Fall of Tripoli 104

It seems that Gadaffi’s regime has collapsed very quickly at the end. It is difficult to be sure as yet, but it seems there may have been mercifully less further bloodshed than might have been feared. Thank goodness the NATO bombing campaign will now end.

It is plain that there is a great deal of support from ordinary citizens of Tripoli for the rebellion. Whether that translates into specific support for the leadership of the Transitional National Council is quite a different question. Getting rid of a bad government is difficult, but not as difficult as establishing a good one. The next few weeks will be very interesting.

The mainstream news media will move on in a few days, as it has moved on from Egypt. Not all pro-democracy demonstrators arrested under Mubarak have yet been released under the new military government there. However it is good to see anti-Israeli demonstrations are allowed. That is a major advance on the Mubarak years. NATO may yet find it equally difficult to hijack the Libyan people to their agenda.

Now of course NATO are free to move on to oust the despotic, torturing regime of Bahrain. Or not.

‘Since first hearing about the meta-group’s role in the Russian 9/11, I have pondered the question whether it could have played a similar role in the American 9/11 as well. At this point I have to say that I have found no persuasive evidence that would prove its involvement. The fact remains that two informed and credible witnesses, Sibell Edmonds and Indira Singh, have spoken independently of the importance of international drug trafficking in the background of 9/11.’

Guest:Mark I followed some links on FORCE X. But the Dale Scott claim here has dodgy evidence. Sibell Evans reference – note 120 – doesn’t mention Sibell Edmonds let alone reference to FORCE X. Is he crazy or have I made a mistake?

The rabble beckon Israel to enter. Little does Mr Shabani know, they and their drones are already there.
Rebel spokesman to Haaretz: Libya needs help, including Israel
    By Yossi Melman
“We are asking Israel to use its influence in the international community to end the tyrannical regime of Gadhafi and his family,” says Ahmad Shabani.

Wildly out here, Craig, by the look of it. The Gaddafi regime hasn’t fallen, there has been a NATO bloodbath, NATO bombing is not going to stop, the Libyan people don’t support ‘the rebels” i.e. NATO control elemnets of various hues. It is simply hopeless to try to construct intelligent comment on the basis of MSM reports- those days are over. This is a post-modern coup involving a virtual seizure of power which they hope could become a real one, a virtual new government which can “invite” NATO ground forces in as a “peacekeeping force. In the end this is Libya versus NATO. If NATO win this they will go on the Syria and we are on the road to WW3. We should be out protesting defending a sovereign country from Western violation if we really want a future.

I was reading about the Panama invasion a couple of days ago, in which probably more than a thousand of civilians were slaughtered to depose and arrest Noriega and bring back to power the previous oligarchic families. This is essentially the same thing.

And lo and behold, liberals cheer!

A while ago you wrote that the majority of Libyans supported Gaddafi. I was so shocked by this assertion that I said it was bizarre. I apologise for being so blunt but as my family is Libyan and I have a good knowledge of the country I found what you said quite extraordinary.
As you didn’t believe me and wanted evidence, I decided to wait until Gaddafi fell to show you the proof. In the coming days you’ll see how much the majority of people hated him and how he abused his people.

I agree with you totally that the West is not helping the Libyans for humanitarian reasons.”

Don DeBar about the real on-the-ground situation in Tripoli

Is that the same Don deBar who wrote here? http://dondebar.blogspot.com/2011/08/is-tripoli-obamas-bay-of-pigs.html

“Gaddafi opened up the armories to the people of Libya, more than a million rifles and other arms have been handed out to the people of Tripoli. The claim that has been made, wall-to-wall, from the so-called ‘progressive’ media of the United States to such a Fox is that Gaddafi is a hated dictator and that this is an indigenous rebellion. The dictator does not hand people guns and say: ‘Please, defend me!’

“This has more the appearance of a large-scale Bay of Pigs, where the invaders are being enticed to come in and engage the people on the ground, than it does some sort of a ‘people’s rebellion’ backed by the United States which, by itself, would be a remarkable event if it were true.”

Look, we know what NATO is about – no illusions, it’s a violent, imperialist entity. Anyone who has any illusions about Gaddafi, that he is a hero of his people, etc. – is just as deluded as those who think NATO is there ‘for humanitarian reasons to save the people of Libya’. If Gaddafi in the last few days really did open up his armouries to all and sundry, it would be because he knew all was lost, didn’t want the weapons to fall into the opposition’s hands and wanted to sow chaos and violence for years to come – for Libya to ‘go down if I’m going down’, as it were. This is not the equivalent of the Bay of Pigs. Gaddafi 2011 is not Castro, 1961. We do not have to idolise Gaddafi in order to oppose imperialism.

Noriega, Marcos, Gaddafi, Hussein – all, at one time or another, have been de facto or de jure US agents. All ended up being toppled by the USA and its pals, all in different ways. The agent ceases to fulfill the needs of the master – he is history.
