Only Sweat the Small Stuff 922

I was called by a journalist yesterday who told me that in Dewsbury six years ago I shared a platform with Baroness Warsi’s now husband at a meeting against the persecution of Muslims. Sadly I couldn’t really help him as at the time I was doing hundreds such events and have only the dimmest of recollections of that one.

It is not merely amusing that Cameron refers Warsi for investigation for allegedly pocketing a couple of thousand quid while protecting Hunt who tried so hard to shepherd the Murdoch BSkyB bid past the winning post, while pretending to referee the event.

Nor is the lesson just that a Muslim woman will always be expendable while a fully paid up member of the ruling class will be less so.

The truth is that to trip up an MP over a little cash does not threaten the system. To tackle the massive institutional corruption by which corporate interests control the British state is a different question altogether.

Hunt is of course not the only case not to be referred. Nor was the Adam Werritty debacle, where rather than the proper investigative procedures Cameron organised a tidy little stitch-up by Gus O’Donnell which omitted almost all the key facts and particularly did not say what the entire scheme was about – the promotion of the interests of Israel. The Murdoch Empite, the Israeli lobby, these are amongst the interests that actually run the exploited citizenry of this poor wracked old country. Every now and then glimpses of truth emerge.

But must not be pursued.

Wherever you are in the UK, e-mail/write/’phone your local MP TODAY to urge them to stand up for human rights and support the forthcoming Early Day Motion in the House of Commons to reform the extradition laws wrt the extradition of British citizens to the USA.

The USA can demand the extradition of YOU from the UK with no need to give reasons or evidence. The UK does not have the same right wrt US citizens. France and Ireland do not allow the USA to do this to their citizens. These British citizens simply are asking to be charged and tried in a British court. Talha Ahsan, a poet and activist, whose brother, Hamja is a friend of mine, has spent six years in jail, and Babar Ahmed, eight years, both WITHOUT CHARGE. That is the equivalent of the time a convicted rapist/murderer would spend in jail.

There are many such cases now in the UK. Yesterday it was Algerian asylum seekers and Irish Catholics, then it was British Muslims, tomorrow it will be you! Get onto your MP NOW! This Early Day Motion has cross-party support.

Namely, if the Yanks think (without having to prove) that you have done something against their idiot laws, it doesn’t matter if you weren’t under US jurisdiction at the time, they can still have you. Imperialism writ large. And the protection of British law – such as it is – for British citizens, is in abeyance. The UK enabling legislation went through very quietly under Blair.

Camel Corps gone but FCO still out of touch
By Martin Bright, June 14, 2012
    .[..]
The FCO is under the distinct impression that most reasonable UK Jews are opposed to Benjamin Netanyahu’s stance on settlement building, that William Hague is right to express his deep concern, and that present Israeli government policy is damaging the chances of restarting the peace process.

    .[..]

It is no longer correct to see the Foreign Office as dominated by the “Camel Corps”, as an older generation of Arabists has been replaced by a far more diverse cohort of diplomats, including the UK’s first Jewish envoy to Israel, Matthew Gould.

I was just looking up the Care Quality Commission, the subject of today’s BBC health scare story for the day. Have you noticed that there is at least one a day?
    .
Their website is like wading through porridge. There are separate pages (which were difficult to locate) for Chairman and CEO, Board members, executive committee and independent members. The CEO has just been replaced by a David Behan. Note the revolving doors and also the jargon.
    .
NHS alerts – David Behan CBE, Director General of Social Care, Local Government and Care Partnerships at the Department of Health, has announced his departure to take up the role of Chief Executive at the Care Quality Commission.
    .
Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said: “I would like to thank David for his dedication and professionalism. He has made a huge contribution, both in designing the reform of the social care system so it is fit for the future, but also securing much better integration of health and social care. David will take his wealth of experience of health and social care to a vital role – making sure that not only are patients and service users getting high quality care, but that their dignity and experience is as important as their treatment and care. I wish David the best in his new role.”

Railway bosses give themselves average salaries of £1million as passengers face fare hikes
    By Ray Massey

    28 June 2012
    .

Bosses of the five main companies that run the nation’s railways have paid themselves average salaries of £1million.
    .
Critics say the rises are ‘scandalous’ at a time when passengers face inflation-busting fare hikes.
    .
Millions had to cope with fare rises of up to 11 per cent this year and more increases are in the pipeline for next year.

‘Not inviting Iran to the forthcoming talks on Syria would be a grave mistake’ says Russian foreign m,inmister Lavrov. meanwhile Turkey is using the shooting down of its jet as a reason to build up its forces along the Syrian border.

We have had our provocation, now we are seeing the build up. I’m afraidd my military mind tells me that any conflagration with Syria will inmevitably include Iran. NATO will attack both of them, citing Irans logistical support and it support for Hezbollah.

If Diamond were not paid in a year several times what most of us make in a lifetime, he would be snapped up by our competitors who would be delighted to pay him even more for completely trashing their economies. I’m proud to be a citizen of a nation which produces the best-paid crooks on the planet. Here, Bob, take my savings and my pension pot. You’re worth it, and it’s only money.

  • Komodo

Turkey has never needed an excuse to build up troops along its Syrian, Iraqi and Iranian borders…the Kurds are stirring the shit constantly along them. The Syrian Kurds have been given something of a free hand by Assad: it keeps them detached from the opposition, and it keeps the Turks occupied. What Assad maybe fails to appreciate is that the Kurds and their structures, with active support from Israel and the US, are the main vehicle for destabilising Iran…and they are not detached from the opposition at all.

  • Passerby

    Nevermind,
Your military mind may think what it wants but end of the day Iran will be kicking an almighty dust up that will engulf the whole region if not the world.

The entire world is getting pretty pissed off with the hundred years war agenda that is getting followed relentlessly.

So far as attacking Syria goes, if they could have attacked there by now NATO was in a full fledge operation Syrian Freedom. No one is buying the psyop crap, other the hamburger munchers in the West.

BTW Saudi are not invited either. ie the main “protagonists” and the bag-men.

‘The entire world is getting pretty pissed off with the hundred years war agenda that is getting followed relentlessly.’

One wonders what the Hamburger munching pretty pissed off world going to do about it, cause when it happens its too late.
I see Stop the war has used this opportunity to ask people to risk being arrested by police thugs in London.

Apart from those living there nobody should demonstrate in London. How about Bristol, Brighton, Plymouth, Manchester, Birmingham, York, Newcastle, EVERYWHERE and not on the streets but at bus stations, trainststions, airports, barracks public offices, City Halls. Oh yes, Londoners can do as they see fit, occupy penthouses of oligarchs, or shut London Bridge, indeed all bridges.
Off course they all should ask for permission first…..

    Mary,
My MP: Mr Stephen Hammond also refuses to sign EDMs and he is a mere PPS (Parliamentary Private Secretary) to the minister Eric Pickles.

  • Angry Tom

Future generations, if anyone survives at all and not just uneducated, irradiated mutant savages roam the smoking earth, will pour their scorn and disgust on all of us in this country, who stood back and let these monsters as run the US, UK, Israel and the terror apparatus that is NATO execute their death cult policies. We are long past the parallel period in German history, when it was obvious to all that the Nazi regime that had entrenched itself there was a diabolical force that would drag all down in flames and ruin with them. We are now with our western governments and illusory democracies, in the realms of that later period when the independence and national spirit of country after country were crushed in the rolling bloodshed such vile regimes as ours glorify and expedite.

What has taken place in recent years – the protracted genocide of the blameless Palestinian being a special case of Jewish religious supremacism – the aggressive wars of conquest as tools and dupes of same such fanatical zionists: Iraq; Lebanon; Afghanistan; Pakistan; Libya; present malign murderous brinkmanship in Syria; and if they get their morally deviant way, with proud beautiful Iran, not to mention a hundred or more unseen evils daily we inflict on anguished bleeding humanity –is a shame and an indelible spreading stain on the British character and already abysmal record that can never be erased. As a key cog in the axis of evil of the US, UK and Israel that stolen non-country of bloodlusty bandits, we are especially to blame, for our fig leaf of legitimacy given to such horrors for faint promise of reward only to a very exalted chosen few, keeps the whole rotten together bandwagon together and rolling, out for for all or nothing, nothing being the outcome we will deserve and the only certain outcome of this madness, nothing but death and destruction, unseen.

Arrest the perpetrators. All troops overt and covert withdrawn home, leave the equipment -Dunkirk it, save lives, stop killing. Dear leaders past and present, excepted.

Last Tuesday was International Torture Day. There are 4,659 Palestinians in Israeli jails and many are subjected to inhuman practices. From the UK Palestinian Amnbassador.
    .
    Marking International Torture Day
    .
The 26th of June marks ‘International Torture Day’ in which we were reminded of the 4,659 Palestinians currently held in Israeli Jails that are denied their basic human rights, legal representation and dignity.
    .
What marks International Torture day this year is the mass hunger strike launched by Palestinian prisoners protesting against the torture and ill treatment policies that are practiced in Israeli prisons. A recent report marking the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture revealed that an overwhelming 100% of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails suffer physical and psychological torture at the hands of the brutal Israeli military regime.

    .

The report indicated that 91% of the prisoners were pushed around and beaten, 82% were deprived of sleep, 85% were forced to remain in uncomfortable positions for long hours, 95% did not receive healthy drinks or food, 57% were exposed to excessive heat or cold, and over 63% were beaten in gentiles. Currently there are 192 Child prisoners of which around 90% children were exposed to violence and beaten, while about 16% of them were sexually harassed and threatened, said the report, adding that illegal Israeli settlements in the Palestinian Territory turned in recent years into torture centres, especially of Palestinian children.

I should have added that the Blair/Gayton Palestinian Authority security force is also pretty lethal and have carried out atrocities against their Palestinian brothers and sisters. I have in mind the torturing to death of Sheikh Mustafa Barghouti and others in Palestinian jails.
