Cupar 132

Tonight’s meeting is upstairs at Watts of Cupar (Fife) 7pm. I have been astonished by the wave of popular enthusiasm and above all by the incredible meld of social media activism and old-fashioned street campaigning. The mainstream media have no idea what is going on as, on the rare occasions they try to cover a Yes happening, they are utterly thrown by the absence of men in suits to interview.

The other quite astonishing thing is the level of political radicalism at all the events I have attended. The world should pay attention to Robin McAlpine. In my view, Robin has the ability to become one of the most important contemporary political philosophers not just in Scotland, but in the World. His ideas of future political and social co-operation in more useful forms of economic transaction, and of politics without party structure, are profound. When the campaigning dies down I will discuss further.

Nobody wants simply to repeat Westminster corporate power structures in Scotland. There is a movement happening here which is truly revolutionary and feels like nothing I have experienced in my life before. I am deeply moved. If we achieve independence, it truly will be the victory of the people, not the politicians.

Postscript

An encounter at the Wellgate Centre Dundee today captured a key aspect of the campaign for me. An old lady refused to take one of our Yes leaflets. She said she was Labour, and that she had been told by the Labour Party that if Independence came, we would let all the foreigners in. I have no doubt she was telling the truth.

The Labour Party – running a Tory funded campaign against the people to try to hang on to their Westminster jobs, and resorting to the racist tactics of UKIP. An absolute moral disgrace.

Has it been noticed that Gaza has been totally excised from the corporate media’s memory?

ZBC even have the nerve to have a piece dated 27th August about Netanyahu declaring his war’a victory’ on their ME page.

    What about the reparations ZBC?

“she had been told by the Labour Party that if Independence came, we would let all the foreigners in”

The worst part of this is that it is such an out and out lie – it is Labour that likes letting foreigners in!

Who appointed Fairhead – Religion Judaism. ?

    A. Sajid Javid Culture Secretary He is a member of Conservative Friends of Israel. They have paid for two trips to Israel and another to Australia for him!!

    http://www.theyworkforyou.com/regmem/?p=24854

    ‘Big job

The appointment was ultimately decided by The Queen on a recommendation from Culture Secretary Sajid Javid.Mr Javid described Mrs Fairhead as an “exceptional” individual with a “highly impressive career”.
“Her experience of working with huge multinational corporations will undoubtedly be a real asset at the BBC Trust,” he said.
“I have no doubt she will provide the strong leadership the position demands and will prove to be a worthy champion of licence fee payers.’

“I am sure that under Rona’s leadership the BBC will continue to play a central role in informing, educating and entertaining the nation.”

A quick web search shows that Neil Masterson, the man accused of beating up George Galloway, is a rabid Zionist upholder of Jewish racism.

He’s charged with religiously motivated assault.

That charge is for obvious reasons likely to be dropped.

Here‘s the kind of thing a person who gave his name as ‘Neil Masterson’ is on record as saying:

I want to get out on the streets of London and, with defiant and dignified pride, show my support for Israel… Can someone tell me where?” (14 August)

The pride that Jews and Israelis have in their armed forces – the peerless IDF – and their state, theyre whole idea of nationhood is a shining example to us all, just how successful a society can be… I truly salute all Jews and Israelis – theyre the envy of the world…” (14 August)

“It’s not possible to be a decent person and vote no and we shouldn’t be ashamed of saying that”

Some would say that is a moral disgrace as well.

  • Resident Dissident

@Mary “I quite agree. Waste of good eggs.”

Some would also say that punching Galloway would also be a waste of good energy – but both acts constitute an assault. Perhaps Mary would let us know where she draws the line between assaults that she is prepared to crack jokes (or even crack yolks) about and those that she doesn’t – does it just depend on the victim? Where does she stand on BDS demonstrators terrifying shop staff when they trash a shop or Stop the City demonstrators doing the same when the smash windows.?

Maybe this is a naive question, but one thing that has struck me about the independence debate is how seemingly desperate the ruling elite in London are to hold on to the Union. Why is this? It can’t be just the oil money. Is it wounded pride? Or is it just that no Mafia Don likes to have his power base challenged? Or something else? Thoughts anyone?

Also, is there a chance that if the Yes vote wins those same ruling elites in London might just try and fuck the newly independent Scotland up out of spite?

  • Mary

The ex chair of LFoI was not injured.

    Mr Galloway was badly injured.

You can fuck off too with your censorious tone. Who the hell do you think you are Eslo/RD?

Suggest you direct your tutorial to the Zionist fanatic Mr Masterton.

“The worst part of this is that it is such an out and out lie – it is Labour that likes letting foreigners in!”

Not a lie Techno, a misrepresentation. One of those he said she said he said Chinese whispers being bandied about for propaganda purposes.

The fact is that if Scotland were to become independent they would encourage immigrant labour. There is nothing wrong with that, it’s simple economics, Scotland has a high proportion of elderly people, without immigrant workers paying taxes the welfare budget would not add up.

So we don’t know what the Labour representative actually said to the woman and we can’t be too sure about what the woman said to Craig. That she was bigoted and would let the thought of immigrants influence her decision I can well believe, there are a lot of bigoted people around. That it should reflect on the No campaign? … No.

I have just switched Sky News on for Murnaghan. Who should he have on first on the subject of control orders? Hazel Blears, another Friend of Israel in the BRITISH parliament and known fraudster on her second home repeat flipping. A paragon of rectitude would like to see more Muslims banged up. She wants control orders brought back to replace St Theresa’s TPIMs.

I see she picked up £5,000 in May from the very democratic government of Bahrain.
    http://www.theyworkforyou.com/regmem/?p=10048

£4,000 pa as ‘Adviser to Juice Advisory, providing strategic advice on crime and policing matters, for one day per quarter from 1 January 2013.’ ??

So we can take it that you are happy to condone assaults of Friends of Israel providing that they don’t result in injury? What do you classify as injury – does it have to be physical or would you count shock?

I have already made it clear that Mr Masterton’s actions constituted an assault and that he should now face the full legal consequences of his action. What we are exploring here are your views regarding how the law should be applied for assault.

I’m not sure all of the ruling elite in Westminster are too desperate for Scotland to remain in the Union. They are deft enough to turn the situation to their advantage as what the outcome of the referendum. Obviously the Scottish politicians at Westminster would rather be in London than Edinburgh, one good thing about the union is that we can ditch our biggest bastards on London, in an independent Scotland they would stay in Scotland.

I think there is a good chance an independent Scottish government would try and fuck the UK up out of spite.

  • Al Milliner

Let’s hope this assault on Mr Galloway doesn’t set back the production of his film any further.

  • Mary

No I am a contributor, financially and in other ways which are none of your bloody business.

  • Resident Dissident

@Fred “The fact is that if Scotland were to become independent they would encourage immigrant labour.”

This is open to interpretation – officially the Scottish Govt has said that following independence they would remain part of the CTA (with the rest of the UK and Ireland) and not join Schengen – which would mean sharing the same immigration rules as the rest of the CTA. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2013/11/5894/16

Craig and others however argue that immigration policy would change if Scotland became independent. We see exactly the same officially we say this but unofficially we will do this in a number of other areas from Yes campaigners (e.g. NATO and the Monarchy are two that come to mind but I guess that there are others) – perhaps those supporting a Yes vote might wish to comment on whether such an approach is consistent with normal democratic practice. As an outsider I do find this nod and a wink approach verging on the dishonest.

  • Resident Dissident

    Mary

The question was not about contributions – although I do hope you pay your taxes – but whether you are a beneficiary. You are the one who seems to argue that their can be no independence of thought from those who provide you with benefits – it seems somewhat unfair to apply this standard to Hazel Blears and many many others when you are not prepared to apply it to yourself with equal diligence.

  • Rob Royston

Do the comments on Facebook by Neil Masterson go back beyond August? I’m not on Facebook and just wondered if he could have been primed, only recently, to carry out this assault.

  • Resident Dissident

BTW Mary you still have not expounded as to where you believe the boundary lies between acceptable and unacceptable assault. Some of us believe all assaults and violence are unacceptable – you clearly don’t, so it is beholden on you to support you position by saying where you would redraw the boundary. Or perhaps you just believe the judgement should just be made according to the poltics of the assaultee?

I can only assume the endless flow of anti-establishment propaganda she puts up is because she is an agent provocateur or is trying to divert attention away from some even worse truths.

Within the dark corridor of world disorder and turmoil is a door to another path. And the people of Scotland hold the keys, a vital portal to a neoteric beginning promising hope for future generations.

First, we must prepare to write a constitution. The opportunity to build Scotland’s future on the basis of a written statement of what citizens may expect from their state, a constitution which ensures that as far as possible it is the citizen who shapes the future, that decentralises power, that sets out a path on which we can travel, this is a great opportunity. The Scottish Government has promised that it will be an open and inclusive process; this is greatly to be welcomed. We must hold them to their word – and then we must work tirelessly to fill the content of that constitution.
