The Troodos Conundrum 433

troodos2

The GCHQ listening post on Mount Troodos in Cyprus is arguably the most valued asset which the UK contributes to UK/US intelligence cooperation.  The communications intercept agencies, GCHQ in the UK and NSA in the US, share all their intelligence reports (as do the CIA and MI6).  Troodos is valued enormously by the NSA.  It monitors all radio, satellite and microwave traffic across the Middle East, ranging from Egypt and Eastern Libya right through to the Caucasus.  Even almost all landline telephone communication in this region is routed through microwave links at some stage, picked up on Troodos.

Troodos is highly effective – the jewel in the crown of British intelligence.  Its capacity and efficiency, as well as its reach, is staggering.  The US do not have their own comparable facility for the Middle East.  I should state that I have actually been inside all of this facility and been fully briefed on its operations and capabilities, while I was head of the FCO Cyprus Section in the early 1990s.  This is fact, not speculation.

It is therefore very strange, to say the least, that John Kerry claims to have access to communications intercepts of Syrian military and officials organising chemical weapons attacks, which intercepts were not available to the British Joint Intelligence Committee.

On one level the explanation is simple.  The intercept evidence was provided to the USA by Mossad, according to my own well  placed source in the Washington intelligence community.  Intelligence provided by a third party is not automatically shared with the UK, and indeed Israel specifies it should not be.

But the inescapable question is this.  Mossad have nothing comparable to the Troodos operation.  The reported content of the conversations fits exactly with key tasking for Troodos, and would have tripped all the triggers.  How can Troodos have missed this if Mossad got it?  The only remote possibility is that all the conversations went on a purely landline route, on which Mossad have a physical wire tap, but that is very unlikely in a number of ways – not least nowadays the purely landline route.

Israel has repeatedly been involved in the Syrian civil war, carrying out a number of illegal bombings and missile strikes over many months.  This absolutely illegal activity by Israel- which has killed a great many civilians, including children – has brought no condemnation at all from the West.  Israel has now provided “intelligence” to the United States designed to allow the United States to join in with Israel’s bombing and missile campaign.

The answer to the Troodos Conundrum is simple.  Troodos did not pick up the intercepts because they do not exist.  Mossad fabricated them.  John Kerry’s “evidence” is the shabbiest of tricks.  More children may now be blown to pieces by massive American missile blasts.  It is nothing to do with humanitarian intervention.  It is, yet again, the USA acting at the behest of Israel.

Obama is apparently seeking approval from Congress before striking Syria. Why? Possible answers:

    1. He wants to show Cameron how it’s done.

    2. He doesn’t actually want to do it, and thinks he can do a Cameron.

Any alternative theories, let’s have them!

“Calling Craig’s judgement in linking to stories into question with the closing remark “Either my assessment of infowars as a fucking joke or you as a wise man is fucked” deserved a reply with the same sharp, plain-speaking tone.”

Hi Jemand, very good indeed to see you back!

Thank you for reinforcing a point i made yesterday. Yes tact and diplomacy are essential if conflicts are to be resolved. These strident ‘revolutionaries’ need to ‘get that’. In the end the fella spent seven hours micro-arguing his case, was none the wiser and only earned himself a second rebuke. He’s obviously quite articulate but what good is that without simple grace, tact and flexibility of mind to see the whole reality?

    See you around more.

PS. Alternative 3: he wants Congress to share the responsibility for his decision, just in case.

Alternative 4: he wants to be democratic. Fair enough, he’s a Democrat leading a democracy, after all.

Ignore the “shower of shills”. They are there to divert from the main focus, which in these dangerous days needs to be maintained. See my previous comment.

Abe (10:19am, today). Well, the US political, intelligence and military class is divided over this, and there is overwhleming public opposition in the USA right now to military intervention in Syria. And yes, your item 2) seems likely. There are divisions, though, so there will be some pushing in every way possible for strikes. Maybe the Israel lobby has something to do wi, maybe the Saudis too.

Thanks Wikispooks at 7.00 am. There is this spurious Dr Zola and the equally spurious report in yesterday’s Guardian which probably prompted this blog-post we are now commenting on and linked yesterday by Ben Franklin.

To my mind it is as reliable as all the shit Ahmed Chalabi provided about weapons of mass destruction to US intelligence for propagating the illegal war on Iraq. These evil warmongers are no longer credible in any of their news stories. Anybody remember the fable “The boy who cried wolf”?

“Later Friday night, Mr. Obama told aides the decision reflected his growing frustration with lawmakers who appeared to want to have it both ways—criticizing the president for not seeking congressional authorization, and then criticizing the decisions he makes.

“House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) had sent a letter to Mr. Obama demanding more consultation with Congress and asking the White House to clearly lay out the goals of a military mission in advance. Other Republicans, including Sen. John McCain of Arizona, have said Mr. Obama’s plans for a limited strike didn’t go far enough. And still other lawmakers, including a sizable minority of Mr. Obama’s own party in Congress, have expressed opposition to any intervention in Syria.

“Current and former officials said Mr. Obama wanted to force Congress to make the decision so lawmakers own it as much as the president does.”

Well now fucking Rifkind has been pulled out by the propagandist in the bbc. Evidently democracy means parliament will vote over and over again until they vote yes to attack on Syria! Democracy! dunchyou just luv it’s smell?

Meanwhile the zionistan rags are all indignant that their attack dog US has not gone and bit Assad on the arse, on seeking it. This shit cannot be made up even in a B movie plot.

“But it is surely no coincidence that both Obama and Kerry have made a point of reiterating time and time again that in advocating a strong response to Syria, the U.S. is looking out for Israel and its interests, by preventing the proliferation of chemical weapons and by sending a strong signal to Iran about its nuclear plans.

Supporters of Israel will likely be told that at this critical juncture, neutrality is a luxury that neither the lobby nor the Administration can afford. Time to put up or shut up, get off the fence and spend some of the precious political capital that Israel supporters have amassed in order to fight in the Washington trenches for something that most Israelis contend is crucial to their national interests.” [from Haaretz, concluding an article advocating an attack on Syria]

So, this journalist seem to be arguing that the President and Secretary of State of the USA are acting primarily in the interests of Israel. Wishful thinking? More pressure? Or fact?

    Thanks Villager

Three times since Craig re-appeared I have made the same mistake. Looking at the page, wondering where everyone was, not realising that Craig had posted a new thread … heh, he’s making up for lost time!

Gas logic?!! Putin – utter nonsense Rifkind – compelling evidence, with mossad “mavi marmara type chat” thrown in the JIC Report.

My take – facts:- 1429 gas fatalities+3600 gas injured, carried out over an hour,at night, simultaneously over various rebel held locations.

NO WAY an Assad aerial attack over half an hour or so would deliver enough gas to cause such casualties, simply IMPOSSIBLE for even a massive combined aircraft ,artillery AND rocket attack. JIC Israeli “mavi marmara type intercept” FAKE, therefore !

KEY POINT – If not by Assad, THEN if “attack” made simultaneously over various rebel held territories clearly means it was a PLANNED and orchestrated FALSE FLAG using gas stockpiled on the ground.QED,simple.

  • Dreoilin

    From the WSJ

“You have to win the vote. You have to win,” one senior administration official said after the decision was disclosed. “If Congress doesn’t let him act, the consequences for him and for the country’s standing in the world are enormous.”

I think Obama and certain “lawmakers” in the U.S. are far more concerned about 1) Obama’s “legacy” and 2) America’s “standing in the world”, than either of them are about dead Syrian children.

“For the last 4 days there has been a sustained attack on one of the only reliable news outlets, Global Research”

Global research site is still down now. John if you read the article can you recall did it say it was a dos (denial of service) attack?

  • Krishnamurky

One more thing, if FAKE Israeli intercept was communicated “live” (and not contrived after the fact), CLEAR CULPABILITY of their involvement in the false flag, sheesh?!! The devils killed 400 children to draw the Romans (yet again) into killing the “Son of Man” !! Devils !!!

Dreolin (10:54am, today), thanks, that’s an excellent, and very detailed article to which you linked, authored by Sharmine Narwani in the ‘MidEast Shuffle’ (originally published in Al Akhbar English). I too would recommend it to everyone. Consider sharing it widely. I shall. Here it is again, in case anyone missed it:

    http://mideastshuffle.com/2013/08/31/bandar-ibn-israel/

As I’ve been asking for many months, here and elsewhere:

    “Where is Prince Bandar
    Does anyone have his number?”

    Now you see why.

  • John Goss

Phil, sorry, no. And I can’t find a stub. Any safe search engines? The article begins:

“In the course of the last few days, the Global Research website has been subjected to persistent threats with a view to blocking access to independent reports on”

Actually, a friend linked it, and I could not get in. When I mentioned it was down she said it was working an hour ago.

  • Dreoilin

“I too would recommend it to everyone. Consider sharing it widely. I shall.”

Yes indeed, Suhayl. I was thinking to myself that it’s the kind of info definitely not available/provided to ‘Sky News’ watchers. And fascinating about said Prince Bandar.

  • John Goss

Suhayl and Dreolin I agree it is a very well researched article which points out the Suadi Arabia and Israel would apparently be the two main beneficiaries of any bombing of Syria.

  • wikispooks

Thanks to Mary and others for the ‘Dr Rola’ info. I have put a WIP banner + brief info up on the page for now and will get around to revamping it as and when. I would still like to know her background because, when bound by the Hippocratic oath, advocating for partisan military involvement in a viscous civil war has to have an explanation other than altruism. Is her ‘tribal’ loyalty (for want of a better word) Maronite, Sunni or Jewish? – Shia/Alawite must surely be a non-starter. When did she arrive in the UK (or was she born here) because there is absolutely no trace of a non-English accent to my ear? Is her partisan involvement born of innocence/gullibility about the West’s motives being as altruistic as her own, or is there something else going on? — hmmm. Put yourself in front of the cameras in the way she has done and such questions become both inevitable and important. Anyway, any help with rehashing the page welcome.

Also, I have posted that Bandar Ibn Israel article reference by Dreolin, together with a comment and the full, allegedly leaked ‘diplomatic report’ referenced in the article. My guess is that the Wikispooks livery renders the articles more credible to Western readers than the Al-Akhbar livery of the original – FWIW. I agree, the article is among the most plausible I have read on what is really going on in the ME right now.

My enthusiasms/psychological fortitude in face of all the crap we have to deal with waxes and wanes like Craig’s seems to – and please bare with the odd silly typos – I get a bit dyslexic when in full flow.
