I know this looks like an unrelated strand, but I don’t think it is. The US acts now in supreme arrogance as though it is above all other countries’ laws, let alone local senses of morality given they have none of their own. They can go after and urinate on anyone they choose,… anywhere. Assassination squads in Pakistan or Iran – Oh that’s ok – Washington or Langley will sign it off if anyone whinges. Naughty student at university in Sheffield England – we’ll have him. Naughty squaddie who blows whistle to Wikileaks – we’ll give him a good kicking.

Does the UK have nothing to say about this student apart from waving him goodbye at the airport? I hope they dress him in orange and chain him up so everyone sees this for what it is.

Now the US music industry (presumably RIAA or IFPI driven) is suing the Republic of Ireland for inciting copyright infringement http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2137237/music-industry-suing-ireland

Thanks for that. But I think that the presence and influence of Judaism chameleoning into polytheism from all directions is evident in the Gospels. Its presence took control of the western world, as it does today, in the back seat. So I’m sticking with my idea that Zionism = materialism.

Shaker Aamer, the last remaining Briton at legal black hole, Guantanamo Bay, confirms that an MI5 agent was present when his head was repeatedly banged against a wall.
    .
Shaker’s lawyer, Mr Stafford Smith, has said that his client’s interview notes taken on a previous occasion have been banned from the eyes of Foreign Secretary William Hague by a US military panel.
    .
Has Hague got the balls to disregard evidence that may exonerate his client and apply further pressure on Obama who promised to close the hell hole in 2010.
    .
    I doubt it!

I see that Andrew Neil now presents all BBC television political programming apart from Question Time.

Where would the state broadcasting corporation be without right wing sexist millionaire Andrew Neil, and the extreme right wing racist Jeremy Clarkson?
    .
I mean Hitler is dead, so who would they employ? Perhaps Nick Griffin will be looking for a new job soon?

Neil has just had Poison Gove on as his first interviewee on Sunday Politics.

    Corroboration of the published data about the unholy trinity of rats knackers;Fox Werrity Gould, on this blog, is found echoed in the words of this tosser;
Moshe Ya’alon, Israel’s vice prime minister, contrasted the administration’s posture to that of France and Britain, which he said “are taking a very firm stand and understand sanctions must be imposed immediately”.

“Extreme right wing racist Jeremy Clarkson”…
In psycho-babble probation-speak Clarkson projects his own guilt onto innocent third parties. We should feel sorry for him.
He is the one who needs to get a life, grow up and sort out his head. Fortunately I don’t have a TV but I’ve seen some WANTED posters around with his face on them. Reward 5p.

“Austere Challenge” was billed as largest such drill in country’s history; officials cite technical, logistical issues.
    .
Israel and the US canceled a missile defense drill, billed as the largest ever in the country’s history, planned for the spring, senior military officials said Sunday.
    .
Initially scheduled for April and called “Austere Challenge,” the drill was supposed to see the deployment of thousands of US troops and various sophisticated US military equipment in Israel.

Joint US-Israel drill postponed to ‘defuse Iran tensions’
    .
Israeli officials say Americans asked to postpone mass exercise meant to test air-defense capabilities to avoid escalation of tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program
    .

A major joint Israel-US military drill, which was set to take place in a few weeks time with the participation of thousands of IDF and US army soldiers, has been postponed by at least six months, Ynet reported Sunday
    .
The decision was made by Defense Ministry officials in coordination with the Pentagon.
    .
A number of global media outlets said the exercise will likely take place in the summer – at the earliest.
    .
Israeli officials said the Americans asked to delay the drill so as not to heighten tensions with Iran over its nuclear program and avoid drawing any additional attention from the Arab countries during such a turbulent period.
    .
Security establishment officials said the decision was also related, in part, to budgetary concerns…

Makes you jaw drop, but then what do you expect in AMERICA!!!

Rick Perry, says US Marines videotaped urinating on dead Taliban fighters in Afghanistan are just an example of “kids” being kids.

Obviously 18, 19-year-old kids make stupid mistakes all too often and that’s what’s occurred here,” Perry said in an interview with CNN on Sunday.

The Texan Governor also accused the US President Barack Obama’s administration of “over-the-top rhetoric” and “disdain for the military” in their condemnation of the incident.”

“These kids made a mistake, there’s not any doubt about it. They shouldn’t have done it, it’s bad – but to call it a criminal act, I think is over the top,” Perry added. “

Just one of the many problems of modern, corporate, mass, journalism is that it’s making war so much easier to get away with. The censorship of effects of warfare plays an important role in legitimizing war and making it an accpetable option for politicians.

And now, once again, we’re going to war. This time with Iran, though the stupidity, criminality, and absolutely unecessary nature of the coming conflict… beggars belief.

We are, of course, already at war with Iran and have been for years… economically at war with them, slowly trying to strangle Iran economically… which is usually the first step towards the start of a real, shooting war.

The task for our leaders is to find a plausible excuse for attacking Iran, and they’ve been preparing the ground for years. Obama is the perfect salesman, why he was chosen in the first place. He can get away with it, because he obviously doesn’t look like yet another; dumb, old, inarticulate, white, grey-haired, millionaire Republican, warmonger; which people wrongly assume means that he’s different. When in reality he’s the same sick product in a different, new, and shiny, box.

But if our “democratic” leaders are ruthless, criminal, bloodthirsty, hypocritical, lying, mass-murdering… swines… what does this tell us about the true character of our society, institutions, and culture?

Still silence from Micky Arison, Chairman and CEO Carnival Corporation, ultimate owners of Costa Cruises, in spite of the confirmed death of five passengers and that 15 others are still unaccounted for. The media including the BBC give the idea that the ship was operated by Costa Grociere, viz
    .
‘The ship’s operator, Costa Crociere, said the vessel had been following its regular course on the first day of a Mediterranean cruise when it hit a submerged rock.’
    .
    and
    .
‘The president of Costa Cruises, Gianni Onorato, said the company would “be working in full transparency with Italian authorities” to understand the causes of the disaster.’

    .
and say nothing about the ultimate ownership of the ship.

I think that Arison should have expressed concern and given his condolences.

We don’t “deserve” the governments we get, on the contrary. That would imply that we have a choice of governments, between competing potential governments/parties, when we don’t.
    .
In Britain, as in the USA, a clear majority of the population are against these ghastly imperialists wars, don’t support the western “crusade” for freedom aimed at the Muslim world, and don’t want to go to war with Iran. Yet, in the UK, as in the US, the politicians are overwhelmingly behind the war policy. Not only are they totally ignoring the people, they don’t give a damn about what the people think. The War Party is firmly in control in the United States and their is no political opposition. There is no possibility of voting against the government and avoiding war. And this system, (laughingly called democracy, supposedly so different from the system in Iran, and one of the reasons we are going to war, to protect our values and way of life) is labeled “deomcracy.”

    :
It isn’t democracy at all. In the US, and increasingly in the UK, we live under a form of dictatorship, where the three parties are all “conservative”, have virtually indistinguishible economic and foreign policies, and the people have no voice, no alternative, and most importantly no power.

About the only hope of stopping the UK following the US into war with Iran would be a national strike to paralysed society and bring down the government, and even then that might not work, because the UK government would ignore the strike, call it, “undemocratic”, declare martial law, and they’ed probably go to war anyway, because the ruling elite in the UK is more loyal to the Washington empire, than it is to its own people.

I think the era of classic, bourgeois, liberal, democracy; is over. The era of perpetual war has arrived, and it isn’t compatible with democracy, even the controlled, bourgeois, variety; which despite its faults, was better than nothing. But, alas, all things pass.
    .
The age of austerity and perpetual war don’t leave much room for debate or democracy, as the UK’s development shows to perverse perfection, where one has a “choice” between three rival conservative political factions, and, more importantly, no real alternatives are allowed or debated.

The media are little more than a propaganda ministry. This is because all the wars are about stratgic advantage and resources, mainly energy supplies, access to, and most importantly, control of them, and the routes to mover energy around the globe. But we can’t send young men to war for energy, so we’ve invented a fairytale about the terrorist threat and Muslims extremists to divert attention from the truth. The fairytale will suffice for now, until we are so far down the road to dictatorship and so used to war that the reasons won’t matter. The end game is war with, (if their regimes don’t get toppled is some other way), Russia and China, because we want to control these vast potential markets, and the vast resources of Eurasia for ourselves. That this western grand strategy is insane, doesn’t matter too much.

  • Guest

“because we want to control these vast potential markets, and the vast resources of Eurasia for ourselves.”
    .
Wrong!. Its all about control of what is left of global resources for the few, to ensure their futures, their wealth, their power. There is no “ourselves”, its now everyone for themselves.

“The fascist US society has been long in the making, ever since the day after the end of WWII. Operation “paper clip” translocated more than experts and their body of knowledge, it also exported the NAZI weltanschauung albeit a much more refined and tweaked version.”
    .
The above idea is based on having blanks in the knowledge of early 20th century history. What the Nazis did was to efficiently realise ideas and reproduce practices that were already present and well-regarded in the West. Plus, there is no evidence that after WW2 the Nazis inspired Americans to do anything. There was nothing originally Nazi to be exported someplace else.

Writeon : I still say that we deserve the government we get, there might not be any difference between the 3 main parties, but do we have to vote for any of the 3 main parties? they are main parties because election after election we have voted for them and have made them the “3 main parties”. We have hardly any independent or Green party members in parliament. If the people in the Arab world can have spring (even though it might take years for them to actually achieve democracy), we are in a much better place to have our own “spring”

You have a choice to form new political parties, or stand as independent candidates on the elections. You might form think-tanks as well.

From Three Against Hitler, by Rudi Wobbe and Jerry Borrowman:
    .
“Near our home was a shoe store, owned and run by a Jew. Even before 1933 his store windows and swastikas had been painted on the walls and door. But, after the “takeover,” the Nazis demolished his store in broad daylight. They broke all the windows, threw the merchandise onto the sidewalk, and dragged the proprietor and his wife and two children into the street. They started beating and cursing them, all the while calling them dirty names and shouting that they weren’t fit to live among the exalted German, Aryan people. The greatest indignity of all is that after the family was lying in the gutter in agony, the Nazis urinated on them. I was only seven years of age when this took place, but I remember it vividly.”
