Israeli economics minister Naftali Bennett has claimed of Binyamin Netanyahu that “The prime minister is not a private person but the leader of the Jewish state and the whole Jewish world.” Really? Netanyahu is the leader of all the Jews in London, or California, or Ethiopia, who may never have set foot in his state?
This extraordinary remark by Bennett lays bare the fundamental flaw in the very concept of Israel. It is not a modern state, defined as a territory and comprising all the various citizens of whatever descent who live within it. It is rather a vicious racist construct, defined absolutely by race, refusing territorial limits, and with an aggressive theocratic overlay that claims tribal superiority over the entire rest of the world.

We would not tolerate the level of racism in any other country that we tolerate from Israel. There was a huge outcry against Labour MP Paul Flynn who dared question whether it was sensible to send a strongly professed Zionist Jew as British ambassador to Israel, but when the Israeli government itself proclaim the political leadership of all Jews all over the world, it is a logical impossibility not to ask the question.
I wish nothing but good to all people, including all Jewish people, but by their increasingly hardline racialist approach, their unceasing encroachment on Palestinian land and their rigorous adoption of all the racist mechanisms of an apartheid state internally, I feat that the window of opportunity for a peaceful future for those Jewish people living in what is currently Israel is closing fast.
It must be universally proclaimed: there is not a single racial group in the whole world from whom worldwide racial claims of political allegiance, or an internal racially based legislative order, are acceptable. Bennett’s remarks are beyond the limit of civilised political discourse.

The only gun law Obama has approved, was one expanding gun rights onto national parks, and onto the railway system. No inhibition on the firearms already present in what has rightly been described as an armed madhouse.

As an aside, I should say that the gun laws in the US are completely crazy. I always enjoy Craig’s posts and I profit from the earlier comments; but why do the comment threads so quickly go off-topic and/or descend into personal abuse? It’s like listening to a lecture by someone highly informed and then, after a few intelligent responses from the floor, watching proceedings disintegrate into furious arguments about something else entirely.
On topic, I’d like to ask: Is it correct to consider Jews as a race at all? (What exactly is the definition of a race anyway?) It’s difficult generally to ask this question without being suspected of “anti-Semitic” or even (somehow) pro-Nazi sentiments, but it’s a question that seems to me always begged.

I’ve noticed that there are some peculiar things about this Daily Mail report you mentioned.
Purporting to have been written by one Guy Adams “for the Daily Mail”, it includes the following passage:

Well, it seems in 2013 it was more than just a “story”. Here are Stephen Wright and Richard Pendlebury “for the Daily Mail”, writing on 27 February 2013:

Incidentally, there are many images on the internet of a copy of this alleged list of VIP visitors to the Elm Guest House. Simply enter “Elm Guest House VIP list” on a search engine and you will find it easily enough.
I have absolutely no way of knowing that this document is not an outrageous fake. But there are some interesting things about it. It is now public knowledge that some of the names written on it have, without question, engaged in scandalous sexual behaviour: for example, Cyril Smith and Harvey Proctor. Of particular interest is the name written at the top of the list. There can be no doubt that the Home Office knows of the existence of this document, and for that reason alone, even if it is nothing more than an outrageous fake, it was highly inappropriate for Fiona Woolf to have been even offered the position to which she was appointed by Theresa May in September 2014. Justice must not only be done, but be seen to be done. There must be scores of suitably qualified candidates with not the slightest connection to any Establishment figures about whom there are disturbing rumours, and hence, at the lowest, it shows breathtaking incompetence to pick not one, but two people who can, with obvious justification, be strongly objected to by the so-called “victim community”.

Yes John, that is the logical conclusion that anyone (someone like you or me) when applying some moral judgement would come to but unfortunately these people are neither logical nor do they have one ethical bone in their bodies. The term ‘race’ is really misused when its main meaning is one of competition or, in the case of a race of ball bearings, to share a load together.
I agree with Huw that to describe a people as Arian or Jew is a construct, imho a vehicle to establish a false priory, one which can be filled with all sorts of Apartheid ideas to make out that one is better or different to the rest of us.
