DarthKeymaster
Yes, that’s due to a change from an ancient Papypal button to the current Paypal generated html code with a new button. To make sure of no unexpected issues, the new code hasn’t been updated everywhere yet.

DarthKeymasterShould be fixed now.
DarthKeymasterIt is an RSS format feed so your browser will have to understand that or you may need an add-on. What browser/platform are you using? If Chrome the most popular RSS feed reader addon is https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/feedly/hipbfijinpcgfogaopmgehiegacbhmob?hl=en
Otherwise google “yourbrowsername RSS”

DarthKeymasterLink fixed for you.
DarthKeymasterThanks. Hadn’t figured out where you were seeing this but now discovered the misspelling specifically in the Facebook settings. Fixed now.

DarthKeymasterRe-opened for comments now.
DarthKeymasterCraig asked for them to be removed from the sidebar as nobody was using them and he felt that the same old topics just cluttered the site. Very shortly after you decided to use it!
There are multiple mods and different mods will make different judgements. The same mod can make different calls at different times and not all comments are even read by all mods – some might be read by no mods at all until attentions is drawn. I can guarantee you the poster you mentioned has previously contacted Craig to complain about their posts being deleted when ones attacking them stayed. It’s a bit swings and roundabouts but individual posters don’t see the whole picture. If we had a table of top-10 most moderated users you would probably be surprised.
In any case the comment you pointed out has now gone.
August 9, 2016 at 19:00 in reply to: I always get "duplicate comment" when I write a comment on this website. #34366DarthKeymasterWell that’s a WordPress standard theme feature but it shouldn’t be going off mistakenly. Can you post the text of the comment you were trying to make here next time it happens. Add some introductory test before pasting in case you get duplicate comment here (although that shouldn’t happen…) and we’ll look into it.

DarthKeymasterSpam filter is the WordPress supported Akismet and we have no control over it. Occasionally it seems to pick on a real person for a time but if we keep unspamming it eventually gets the message.
Sorry for inconvenience and hopefully it clears soon.
DarthKeymasterSorry, we don’t have any pm facilities on the blog – users don’t register. However if both parties agree then moderators can pass on email addressees.
DarthKeymasterYes it should be the same as before. If you notice the basic codes are shown when posting in the forum here but not when commenting on posts. It is supposed to be displayed on posts and I’m not sure why it isn’t.
Remove space after “<" below.
< strong>bold< /strong>< em>italics< /em>
bold
italics< b>< /b>
< i >< /i>Should also work. A complete list of the standard WordPress allowed html at https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
DarthKeymasterCan you try Firefox? Can’t really advise anyone to still be running XP but if you are I presume you know what you are doing.
DarthKeymasterA restriction in Cloudflare CDN. Which browser? Firefox on XP should be okay. Probably Chrome.
DarthKeymasterFor info the Youtube video URL has to be on a line of its own to auto-embed. Your’s just had it auto-wrapped so I’ve edited in a new line.
DarthKeymasterCloudflare CDN has been turned off for now. However if we need the extra capacity it will be turned on again as needed and your problem will re-occur. But at least you will know what to do if it happens again. Sorry for any inconvenience in any case.
DarthKeymasterWindows XP it seems is the problem. Opera on versions of Windows later than XP is fine I gather from various forum posts.
DarthKeymasterSince Monday morning the blog has been front-ended by Cloudflare Content Distribution Network to keep the site online under sky-high traffic rates. A quick web search shows some others have experienced problems with Opera and Cloudflare https sites. I have Opera mini on my phone and it connects fine though. Desktop Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Explorer and Edge also all connect fine for me. Cloudflare say the issue is with Opera not them. Sorry that doesn’t really help you though. What operating system are you using? I’ll see if I can track down more specific information.
We should also be able to turn off Cloudflare soon but traffic is still at high levels.

DarthKeymasterAllowed html is supposed to be displayed on main post comments. Haven’t figured out yet why it is not displaying but once I do it will be back.
Prior to new theme 70% of blog views were from desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux) and 30% phones or tablets. Since changeover this has become 60% desktop, 40% phone/tablet. The big change was in phone readership which increased from 13% to almost 23%. The top 3 visitor days in March all occurred post switchover and we have not lost any readers. Some regular visitors have switched to mainly reading on phone but also the number of visitors on phones has increased coming in from both google and social media now that the site is no longer classed as small-screen unfriendly.
DarthKeymasterComment bubble reduced in size for now. That mostly seems to solve the overlap problem although there is still slight overlap with some longer titles.
DarthKeymasterWe’re aware of the comment bubble and the title clashing especially on smaller devices. It should get fixed at some point.
The DNS is with the domain registrar. We did use the service provider DNS previously but switched to overcome a stale nameserver supplying outdated info. Never been a good reason to switch back.
DarthKeymasterAll the feedback was put to Craig and, with the exception of some minor matters, he is perfectly happy with it as it is now. If you wish to persuade him to change his mind then please use the contact form.
DarthKeymasterClosing topic and reopening new one as paging settings are not being respected by bbpress for threaded forum posts. The page just gets longer for ever.
DarthKeymasterIt is supposed to be displayed. Don’t know why it is not being shown but will look into it. Hadn’t actually noticed until you mentioned it.
DarthKeymasterCould you try again now please.
DarthKeymasterDarthKeymasterIt night be an anomaly but percentage of mobile phone readership of the blog has doubled in the last 2 days. I take it you don’t find zooming in slightly in the browser any help? Craig actually got me to change font sizes while he refreshed the page. This is the font size he picked. Maybe we could enlarge a bit more?
DarthKeymasterFor the small percentage of visitors on extreme high resolution monitors, who find the whitespace at screen edges distracting, one suggestion might be to zoom the page slightly. Ctrl/+ works on most Windows browsers as a shortcut.
DarthKeymasterIt’s because there can only be 5 levels of nested comments including the top. You can always reply to a less indented reply in the thread and make it clear who you are replying to if context requires. We could up this limit but it is not advised.
Thanks for your earlier kind words. All the feedback here is being collected and, after a break, we’ll play around with things on the test system this week. If we can come up with some modifications that Craig likes and help readers having a problem with this site then they will be implemented.
For those especially struggling with the font, be aware that things like noscript etc will block loading of the Google Fonts and a fallback will be used. The actual main font we use is the second most popular web font in the world but I know that doesn’t help for people who hate it 🙂
DarthKeymasterOr I could just paste it appropriately modified into the site style sheet 🙂
Seriously we’ve had some suggested css sent in already and are open to any suggestions anyone else fancies posting.
It’s a pity WordPress doesn’t support multiple themes/skins to be active at one time. Users could then pick the one they want. WordPress Customizer seems to be moving in that direction and has even more added stuff in upcoming WP 4.5 to allow Admins to play with alternative themes without making them live. I do wonder if an eventual goal of multiple available themes is at the back of their minds.
DarthKeymasterPage header now unstuck.
DarthKeymasterAnother bit of feedback we’re looking for. Has anyone tried the site on a phone or a tablet and how does it look there? Can you try rotating the phone/tablet to get both portrait and landscape views?
We’ll experiment with fonts on the test site and try out some other tweaks. Also any comment on the “sticky” page header – is that fine or should we unstick it so it scrolls off the top of the page like any other content?

DarthKeymasterWe’ve upped the font size a bit on the blog pages. Font’s themselves are easily changeable and may be tinkered with based on feedback. Colour scheme is based on Craig’s guidance.
Sadly we can’t do much about comment links. If we’d kept 100 top level comments per page, by the time threaded replies were added the page would be ridiculously long. Displaying 100 comments/threads is also fairly cpu intensive.
Why WordPress doesn’t have a comment permalink that doesn’t include the page number is beyond me.
DarthKeymasterCould you be a bit more specific? What bits are particularly hard to read? Happy to take any suggested changes to make it better.
DarthKeymasterEven google make it too easy
DarthKeymasterAnother amusing fact is that ddos for hire websites are usually signed up with a major CDN partner such as Cloudflare themselves to prevent return attacks against them. How cosy…

DarthKeymasterFunny you should mention TOR. We were all set to test with Cloudflare when a fight broke out between them and TOR developers. Cloudflare served sites had suddenly started blocking TOR or giving never ending captchas. So the test was put on hold. May be resolved by now.
Google search results due to non mobile friendly theme is one of the least of our problems with the theme to be honest and we hope to kill several birds with one (or two) stones. No real birds harmed during the course of the comment 🙂
March 9, 2016 at 18:53 in reply to: Al Hilli thread – selecting page 59 onwards drops back to page 1 #33089DarthKeymasterGlad we were able to sort it out for you.
Anyone else having similar issues then please also clear your cache.
March 9, 2016 at 16:18 in reply to: Al Hilli thread – selecting page 59 onwards drops back to page 1 #33084DarthKeymasterCan you try clearing your cache to see if that helps. Also try opening a new private/incognito browser window and try in that. Does it behave differently or the same?
For a time last night the blog software was incorrectly sending 301 Permanent Redirect on comment page numbers higher than page 1. If your browser cached that response last night it will go straight to the redirected page. We think the problem is fixed now for new accesses and we see the page being retrieved correctly in the logs.
