Neo-Cons of the World Unite: You Have Nothing to Lose Except Your Slaves, Mansions and Huge Pots of Money 246

David Folkerts-Landau, Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank, who has claimed that Scotland would have a “Great Depression” if independent, has a second home he bought for US $11.6 million dollars. His first home is in London – where he would have been well-placed to notice that Deutsche Bank was at the very heart of the LIBOR interest rate fixing scandal. Naturally neither Folkerts-Landau (he and his wife are friends of the Camerons) nor any other senior banker was jailed for that long term criminal illegality.

Folkerts-Landau must, you might assume, have great powers of economic prediction to have accumulated a fortune of hundreds of millions of dollars from banking salary and bonuses. Yet he failed to notice that Deutsche Bank was running up 92 billion dollars of US sub-prime mortgage junk that would be written off in the actual great crash, in which Deutsche Bank was again in the centre. Why a man who failed to notice that his own work was contributing to an actual great depression, should be taken seriously in ridiculous prognostications of a new one, is rather beyond me.

It is interesting that Folkerts-Landau states that Winston Churchill’s return to the gold standard was a major cause of the great depression. From the German Deutsche bank, that dismissed its Jewish directors in 1933 and denounced Jewish employees, and received expropriated Jewish assets through direct cooperation with Hitler, this criticism of Winston Churchill might be thought culturally insensitive.

Folkerts-Landau is just another example of the super-rich who realise that the people-based movement for Scottish independence is currently the most potent threat to the neo-con hegemony that has resulted in the destruction of social-democratic society and the massive gap between the super-rich and real people. If you look at the other boards on which sit members of the board of Deutsche Bank, it reads like a catalogue of corporate dominance:

Coca Cola
Pepsi Cola
Microsoft
Accenture
IBM
Bayer
Daimler
EON Energy
Thyssen
XL Group
Alliance Trust
Bilfinger
BMW

That is an illustration of the fact that mega corporations are not really competitive, but part of an interlinked web of capital interests all sharing directors. Those interests have bombarded Scotland with apocalyptic threats the last few days. There will be a great depression, major businesses will leave, energy bills will go up, interest rates will go up, oil will run out, shopping bills will go up, call charges will go up, terrorists will run round unimpeded, Russia will invade. These nonsensical claims have been hammered home relentlessly in perhaps the most concentrated stream of mainstream media propaganda in history.

The extraordinary resilience of the Scottish people, in face of these ludicrous levels of threat and intimidation from “authority figures” like Folkerts-Landau, is something of which I am very, very proud.

Call me scum if you like, Habby, but you know these warmongers have form, going back to The Gulf of Tonkin. That goodness Harold Wilson had the good sense to keep us out of that particular conflict.

Any violent murder is very saddening, and condolences to David Haines’ family. Sadly, deaths of neutral observers and helpers in war zones is very much a reality, and not a clarion call for more killing. Please also the death of the Russian journalist in Ukraine who was supposedly in the custody of Ukrainian soldiers. I didn’t hear Putin “not ruling out airstrikes” on Ukraine, on this pretext. It would, of course, be ridiculous of him to do so.

Obama and Cameron now “shoulder to shoulder”. What a vision!

The Foley family aren’t going for ISIS in the media, they are going for Obama:

Dannatt, servant and enabler for our evil empire, (NI, Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan etc) has found a nice pad for himself as Constable of the Tower of London.

Apart from being Agent Cameron’s chosen one, he has lined up some lucrative positions as adviser to these outfits. In addition to his enormous army pension as CCGS of course.

    Register of Interests

Typhon. Seems he’s been acquired for $5.5m. That was a good deal!

Imeon Logistics I think they cart back all our junk from Afghanistan amongst other services.

Target Follow Property developer. Not such a good bet for Milord. Big debts and was nearly bust. I expect Joe Bloggs and myself are holding some of the banks’ paper on that one.

I see P Anne’s husband has a seat here alongside the chairman Dannatt.

Altogether a savvy ex CCGS not averse to producing some Bitter Together lies and propaganda at this late stage for his erstwhile boss Agent Cameron. The latter raced back from Chequers last night to deal with the latest IS theatric.

@Mary: We all know that the military-industrial complex pays handsomely. Sadly, Margaret Thatcher made us part of it. Any fool could invest in killing machines, but most of us refrain because (a) we have principles (b) we know that “what goes around comes around”. I wonder if these people’s consciences ever get to them…

Yes whatever did happen to Komodo’s synagogue protests? We last heard him recommending the formation of crowds of protesters outside UK synagogues. Block the entrances, we were advised, but move aside to allow Jews to enter and exit. Remain silent, but let them know your anger (presumably by fixing stares, scowling a lot and making hissing noises?).

Did the His Eminence Komodo carry out his plans or was he, as Habbabkuk suggests, “otherwise engaged”?

Mary Thank you for your reference to Peterloo, of course what you fail to mention is the ultimate success of the Chartist movement that grew out of the massacre – and how it suceeded by drawing together the true left throughout the United Kingdom.

    http://www.chartists.net/Scottish-Chartists.htm

Only the truly naïve fail to realise that should Scottish independence occur that the Tories will apply their usual divide and conquer techniques to the whole of the British Isles while Salmond and his ilk will whip up their even narrower nationalism while taking the crumbs from the tables of Murdoch and his friends. Some of us are old enough to remember when John Swinney was the Strategic Planning Principal to the poorly run Scottish Amicable in the 5 years before it was acquired by the Prudential – expect more of the same should independence occur.

    Habba

I suspect that the real reason why the “scum” feel no sympathy for David Haines is that he was helping refugees from their friend Assad in Turkey at the time he was seized. It is very inconvenient for their world view to acknowledge that there are those in the Middle East other than the despots and religious fanatics; who they can accept as they are both in unequivocal opposition to those that they see as the real enemy.

  • craig Post author

Cannot pretend I am at least worried about Dannatt in the Torygraph. First I suspect its massive picture of a coffin for a dead soldier will have the opposite of the intended effect, as will its reminder of all the Scottish soldiers who died for the neo-cons. Secondly both readers of the Torygraph in Scotland were already voting No.

  • Anon1

It doesn’t stop at merely not feeling sympathy for Mr Haines – they must promote the idea that his beheading was ‘staged’. Any evil committed by Islamists is first excused as caused by the West, and if that won’t wash it becomes a ‘false-flag’.

Did you have some sort of problem with me posting here Jives?

Did you judge maybe I was posting too much? How much am I allowed to post here Jives?

Or maybe you just don’t agree with the things I say. What am I allowed to say on your blog then Jives? If there are things I shouldn’t say on your blog then just tell me what they are.

I have been trying to be a good poster, I try hard not to call the other posters names, was there something else I was doing wrong? Do please tell me.

RD: you really are despicable. I’ve said twice on here how saddened I am, and I’ll ofer again, a third time, condolences to the Haines family. What I am even more saddened by is the ridiculous, in fact quite obscene, call to war because of the beheadings. ISIS, like all murderers, are disgusting. However, after 13 years of “shoulder-to-shoulderness” and the killing of millions of innocent civilians, has the “more killing” approach worked?

  • Je

Habbabkuk – just explain how the government’s grandstanding on IS helped David Haines? Telling the world you’re arming the Kurds – when they could have been quiet about it? All the media attempts to sound tough on IS as if Haines didn’t exist? Got anything to say apart from abuse?

They wrote him off. Yes they was nothing much they could do for him given their policies. But they did the opposite – everything to provoke IS. Maybe if they’d done less grandstanding he might not have been killed quite so soon – and maybe he would have. But why sham statements to the press about doing everything for him? A piece of their own popularity management – which is what really matters to them.

They didn’t care about Haines, they wrote him off and carried on regardless with their attempts to look tough on IS to appease the media. It was as if he didn’t exist. Lets call that what it was. Resigned indifference to Haines and media statements that were totally unhelpful to him (to put it mildly). All in order to appease the baying mob who fill up his Twitter with accusations of being a “weak fken cunt”. Cameron’s popularity has priority over hostages.

  • Just saying

FOR GODS SAKE ! the irgun had to bomb the King David and displace/kill 700,000 Palestinians to get their land in 1948, and they are still at it. As others have had to do throughout the world.

ALL THE SCOTS HAVE TO DO IS WALK INTO THE NEAREST POLLING BOOTH ON THE 18TH AND PUT AN X IN THE YES BOX !! NO BOMBING KING DAVID HOTEL, NO DEIR DUNBLANE MASSACRE,NO BRIGHTON BOMBING,NO AK-47,NO SEMTEX, NO NOTHING – just a graphite pencil !!

Anything LESS than an 80:20 YES WIN, and the Scots will eternally be called bravefarrts instead of brave hearrts.

The above shows that you (still) don’t get it.

You see, you offer a perfunctory word of sympathy and then you’re off making your ‘geo-political’ point(s) again.

Have you ever thought you might be more convincing in your ‘sympathy’ if you just offered condolences (if you feel that to be necessary and appropriate) and then shut up? You could do that and put your geo-political ‘points’ in a separate post.

    “Government’s grandstanding on IS”
“Maybe if they’d done less grandstanding he might not have been killed quite so soon”

Yes, we should have understood their feelings more, taken a more conciliatory approach, perhaps toned down the anti-IS rhetoric a little.

Yes, Cameron is to blame for the savage beheading of Mr Haines. We provoked these entirely rational and reasonable people into doing what they did and it’s all our fault.

    @Mochyn69

Remember the troubles in Northern Ireland, they were times of hatred and division. Protestant was divided against Catholic, Nationalist against Unionist, sometimes even members of the same family divided against each other. They were fuelled by those who preached hatred and division and they resulted in violence, people being killed.

Now we have peace in Northern Ireland, people from all sides work together for a better Ireland. Who do you think were working for the people, those who preached hatred, anger and division or those who preached peace, unity and cooperation?

  • Peacewisher

Habby… well done! The art of good trolling seems to be about winding people up, and getting them to react. Well you’ve got your reaction… by even suggesting that I don’t have sympathy you are certainly insulting me. Why should I keep quiet about that?

  • Mary

‘Only the truly naïve fail to realise that should Scottish independence occur that the Tories will apply their usual divide and conquer techniques to the whole of the British Isles…’

Did the PTB tell you to say that RD?

Well, I’ve asked him several times but he’s never elucidated. One of the advantages of Habbabreak – you don’t have to answer awkward questions ‘cos you never see them*.

I’ve also asked the other Palestinian freedom fighters on here whether they know, and, indeed, whether they had followed Captain Komodo’s suggestion themselves.

Funnily enough, none of them has so far responded! 🙂

@Anon1: Wouldn’t put it quite that way, but by the ultra-violent “at the press of a button” action of invading Iraq the USUK coalition created fertile ground for an ultra-violent jihadist movement where previously there was none.

I’m the only person I noticed on here expressing any concern for Haines – when I said Cameron should stop doing everything to provoke IS. No-one replied to my post.

    From wikipedia.

“Haines was born in East Yorkshire, moving to Perth, Scotland as a child and prior to his capture resided near Zagreb, Croatia”.

It was hatred and division that caused his death. Let’s not use his death to create hatred and division.

Could not make this up. Maliki, Allawi and Nujaifi become vice presidents of Iraq.

Iraqi lawmakers approve new government; al-Maliki becomes VP
    http://edition.cnn.com/2014/09/08/world/meast/iraq-government/

PS Could someone tell me if we are fighting against Assad or with him? It all gets a bit confusing. Also are we joining Amerika in airstrikes or not. That nice Mr Hammond said no but No 10 corrected him. I bet a few mobiles are hitting the walls at No 10 in the style of Gordo.
