Strange Events 104

You will note that this morning’s piece on Afghanistan was posted at 4am. That is because I was awoken by what sounded like somebody rattling the back door. There was however nothing to be seen.

Then at 10.22pm this evening, Nadira received a phone call on her mobile from a witheld number. A heavily accented man asked “if her husband was the writer”. She asked who it was, and he gave his name as Osman. She noticed that another man was whispering, telling the first man what to reply.

“Osman” then started asking repeatedly “Is your husband at home?” Nadira said that I did not take phone calls from people at that time of night, and suggested that “Osman” should email. “Osman” said that I was going to write something for him, and again started asking if I was at home. Nadira told him to email, and he then started swearing and repeating “Your husband owes us £30,000”.

This is all very disconcerting. I don’t know any “Osman”, and to the best of my knowledge neither I not any organisation with which I am connected has any outstanding debts to anybody. Why phone so late of night, who was “Osman” and who was the man whispering his instructions? Most disconcerting of all, why phone Nadira and where did he get her number?

If I did not have a family I would laugh this off, but the approach to Nadira and the questioning of whether I am at home is alarming. Probably that is the object of the exercise.

    @Redders (& Craig),

Yes, please forgive me I was responding to Technicolour.

  • Redders

Corretct!………you will note Ex PC, I daresay you were never in the Police and therefore don’t have the slightest clue how they work.

You’re a gutless little Troll too scared to reveal your identity because its empty.

‘I daresay you were never in the Police and therefore don’t have the slightest clue how they work.’

    I know how they work.

“Redders: Once a copper always a copper.”

Absolutely correct, I continue to pursue justice to the best of my ability.

You on the other hand are a nasty little coward who wouldn’t have the balls to stand up to anyone unless you were hiding behind a keyboard.

Once a coward always a coward.

Then every Tom, Dick and Spook could study the Murray’s habits by day and time.

That’s about the worst suggestion I’ve read yet…

  • Suhayl Saadi

On another lighter note – humour might be a good weapon in such circumstances – d’you think the “heavily-accented man” might’ve been Borat, or a Borat impersonator?

  • Anonymous

Redders: Reading your posts, I now know why you were never seriously considered for promotion from PC.

    1) Anger management problem.

    2) Needs an authoritative figure to make rational decisions.

    3)Challenged intellect.

You will find all three on your personnel file at police HQ.

  • Suhayl Saadi

I am intrigued by the reference to ‘disturbing theatre’ and indeed have read this before, elsewhere.

What forms might this theatre take? One wonders whether the people who organise such things hire actors for the purpose. Are there any actors around who are aware of this? Or are they sworn to secrecy under pain of the OSA and/or no work? And who, anonmynous poster, was the chap in jeans and leather jacket? What had you ‘done’ to arouse the ire of the hard state?

It’s very confusing, btw, that you don’t adopt at least a basic pseudonym – say, ‘Person’, or ‘Homo Sapiens Sapiens’ – for your posts, because there may well be more than one poster who does that and because there are already posters who entitle themselves, ‘anon’, ‘anno’, etc. So, one doesn’t know whether one is talking to the right person. But perhaps that is your intention, to remain, like the phantom of the opera, in the shadows and perpetually mutable.

Suhayl: It is only the content of a post that matters. It is left to you the reader to judge on that and on nothing else.

  • Suhayl Saadi

Yeah, okay. But it’s a bit like when you’re in a studio talking to a camera lens. You know there are lots of people on the other side, looking at your face, but can see only your own face, talking back at you.

    Anyway, it’s your right.

But tell me more, please, about the leather jacket and disturbing theatre.

    Thanks.

Suhayl: You should specify ‘at June 11, 2010 7:56 AM’ that is as good as a ‘basic pseudonym’.

It was not me ‘at June 11, 2010 7:56 AM’

“I am intrigued by the reference to ‘disturbing theatre’ and indeed have read this before, elsewhere.”

Yes, a mutual friend of ours was subject to “street theatre” and other maddeningly vague menaces.

Intriguingly the said mutual friend would often be immediately backed up by some other poster who would wholeheartedly and absolutely concur with him before disappearing back into cyberspace never to be heard from again.

Some funny things do happen on this blog. Notice how Apostate/Steelback/Freeborn/Juniper and tungsten seem to be here all at once going on about the Jews and the international banking conspiracy – concurring furiously with each other with the occasional disagreement – and then disappearing collectively.

  • angrysoba

An anonymous poster writes: “It was not me ‘at June 11, 2010 7:56 AM’ ”

Which is about the most meaningless post ever in a very strong field.

  • Anonymous

angrysoba:I was pointing out to Suhayl that he was under a misconception.

Anyone of reasonable intelligence would have perceive that.

‘Which is about the most meaningless post ever in a very strong field.’ The field is led by you.

  • Suhayl Saadi

Argh! This is exactly why I suggested they use a name – any name. How am I or anyone meant to know who posted the post, if it’s not one anonymous poster then it must be another… and so the web-versation becomes meaningless and confused. But I shall try to post the ref. times in future.

Oh yes, apostate operates as a kind of hydra. One day, I’d like to attend one of his lectures. Perhaps it resembles a Charismatic church service.

Okay, so, whoever the anonymous poster was who posted the narrative about leather jackets and disturbing theatre, please would you care to elaborate, please. I am fascinated and would like to learn more. Thank you (again), whoever you might have been, are, or will be!

Angrysoba, btw, I meant to ask you earlier, what do you think of Yukio Mishima’s work?

  • Anonymous

‘Notice how Apostate/Steelback/Freeborn/Juniper and tungsten seem to be here all at once going on about the Jews and the international banking conspiracy – concurring furiously with each other with the occasional disagreement – and then disappearing collectively.’

angrysoba: I think that makes you the conspiracy nut around here.

  • angrysoba

“Angrysoba, btw, I meant to ask you earlier, what do you think of Yukio Mishima’s work?”

I’ve only read a couple of his stories. A famous one, Patriotism, and a novel The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the Sea.

There is maybe only one other book by him that I might read which is called, I think, the Golden Pavillion (Kinkakuji) but I didn’t really enjoy his stories.

I think he has gained a lot of fame partly through his…er…flambouyant fascist lifestyle and his attention-grabbing suicide.

I think there was a very arty film made of his life by Paul Schrader although I’ve never seen it.

  • Suhayl Saadi

Actually, I’ve read his big quartet of novels, and I liked them. But I like that kind of dense prose and mystical, allusory approach. He was obviously a fascist nutter and if you mention him to some Japanese people, understandably, they’ll often recoil. But I did like what I read of his work – in translation, of course.

Richard Appignanesi wrote a novel about Mishima. I once visited the crypts of one of the iconic (!) cathedrals in Kiev with Richard. Death, beauty and wax. Very Mishima, oddly enough.

Commenter too inconsiderate to leave a name at June 11, 2010 6:05 PM,

Angrysoba was the first to state publicly what I had suspected for some time; that Apostate posts under multiple names. Anyone with reasonable powers of observation would come to the same conclusion.

You abuse the open policy of this blog by not using any name, and you thereby offend me.

  • Clark

    Angrysoba,

to be fair to Apostate (in his various forms), he now targets his criticism more accurately upon a (postulated) elite group of Zionists, accusing them of using and abusing ordinary people including Jews.

  • Anonymous

Clark: You above all on here surprise me. Not into that Clark, I believe in freedom of speech and choice. It is Clark ‘open policy’, I choose to exercise that choice. If that offends your emerging fascist leanings, then so be it.

  • Clark

    June 11, 2010 7:54 PM,

no. It offends ME. As for your “so be it” – well, I don’t believe you; I think that you wish to offend.

  • Anonymous

‘I think that you wish to offend.’

I do not. I leave those things to people like you Clark.

‘Angrysoba was the first to state publicly what I had suspected for some time; that Apostate posts under multiple names.’

You suspected. You do not know, yet so quick to condemn. I think Apostate has a right to be offended.

    Your arrogance offends me!.

  • Clark

    June 11, 2010 8:47 PM,

Apostate is free to contact me at any time via the link that I provide, as are you. Your current level of comment is not worthy of further debate.

Just in case..be careful when driving, especially in the country. GCHQ have technology above what one expects. When Princess Diana died the driver lost control twice then regained control. The third time control was lost, it was not recovered. I suspect a degradable substance was sprayed on the tyres which may have caused loss of control at a certain temperature. Whether it was a spray I am guessing through knowledge of inventory. The losing control part is 100% accurate. Hence why I tell you to be careful.

Blimey, an anonymous, ghostly, psycho analyst with access to Police HQ files that I don’t have access to. We are in the presence of a God.

Go away you annoying little cretin. Post your past on a blog and how much piss could we all rip out of you? I daresay lots, had you the courage to be honest about it.

You are a coward, snivelling, grovelling little turd.
