Wall Street Journal has a story about how the Ukrainians were behind the Nord Stream blow-up:
      https://archive.is/KodqX
      I don’t believe a word of it.
For one thing: I have never heard of anyone doing a dive to 90 meters from a 50 ft sailing-vessel! You must have several *hours* of decompression after a dive to 90 meters; if they did an open water decompression (e.g. hanging air-tanks on a rope at each compression-stop) would require lots and lots of air-tanks: they would have to fill the whole boat up with air-tanks. Not to mention compression apparatus; for re-filling those air-tanks. Note how Western media never interviews any deep-diving experts on this? I was an amateur diver, and even I see the *huge* holes in this story.

I agree with professor Glenn Diesen on this: “This story is obviously also fake”: https://nitter.poast.org/Glenn_Diesen/status/1824052291827028372#m
-“but they are admitting the old lie in this new lie”.

Follow the money: the Nord Stream-deal was a win-win-lose: Win for Russia and Europe, lose for the US who couldn’t sell their LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). Blowing it up made it into a lose-lose-win: A loss for Europe and Russia, a (huge) win for the US (which now sells its (expensive!) LNF to Europe (especially Germany).

António Gutteres’ office condemned the use of Nazi symbols by Ukrainian soldiers!
“We oppose all symbols of Nazism and racial hatred,” said Farhan Haq, commenting it.

        The video is here
        https://pikabu.ru/story/kartyi_vskryityi_11708682#comments

        What’s going on in it:
Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region, wearing helmets with Nazi symbols, make a video, sort of TikTok. An old man appears on the road. He tried to explain that he was 74 years old and had been unable to get to a safe place for five days.
The soldier in WW2 helmet with SS insignia fakes German accent and mocks the man.

Yep. As soon as Germany´s biggest papers staff 4 or 5 reporters for that nonsense story you know something is fishy (ha!). To say the least. If I were Polish or Ukrainian I would worry if German papers were silent.
What is so very much embarassing about this is how they are insulting the intelligence of their readers, the reputation of their profession, and of course Russia too, and eventually one of their own, namely S. Hersh! How is anybody supposed to take seriously this MSM?
I have canceled several subscriptions since 2022 (for financial reasons too) but the horrific state propaganda was one drop too many.

          p.s.

-Already Trump demanded an end to NS2. His Secretary of Commerce Mnuchin (who in San Francisco before that time was ruining tenants when defrauding them in ways that were illegal even by US law – until none other than Kamala Harris saved his ass) rebuffed Scholz´s attempt to save NS2 when Scholz was Finance Minister under Merkel (offering 1 bn Euros to Mnuchin). That same year CIA had operatives in Northern Germany inquiring about the pipeline and about ways to “end” it.
-In 2021 Merkel and Biden agreed on a deal that NS2 would be over with in case RU attacked UKR.
-And then there are those dozen comments by various US politicians rejoicing over the wrecking of NS2.
Not to mention Hersh´s investigation which will pass the test of time.
It´s all so obvious. But just like with Gaza – the empire just doesn´t care. They are running around rampaging the planet, killing people, fucking over everybody in open daylight yet nothing happens.

BTW, interesting comments on that WSJ article about Nord Stream. Lots of commentators are highly sceptical, that is something new. Until a few years ago, nearly 100% would have swallowed it whole.

MSM is loosing its grip: they have fed too much BS.

“Lots of commentators are highly sceptical, that is something new.”

Yes. And I get the impression this also is true for the current Kursk suicide operation. By far there is not the relentless praise and jingoism like with incidents before. Skepticism set in very soon with many journalists this time.
Of course still 2000 or so died so far (I hope I am not mixing up the numbers here). 2000 totally unnecessary deaths just to satisfy operational expectations drawn up on gaming boards by incompetent NATO-personnel. What has changed since WWI-madness of generals getting waves of their own people killed over nothing?
Regardless what people might think about the particulars of the path to this war between RU and UKR. NATO was never in any way threatened. Yet it is NATO-officers who are pulling the strings here letting others die for their own lack of military sophistication. Abusing a nation as sandlot. These people are criminals.

Amazing and to be honest, embarrasing, that Russia do not manage to stop the invasion into Kursk:

Ukraine claims to control more than 1,000sq km (386sq miles) of Russian territory following a surprise offensive that began August 6.

                      @H.
Yes. And I think German media elites are not even aware of the horrific damage they are doing. Damage the Germans will feel economically at least. The Russians won´t care.

                      @Jack
They do not have 1000square km. Rather about 10x15km.

Apparently even RT and some other RU outlets are using this as a story to sell.
RT even misquoted Putin so that Kremlin had to contradict RT´s statement.

I have been following Andrei Martyanov on this. And all his ranting aside what he says makes sense.
Around 12.000 AFU are boxed in now and as even John Mearsheimer pointed out this will further deterioration of the Ukrainian front.

I haven´t followed the beginning of this operation close enough. But by now it appears as if the RUs are indeed using it as a “cauldron”. Like an unwise chess move by your opponent which offers you leverage.

After all RU forces had been doing evasive maneuvers at the contact lines since 2022 to create void spaces where the front would move so that they could position better for strikes.

RU will fight this to the end. And if bleeding out Ukraine´s male population for a decade is part of it, they will go along with that and use it. Support among Russians remains steady. So Kursk is really just a tiny spot.

As the shopping mall is concerned: Terrorism cannot be excluded 100%. Since AFU/NATO can hardly hurt miliary units they kill civilians instead. The same Israel is doing on a genocidal scale in Gaza.

And whether JASSM will be delivered or not, might turn out meaningless.
                      Politico admits that:
“The Pentagon has been receptive to the suggestion from Congress to supply the missiles because Russia has been successful at jamming some other American-made, precision-guided weapons.”
Eventually JASSM will await the same fate.

                      and earlier paragraph:
“It may be too late anyway for Ukraine to use its existing missiles to strike Russian aircraft at their bases, as the Russian military moved their fighters beyond the range of those missiles in May, according to the administration official.”

It is obvious between the lines that there is not much more they can send.
And if they commit F-35s is very unlikely. At some point arms manufacturers realize that the bad performance of their goods might hurt their business interest in the long run.

                      Of course countries

                        …my post was cut off.

I was mentioning Poland as one of the few who out of sheer racism are willing to waste money on bad US products instead of buying from China or Russia or instead of not buying anything at all. (No idea where the Poles take that money from anyway).
But other places like India will look more closely at the cost-benfit ratio of their military investment. And so US MIC will have to contend with more progressive RU/CHINESE arms on the market.
So this war might just be shut down because at some point it hurts creditors more and US manufacturers more than it helps. Instead US companies will try to advance their R&D sections using the lessons since 2022. All the while BRICS will get bigger and stronger.

Iam not even sure what the end goal of Russia have nowadays regarding Ukraine, they could hardly protect Donetsk, Donbas and now not even their own proper soil. To put it simply, it seems like Russia fighting the war with the tactics, abilities of the first World war I. How they missed all the ukrainian troops, vehicles going to the russian border should generate firing off the whole general squad of the russian army responsible for protecting this region.

Retired Gen. Andrei Gurulev, a member of the lower house of Russia’s parliament, criticized the military for failing to protect the border.

“Regrettably, the group of forces protecting the border didn’t have its own intelligence assets,” he said on a channel of his messaging app. “No one likes to see the truth in reports, everybody just wants to hear that all is good.”

Battle-hardened mechanized units easily overwhelmed lightly armed Russian border guards and small infantry units consisting of inexperienced conscripts. Hundreds were taken prisoner, Ukrainian officials said. The Ukrainians drove deep into the region in several directions, facing little resistance and sowing chaos and panic.

Over a year now after the Wagner uprising and the killing off of Yevgeny Prigozhin, ever since the energy in the russian camp seems to have wind down. It seems like Wagner forces really were the strong fundamental base the russian army had in this war. It was of course a idiotic move by Prigozhin to wage an uprising against the russian state, however, it was also a big mistake for the russian state/army not to give proper aid, support for Wagner in Ukraine.

on SIPRI´s report from April 2024

Global military expenditure saw its steepest increase in over a decade in 2023, reaching an all-time high of $2.4 trillion as wars and rising tensions fuelled spending across the world, researchers said Monday.”

                                  https://archive.is/W9KqO

“The continuation of the war in Ukraine led to an increase in spending by Ukraine, Russia and “a whole host” of European countries, Tian said.

Russia boosted spending by 24 percent, reaching $109 billion in 2023, according to SIPRI’s estimates.
Since 2014, when Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimea, the country’s military spending has risen by 57 percent.

Ukraine’s military spending rose by 51 percent, reaching $64.8 billion, but the country also received $35 billion in military aid, of which the majority came from the US, meaning the combined aid and spending equalled over nine tenths of Russia’s spending.

Tian noted that while Moscow’s and Kyiv’s overall budgets were relatively close in 2023, Ukraine’s military spending equalled 37 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) and 58 percent of all government spending.

By contrast, in Russia, which has a larger economy, military spending amounted to just 5.9 percent of its GDP.

“So the room for Ukraine to increase its spending is now very limited,” Tian said.

In Europe, Poland saw the largest increase in military spending by far, up by 75 percent to $31.6 billion.”

Shortly before this, Sweden’s Development Minister Johan Forssell had made the statement on X, which was perceived as “hostile” in Bamako, that Mali “cannot support Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine and at the same time receive several hundred million crowns in development funds every year”.”

Also Russia should initiate some type of task-force organ that will deal with sanctions, hostile acts by the west instantly. If x nation do something against Russia, Russia should respond directly, not wait months before some sanction-response come.

Nord Stream was ‘legitimate target’ for Ukraine – EU country’s president
Pipelines will always be attacked during conflicts due to their strategic importance, the Czech Republic’s Petr Pavel has said

Well then I assume arms factories in Czech Republic is a “legitimate target” for Russia then…

In 2014, two explosions of ammunition depots occurred in Vrbětice, Vlachovice, in the Zlín District of the Czech Republic
On April 29th, 2024, Czech president Petr Pavel declared the investigations and information available to him confirm the event to be a Russian attack on Czech soil

This day in 1943, August 23, the Kursk Battle ended.
A year ago I’ve bookmarked the video by Kursk region Governor, he speaks in the memorial cemetery in Besedino, where 50.000 German soliers are buried.
Who would have thunk (c) that today it’s even more relevant than a couple of years ago.

The video is in Russian, with subtitles in German. I wish Baerbock and Scholz had a look at it.

                                              This is getting embarassing:

“(…) David Lammy was mocked last night for urging people to stomp their feet in a show of support for Ukraine. His ‘Make Noise for Ukraine’ campaign has been launched despite Kyiv remaining desperately short of military equipment in its war with Russia. So while Ukrainian commanders are forced to ration artillery shells, Foreign Secretary Mr Lammy’s focus appeared to be on hashtags and social media posts. The promotion also calls on UK military personnel to beep car horns and bang pots together, supposedly to send a morale-boosting message to Ukraine. But senior British defence figures said clips uploaded on to X and Facebook were no substitute for weapons, including the UK’s deadly Storm Shadow missiles.(…)”

so far nothing in Germany on Kursk 1943 (was there last year? I don´t remember, after all it was an “anniversary” then, but I would assume there was something). May be tomorrow, may be behind paywalls (e.g. in the history section of some expensive legacy paper).
But the silence – obviously – is defeaning.

(defeaning would be a nice invention though like defeat + deaf. fits the present state)

Something akin to and just as useless as “clap for the NHS” during covid.

Utterly insulting of the intelligence of the general population though some will partake with enthusiasm.
