here. She was banned temporarily on several occasions – but only for a short spell on the naughty step, from which she was always allowed to return. She had been let off the leash completely by the time she last posted here. She was open about her health issues, and stopped contributing of her own volition.

  • Townsman

The plight of Palestine was one of the issues important to Dr Halpin.

It is becoming clear that the genocide in Palestine has gone beyond the point of no return. We cannot save Palestine now; Israel, its government and (I regret to say) the majority of its people set out with the clear intent of eliminating Palestinian culture, and most of its people, from Palestine.
They succeeded because politicians, the mass media, the judiciary, and the security services in the USA and Britain either looked the other way, or actively helped them.
Palestine and its people are beyond help now.
But what we should try to do is bring the perpetrators within the UK’s jurisdiction to justice. It will not be easy, but the most horrific crime of our century so far should not be allowed to be airbrushed out of history.

    • zoot

That is what they are intent on doing, and are succeeding.

Suppression of British participation reached a different level when Burnham appointed John Healey as Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Healey as Defence Secretary was up to his neck in the Gaza slaughter, yet there was not a peep about that when Burnham announced his elevation. Not from the BBC, C4 News, Guardian, Novara or the rightwing press. Nor from any of Labour’s political opponents, including even Polanski, Corbyn and Sultana. Healey was portrayed as a completely uncontroversial appointment with an admirable record in his previous role.

This is how their airbrushing works in practice.

    • Clark

      – “Palestine and its people are beyond help now.”

I do not accept this. I reject it. When I fly the Palestinian flag, in my home town and on my travels, Palestinians come and talk to me. Their culture is more than still alive; it is vibrant. In the Palestinian and Lebanese cafes in London, Palestinian culture thrives.

And in Palestine, though Israel continues inflicting genocide, Palestinians culture remains irrepressible while Israel looks increasingly desperate. It is a sign of fear and weakness, not strength, to deploy a massively powerful and advanced military just to murder children who fly kites:

    • NickB

      >Palestine and its people are beyond help now.
I don’t think we have any right to say this while there are sill tens of millions of Palestinians alive and kicking. Literally giving up on them and accepting that their genocide, by our government in cohoots with the others, continues. What are you saying?!

  • Habbabkuk's Spokesman

Habbabkuk has asked me to inform readers that he too might have been wrong about Mary/Sharp Ears. At least partly.

    —
[ Mod: This (slightly barbed) apology was discovered in the blog trashlist, along with 3 closely following variants which tried unsuccessfully to evade the anti-Habbabkuk screening algorithm. It was restored in sympathy with Mary and her family. ]

    This may be secondary:

But with above apology to Mary Craig has corrected himself on a rather serious political issue over which he most likely has spent many hours thinking and struggling beforehand not for the first time.

I am not sure I have witnessed such honesty and integrity in today´s online blogging space by any other host in this consequential manner.

    Thank you for this.

    • Brian Red

The political issue being that unspecified statements were originally thought to be anti-Semitic but then were thought not to be?
      Got any more details?
I like and respect Mary and hope things are going as well as possible for her in the care home.

  • Goose

Moderation is a difficult one, no doubt complicated by the hysteria around antisemitism at the time. Accusations of which were and still are used to distract attention from obvious war crimes, by the self-styled “Jewish State”. There’s also now the overreaching OSA to contend with. On which, any hope that Burnham would take a different path – a socially liberal approach – has been quickly dashed; he’s already cowardly dancing to a tune dictated by the right-wing press and BBC, like the Blairite reactionary ‘yes man’ he is, and always was. He has the saddest trait or quality you can find in any politician : that constant desire to be liked. Since the left have no voice in this country, that means he’ll be a slave of the right. We’ve seen it on Ukraine and with the press obsession with increasing the defence budget & slashing welfare, punching the most downtrodden in society.

The signs were all there with Burnham, from his time as mayor. He ran on a promise of delivering affordable housing, but instead handed hundreds of millions to a property developer, who built hardly any and has since moved to Monaco ……

“Andy Burnham has been accused of loaning hundreds of millions of pounds to the developer amid claims his office holds a ‘cosy relationship’ with its owner, Daren Whitaker.

His firm has received £615m from the Greater Manchester Housing Investment Loans Fund (GMHILF). That’s around half of the total lending from the fund set up in 2015 to finance housing projects.

Aubery Weis, a rival property mogul who owns land next to Renaker’s tallest towers, is now suing Mr Burnham’s office over two loans worth £120m, claiming the interest rates agreed were too low, creating an ‘unlevel playing field’.”

Today’s BBC interview from No.10, on early release, was pure Telegraph, Times; Sun, Mail agenda. If prison places are in such short supply, why is he keeping the ultra-reactionary, Reform wannabe, Mahmood in place? And why didn’t the BBC bring up a certain proscription order that’s seen hundreds of arrests and people being jailed for what are essentially free speech / opinion offences?

On the subject of moderation, I’m sure we can all agree, what an absolute shitshow Musk’s ‘X’ has become, in terms of suppressing leftist and anti-war opinion via algorithmic manipulation. Jonathan Cook highlighted how his reach has been completely clobbered on X. Musk’s ownership of ‘X’ started promisingly, with the Twitter files; whereby he gave full access to journalists, including Matt Taibbi, who revealed how the ‘Russian bot’ claims, when investigated by Twitter/X’s previous owners, were in fact mostly ordinary western citizens, whose opinions US authorities simply didn’t like. Western intel agencies and their cutouts, likely hyped up the threat of Russian meddling to extract more funding.from gullible politicians.

      Reading this(link) by David Miller : https://trackingpower.substack.com/p/the-spy-unit-that-runs-britains-secret?r=q3lce&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

….One could almost feel sorry for any new Prime Minister. How would you, that is, assuming you were inclined to, disentangle the UK from this FCDO-multi-agency- military, decade plus effort to damage Russia? No wonder spooks are prone to delusions of grandeur, heck that may even be a recruitment requirement : Likely to develop a ‘God complex’? Years of sycophancy loops and echo chambers reinforce such a belief in the righteousness of the mission mean it’d probably be dangerous for any politician to even try challenging policy.

        Just watched this last night

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9ibtbHQdkk

According to David, the blimpish crazies of the Brit Deep State are proposing Conscription: it’s a ” laugh or cry ” scenario. Think I’ll choose the former.

Imagine trying to cajole the cream of British Manhood away from Match of the Day to go and fight #Those Evil Russkovites in the Land of Golden Toilets. HA! Maybe they could frame it as an Away Game, y’know like Evil Russia United v Albion Wanderers in a crucial World End Times Cup qualifying match.

        • Goose

          It’s ever been thus…

In 1982, a secret UK Home Office war game named Exercise Regenerate included a short-lived proposal to recruit psychopaths to maintain law and order following a devastating nuclear attack.

          The context of the proposal

The exercise simulated a hypothetical World War III scenario where 300 megatons of nuclear bombs were detonated over Britain in a 16-hour window, killing millions and crippling infrastructure. Anticipating that the police would be entirely overwhelmed assisting radiation victims and dealing with civil unrest, Jane Hogg, a scientific officer within the Home Office, authored the suggestion.

          Why Psychopaths Were Considered

Hogg argued that the estimated 1% of the population who are psychopaths would be an “exceptionally valuable resource” in the immediate aftermath of a nuclear holocaust. Her reasoning included the following points:

          • Crisis Resilience: They were expected to show zero psychological trauma or shock in communities suffering the worst losses
          • Cold Logic: Hogg noted they are often highly intelligent and logical, making them efficient decision-makers when regular society breaks down.
          • Absence of Emotion: Because they lack empathy, a moral code, and feelings for others, they could execute harsh, utilitarian orders without hesitation.
          • Post-Strike Utility: Hogg noted that while the only option for psychopaths “pre-strike” was containment, authorities would find it highly advantageous to recruit them “post-strike”. She even suggested bringing back the death penalty for post-attack offenders.

          • Goose

Do MI6 and the CIA recruit, not all, obviously, but at least some individuals on the same criteria?

Seems likely they would, as all her valued traits(bullet pointed), would be equally valuable in those posted to dangerous parts of the world. Such individuals, if promoted, could be very dangerous. Wonder if initial psychological evaluations are ever reviewed?

          • Robert Hughes

T’would appear it’s psychopaths that already fill all the Security Services and Political Class positions

          • glenn_nl

They’re recruited all the time to fill the positions of CEO and surgeons, so why not?

        • Republicofscotland

Heard on the radio today that Trump’s war on Iran has cost the average person £2,500 pounds a year extra in energy costs, it was also noted on LBC radio that 30% of your current energy bills are levies some for research others for paying for energy that other folk have used but not paid for.

One woman’s bill she has a oil tank outside her home and it used to cost £200 quid to fill it up – now it costs £800 quid for the same amount of heating oil.

          • glenn_nl

The point about heating oil is definitely true – a mate was recently shocked by the hike in his bill (going from something like £300 to nearly £1500).

He’d like to put up solar panels, but lives in a listed building, so is not allowed to change anything.

          • Republicofscotland

Maybe he can put up the new plug-in ones – say out the back where they won’t be seen

          • glenn_nl

Maybe that’s a good idea, RoS – they can be seen, but any structural alterations are strictly frowned upon.

The government approval of these temporary, portable “balcony panels” is a really good move.

It beats me why small scale solar generation isn’t being massively encouraged by the government.

          • Clark

Eh? Heating oil has gone up, but not a factor of four or five as in the figures above. It did get very cheap in 2020, and very expensive from March to May this year. Tell your friends to shop around; they might be getting ripped off. Prices over the past four years can be found at the link below. Select a country of the so-called UK from the menu at the top:

            https://www.boilerjuice.com/heating-oil-prices-england/

          • Republicofscotland

            Clark.

Its called profiteering, just wander around any supermarket and look at the prices and you’ll see profiteering at work, businesses are out to make as much money as possible, which usually means charging what they think they can get away with charging the public.

          • Brian Red

@Glenn – Do you know whether the govt intends to allow plug-in solar panels that enable you to run stuff that’s unconnected to the mains, on a separate circuit, e.g. with your mains supply switched off?

Last I heard, most people who had solar panels had to have them so that they cut out when the mains goes off. Which is a bit like being allowed to make your own sandwiches so long as you keep paying for a table at the local restaurant and stop being able to make your sandwiches whenever the restaurant is shut for a while.

          • Clark

RoS, there is indeed profiteering. And if a buyer has stuck with the same company for years, the company might feel confident in charging them over the odds thinking they won’t check prices elsewhere. Or your friend might have signed into a supply contract; I have oil fired central heating and the suppliers are always trying to rope me into a contract “to pay monthly to help you spread the cost, and we’ll keep your tank topped up for you automatically!” – I never fell for that one.

Of course if you’re very rich your investment portfolio probably includes tens of thousands of pounds worth of oil, and the increase in its price will be earning you hundreds of times more than the increase in your fuel costs, so you’ll be cheering on the price rises.

“The Iran economic shock is coming. How to protect yourself” – Gary Stevenson

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi265I48MdI&t=1164s

Gary is very rich, and my link takes you to the part where he explains how the crisis is making him even richer, but do watch the whole video. War, financial crisis, pandemic; any kind of crisis makes the rich richer and governments poorer; it’s built into the neoliberal economic system, it’s even built into the fake economic theories that politicians use for decision-making and media use when “informing” us. We need to understand this to break its power.

          • glenn_nl

BR:: I’ve not heard anything about using solar generated panels on a separate circuit being disallowed when the mains is off. Sounds rather implausible, to be honest – many applications use stand-alone solar without being connected (or having anything to do with) the mains.

Having had solar panels put up at my gaff last year (which also feeds back into the grid), there is no requirement that they stop functioning if the grid goes down. In fact, it was a selling point that we could probably manage perfectly well without a grid at all for some time, as it has battery backup.

I’ll keep a ear out for what you’re saying, though.

          • Clark

When mains power fails, customers’ own generation must disconnect from the mains. If it didn’t, the engineers wouldn’t be able to fix the failure because the cables would become live due to customers’ own generators. Electricity can flow both ways, remember; it cares nothing about whether you’re a “supplier” or a “customer”.

Disconnection is required also because the customer’s generator would get overloaded by trying to power all the other houses on the same side of the failure point.

This all applies whether the “generator” is powered by an internal combustion engine, a battery, a wind turbine or solar panels. They’re all generators in the sense I’m using above.

I expect what Brian Red is referring to are early solar rigs that had no automatic isolator, so if the grid failed they had to shut down.

          • Bayard

“Its called profiteering, just wander around any supermarket and look at the prices and you’ll see profiteering at work, businesses are out to make as much money as possible, which usually means charging what they think they can get away with charging the public.”

Well, actually, heating oil is one of the only energy sources where there is very little profiteering. Unlike road fuel, which exhibits the “rocket and feather” effect (prices go up like a rocket, but come down like a feather), heating oil tracks the price of crude oil very closely. That is not to say that there isn’t a lot of profiteering by the oil companies that deal in crude oil, of course.

          • Brian Red

@Glenn – I don’t much about it but when the grid goes down and this causes an automatic cutout of solar, I think this is called “anti-islanding”. It’s definitely a thing. Dunno how widespread it is. Quite possibly it’s pushed onto many customers without their knowing it when they get sold on “you can sell energy back to the grid”.

        • Goose

The obsession over spending 3% of GDP on defence by 2030, as per the atrocious Trump’s ultimatum, is presented as a military necessary, “to keep us safe”- it’s the most disingenuous nonsense, isn’t it. There is no such thing as guaranteed safety, safety is relative to the jeopardy our leaders and foreign policy, put us in. Some would argue, being the main belligerent, alongside the US, is the thing that puts us in the crosshairs to begin with. Do the populations of the more dovish, Spain or Italy, feel at imminent risk from Russia? I’d wager not.

The whole idea 2.7%, 2.8% or 2.9% …we’re in grave danger, yet at “3” the magic number for safety is reached, is absurd. In recent times, the US set a ridiculous example; for a decade or more, they were outspending the rest of the world’s combined total for defence by 10x. China invested in infrastructure, while the US squandered it on any wild boondoggle the MIC desired.

      • Pyewacket

Goose, my guess, fwiw, is that Burn’em was well appraised by the Spookeries and the Lobby of the Little Hats even before the Ashton bi-election to fully make sure that he would toe the line with regards their aims and objectives when appointed PM. It doesn’t look to me that he suffered any “crisis of conscience”. Rather; it’s questionable whether he actually has one.

    • Brian Red

“Manchesterism” says it all – politics based on close connections with the “night-time economy” and property developers.

Got to add too that those who manage Andy Burnham’s image have knowingly copied certain aspects of Donald Trump’s. Feeling kinda long-term miserable? The future begins now! Andy will solve it all. He’s like a shot in the arm.

      • Goose

        Brian Red

I see Starmer is standing down as an MP – just as many here predicted : time for his ‘big money’ payoff – watch where he goes to get his fat salary reward for being an establishment ‘take down the left’ democracy corrupting, placeman PM. Maybe NATO, maybe a US investment bank; some made-up two-days per week, advisory role perhaps? Maybe multimillions for some self-aggrandising memoir that nobody will want to read.

It really is that cynical. Quite how those on the left & unions can’t see they are being taken for a ride by the establishment, is a mystery?

        • Goose

When the press get bored with shilling for Burnham, they’ll dig into his oh-so-cosy relationship with Daren Whitaker – Founder and chairman of Renaker Group, a major Manchester-based skyscraper and residential property developer. He’s now based in Monaco according to reports, presumably for tax purposes?

I can’t stand Reform politically. But it is weird, how select journalists somehow obtained confidential financial information. Nigel Farage and Richard Tice are suing the National Crime Agency (NCA) over the alleged leaking of said confidential financial information.

          • Bayard

Exactly, no-one gets to the position Burnham, Farage and Starmer are or were in without there being a skeleton in their closet to keep them on message. Occasionally, like Farage, with his finances, and Starmer, with his Ukranians, they need a little reminder. I dare say Burnham will need a little nudge, sooner or later, when he starts getting the idea that he’s in charge.

Not really. X is a private company. It is not a public service. Almost nothing on the internet is a public service. This blog isn’t, nor is the organisation that hosts it. As a private company, they can include or exclude who they like as their customers. If you don’t like it, you are free to go elsewhere. Freedom of speech means just that, freedom to speak your mind. It does not mean and it never has meant, freedom to be able to publish your views using someone else’s organisation, regardless of whether that someone else wants you to or not.

“If the controllers of Tesco want to restrict access to their stores to customers who [are carrying smartphones | are wearing smartwatches | have had smart buttplugs fitted | have been microchipped], you are free not to shop at Tesco. There’s even a big helpy bin in the carpark for the disposal of emaciated bodies.”

You are definitely right that Elon Musk’s micromessaging offering is not a public service, but it has nothing to do with freedom worthy of the name either.

Sorry for the loss of your friend, Craig.

He was undoubtedly correct about Dr Kelly – suggest anyone not familiar with the case read “An Inconvenient Death: How the Establishment Covered Up the David Kelly Affair”

Sorry also to hear of Mary. She was a tireless campaigner, and subjected to vicious bullying by former contributors to this blog (although in fairness, she was pretty uncompromising). A shame there doesn’t appear to be a way of getting a message of good wishes to her.

They must have come from quite a family.

Craig treated Mary like dirt – she wasn’t the only one. You’re a piece of garbage with a large number of skeletons in your closet.

          • Clark

Well that’s a novel way of trolling, Stevie Boy. You’d be on my watch list if I hadn’t resigned 😀

Mary was one of the community here, highly respected; Craig said as much to me. Craig right ticked me off when I suspended her comments and had me reinstate them immediately. Gawd knows what Jenny’s on about; not a username I remember seeing before.

Looks like Craig has started a bit of a storm on ‘X’, with his view on the Golders Green ambulance arson being a possible false flag. Of course, we don’t know, who ‘recruited’ these idiots. But it’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibility. I’d say, if anything, ‘highly likely some intel outfit was involved.

The context : a country, Israel, under enormous international criticism and scrutiny over its conduct in Gaza and the West Bank, facing large, weekly protests in the UK. Any intel agency worth its salt in such a scenario, facing such a tide of negativity, would seek to divert western attention and the news cycle, back to ‘antisemitism’, presenting people of their faith, as victims.

The man who confronted Al Jazeera journalists at the scene, was a Met Police special constable. He was seen calling one of the team “you donkey, you dog” in Arabic : https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9d45ejxz5qo

    • Heinrich

What happened to that special constable in the end? The police authorities were supposed to be “investigating” the affair, but of course no one’s heard anything since…..

And by the way, how come that a British Jew speaks Arabic….?

    • Republicofscotland

A definite false flag event, add to which the Westminster government – used taxpayers cash to replace the ambulances which were apparently past their sell by date.

Of course the security services blamed Iran, the same lying b*stards came up with the Russia blew-up the NordStream pipelines nonsense.

Anyone with half a brain would stop and think to themselves how does Iran benefit from blowing-up four old ambulances – no it was a false-flag event to replace the ambulances with new ones at the taxpayers expense -whilst the Zio-Media and the security services used the false flag to preach against anti-Semitism and denounce Iran in the process.

          • Goose

They apparently serve everyone in that area. Although, imagine having an Arabic surname and phoning them requesting their services… Some locals alleged online , that the contact telephone numbers were only published in synagogues.

I don’t get how they were officially approved and integrated? Would the far larger Muslim and Hindu communities be granted similar services? Can you imagine the Tory press response, decrying how divisive it all is, were that the case.

          • Goose

Still can’t get over the widespread use of ‘Andy ‘ instead of Andrew for a Prime Minister. It’s weird if you think about it, imagine a PM ‘Mick’ or ‘Gaz’ – far too informal. His full name is Andrew Murray Burnham.

Burnham, made the now obligatory promise, “I’ll tackle the scourge of antisemitism”, to MPs in parliament, to nods and ‘hear, hears’. But how much genuine ‘antisemitism is there in the UK, using a strict definition? I’d venture very little.
Is there a dislike of Israel? Absolutely. And is there an intense dislike of those(many of whom are of the Jewish faith, including Rabbis) defending Israel’s actions? Absolutely. Is that antisemitism? Absolutely not! And it’s intellectually lazy and dishonest for politicians to mislabel like that.

          • Robert Hughes

            @ Goose

‘ Still can’t get over the widespread use of ‘Andy ‘ instead of Andrew for a Prime Minister. ‘. I was thinking the same, G.

I suppose he’s latest of the now common attempt to make our * leaders * ( ie the malleable ciphers deemed acceptable by their Zionist & Corporate overseers ) appear ‘ ordinary guys/guyesses ‘, like ” straight kinda guy ” Tony ( Bleuch ) ; call me Dave ” ( Camembert ); Alexander The Grating Boris De Piffle ( Jonestown ); ” Maggie ” ( Thatched-Roof ) or fag-puffing-ale-swilling City of London Geezer Nouveau ” Nige ” ( Farago ) and the rest of the misanthropic Oxbridge political trash that STILL dominates UK – specifically, English, Political Caste Elite. Aye, I know Bleuch was born in Scotland ( apologies! ) but he has never evinced anything identifiably Scottish, eg from his background, schooling, manner, accent or even the vaguest interest in his country of birth – other than to steal a large chunk of ( formerly ) Scottish seas and to * grant * Devolution whilst saddling Holyrood with the * genetically * modified D’Hondt electoral bollocks: done with the express intent of preventing an SNP overall majority: despite which, Alex Salmond’s SNP still managed to do so; they won’t let THAT happen again. Ironically, they needn’t have bothered with that bit of legerdemain, the SNP now represent as much of a threat to the * Union * as a pot of lumpy porridge.

” Andy ” has an advantage in this cosplay with his Northern accent; which does nothing to disguise the fact that he’s every bit as much of a Elite/Power Pandering C*** as his predecessors. In fact, on present form, may even exceed them in worthlessness. Hard as that is to imagine.

          • Bayard

“I suppose he’s latest of the now common attempt to make our * leaders * ( ie the malleable ciphers deemed acceptable by their Zionist & Corporate overseers ) appear ‘ ordinary guys/guyesses ”

However, it is noticeable that the use of the first name or nickname has only really stuck with a PM where they were really hated by a large section of the population. We all know who Maggie and Boris were, but even Blair was seldom referred to as Tony, May and Truss were not referred to as Theresa or Liz and Cameron was was known by his surname almost exclusively, despite his “Call me Dave” plea.

          • Robert Hughes

@ Bayard. Yeah, I suppose what yr saying is accurate; though it wasn’t exclusively people who hated, eg Thatcher & Johnson that referred to them by their first names.

One of ( many ) things that appalled me when nasty buffoon Johnson was en route to #10 and during the Brexit Campaign was seeing even Working Class Scots ( that weird, thankfully minor, W.C Jock Tory-Supporting % ) refer to him by his first name; as if he was their mate, just and ordinary guy like them and might turn-up at their local pub for a pint wae ra bhoys, HA HA!, eg ” Boris ” this ” Boris ” that ” Boris is pure dead brilliant ” Aye, ” Boris ” is taking back control ” HA x 1K.

Oh and regarding that latter, whatever happened to that control * we * were supposed to be taking back; anyone ever see it, did it ever make it across the Channel? Or did it evaporate upon contact with Post Brexit reality – just like those marvellous Trade Deals confected by Big Business – Little England snake oil salesmen?

Not that I give a fluck about being part of the EU; we’re well out of that madhouse.

Except, of course, we’re not really out of it in any significant sense, eg the UK/EU shared fever-dream of winning the Proxy War. And we can be sure, given the chance, Labour/Green/LibDem/SNP would herd us all right back to and under the ( mis ) management of the Vonda die ( wannabe ) Walküre & her partner in dumbfuckery, Gaga Truss-Kallas

Folie a deux on hitherto unplumbed degrees of potential lethality

          • Bayard

“Oh and regarding that latter, whatever happened to that control * we * were supposed to be taking back; anyone ever see it, did it ever make it across the Channel?”

Oh, we took back control, we did, but the “we” in that sentence was not the British people and never was. Who TF did anyone think Boris was referring to when he said “we”? Of course we are still in on the proxy war, it is, and always was, our war (all uses of the second person plural in this comment refer to the same group of people).

  • Allan Howard

It just occurred to me yesterday for the first time that I had never read beyond the first paragraph of this article about the BoD, reposted by JVL in January 2020, and the reason why is because I was completely focused on the massive big black lie/smear van der Zyl disseminated about Jeremy Corbyn in an interview with a right-wing Israel news station, which I have posted about on a number of occasions on different websites and blogs during the last five/six years, including on here I would imagine. Here’s the nazty falsehood van der Zyl dupes and deceives tens – quite possibly hundreds – of thousands of Jewish listeners with, and then a very interesting stat I came across in the process of reading the rest of the article yesterday:

Exposé: Who are the Board of Deputies of British Jews?

The video you’re watching in this post is from August 2018 and it’s of Marie Sarah van der Zyl, the current and 48th President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. She’s being interviewed by i24News – a right wing Israeli news channel. In the interview, Van der Zyl claims, repeatedly, that Jeremy Corbyn had been “spending more and more time with terrorist and extremists” and “with people who threaten the security of Britain”. She seconded one of the presenter’s outbursts that supporters of Jeremy Corbyn are “a cult” and said that “Jeremy Corbyn had declared war on the Jews at home”. According to Van der Zyl, Jeremy Corbyn’s “hatred of Israel and Zionism runs so deep” and “he cannot separate that from anti-Semitism”…..

Yep, she, like so many zionists, is an evil cnut. Anyway, here’s the stat:

Josh Dell… goes on to cite a poll undertaken in 2015 by City University London (commissioned by Yachad), that found that 68% of British Jews felt a “sense of despair” every time settlement expansion in Israel was announced.

As we are well aware, the PTB and their propaganda machine can completely concoct and deceminate a false reality, in this particular case that the BoD represents ALL Jews in the UK. A bit further on in the article it says the following:

In a response to the BoD’s recent demands that the Labour leadership candidates must agree to sign up to their 10 ‘pledges’, Jewish Voice for Labour (JVL) have responded by advising the candidates that the BoD have no right to claim to speak for the British “Jewish Community”, especially given that Charedi Jews (approx 20% of the British Jewish population) do not recognise their authority. They also point out that they can’t claim to represent the 50% of all British Jews who happen to be secular either.

Well *I* have had many good Jewish friends over the years, all of whom were non-practising, and so my own experience seems to fit with that figure. And the 68% figure in the poll more-or-less matches the 20% figure for Chardi Jews plus the 50% figure for secular Jews. In other words, the BoD represents about one-third of British Jews.

NB The following is from the wikipedia entry re i24 News:

The channel went live on 17 July 2013. Melloul stated that it would battle prejudice and ignorance about Israel with “facts and diversity”….

In early 2017, the channel paired up with the US to expand their channel. By 2018, the company had studios in Tel Aviv, Paris, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles….

My god, Max Blumenthal is just an endless mine of information! Max quite possibly positioned it deliberately, but foremost on his bookshelf just behind him was a book entitled Provoked (and I guessed what it must be about), and so I checked it out on Amazon, along with the mainly 5-star reviews (and two 1-star ‘reviews’ calling it Russian propaganda!), and then bought a Kindle edition copy. And on looking through the chapter headings, I see the author, Scott Horton, covers the Salisbury poisonings, so-called. The full title is Provoked: How Washington Started the New Cold War with Russia and the Catastrophe in Ukraine.

Anyway, here’s a link to the Judge Napolitano interview with Max, which is well worth checking out:

The US – Venezuela deal :

Venezuela has granted North American Blue Energy Partners 100-year concessions for 17 oil fields.

The estimated total value of the oil will be $6 trillion

Venezuela will receive only $200 billion.

Even if Craig is right and Venezuela and Delcy Rodriguez think they are playing some crafty game, ‘waiting Triump out’ as he put it, signing any lopsided deal like this, is idiotic. If Trump and his party gets that richly deserved thumping in November’s elections, Trump won’t be in any position to launch military strikes on Venezuela for non-compliance with his extortion. After singing Delcy’s praises and the fiasco that is Iran, he’d have difficulty launching a war today. Even the American people, who are depressingly, far too submissive in acceptance of of Trump’s hawkish turn and outrageous gangster-esque behaviour. They would surely finally wake up and protest such a great evil?

        • Goose

Craig said in his Galloway interview, the Democrats probably offer little by way of respite for Venezuela. As he stated, they stuck with the G.W. Bush oil revenues deal, that Iraq was forced to agree to, just to access its own oil revenues.
Obama’s message of ‘hope and change’ wasn’t in any way fulfilled in his two-terms. And the Biden admin didn’t herald a different policy either vis-à-vis Israel. In fact, Biden was totally impassive over Gaza’s destruction and if anything facilitated it, providing excuses and bombs. The Democrats didn’t even revisit first term Trump’s unilateral decision to recognise Israel’s illegitimate claim to the Golan Heights, and Morocco’s claim to 80% of the Western Sahara; a deal brokered by son-in-law, Jared Kushner, after Morocco normalized diplomatic and economic relations with Israel on December 22, 2020, as part of the U.S.-brokered Abraham Accords.

Basically, the Democrats let any and all corruption stand, if it is seen as in any way beneficial to the U.S. or Israel.

          • Goose

This is what is so hypocritical about those criticising any potential U.S.recognition of Russian control of Crimea and the Donbas. Where were those who are objecting, when it was the Golan Heights and Morocco demanding, and getting, U.S. recognition of the Western Sahara?

The Biden administration effectively maintained the U.S. Recognition of Moroccan Sovereignty over Western Sahara.

And the hypocritical UK swung behind the U.S. position : UK swings behind Morocco’s autonomy proposal for Western Sahara : https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jun/01/uk-swings-behind-moroccos-autonomy-proposal-for-western-sahara

          • Robert Hughes

‘ Basically, the Democrats let any and all corruption stand, if it is seen as in any way beneficial to the U.S. or Israel.’

Indeed: Chris Hedges says the same, vis-a-vis the equally corrupted Democrats. The dread effect of the Uniparty; exactly the same in the U.K.

Any sign of Burnham acting on his ” we didn’t everything right ( re * Gaza *) faux-contrition? Nah, don’t think so. That’s been rapidly memory-holed. Passovered.

Ah well, not to worry, still in with a good chance of winning the Proxy War Cup : everything to play for. Gotta get some silverware in the * cabinet * before the end of the season. Maybe even take his side into the Euros next year, hopefully.

            Fingers crossed, eyes closed, ears bunged-up, boots-on-the-ground & pie-n-the-sky. C’mon Anderland!

“Even if Craig is right and Venezuela and Delcy Rodriguez think they are playing some crafty game, ‘waiting Triump out’ as he put it, signing any lopsided deal like this, is idiotic.”

What were their options? You say ” If Trump and his party gets that richly deserved thumping in November’s elections, Trump won’t be in any position to launch military strikes on Venezuela for non-compliance with his extortion.”, but there’s that word “if” at the beginning of the sentence. It hasn’t happen yet and it may not happen. Meanwhile, the gun is still at Delcy’s head. A sensible person would wait until the gun was pointed elsewhere and preferably unloaded before refusing to do what the gunman says. Less of the reckless courage of the non-combatant, please.

“British children were taught basic military skills in preference to languages.”

You mean like joining the Boy Scouts or the Cadet Corps? How many languages does the average British school leaver speak anyway?

Putting that doesn’t magically make it the truth.

      • David Warriston

I have lived in Moscow for several years and can confirm suspicions that Rosenberg’s accounts of life here are often inaccurate. His recent communiques regarding mobile phone blackouts were highly exaggerated. I am aware of his reporting as I can still easily access UK media reports on my computer here, something less easy to do I imagine for a UK citizen attempting to read RT.

Rosenberg has been given licence to wander the city mainly due to his cachet as a BBC reporter as it would reflect badly on the RF authorities to boot him out as they did with Luke Harding a decade ago. That fact that Rosenberg’s propaganda works on such a limited level probably also influences their tolerance of him.

It never ends well people – ing .

          • Bayard

“Probably they do fear that chucking Rosenberg out would be a step too far.”

Possibly they realised that it was better to have someone like Rosenberg, whose mendaciousness and exaggeration was obvious than someone more plausible. More likely they don’t, actually give a shit what the West thinks about them and they know the BBC is never going to say anything other than what its masters want people to hear and so it might as well be Rosenberg as another.

        • Crispa

Yes and here in the UK we taxpayers fork out to the BBC for Steve Rosenberg – Russia editor ‘s lies
£185,000 – £189,999 a year according to the BBC pay list for the current year.

          • Goose

Probably gets extra for his aggressive demeanour? He always seems slightly p*ssed off.

Wiki entry: He is Jewish, and is of part Belarusian-Ukrainian Jewish descent. He has a first-class degree in Russian Studies. Rosenberg moved to Moscow, initially teaching English at the Moscow State Technological University STANKIN.

He once compared Putin to Dobby, of the Harry Potter books and films, and at a serious Q&A of assembled journalists too. Has he ever had anything positive to say about Russia? It almost makes you wonder why he studied the language, if he hates the place that speaks it so much?

          • Frank Hovis

            JK Reflux,
It’s extremely easy to tell when Rosenberg is lying, you don’t even have to concentrate on what he is saying, he is lying when his lips move.

      • Pears Morgaine

Boy Scouts and CCF are voluntary.

Not sure how the lamentable standard of language teaching in British schools is relevant but would you agree it would be bad to cut it back even further?

        • Bayard

Teaching subjects to children who don’t want to learn is a waste of resources, whatever that subject is, so yes, compulsory language tuition is a bad idea. In any case you were talking about political interference in education. It may have passed you by, but there is now a national curriculum, i.e. the curriculum is set by the government. If that isn’t political interference in education I don’t know what is. What is so political about weapons training anyway? Learning how to handle a gun is no more political than learning how to handle a car.

          • Stevie Boy

Of course, in our wonderful woke culture we teach children about handling each other’s sexual organs and the joys of anal sex. Which might arguably be useful when they grow up and find they are continuously fucked by the establishment.

          • Brian Red

The national curriculum is not compulsory across the board.

At the moment, the situation in England and Wales is that the national curriculum is only compulsory for state schools maintained by local councils. It’s not compulsory a) in private schools, b) in other types of state school, or c) for those parents who have the integrity to keep their children outside of school altogether and educate them at home. But under the disgraceful Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026 the scope of a compulsory national curriculum looks likely to extend to b).

In Scotland the national curriculum has a different name (“curriculum for excellence”) and applies to all state schools (corrections welcome), but it definitely does not apply to private schools or home education.

It is breathtaking how so many who consider themselves politically radical have eff-all critique of either the “education” system or the “health” system and choose, without ever having bothered to consider the alternative, to send their offspring to bourgeous indoctrination camps.* Sorry but the personal is political.

            Note

*) And where the mindf*ckery of the indoctrination is getting ever more extreme and insane to boot.

          • Pears Morgaine

I’m sure a lot of children would rather not learn anything. Do we repeat the disaster of the ‘Free Schools’ of the 1970s and make attendance totally voluntary?

You really happy with the idea of children being militarised?

          • Bayard

“You really happy with the idea of children being militarised?”

Learning how to handle weapons is not being militarised. With the constant diet of violent films, videos and FPS video games that children currently consume, it is hard to see how they could be more militarised than they are already. Indeed, learning what fighting a war really involves would probably be a good idea in these circumstances.

      • Goose

Would destroying international planes be in Ukraine’s best interests?
They accuses China of aiding Russia, but China could provide Russia with technical and military capabilities hitherto untapped.

I see Germany have officially blamed Russia for the drone that conveniently did nothing at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Russia have sent thousands, maybe tens of thousands of drones into Ukraine, how easy would repurposing one be for this? But the intel services wouldn’t lie? Er, like they repeatedly did under oath recently, in defence of a violent neo-nazi informant, who’d threatened his girlfriend with a machete? Where there are absolutely no consequences for lying, no one having to resign and politicians still fawning over them – treated like gods among mortals, why wouldn’t they?

        • Goose

It’s my opinion, NATO and the EU may indeed want Russia to escalate and are thus trying to goad them into it. To provide justifications for greater involvement. We’ve all seen images of Ukrainians being dragged off the streets, kicking and screaming, literally, in some cases. This attritional war may be finally reaching a tipping point, without direct western intervention. It’s like that famous quote from Ernest Hemingway,’s 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises, when a character, Mike, is asked “How did you go bankrupt?”

          “Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly,”

This war may follow the same path. Ukrainians a\re increasingly questioning Zelensky’s judgement, and they are utterly fed up of freezing winters and life being so bleak.

We ( The Ukranian Government ) can not ensure safe passage for planes flying into Russia.

From what bit I know the Ukranian Drones are guided to their target ( very clever stuff ) so, if a plane was hit it would be intentional.

I can’t say the same for missiles though.

the same as the one, the Neo-Nazi’s of Ukraine fired at their own people at the Kramatorsk train station killing innocent people.

On the night of 7 April, pro-Russian Telegram channel ZАПИСКИ VЕТЕРАНА (“Veteran’s Notes”) warned civilians not to evacuate from Sloviansk and Kramatorsk on railways. At around 10:10 the next morning, shortly before the bombing of the railway station in Kramatorsk, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced that they had hit railway stations in Sloviansk, Pokrovsk, and Barvinkove with “high-precision air-based missiles”.

Between 1000 and 4000 civilians, mainly women and children, were present at the station awaiting evacuation from the region, which was already being subjected to heavy Russian shelling.

At 10:24 and 10:25, media affiliated with the People’s Republic of Donetsk published videos showing a pair of missiles being launched from Shakhtarsk, a city under separatist control. At approximately 10:30, two missiles hit near the railway station building in Kramatorsk.

Between 5 and 10 explosions were noted and the missiles were identified as Tochka-U armed with cluster munitions.

The remnants of one of the missiles had the Russian words ЗА ДЕТЕЙ (za detey), meaning “[in revenge] for the children”, painted in white on its outside.

We have the appalling UK Investigatory Powers Act (The “Snooper’s Charter”) legislation, that formally legitimises “Bulk Equipment Interference” – the power to remotely compromise, take control of, and extract data from entire classes of electronic devices—such as every mobile phone in a specific city or nation, goodbye Scottish independece? —under a single bulk warrant. Whether used or not, the fact the power exists, is appalling, in and of itself. Insane overreach.

        The power requirements are insane:

        – Roughly 24 new hyperscale (AI) data center proposals are moving through the planning system in Scotland.

        – If built, these proposed sites could consume up to 6,000 megawatts—more than 1.5 times Scotland’s current total peak power demand.

        – Individual data center proposals (such as those previously pitched near Edinburgh or Fife) have faced pushback because a single campus can rival the combined household power usage of major cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow.

It makes the debate about Rosebank and Jackdaw look moot.

        • Republicofscotland

I think they are pushing those so called Data Centres through – to kill thousands if not millions of jobs, also they will be used to store info on coming Digital ID’s and CBDC’s – which are going happen.

Digital ID’s were knocked back by the public – however they must be forced through somehow (a major event – that will be an inside job) for the Digital ID’s need to be in place – for the CBDC’s to then follow – combine this with the 15 minute cities Oxford is all but one – and you have a huge step taken by those, that want full control of us at every level.

In the future, history will include the “AI Mania” to go with the Canal Mania and the Railway Mania. These data centres are just another example of people building infrastructure that will never be profitable. When the sheer lack of demand for overpriced AI services finally cannot be hidden any more, all these data centres will be dead. The whole AI boom is based on a “build it and they will come” basis, but all the signs are that “they” will not come. The various AIs that are up and running are already struggling to find customers for anything but the free AIs, whereas the data centre building plans are for a customer base orders of magnitude greater.

The thinking behind all this is quite mad.

Apparently, ministers think these DCs will provide jobs. I do wish some journalist would ask them to quantify this – there will be some jobs in construction, for sure – for out of town contractors who will disappear to make the next one as soon as they can.

After that, some maintenance (fly-by contractors again), and a few patrolling security staff. That’s it.

In the meantime, the public and investors are being sold AI as some sort of genie which will produce everything we can ever want – just put up with this crap, and give us lots of money and a few more years! (Always a few more years)

Business is told this will actually put unprecedented numbers of people out of work, replacing them for everything from administration jobs to customer interaction. Hey – sign up! – you can sack your workforce and keep their wages for yourself!

We’re told we have to beat China – otherwise they’ll win, and… err… what then? So what?

So which it, and where are these promised jobs even theoretically going to come from?

No expert on AI and Data Centres but, just look at the garbage that is being knocked out online.

On here and a few other places online you have read an article/comment and reply in text to it.

In other words, you have to make some kind of effort to vent your spleen.

Ai will vent your spleen for you – for a monthly price.

Now, in general I don’t mind a robust discussion or argument – yet, imagine some idiot using AI to discuss/argue with you?

You would not be arguing with a human directly just a BOT.

You end up discussing with a Data Centre the where’s and why fore’s of a wicked world.

        ‘ That’s a great question ‘

Has anybody come across that patronising smarm on AI sites?

I think that Trump and his Team use AI to condense his rambling speeches as do many famous people.

The truth is – if you need an AI Bot to choose your words – they are not your words – they are the AI Bots words.

Therefore: they will be insincere – accurately spelt and totally devoid of passion.

Even after a drink or ten.

I think AI is a filter and a bad one at that.

It’s wisdom of the crowds ( Populism ) meets the concencus of the Ruling Class.

The discussion parameters are like this : ()

The truth becomes what the majority say.

The majority have generally been wrong and the experts usually are right.

AI could become based on the the majority opinion and not the truth.

        The question is:

Who in the future is going to check/test whether AI’s answers are correct?

If AI says 2+2 is 5 then every other exponential sum is going to be miles out.

The old Internet Warriors used to talk about – ‘ Garbage In – Garbage Out’ (GIGO)

Basically if AI is asked Garbage questions then possibly garbage will come out.

See Trump and maybe Israel for details.

Big, big mistake by the Dutch – the BoE seized Venezuela’s gold on behalf of the US – now the BoE, is sending the illegally seized gold to the US.

“The Dutch Central Bank has shifted more than a quarter of its gold reserves held in the US and Canada to the UK, citing concerns about geopolitical unrest.”

    • Goose

The geopolitical unrest is largely a product of the West’s decisions and continuing inflexibility : the decision to support the 2013-14 Maidan coup in Ukraine, followed by urging Kyiv to reject federalism as envisaged in Minsk I&II to pacify a rebellious East, laid the foundations for the full-scale Donbas armed rebellion and the LPR & DPR independence declarations, then Russia’s eventual invasion. The Iran war was entirely a war of choice by the U.S.. There was no overriding need, and Trump won election claiming, electing Harris risked costly overseas wars.

The main impasse to achieving peace in Ukraine today, isn’t Russia, or the US(for now) nor even the Ukrainian public. The impasse is in the inability of the UK(FCDO, MoD, MI6), France(Macron), Germany(Merz) ; Finland(Stubb), Poland(Tusk), EU officialdom (von der Leyen and Kallas) and NATO(Rutte), to countenance Ukraine ceding territory. They’ve put so much store by Ukraine’s total victory, not to mention their own personal egos, they and Zelensky, simply cannot give up land.
In March this year, the U.S. proposed Ukraine withdraw from the remaining parts of Donetsk they control (Russia control around 86% today), then freeze the front elsewhere. This was acceptable to Russia, but Zelensky refused to withdraw any Ukrainian forces from territory they control. So Russia broke off talks and set about taking it by force, which, it is believed they will at some point in the near future; they already control all Luhansk and Putin apparently views controlling the entire Donbas as the only sellable outcome from this costly war.

Anyone noticing – on their Soc Med platforms, eg Facebook – a * sudden * influx of recruitment ads for the UK Armed Forces? I have, and it doesn’t matter if you try to block them, they reappear with, eh….” robotic ” insistence; no doubt ’cause is exactly what they are – bots.

I’ve also been getting an awful lot of Pro-Ukraine bollocks, along with unsolicited shit supposedly from the E.U, eg statements for that delusional ( un ) Reality Show winner – Gaga Truss-Kallas – notice how she appears to be just loving all the attention she been getting since winning her place on EU’s Got Fuck All Talent comp? as well as similar from that show’s perma-host, little Brunhilde Vonda Lyin’- two grotesques I would gladly never have to see, hear or read anything about ever again; though Gaga is good comedic value in her sheer, starstruck cluelessness. Again, it doesn’t matter if you use the ” Block ” function, back they come like Terminator Barbies. I’m seriously considering binning the lot of it. I really only use it to communicate with friends and for ” shit n giggles “.

Seriously though, it def appears the pro-war propaganda is being ramped-up; I’ve certainly never seen anything like the degrees & intensity of narrative control/imposition in my lifetime as is happening now. Anyone would think the Red Army is marshalling @ Calais and will invade plucky ol’ Blighty imminently – the single UK Pol I’ve seen attempt to counter this State/Military-instigated mind-pollution is the much-attacked Diane Abbot, who rightly identifies the blanket ” Red Scare ” fearmongering for the utter shit/propaganda that it so clearly is – at least, SHOULD be clear: v disappointing that even some on here are attempting to foist the same pathetic narrative on us as UK Blimp Corps. Makes you wonder what exactly they’re doing on a site like this, eh?

From Total Surveillance* to Permanent War/Conflict; from State-Control of the Judiciary to the policing of speech/criminalising of public protest: Every day & in every way the UK is becoming indistinguishable from Airstrip One.

    * ” Incredibly “, they’re trying to imposed ID Cards ( again! ) this time on the ludicrous pretext of using them as a way to identify undocumented Immigrants!! no, really, that’s this week’s gimmick to justify this, further intrusion of the State into the personal lives of the populace

“Anyone noticing – on their Soc Med platforms, eg Facebook – a * sudden * influx of recruitment ads for the UK Armed Forces? ”

Not me. Facebook continually puts all sorts of shit on my feed which I have to delete, while asking me if I am still interested in things I have chosen to see, which I ignore. It’s easy to tell the way they are trying to nudge me, but I’ve not seen any recruitment ads for the armed forces, possibly because I’ve lied about my age.

“I’ve certainly never seen anything like the degrees & intensity of narrative control/imposition in my lifetime as is happening now.”

I think that’s because the generation who lived through WWII are dead or dying and so there is no-one left who has first hand experience of what it was like. It’s only going to get worse.

      • Robert Hughes

You’re last sentence is correct, B. And neither did that generation have the same array of tech propaganda-disseminators telling/selling them totally fabricated ” realities “. Granted that paucity of ” alternative ” information sources made the State’s propaganda exercises easier, ie harder – ‘ impossible ‘? – to counter; unlike today when there are such alternative sources, eg this very site. Though now the issue is the uncontrolled proliferation of online political platforms – the strident cacophony of voices all clamouring for attention whilst claiming to be the one with the ” real ” truth: is there any other kind? an unreal truth? Maybe Surreal Truth is where we’re at now?

Trouble is, it’s still the case that the mass of people get their information via MSM. Hopefully that * depressing * state-of-affairs is changing; well, I think it definitely IS changing, at least, studies are showing more people losing confidence in the truthfulness/ impartial reporting of the MSM, inc BBC.

There def seems to some algorithmic symbiosis re what we’re ” fed ” on our Soc Med platforms, ie I’ve noticed if I happen to watch something on Youtube, something related, at times identical, will appear on my Facebook ” feed “. This, notoriously, is the now ubiquitous phenomenon of online shopping replication, ie look at something on some online site, some product or service, and then shortly thereafter be inundated with ads/ promotions of similar products and services. This phenomenon itself a product of the now very lucrative business of Data Mining and selling thereof.

AI will only intensify this process x 1000s. I’m pretty much convinced that is the main reason for their creation/imposition

The percentage of Scots who mobilized and died was higher than the average death rate for the British army as a whole. This phenomenon is often referred to as the “Pity of War” and highlights the significant impact of the war on the Scottish community. The exact number of Scots who died in the war is debated, with estimates ranging from 100,000 to 182,222. However, the consensus is that Scotland’s soldiers suffered a higher death rate per capita compared to other British soldiers.”

The Ministry of Defence actively engages with educational institutions to facilitate recruitment efforts.”

So Spanish premier Pedro Sanchez – has called the Zio-Monsters attack on Gaza genocide, yet this man may be extradited from Spain to the US for funding Palestinian causes.

“The Fergie Chambers extradition case reached Spain’s Audiencia Nacional on 16 July 2026, and it may be the most politically loaded surrender request Madrid has handled in years. James “Fergie” Cox Chambers Jr., an heir to the Cox Enterprises media fortune, sat in a Spanish cell while a duty court weighed whether the United States gets to put him on a plane. Washington says he laundered money and bankrolled criminal disruption. His family says he is being punished for funding Palestinian causes. Both things cannot drive the same case, and Spain’s judges now have to decide which story the evidence actually supports.

Seven plainclothes officers boxed in his car in Ibiza’s Morna Valley on the morning of 10 July. No shootout, no drama, just badges and handcuffs under an Interpol Red Notice issued at Washington’s request. A judge denied bail the same day. Within days he was before the Audiencia Nacional in Madrid, the court that handles every incoming extradition request on Spanish soil.

Let’s be blunt: this case is bigger than one wealthy activist. It tests where Spain draws the line between prosecutable crime and political persecution, and every future defendant with a cause attached to their name will feel the answer.”

    https://www.extradition.co/fergie-chambers-extradition/

    What happens next.

“Spain runs what lawyers call a mixed or two-phase system, and here’s what most people miss: the judges do not get the final word. Passive extradition in Spain is governed by Law 4/1985 on Passive Extradition and the 1970 bilateral extradition treaty between Spain and the United States, as supplemented and later aligned with the 2003 EU-US Extradition Agreement. The Audiencia Nacional decides whether the legal conditions for surrender are met. Even if it says yes, the Council of Ministers can still refuse to execute the handover on sovereignty or political grounds.”

September 3 : Britain summons Russian charge d’affaires over Leipzig airport attack.

So, Russian made military-grade explosive (assuming that what the evidence is) of which Ukraine and western security services have probably amassed tons from crashed Russian drones and raided bunkers, in Ukraine, is proof. But ‘made in the UK ‘ drones ,slamming into refineries and buildings in Moscow, is not ‘proof’ of anything?

Decent opinion article in the Guardian(link below) asking the correct questions about Iran and Ukraine, and proffering solutions :

Quote : Ukraine, meanwhile, needs to become more serious about neutrality. It also needs a real debate about whether hanging on to the remainder of the Donbass it controls is worth indefinitely perpetuating the war.

The ignorant, angry responses in the comments below to this quote from the piece, show just how conditioned liberals and centrists are about Ukraine. Most, buy into the idea that were land concessions to be made in the east, in terms of these culturally Russian, Russian-speaking areas, Putin would somehow come back again, later, for the western areas of Ukraine; areas that speak Ukrainian, and historically, have had no truck with Russia. Western Ukraine would be entirely hostile to the Russians, that’s the key difference and why Russia would call quits.

Do senior UK politicians and people at the MoD who are cheering on Kyiv, understand the complex history and split loyalties in eastern Ukraine? Doubtful that they do. Many of those commenting under the guardian piece also say, we can never allow Putin to control the Donbas. They don’t seem to know, or realise, the Donbas is comprised of the Luhansk Oblast and the Donetsk Oblast. Russia already control all of Luhansk and 86% of Donetsk. “Argentina’s president has issued a fresh warning to the UK over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands, saying his country would defend its interests “with tooth and nail, no matter who it bothers”.

Javier Milei said he was preparing to make what he billed as a national announcement on Thursday night, saying the islands were “sacred” to his people and claimed his country’s national sovereignty had been “violated”.

On Tuesday, Downing Street said Britain’s commitment to the Falkland Islands was “unwavering” after Donald Trump suggested the US could review its position on the archipelago.”

      Next – Rockall?

Reading Trump’s words, I’m not sure he knows the difference between “review” and “revise” any more than he does between “parameters” and “perimeters” (as in “perimeters of a deal”)

It could be interesting if Milei does more than assert Argentinian sovereignty, which has long been the Argentinian position and is even written into the constitution.

Britain resumed weapons sales to Argentina the year after the 1982 war but there is some kind of non-complete arm trade restriction that there have been talks about lifting.

Under British and Scottish law, Rockall is viewed as part of the Isle of Harris administrative district, as is St Kilda.

          Brian.

I don’t this Trump gives a toss about sovereignty – because of him, the world is moving to a stage where might is right, Trump renamed one of the Great Lakes to Lake America, to annoy the Canadians, he did the same with the Gulf of Mexico, and he also wants to rename the Strait of Hormuz, Trump had his name added to the Kennedy Space Centre, later it was removed by the courts – then there’s Trump’s Palace at the Whitehouse – where he can dance all night with the real POTUS – Miriam Adelson.

So what’s next for the Orange egotistical paedo, his face carved into Mount Rushmore? who knows

Trump has said Milei has been very cooperative with regards to the Zio-Monsters, but he (Milei) wasn’t too pleased when Netanyahu had oil companies drill for oil off the coast of the Malvinas – I’m sure I read somewhere today that Trump is reassessing Westminster’s ownership of the Malvinas – take from that what you will.

The UN has also recognised the right of the Falkland Islanders to self determination, a right which is enshrined in the UN Charter and in article one of the two UN Covenants on human rights.

      Or don’t they matter?

I hope they don’t pick this guy as the new UNSG – if its true.

“Rumors are circulating in New York that Nickolay Mladenov, a loyal senior apparatchik in Trump’s criminal “Board of Peace,” is being considered as a compromise candidate for UN Secretary-General, as P5 states have been unable to agree on any of the current candidates. Such an appointment would cement control of the UN by the US-Israel Axis, further buttress impunity for their crimes, shelve the organization’s legal norms and standards in favor of raw state power, and significantly expedite the slide of the UN into oblivion. This is an existential moment for the UN. Either it will defend international law in opposition to the ravages of empire, or it will become a mere extension of that empire, at which point it could best advance peace, human rights, and development by dismantling itself.”

Seriously – a compromise candidate? Trump wants to sideline the UN, even if mostly the UN has never been up to much where humanitarianism against empire has been concerned – witness Korea, Congo, Iraq, Afghanistan. It has never done much to defend international law (its own SC resolutions, the Geneva conventions, etc.) against the Zionist Occupation’s ravages, although paradoxically one place where a UN humanitarian effort has made a difference (and many UN humanitarian workers have lost their lives) is Gaza. Agreed the UN is preferable any day of the week to the Board of Peace-dukes (пиздюки).

Spot on Brian – as you say lets face it the UN has been a Western tool – that’s been wielded against those that didn’t submit to the Wests narratives – if its true and this guy gets in, it will sound the death knell for the UN – and most of its demise will have been of its own doing – and even though the UN is corrupt and needs reformed, its still better than Trumps version of it, the Board of Peace.

If the UN folds, war on more nations will come from many directions, as the big guns look to grab what they can.
