SA – It has always seemed to me a kind of arrogance to suggest that we can control such things. This is not to say that we should not be mindful of our own personal impact upon our environment and try to tread lightly. But I have lost count of the number of times clients have said to me ‘I want a garden which will attract wildlife’. The temptation is always to say ‘If you want a garden which attracts wildlife, just lock the back door and never go out there again, wildlife will like that much, much better than anything you can create!’
