Yes indeed, but : he (ie, Mrs Mandelson) wasn’t a British citizen at the time of the 2004 European Parliament elections (hence ineligible to stand) and by the time of the newt EP elections in May 2009, Mandelson was already no longer an EU Commissioner (so couldn’t really pull any strings on behalf of his wife)

Another double talking politicians is Jim Murphy who constantly rabbits on about uniting Scots after the referendum. Yet Mr Murphy, couldn’t even bring himself to unite with a cross party census, of which all the parties at Holyrood agreed on.
The saving of the RAF Kinloss Centre which houses the coastguard, was the topic that united all parties, except Murphy who decided to snub the others, a write a letter to David Cameron, by his own hand.
If this is an example of Labours attempt to unite Scotland, then we’re in for one hell of ride, come the GE and the 2016 Scottish elections.

This is all the most utter garbage. Since 1989, Moscow, the supposed aggressor, has – without fighting or losing a war – peacefully ceded control over roughly 180 million people, and roughly 700,000 square miles of valuable territory.
The EU (and its military wing, Nato) have in the same period gained control over more than 120 million of those people, and almost 400,000 of those square miles.

That process is continuing. If the Saudis ceased pumping oil, they would permanently lose the wells to salt water contamination. In the current “pump it or lose it” situation, the Saudis are forced to pump at a rate that may take up to five years before they can slow down production rates to pre-glut levels.

It’s been known (though suppressed) for some time that Saudi’s wells have been flagging because the necessary investment in water drive wasn’t made in time to maintain production levels. Now they’re forced, on one reading, to maximise production to maintain revenue against the falling price. Which, they claim, is due to overproduction outside OPEC. This makes as much sense as any other reading IMO. And it means that water injection is mandatory. All but one of their fields are past their best.
