They got the wrong person 512

There are many thousands of people imprisoned in Uzbekistan alone who should not be imprisoned and who suffer much worse conditions than even the genuine horrors of Wandsworth being visited on Julian Assange. But the Assange case has implications for ever deteriorating Western freedoms which should not be overlooked.

Then there are many war criminals who ought to be in jail and who are not. Most prominent of these are Bush, Blair, Cheney, Straw and their crew. A minor figurewho ought to be in jail is Anna Ardin. Here are two tweets she published after being “raped” by Julian Assange:

‘Julian wants to go to a crayfish party, anyone have a couple of available seats tonight or tomorrow? #fb’

‘Sitting outdoors at 02:00 and hardly freezing with the world’s coolest smartest people, it’s amazing! #fb’

She subsequently deleted and tried to expunge those. I doff my hat to Rixstep:

For another avowed feminist trying to bring Assange down, analyse the use of language in this article by the Guardian’s useless Helen Piddle. For a worm like her to use words like bizarre and raggle-taggle in relation to John Pilger really defies rationality.

Being a feminist myself I am disgusted at the violent patriarchy’s abuse of feminism for it’s own ends, in creating support for two wars and in this persecution of a man who is obviously 100% SNAG.

I find it hard however to fully condemn the women and feminists themselves. Rape is one of those issues that is hard to see straight on, most especially for those who have experienced it and the statistics on that are still very high. It is the power of rape as a psychological torture and real trauma that comes back to haunt the victim every time the subject is raised. Rape turns a vibrant living being with rights into a worthless lump of flesh to be arbitrarily punished for some slight misbehaviour.

As in most cases of alleged rape all the same old excuses and slander are made on behalf of the man and for many rape victimes it is simply the same trauma repeating over and over again.

Perhaps if I had not taken an interest in the Wikileaks project well before now, if I had not familiarised myself with many of Assange’s public appearances, writing, and values, I would also be tempted to react to the case as they do.

Assange however is not under investigation for rape. It is a poor translation of an expression “sex by surprise” which normally carries a fine of less than 1000 Euros!

The way the prosecutor’s office has behaved makes it more than obvious that this is an old fashioned stitch up. It would be better to aim the critical thinking at the dodgey behaviour of the Swedish authorities than to attack the women involved who may well be patsies in this case and just as much a victim of corrupt government manipulation as Assange himself.

    @Angrysoba

    “And why “crocodile” wife?”

It’s a conspiraloon thing. Mohammed Al Fayed called Camilla a “crocodile wife …”

    Ha! Thanks.

  • LOL

“The way the prosecutor’s office has behaved makes it more than obvious that this is an old fashioned stitch up.”

Compromat to discredit Assange or fake compromat followed by vindication thus “proving” Assange’s bona fides. It can be read either way.

  • dreoilin

What are you afraid of Alfred/LOL? Do you feel obliged to come back with a faux “clean slate” every so often?

  • angrysoba

“Compromat to discredit Assange or fake compromat followed by vindication thus “proving” Assange’s bona fides. It can be read either way.”

Or maybe it is genuine Kompromat to make it seem to very astute bloggers that it must be fake Kompromat and the authorities are playing a game of triple bluff.

It can be read each of those ways.

Or wait, maybe it is fake Kompromat to look like real Kompromat disguised as fake Kompromat in order to convince people that a different group is responsible for Kompromat than is actually responsible. Maybe it is the CIA’s efforts to smear Mossad. Or Mossad’s to smear the CIA. Or maybe the NKVD never went away and the Soviet Union still exists with “cosmetic” ordinary-looking authoritarian government concealing the “hard state” Politburo beneath and Julian Assange is an NKVD agent who organized fake Kompromat to make it look like a stitch-up and bring down Western Democracy through the Achilles Heel of Public Distrust and demands for Transparency.

    It’s just as likely.

I certainly didn’t intend having sex with an old lover when she visited, a good year after she’d dumped me, “just to discuss things”. We’d had a few drinks, then she made advances, more and more aggressively, and I kept saying “No!”, but she actually chased me around the room – used force, pushed me down. After a while, I succumbed. She seemed humorous about it, but she was serious – and so was I – I didn’t want to have sex with her. But she was insistent, and got what she wanted anyway. Was I raped? I don’t think so. Coerced a bit, maybe. Could I have made a case for it in Sweden, particularly if the gender roles were reversed?

  • Clark

The mainstream ranters that call for Assange’s prosecution, assassination, etc; are any of them shouting about the Swedish allegations, or is it just the media?

  • glenn

I’m glad at least one person picked up on that! Thanks, Angry! Making it double-spaced would have completely given it away. Heh!

But what about Hector’s Heel? And Ajax, who became paranoid about Achilles and began to whip a dead sheep? Eventually, loverboy archer Paris killed Achilles.

Ah, to work like a Trojan and in the end, it all comes to nothing! A horse, a horse…

I was always with the Trojans… and the Carthaginians. Elephants in the Roman sitting-rrom. !Hannibal Rules OK!

Speaking of the NKVD, I’m sure I spotted Beria walking down the street… but then I saw it was just an old woman with a bulky overcoat and a furry hat. But she had an evil glint in her eye. Perhaps it was Glenn’s old lover.

    (!)

  • angrysoba

” Perhaps it was Glenn’s old lover.”

The question is, would you want an old lover to remove her teeth or keep them in?

“I worry that the Internet will become a sentient being soon. Like SkyNet in Terminator.

What I fear most of all is that the Internet will not be a benign sentient being but a deeply confused paranoid and resentful entity – the sum of all the dark, fearful fantasies of its users.

I think we might need to prepare the Kill Switch!”

Interesting to see your viewpoint. Yet others express their hope that the internet can rid us of tyranny.

“[Anna] Ardin has moved to the West Bank in the Palestinian Territories, as part of a Christian outreach group, aimed at bringing reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis.

    [snip]

A recent [Ardin] tweet appears to extend support to WikiLeaks, after financial agencies withdrew their services, reading “Mastercard, Visa and Paypal??”?hit it, now!”

One source from Ardin’s old university of Uppsala reported rumours that she had stopped co-operating with the prosecution service several weeks ago, and that this was part of the reason for the long delay in proceeding with charges??”?and what still appears to be an absence of charges.”

    crikey.com.au/2010/12/09/rundle-r-pe-case-complainant-has-left-sweden-may-have-ceased-co-operating/

    Curiouser and curiouser….

“Interesting to see your viewpoint. Yet others express their hope that the internet can rid us of tyranny.”

    I’m joking.

The point is that the evil powers that be essentially created the Internet and now, in this time of unprecedented access to knowledge, there are people here who are convinced that their access to knowledge is under almost unprecedented suppression.
