Karimov: “Homosexuality A Vile Western Phenomenon” 78

The appalling President Karimov of Uzbekistan does not mellow in old age. He has just given a speech in which he describes homosexuality as a “vile western phenomenon.” The only news report I can find adds that he said:

“If a man lives with a man, or a woman with a woman, I think that something there isn’t quite right, or some change has happened,”

I am told by someone who was present that he went on to order a still harsher clampdown on gays by the authorities. I have personal friends who were taken in by police and severely tortured for being gay in Uzbekistan. Yet the British Home Office still routinely refuses claims by gay Uzbek asylum seekers.

Homosexuality was in fact an accepted feature of Uzbek society until colonial occupation by European Russians (something which many other of my Uzbek friends find hard to accept, but undoubtedly true). Karimov’s assertion is therefore the diametric opposite of the truth.

    I’m really worried about the ISIS exploding kangaroos…

    http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/teenager-sevdet-besim-faces-trial-for-alleged-anzac-day-terror-plot-20160128-gmftaa.html

    I’m living in the cupboard under my stairs, and I have spare batteries for my torch, but I need the government to tell me how to deal with ISIS kangaroos, because I am totally terrified by this new threat.

    Please government, take away all my civil rights and enslave me, but please, please take away the terror of exploding kangaroos.

    I only wish I were making this up…

    Rob G- Maybe the MET can counter the kamikaze kangaroos with their new solution to the threat of drones, eagles!

    Fedup – In response to your previous comment about “trolls” asking for proof of claims made on here. Evidence is required by some of us more rational folk befote we believe or accept something. Telling someone to piss off just because they ask for that is not only rude but also decreases the value of anything you have said or may say in the future.

    RobG This is the stuff of the comedies passing as reality these days;

    Mr Besim has been in custody since April 18 when 200 heavily armed officers swooped on the city’s south-east, arresting five teenagers and seizing knives and swords.

    Two hundred heavily armed officers going to arrest five teenage boys!!!! The boys probably were indulging in a bung session and they thought best to bounce ideas on the whatapp about exploding roose painted in Daesh colours, sporting a black bandanna with weird symbols on it!!!!!

    What will the future generation think of these times? I wonder if the names of the two hundred warriors armed to the teeth on their way to capture a few teenagers will be recalled by the history, and hounred for their so brave capture of the hairy flighty brained teenagers?

    Having any sort of religious beliefs per se has been made increasingly incompatible with World we live in today, and deliberately so;

    Stand corrected not all religions are bad, or filled with false gods and lousy profits, We all know that Jesus was a trouble making terrorists who stopped the trade of the money changers who were fulfilling a very important role; fleecing the pilgrims all in the way of good Jehovah/Yahweh, so Christianity is out! Then we know the moon god worshipping Mohammed and all the rotten things he is accused of as well as all the subsequent problems of the world so Islam is out! Sikh look far too much like Muslims they are out too! Hindus have no religion they are fair weather pilgrims with a god for every occasion and then some, these can be acceptable so long as they don’t get organised and cause hassle!

    The one “working” religion is left and we cannot mention it in case of discrimination against it and it only is closed shop and not many outsiders/converts are welcome unless they are Hollywood stars and can be of some propaganda value! Hence the only acceptable relegion is; ***aism and don’t you forget about it!!!!

    The religionist fight is all about creating fissures and stopping the humanity to become unified and god forbid turn on the free loading banksters, oligarchs and plutocrats who are doing just fine catering for all the hate they have managed to sow!!!

    Morality puuuuhhhhh!!! It is for wimps! We all know that animals in the form of human can be treated with utter disregard and contempt and it is acceptable, in fact encouraged for the benefit of these animals themselves in the way of being benevolent to these!!!!

    The day Soviet Union fell the banksters, oligarch and plutocrats were besides themselves their fear; who can be hated and because of them the oodles of tax funds can be spent on weapons to stop these hated bastards from doing what they do the best; come kill us all and take our lands, jobs, women, dogs, budgerigar, ass, cattle, chattel and anything else that was not nailed down and protected by a fifty mega tonne hydrogen bomb!!!

    @Phil, everybody has the right not to waste their time & effort by responding to somebody they believe is not acting in good faith, ie not interested in honest debate; if you personally are interested in engaging with Fedup or any other Poster, then nobody is stopping you.

    You are entitled to your opinion, it is free blog, but kindly stop being so didactic and start reading a bit more (there are enough material there) and even god forbid perhaps use any of the various search engines to find the answers! spoon feeding is an outmoded method of transaction these days.

    I think people are perfectly entitled to whatever religious beliefs they hold. It is a long, long way from that to allowing people to impose their beliefs on the private lives of others, and while nobody should deliberately give offence, in general there is no right not to be offended by other people’s private behaviour. It is not your business.

    Craig I could not have put it any better myself, agreed!

    Craig

    If my private behaviour is not the mosque’s business, why does MI5 share information on my private life with the mosque, enabling them to poison their opinion about me which is categorically forbidden in Islam, and why does MI5 turn a blind eye to Muslim groups in the UK spying on the Muslims and allowing them to tell the Muslim neighbours what they found?

    I will answer my own question. The Muslims, particularly the leaders have stated publicly that they are the colonial underdogs and Allah will give this country to them. In order to achieve this ambition they lick the arses of the 2 main political parties and send young jihadists to oppress the Syrian civilians as part of the far right wing political agenda of the neo-cons.

    if the leaders of the Muslim community can grind down the opponents of neo-con fascism by spying, lying, broadcasting slander, blocking their opportunities in the mosque and blacklisting or simply blasting out their ideas in the work-place, then that pushes them further up the pleasure of the backside of the neo-cons.

    With all due respect I have now read your links but found no connection to the middle class.

    You’ve got to laugh at Quilliam trying to buy the opposition. Does Maajid Nawaaz think the English have as little respect for their principles as the Asian Muslims?

    It’s exactly like the Muslim company I worked for, the CEO was constantly trying to buy up small private companies with the Sultan of Brunei’s billions instead of getting his own high-salaried staff to set up a proper factory doing the job the proper way.

    They have the mentality of petty criminals. perfect love-match for the Tory neo-cons.

    It is good to see that some regulars are taking the time to visit the new Israeli 24 hour TV news channel I brought to people’s attention and recommended several weeks ago.

    Good also to see that unlike some other international news channels (no names, no pack drill, eh!) the Israeli channel also runs stories not necessarily favorable to Israel.

    This is from the Independent article quoting Tommy’s observation about the Pegida support demographics;

    “There’s no alcohol or aggression, they have middle class support.”

    You need to read your stuff with a bit more care perhaps?

    You’ve got to laugh at Quilliam trying to buy the opposition. Does Maajid Nawaaz think the English have as little respect for their principles as the Asian Muslims?

    As you know from the above QF offering to support Tommy whom disbanded his own organisation ala edl and went and joined the QF and his cousin Stephen Carroll vanishing at around the same time. As Tommy goes on record whilst he was doing the bird care of HMP he was getting paid half the amounts agreed ie one thousand pounds to help his girlfriend with the rent and electricity.

    Needless to point out, that your jaundiced view of the Asians has stopped your brain from adding two and two and getting four!!! Reread Craig’s eloquent reply to me and understand that salary of “employees/agents” on “enforced leave” can be allocated to be paid through the nominal accounts of other…….

    Levelling the Palestinian village playing field – Israeli style:

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/feb/09/israeli-bill-pro-palestinian-rights-groups-parliament

    The legislation has been criticised as it would only affect leftwing Israeli organisations, many of which are funded by EU countries, and not rightwing NGOs, which are supported by private donations from wealthy supporters of Israel. MPs who oppose the legislation described it as “political persecution” and an erosion of Israeli democracy.

    The opposition leader, Isaac Herzog, said the law would damage Israel’s standing among its friends abroad. Last month, the US ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, said: “Governments must protect free expression and peaceful dissent and create an atmosphere where all voices can be heard.”

    … but its proponents disagree with that.
