Gordon Brown 822

I have a guilty political secret.  I do not detest Gordon Brown.  That is such an unfashionable opinion that I don’t really expect any comments at all to agree with it.  And yes, I do realise that he went along with the Iraq War and all the other horrors of the Blair era. Interestingly, I don’t remember the question of what Gordon Brown really thought about Iraq ever being discussed; he deserves condemnation for having not tried to stop it, and perhaps he was indeed an enthusiast.  And I am well aware that the Private Finance Initiative is a terrible disaster, and that he oversaw creeping privatisation in the health services, and – worst of all – the introduction of tuition fees.

And yet I cannot dislike him.  Probably because I just know too many people who have  known him through decades, who are themselves good people, and who like him.  Around Edinburgh and Fife you will find it hard to find people who actually know him who share the hatred and contempt he seems to arouse among the political and media classes of London.

As a general rule I do not like or dislike people according to their politics, but rather according to the sincerity of their political beliefs and the goodwill with which they hold them.  I am sure Anders Breivik is sincere in his political beliefs, but those are lacking in goodwill. Sincerity is not enough – humanity and inclusiveness are also important.

There are one nation Tories who seem to me perfectly decent people, genuinely trying to do good.  I don’t hate them because their political conclusions on the best way to do good are different to mine.  Gordon Brown I put rather in the same category – I feel he was trying to do good for ordinary people, he just got it wrong.

Blair is in a whole different category again – insincere, absolutely focused on attaining personal power, and with a Messianic belief that what is good for him must be good for the World.  The Guardian is publishing some emails around the Blair Brown rivalry this week.  I don’t care and won’t read them.  But while I see Blair as quite properly damned for eternity to the seventh pit of hell, I don’t think Brown deserves anything worse than North Queensferry.

I have been in Ghana the last 20 days living in a house with no internet connection and working (extremely hard) in an office with virtually no internet connection – not enough to load WordPress.  I hope to get more chance to blog shortly.

how reassuring the FBI will assist in any cover-up/distortion of facts, blah blah:

Euronews: Nairobi siege over, Kenyatta says attackers “beaten and shamed”
Three floors of the Westgate mall collapsed, and there are several bodies still trapped in the rubble, including the terrorists,” he announced on TV.
Eleven arrests have been made, and interrogation has already begun. An FBI team is due to arrive shortly from the USA to assist.
Tuesday morning saw soldiers sweeping the building room by room, floor by floor, using explosive charges to open locked doors, and defusing a number of explosive devices that had been left by the al-Shabaab militants…
*** The Kenyan interior minister has also revealed that the operation was clearly planned well in advance, as it appears al-Shabaab rented a shop in Westgate, allowing it to discreetly build up supplies for this operation.

“I’ll ask just once again, because this is getting rather tedious – do you have any evidence that Moore lied, and that he’s produced “9/11″ conspiracy theories? If you’ve got none, just man up and admit it, eh?”

Never! Michael Moore is an exceedingly plump liar on all matters.
    Searches on “+critique +”michael moore” +”Fahrenheit 911″ return from 809 to 13,400 results. One more: http://www.mooreexposed.com/911.html

Am I correct that you believe 9/11 was a false flag op done by Bush/Cheney/the Saudis? If so, I ask you about 9/11 – just don’t go there at all, if you have a scrap of decency or humanity. Remember the victims.

Agreed it’s becoming tedious. Neither of us will convince the other. What’s up with the “eh?” are you Canuckian? 🙂

StandardKenya: Police say raiders may have been tenants in mall
Detectives are following leads that terrorists who attacked Westgate
Shopping Mall may have hired premises either inside the shopping centre or
in adjacent residential buildings for as long as one year.
Investigations are also focusing on the identities of people who visited
City Hall’s planning department to obtain plans of the upmarket mall prior
to Saturday’s attack in which more than 60 people were killed and over 200
    injured.
Officials aware of the probe say accomplices of the attackers may have
obtained the construction maps of the mall to help them plan the raid.
Police also plan to interview all the tenants at the shopping mall to
establish whether the attackers or their accomplices had posed as
    businessmen.
Police sources say the terrorists appeared to know their way around the
shopping centre, and the fact that they held out forces for so long also
suggested they had a much higher supply of ammunition than they walked in
    with.
The terrorists are also believed to have been running shops in the mall
as they planned the attack. ..
Seven of at least 12 suspects being grilled by police were arrested at
the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday as they tried to leave for
    various European destinations.
Police say their departures were suspicious and that is why they had been
detained. One of the suspects is aged 35 and had a British passport…

    read it all:

IOL: Sapa/AP: Israel sends experts to Kenya
“Israel is always ready to help other countries, other friendly countries,
in combating terrorism. I think that terrorism has become a threat to the
entire world and therefore countries – United States, Israel and other
Western countries – should cooperate,” Yuval Steinitz, Israel’s cabinet
minister for strategic affairs, told The Associated Press.
Israel has had strong commercial interests across Africa for decades. But
only in recent years has it begun to view Africa, particularly eastern
Africa, as being of vital strategic interest in the battle against Islamic
    extremists…
In all, more than 40 senior African dignitaries have visited Israel in the
past two years, according to the Israeli Foreign Ministry. Among them were
the presidents of Rwanda, Uganda, Togo and South Sudan, as well as the prime
minister of Kenya. The president of Nigeria is expected soon…
Israel says that its foe Iran ships weapons to militants in the Gaza Strip
through Africa. The Horn of Africa is also a strategic shipping route for
    Israel.
“What they would want is basically to share understanding and information
more than anything else,” the official said, adding it is “no secret” that
Israel exports some weapons to Africa.
Israeli officials refuse to say what type of military assistance is sent to
African allies or who is being armed, saying only that any sales must be
aboveboard and approved by the Defense Ministry…
More recently, Israel and Kenya signed a treaty to cooperate in the fight
against terrorism, money laundering and other crime in 2011.
***Today, Israelis are a visible part of Nairobi’s large expatriate
community. They run businesses in a number of fields, and they have opened
several cafes and restaurants – including at least four in the Westgate
mall. No Israelis are known to be among the dead.
Israeli defense officials confirmed a team of experts was dispatched to
Nairobi within hours of the hostage crisis…
Nitzan Nuriel, another former head of the Counter-Terrrorism Bureau, said
Kenya was among three African countries, along with Tanzania and Ethiopia,
to receive security training from Israel about two years ago…
Nuriel said the training is part of a broader effort that began in earnest
with a trip to five African countries by then-Foreign Minister Avigdor
    Lieberman in 2009.
Nuriel, who accompanied Lieberman, said at every stop the message was clear.
“Everything having to do with the war on terror, we have a common enemy.
Let’s cooperate,” he quoted African officials as saying.
In addition to Kenya, he said Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania have strong
intelligence cooperation with Israel, providing information on some 10
Islamist groups, including Al-Shabab and Boko Haram, a similar group in
    Nigeria.
In addition, West African countries provide intelligence on Hezbollah
operatives involved in drug-running and money laundering, Nuriel said.
Hagai Katz of Magal Security Systems Ltd., an Israeli security company, said
his firm this year completed a $25 million project securing Kenya’s port in
Mombasa. In 2012, it was responsible for stadium security at the African Cup
in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, he said..

NYT heavyweights with ANONYMOUS SOURCES spins the story beginning with the opening line***

NYT: Before Kenya Attack, Rehearsals and Planting of Machine Guns
By JEFFREY GETTLEMAN, NICHOLAS KULISH and ERIC SCHMITT
***The plot was hatched weeks or months ago on Somali soil, by the Shabab’s “external operations arm,” officials say…
The building’s blueprints were studied, down to the ventilation ducts…
A day or two before the attack, powerful belt-fed machine guns were secretly stashed in a shop in the mall with the help of a colluding employee, officials say. At least one militant had even packed a change of clothes so he could slip out with fleeing civilians after the killings were done.
That is the picture emerging from American security officials of the massacre at the Westgate mall…
“They had people in there, they had stuff inside there,” said an American security official who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak publicly. “This was all ready to go when the shooters walked in.” …
Western security officials fear that several fighters slipped out of the mall during the mayhem of the attack, dropping their guns and disguising themselves as civilians, an account echoed by some witnesses…
*** Some Muslims were indeed killed in the mall…
American officials said the militants must have had a back office in Kenya, a safe house to finalize their plot and store their guns. Witnesses said that several militants toted G3 assault rifles, a bulky weapon that Kenyan security services use, and intelligence analysts say this may mean the militants acquired their weapons from corrupt Kenyan officers, who are known to sell or rent out their guns, charging as little as a few dollars an hour…
Another mystery: the women. Many witnesses have been emphatic that they saw at least two female militants, armed to the teeth and dressed in fatigues. Earlier, Kenyan officials asserted that there had been no women among the shooters, but on Tuesday Mr. Kenyatta seemed to revive the possibility that one of the assailants was a British woman…

Nation Kenya: Gunfire, blasts as troops mount the final assault
There were eight explosions between 10am and 5pm with gunfire also throughout the day.
The assault on the mall, called the final assault, started at about 5pm on Sunday with the terrorists shooting at the Kenyan forces from windows and on those who tried to enter the building. Witnesses reported a serious gunfight…
Kenyan and foreign forces led the assault. Kenyan officers and soldiers from the Special Forces, Rangers Strike Force, the 20 Parachute Battalion, 7 Kenya Rifles and the Kenya Air Force have been working with the Recce Company of the General Service Unit and regular and administration police.
The foreigners are the Israeli and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigations.
At the end of the assault on Day Four, the mop-up started, but most bodies were not removed. Police say that the death toll could rise significantly after bodies are recovered. They said some had their throats slit…

    true or not!

Standard: Security organs knew of attack in advance, claims Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko sensationally told the Senate that security organs and intelligence officers were aware of an impending attack on key areas in Nairobi, including the Westgate Mall.
Sonko claimed that he had helped two women of either Asian or Arabic origin to offer information to police on Al-Shabaab militiamen who were targeting sections of Nairobi…
He said the women had approached him three months ago with information to the effect that the gang, which had rented a house in Parklands and Westlands, were planning a major attack.
“They mentioned Westgate Mall, Village Market, Parliament and the Kenyatta International Conference Centre as their targets,” claimed Sonko.
Attacking members of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), Sonko told the House that after getting the information from the two women, he assisted them to record their statements with the police and the intelligence officers for further investigations.
He said the two women were initially living with the gang in the rented houses but had escaped after being showed the items that the suspects were preparing for the attack.
Though the Senator declined to give the exact details that the two women gave the police, he said that he was ready to record a statement to that effect.
“Instead of the intelligence officers keeping busy tapping our mobile phones, NIS should be employing that vigour towards arresting crime,” said Minority Deputy Whip Janet Ong’era.

Standard: Kenya Defence Forces give horrific accounts, death toll may go up
A section of the roof caved in and photographs emerged of burnt shells of
vehicles in the parking that perhaps explained the plume of black smoke that
billowed into the skies on Monday.
Authorities confirmed the terrorists had rigged the four-storied building
with booby-traps and security forces had to sweep the building, explaining
    delays in the operation.
“We are doing a clean-up of explosives that had been set up by the
terrorists,” the Kenya Police posted on its Twitter account…
Meanwhile, a British national is among seven men who were detained at the
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport ( JKIA).
The British government confirmed Abdulrazak Sharif Ahmed, 35, is their
    citizen.
***The suspect reportedly had injuries on his body and face when he arrived
at JKIA on Monday morning ready to fly out to Turkey…

Typical Britnat response from Fred. He falls back on ancient battles from hundreds of years ago to bolster his argument. It’s what is happening now that’s important, not ancient power struggles between emerging states. You are bad as Israel, using a story from 2000 years ago to defend their actions.

Google has been quietly baking a plan to replace the Internet “cookies” used to track Internet browsing activities with its own anonymous identification system. Google’s proprietary identifier, called “AdID,” could shift the balance of power in the US $120 billion digital advertising industry and shake up the debate over online privacy.
    [..]
Cookies have already stirred up controversy over how much information they allow companies and advertisers to collect about Web users. Microsoft’s latest version of the Internet Explorer browser offers users a “Do Not Track” feature, and Mozilla has made blocking third-party cookies the default option in its Firefox browser since earlier this year. Re Bush appearing indecisive after receiving word of a second plane hitting WTC and continuing to read to a class of children –

I don’t think much of Bush for several reasons but this claim that he was dumb, indecisive and lacking in manly leadership vigour is standard anti-Bush (which I mostly support) bullshit.

This is Bush’s account of the incident –
    http://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/nov/08/george-bush-memoirs-september-11

Anybody who says he should have leapt into action is somebody who has never been in a position of responsibility and leadership. Bush *could* have leapt to his feet and shouted “America is under attack … Let’s kill those motherfuckers!” and he would have been criticised for an unthinking reflexively aggressive response. Or he could have rehearsed and delivered a dignified, intelligent and JFK-ish type of response for timely delivery to rolling cameras in the event of such a tragedy occurring. But of course he did neither, making the mistake of staying calm and thinking through incomplete information that was still too fresh to have been understood for what it was. Seven minutes, apparently, is seven minutes too long to wait before rising and swaggering out the door.

For those kooky 9/11 conspiracy theorists, I find it remarkable that an excellently conceived and executed “inside job” failed to have the star of the show, the President of the United States of America, meticulously rehearse his leading part as action-man-president in order to demonstrate to the world how Americans respond to evil terrorist attacks. Makes ya think, don’t it?

Israel pimps create apartheid alternative to Facebook

    Evidently the apartheid on hitch-hikers:

Avigdor Shatz, the chief security officer at Binyamin Regional Council; “Palestinians are not supposed to stand next to Jews at the same hitchhiking stop, certainly not in Beit El” .

    The apartheid on kindergarten;

kindergarteners will attend facilities that are segregated by race. The children of asylum seekers from sub-Saharan Africa will go to their kindergartens and all the other kids will go to their own.

    Can now be extended into apartheid in cyberspace too;

The “brains” behind the apartheid cyberspace ghetto are two Israel pimps, Roman Gold and Igor Kozlovskiy, who say that one of the site’s main objectives is to strengthen Jewish identity by countering negative stereotypes of Israel and combating intermarriages and the conversion of Jews to other religions.

In deed cannot have too much of a good thing, can they?

    Also the “piercing” wit of the ziofuckwits in the zionistan embassy in US leading to a FAKE linkedin profile to be set up for the Iranian president;

Fake LinkedIn Profile for Iranian President

That is apart from zionistan delegation ordered to walk out on Hassan Rouhani speech in the UN. Whilst the ziofuckwit bought and paid for stooges* holding a rally with the MEK (the terrorist organisation that is now a good terrorist organisation) and denouncing any rapprochement with Iran.

Notwithstanding the above “the emergency committee for isreal” has issued a “fatwa” (_ewish version) “He is a career terrorist with American blood on his hands.” (Hassan Rouhani).

Clearly ziofuckwits are none too happy to see any kind of peace or even slight prospects of peace in the mid east to be hinted at. Who was the KKK fuckwit who delivered the infamous speech; “Segregation today! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever!”? Evidence points to a changed approach to; War today! War tomorrow! War forever! That ought to do the trick.

“What I do object to is the lumping of every conspiracy theory together, as if they all had equal validity (or lack thereof). That’s what Mike was doing before he got all upset and ran off, claiming he was being treated unfairly, and what NR is still doing. It’s an unworthy attempt at equivalence where there is none. All have to be looked at on their individual merits.”

    . . .

I think those who are engaged in real conspiracies benefit from the frenzied, irrational discussion of the crackpot variety. Indeed, it would suit the US to pay shills to write and promote outlandish theories that serve to frustrate genuine enquiries by intelligent people into real conspiracies. By giving people a choice of conspiracy theory, they divide public opinion and undermine support for investigations into the truth. I get the impression that the kooky theories are most popular and enjoy more active discussion.

Could this be a conspiracy theory in itself?

    @ Glenn,

Q: It makes it particularly distasteful when – for example – the Sandy Hook victims are being treated as hoaxers, and it’s very annoying when a “9/11-truther” is expected to answer for (say) the lizzard-people conspiracies, Alex Jones type nonsense, and every last half-witted explanation that any “9/11″ conspiracy theorist has ever come up with.

    R: I concur.

As an afterthought, from a PR [distraction] POV, wouldn’t it be great to have that many individuals/groups battling one another with totally opposing ideologies and inadvertently ensure that there will never be a ‘balanced’ view or ‘common ground’ so that ol’ adagio of ‘divide and rule’ will forever sing its mighty hymn on center stage?

When detectives notice the repeat of a certain M.O. would it be wrong for them to assume they are dealing with the same perp/s [whilst keeping an open mind as to possible various other angles]?

Personally, I prefer research/study detached from emotive reasoning or having to move within tribal [fill in whatever you fancy here] boundaries. The only side I will stand on is the one filled with facts, logic, truth and justice. No need for yellow sticky notes as a label of this or that.

Would you care to see if we could solve the following preposition?

“I see an empty can [cat food], 3 shoes [1 matching pair – male and 1 single pump – female], 1 pair of crushed glasses and after careful examination, 2 strands of hair [1 straight – natural and 1 curly – also natural] have I thus stumbled across a murder scene?”

If not, what does a murder scene specifically need to be or become a real murder scene, according to you?

P.S. Sorry for the delay in replying [+09:00 GMT]

Clinton Global Initiative’s 2013 theme, Mobilizing for Impact, explores ways that CGI members and member organizations can be more effective in leveraging individuals, partner organizations, and key resources in their commitment efforts. Mobilizing the right entities—and allowing them to reach their full potential—creates lasting and scalable success. This builds on CGI’s 2012 theme, Designing for Impact, which encouraged the design of purposeful commitments from the outset.

Julian Ryall of the Telegraph and a graduate of Wolverhampton University has been writing reports about what a despicable regime the North Korean regime is since before Kim Jong-un took over from his father, articles about concentration camps and secret executions, and people eating grass, and what have you. I have my doubts and so does Wikipedia.

“Other experts such as Steven Hermen, former Voice of America correspondent, and Chad O’Carroll, of NK News, argue against the authenticity of the Chosun Ilbo report. O’Carroll states “These rumors start with unnamed and unverified sources in the South Korean media and, for the most part, they’re not true (and impossible to prove).” Hermen is also skeptical of the reports, saying “…mainstream media in South Korea has repeatedly been wrong on these sensationalistic stories originating from the North.” As an example of the misleading and often unfounded reports that occasionally appear in South Korean media about the north, Bruce Cuming, a Korean history expert of the University of Chicago, recalled in 1986 South Korean intelligence claiming that Kim Il-Sung, North Korea’s first dictator, was assassinated by his son Kim Jong-il. In actuality, Kim died years later of a fatal heart attack in 1994. While he does not totally dismiss the possibility of The Chosun Ilbo report’s honesty, Steven Hermen adds “There will be no way to confirm these sort of stories until after the DPRK collapses, or we have first-hand testimony with credible evidence from reliable defectors.””

Thanks for your weird comment. I have just got off the phone with George W. (I do in fact have a hotline to ex-presidents, as you implied) and he says that God won’t heal amputees because only retards with emotional insecurities about death and an inability to conceive of a universe driven by material forces believe in a human-like entity who looks over their daily lives.

    Hope that helps you out.
