Selective Indignation 262

For his first nine years as Prime Minister, Tony Blair appointed NO women to any of the “Great offices of state” over which Corbyn is under such concerted media fire. And he had many less women in his shadow cabinet and cabinet. Yet there was virtually no media comment at all, and none of this line of right wing “feminists” lambasting him.

Explain.

    Ahh – I see what you were getting at last night, with your comments about deleting older comments. You didn’t mean selectively, you actually meant all of them. Sorry, I misunderstood.

    Do you think data should come with a “delete by” date? It’s an interesting concept. I heard a talk by this dude (Viktor Mayer-Schönberger):

    http://www.oii.ox.ac.uk/people/?id=174

    He argues that data should be removed after a given period. You can see more of that here:

    And there’s another article in the Graud you might like:

    Well, yes. First priority is to address economic inequality and inequality of opportunity. Then you have already done the groundwork when you move on to address sectional inequalities of gender, race, orientation, etc.

    I wasn’t suggesting the past five years should be reversed ONLY for women. But I do suggest that women have suffered disproportionately by them.

    “Anyway, unlike Cameron, he has not lost any nuclear weapons yet. We still don’t know where they are.”

    Yes we do, North Korea has them.

    I wasn’t suggesting the past five years should be reversed ONLY for women. But I do suggest that women have suffered disproportionately by them.

    Perhaps we ought not enter debate surrounding the degrees of suffering of one demography against another. Furthermore given the degrees of suppression of the majority of the UK population that is neatly bypassed/overlooked by all and sundry through the policies of the oligarch owned media and the government alike, that create tertiary hot button issues to disregard and cover up the extent of the abuses of human rights of the majority in UK. Ie half of the population mainly women in addition to the minorities, that by any measure constitute the majority of UK population.

    There exists an urgent need for making people aware of the travesty of the current policies that promote industrial scale abuses of human rights in UK. These abuses which evidently are to be further expanded by the future policies of the current Tory government, in the guise of fighting “extremism and terrorists”, included in which is the abolition of the right to strike which is the only expression of the ability of any working person to withdraw their labour, as a freeman and not a slave.

    “Yes we do, North Korea has them”

    There is evidence that N Korea got one but there is no evidence indicating the destination of the other two.

    Sixer, good thoughts: I am very much in agreement. I think the trouble with Harriet Harman et al was that their support for neoliberalism has always been stronger than their feminism. They are not persuaded of the merits of capitalism as such, but they have been so terrified of the Tory press that they abandoned any pretense at supporting social democratic principles.

    I would be willing to agree that there is a section of the Left that will use feminism as an attack on Corbyn because their faction was not willing (for a variety of reasons) to oppose neoliberalism fully, as Corbyn and his team will now attempt to do.

    My interjection here is broadly to reject attacks on feminism as a whole. We sometimes get theories posited on this site about how “cultural Marxism” feminism is designed to break up society and/or Western culture, sometimes from a Mens Rights Activism perspective, sometimes from the hard Right.

  • Jon

    Btw Sixer, oh yes – it can be most interesting to post here. Just ignore the squabbling, and you’ll be fine!

  • fred

    “There is evidence that N Korea got one but there is no evidence indicating the destination of the other two.”

    If they only had one and they tested it then they would be left with none which would have made the test pointless.

  • Sixer

    Jon

    And I am in agreement with you. I’d also add the culture of careerism in politics as another reason.

    As to men’s rights activists – I’ve heard that if you pinch your nose, cross your eyes and click your heels three times, they disappear up their own rear ends. We’ll try it if they show up!

    You should really calm down and read the comments carefully – in this instance, what I am trying to find out.

    I am asking when Craig started his blog (the year would do) and when Mary first came onto it (ie, was she one of the earliest commenters).

    No question of “pilfering” ( whatever you mean by that).

    ++++++++++++++

    But why am I bothering to tell you this? You are clearly a very disturbed person.

    I’m very glad you made the decision to post here. Welcome. But you will probably never leave, now. I think it is quite a leap of faith to post, actually…given the fisticuffs that go on.

    In the same way that I thoroughly approve of feminism, I have no problem with a men’s rights perspective that is not anti-women or anti-feminism but concerns itself with safeguarding men from unfair discrimination. I think that that is perfectly reasonable. If it is used as a weapon to intimidate or oppress women that is another matter.

    Kind regards,

    John

    John

    Thank you for the welcome and fear thee not – I have the hide of a rhino and the occasional irascible spell of my own!

    I would be happy to support men’s movements that address actual problems faced primarily by men – the alarming suicide rates, for instance. But I will always be vocal in opposing the kind of Men’s Rights movements that I think Jon was referring to – the ones that are little more than narcissistic reflexes to the thought of ceding any genuine equality to women.

    That’s good – you’ll probably need it (smile).

    I understand, and I fully agree with you. I am sometimes a little concerned that men’s rights advocates are unfairly characterised as misogynists and women-haters in the same way that feminists are caricatured as man-haters and lesbians. I do not think these kinds of stereotypes help anybody.

    Kind regards,

    John

    I wonder if anybody waxing indignant over Jeremy Corbyn’s Shadow Cabinet choices has thought to take a close look at the current Cabinet?

    Fedup squawks on the previous page : “Every racist tries the cheap trick of Islam is not a race! The many incarnations of the same keyboardi unit assigned to spam the net has this “contribution”

    Errm.. Islam is not a race. It’s an idea. A bad idea from medieval Arabia. If it’s “racist” to criticize an idea like Islam, then it must be racist to preach hatred for atheists. Ergo, Islam is a “racist” ideology.

    Now I am not afforded the luxury of rewriting the above brainfart changing and replacing Islam with Judaism, and then adding even more reactionary and premedieval Egypt!

    However, when Roberta Moore (The Director of the Jewish Defence League, the affiliate to EDL racists) forwards the same defence, and the same excuses, as the above to carry on her vile racist conduct, it should come as no surprise that her minions getting ten dollars a day and spamming this board are using the same lines.”

    —–

    It is no trick to observe the obvious – Islam is not a race. Indeed, the opposite is true – ie to call criticism of Islam “racist” is the trick being performed by the likes of Fedup and Co. Correcting this mischievous falsehood propagated by hysterical “anti-racists” in their hateful attacks on the many critics of Islam is absoulutely necessary to remove the pollution and poison from discussion.

    Fedup then continues her usual hysterical outburst by rolling out the usual ‘whataboutery’ citing Judaism and Christianity as equally bad ideologies. Again, it is a mischievous falsehood that criticism of Islam is not valid unless it is always accompanied with equal criticism of the other two religions. And likewise, it is a common trick to attach a non-existent dependency on criticism in order to obfuscate it with excessive broadness. The tactic is basically to weigh down the opposing argument with false claims that it has inconsistencies.

    But in Fedup’s rant, she failed to address the two clearly stated points – 1. Islam preaches hatred for atheists, and 2. If criticizing Islam is racist, then Islam is a racist ideology.

    Don’t expect any concessions from Fedup. Like other irrational extremists who post comments on this blog, she has her own agenda, is aggressive at pursuing it, is bigoted towards opposing points of view and inclined to commit the sleazy tactics that we have come to expect from Leftist cadres on their long marches to bring down society and replace it with a Godless religion.

    JSD, we’re in agreement – there’s been some good discussion here in the past about the propensity for some GPs to prescribe ADHD drugs to boys when there’s no good reason to do so. And, of course, about access for divorced fathers to their children.

    I sometimes fear that the phrase “Men’s Rights Activists (MRA)” may be inextricably linked to the misogynist faction, but I guess this is just a question of perception. Advocating for men’s rights in itself is fine.

    Thanks for the tip Sixer. I’m off to pinch my nose and click my heels, worth a bash 🙂

    This deranged tosser jemand (meaning “someone” in German) a very original moniker very much not similar to the rest of the keyboardi warrior units, that have this obsession to depict German words (it makes them “angry” that is another common theme uniting the these haters and schemers), just check out the other monikers with German expressions and you get the measure of it. These kind of vermin have been spamming the net for years, and their tricks are as old as the hills, but these regimented “angry”tossers remain unaware or simply ignore the fact they are as subtle as a pikestaff.

    Further this specimen is pushing itself as an “atheist” interloping as a secularist to ingratiate itself on the “liberals” for the reasons of advancing and further propagating its hatred of all things Islamic. This trick is yet another one of the worn out and so obvious a method, but hey zionist supremacist vermin do not do subtle, they simply cannot entertain doing subtle, they are far too “angry” to do subtle!

    Throughout its rants it refers to me as she, because the “sharpest tool” that it is in the box has come to conclusions that Macky and I are the same, it used to be Passerby and I were the same, and Steelback and I were the same. Simply its supremacist verminous “mind” cannot entertain that more and more people are wising up to the tricks of the keyboardi warriors, and conflating all the opposition to one entity is the kind of a mental pacifier this kind can suck on to seek solace in!

    The idiotic moron with its imperatives refers to Christianity and Judaism as religions, but calls Islam a bad “Idea” of course the sharpest tool that it is, it has not noticed its sectarian bias is coming across loud and clear! Furthermore, note the “atheists” shoved into the equation that evidently Islam hates! Which of course is used to directly appeal to the fears of the “secularist” who will no doubt join it to condemn Islam, and further treat Muslims in a racist manner!

    Now lets try this line of approach;

    Islam = Religion
    Religion = Judaism

    Any Anti Judaism remark = antisemi…..

    But Judaism is not a race! so anyone can freely spew hatred against Jews and Judaism! Can they?

    let us substitute Islam with Judaism and Muslim with Jew in the following “contribution” by another instance of the keyboardi warrior

    Errm.. Islam is not a race. It’s an idea. A bad idea from medieval Arabia. If it’s “racist” to criticize an idea like Islam, then it must be racist to preach hatred for atheists. Ergo, Islam is a “racist” ideology.

    it becomes thus;

    Errm.. Judaism is not a race. It’s an idea. A bad idea from medieval Arabia (Egypt is included in Arabia and Africa for good measures too) . If it’s “racist” to criticize an idea like Judaism, then it must be racist to preach hatred for atheists. Ergo, Judaism is a “racist” ideology.

    Needless to point out, in no time the “mods” will be getting rid of my comment and leave the unconscious racists drivels of a purported Aussie (these keyboardi units love their cloak and dagger, games don’t they?) in place.

    Throughout the recent past this entity was not around until I started tearing geaianegaunoetc cover apart and outing him as another instance of Joshua Ryne Goldberg and suddenly this foul cretin made an appearance with its signature perverted and vile comments.

  • Jemand

    One of the Left-wing phenomena I’ve noticed a lot recently is pundits making assertions that they want to be true. For example, “Jemand is a right-wing German who loves jews and hates muslims” is an unproven theory whatever one’s personal politics, but shouting it loudly and long enough might actually make it seem true.

    Of course, pundits here are welcome to their opinions, and others can mostly parrot whatever they like. But it’s important to understand this as a propagandistic strategy: it’s an opinion that attempts to persuade other commentators of its validity, and thus we’ll never know if independently the commentators on Craig’s blog genuinely believe that Jemand is a far-Right, German, Jew-lover in the pay of Mossad.. as strange as that combination is.

    For what it’s worth, I think I was right to call out Fedup as an unhinged apologist of Islamofascism. Demanding that I equate Christianity and Judaism with Islam is like insisting that a muslim eat a double bacon cheeseburger deluxe out of political correctness.

    The brainfart wreaking of desperation to change the flow of the charges.

    Clearly and presently manifesting the sectarian bias of a zionist keyboradibot torn between its portrayed persona and its imperatives. This specimen so far has been sucking up to the “liberals and secularist” by pretending it is an atheist, under cover of this disguise it then proceeds to attack all things Islamic and Muslims. (manifestly tolerated by the said “liberals and secularist”)

    Having been outed as an interloper then it changes tack and proceeds to wax lyrical about a “German …….” Recollecting that the same cretin has been “disguising” itself an Aussie and an old Aussie at that, and proceeding to spew hate and bile against all things Islamic and Muslims. Now that the cretin has been outed, transforms to become a “German…… _ew-lover” (not pressing any hot buttons at all).

    All the while trying to dodge from one excuse and story to another in the way of preserving its “niches” for the chachter that has been introduced to rubbish the Muslims and incite hatred against the said Muslims.

    As ever being a smug zionist supremacist, it cannot help itself to out itself, by sating;

    it’s an opinion that attempts to persuade other commentators of its validity,

    Way to go sharpest tool in the box!
