Out of Fashion 18

I am delighted that Gulnara Karimova has been kicked out of New York fashion week. The world of super wealth and glamour has no conscience, but it does have brands to protect. It seems that it is the stark truths about Gulnara in some of the leaked Wikileaks US diplomatic cables of Jon Purnell that have finally put a bump in her career of schmoozing with the A-list.

Strangely, my statcounter shows that for the last few days I have had a good number of different people arriving on this site from google searches for variations of “Gulnara Karimova’s height” or “How tall is Gulnara Karimova?”

I haven’t worked out what has prompted this. I should like to think it is some plan involving telegraph poles and piano wire.

    As I said before:-

“– you are now “free” and speak your own “truths” and are respected for that.
Aluta continua! The global struggle of honesty, decency and integrity continues.”

You were rigth when you then spoke the truth against the Karimova regime.

Yu contineu to be respected for what you are doing. I don’t know to what extent global consciousness can be raised to impact global policy changes – or – what amounts to critical mass to bring the world into a realm of pursuit of sanity and peace – yet – as far away as the noble goals may be – press on Craig Murray. You held high office; you have spoken truthfully; you voice carries weight.

As you will see – my post supra has typos – forgive me – the strength of my expressed feelings may serve to assist in my beggging for forgiveness while fully supportng what Murray is doing.

I just read the Daily Mail article, I was happy to note that the DM doesn’t go easy on the Uzbek regime. Although I did vomit a little in my mouth when I read that Gulnara has her own fashion label (Guli) and has released music with Julio Iglesias under the stage name GooGoosha. Thankfully virtually all the youtube comments I read for the GooGoosha clips were derogatory.
    .
Craig, I’m guessing all the people searching for Gulnara’s height are landing on the ‘Parasite News’ post where you talk about her height and make fun of Nathaniel Rothschild. I hope this is the case, because that post made me laugh a lot.

Um, suggesting a lynching even in jest is really not funny, especially when it’s a member of a privileged group (in this case a man) saying it about a member of a less privileged group (in this case a woman.) Doesn’t matter what she’s done, and I am not disputing your characterisation of the Uzbek regime – this is out of order not because of how it affects her, but because of how it contributes to a general atmosphere of disdain for women and disregard for due process.

The height of a person is the key determinant in assessing what the size python is required to eat them whole.

    Liz W:
    .
You’re suggesting Craig is more privileged than Gulnara simply because of their sexes? Are you serious? Is a homeless man more privileged than Hilary Clinton? Do you see all women as eternal victims of evil men?
    .
A joke is a joke. Seriously, don’t try so hard to take offence.

    Liz W,

No man may ever criticise any woman? I am more privileged than Gulnara karimova? I feel your thoughts require some clarification.

More fatuous than anything even CanSpeccy can come up with and I suspect that CanSpeccy does it deliberately.

Well, I was directed here from a posting on Media Lens, if that helps. Please don’t give up blogging, lots of folks are desperate for some truth in amongst all the propaganda.

Aha – the old Liberal Democrat decapitation strategy, eh?

  • Teresa May but George Won't

“Those who make the wrong decision, who engage in criminality, must be identified, arrested and punished, and we will make sure that happens”. Teresa May, 11th August.

“The United Kingdom further states that the criminal prosecution of bank employees due to participation in tax offences is highly unlikely” Clause in UK-Swiss tax deal agreed by George Osborne 23rd August.

Sorry but from any standpoint I would think joking/advocating extra-judicial killings is wrong.
The force of law should be the starting point, however flawed it is I would prefer it over the lynch mob.

  • craig Post author

    Paul,

If you made a rule that you can never joke about anything actually doing which is wrong, you would wipe out a great deal of humour from the world – and a safety valve.

    “How tall is Gulnara Karimova?”
    .
In Uzbekistan she is as tall as she wants to be. If she is not happy with her actual height this can be re-arranged and few inches can be removed or added officially.
    .
One wonders how would she appear in New York when few years back the US Court sanctioned her arrest over the custody of her and her husband’s children. Has this Court order been now removed or forgotten? Or is Gulnara abusing diplomatic immunity convention?

    @Craig
I make no rules for others (either I’m a liberal or an anarchists) but as I said “from my standpoint” I would not joke/advocate such a thing.
You are of course totally free to say what you want, when you want, how you want just I find it a little disappointing that you would say it like that.
A safety valve is to mock or belittle a powerful person not to advocate a brutal death.
How I feel is of course neither here nor there but I just thought I could not let it go.

Meant to ask did you ever get a translation of those documents http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2011/08/emperor-maharajah-singh/
Just got a Persian lesson tomorrow and my teacher said we should look a calligraphy so I might try one of those as my homework.

    I said “from my standpoint”

    You said “from any standpoint”

I just thought I could not let it go.

    You don’t say.

You’re not American, are you? The distinction between judicial (ok) and extra-judicial (not ok) killings suggest you might be.
