Gaza Genocide Promoter Baroness Cox – Dundee University Must Withdraw Honorary Degree 218

Baroness Cox is a prominent supporter of organisations which actively and openly promote the ethnic cleansing of all Palestinians from Gaza. She was incredibly given an Honorary Degree by the University of Dundee in 2006. I call on the students and academic staff of Dundee University to campaign to have this award stripped from her.

It is a matter of shame to me that my University has honoured a woman whose primary political activity is as a promoter of genocide.

Baroness Cox’s support for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians is persistent and consistent. She is the deputy head of the Presidium of the Jerusalem Summit, an organisation which states that:

“The establishment of a Palestinian state must be removed from the political agenda”

The Jerusalem Summit calls for the deportation of all Palestinians from Gaza.

This is not an accidental association of Baroness Cox. She also is a key member of the Israeli Institute of Strategic Studies, which also calls prominently for the ethnic cleansing of all Palestinians from Gaza:

“The only durable solution requires dismantling Gaza, humanitarian relocation of the non-belligerent Arab population, and extension of Israeli sovereignty over the region.”

This is not an issue of freedom of speech. Genocide is in process in Gaza today. To support genocide is not a legitimate academic position within the realm of free debate. Dundee University must end its honouring of Baroness Cox, or be seen as endorsing the legitimacy of her views, which all decent people find obnoxious.

Caroline Cox is a member of a Franciscan third order (probably this Anglican one – see also here.

Her late hubby was the consultant psychotherapist at Broadmoor for many years, specialising in forensic psychiatry – a favourite subject in e.g. the Intelligence Corps at Ashford.

PTSD and the IDF. Are there more sociopaths in the IDF than other forces?

“The study compared research into PTSD in IDF soldiers to similar research done in other countries. Less than five percent of the soldiers who fought in the Second Lebanon War and in Operation Cast Lead in Gaza showed signs of post-traumatic stress, researchers found.”

Some historic examples of BBC bias and inaccuracy relevant to Palestine. The one that gets me is the use of the word ‘militant’ for those Palestinians resisting the Occupation. Israel has ‘soldiers’ or ‘military’.

    BBC News, 14 November 2012
    Complaint
The programme included a studio interview with Jonathan Sacerdoti about recent Israeli actions in Gaza. Two viewers complained that he had not been identified as a pro-Israeli speaker, which was misleading and resulted in bias.

    Outcome
Mr Sacerdoti was introduced as the Director of the Institute for Middle Eastern Democracy, and it was not made clear that he is an active proponent of the Israeli viewpoint. What he said in the course of the interview was a legitimate expression of that viewpoint, and his appearance in the programme was in keeping with the requirements of due impartiality. However, as a matter of due accuracy, viewers should have been made aware that he was not a neutral commentator.

    Partly upheld

    Further action
The production team have been reminded of the importance of clearly summarising the standpoint of any interviewee where it is relevant and not immediately clear from their position or the title of their organisation.

Gaza militants launch missiles at Tel Aviv in 1st rocket attack on Israeli capital since 1991 Gulf War http://bbc.in/QJkWK7 , BBC News, 15 November 2012

    Complaint
This was a tweet posted to draw attention to an online article. A reader complained that it referred to Tel Aviv as the capital of Israel.

    Outcome
The ECU agreed that this was inaccurate (the inaccuracy was not repeated in the article itself) but found that the correction and apology already made by BBC News was sufficient to resolve the issue.
    Resolved

    Newsnight, BBC2, 15 January 2013
    Complaint
Two viewers complained that a report on the Negev desert gave the inaccurate impression that Israel occupied only part of the West Bank.
    Outcome
The introduction to the report included the sentence “Israeli soldiers shot dead a 17 year old Palestinian youth today near the barrier which separates West Bank towns and villages from areas occupied by Israel”, which tended to give the impression complained of. However, as the complaint had elicited an unequivocal acknowledgement and apology at the first stage of the BBC’s complaints process, and as the inaccuracy was not of such magnitude as to require broadcast correction, the ECU took the view that the issue had been resolved.

There’s been a lot of talk in media about recruitment of Americans and Brits by Islamists. What about exporting killers to Israel from Europe?

    http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article39287.htm

“Consider this: While British citizens fighting against the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad are being detained and persecuted, British citizens who are fighting for Israel are not. The British government is turning a blind eye to what should be considered a criminal act.

    Belgium Double-standards

Western hypocrisy on this is as profound as the phenomenon of westerners killing Palestinians, which some are now calling ‘Israeli Jihadists’.

Belgium also stands accused of allowing such criminality. Although Belgian civil society is one of Palestine’s strongest supporters, their government is cloaked with unmistakable dishonesty. Many Belgian citizens are also taking part in Israel’s lethal wars in Gaza and military occupation of the occupied territory, with little or no protest from their government. The recruitment of Belgians is mostly done through the same organisations that recruited thousands of foreign fighters for the IDF. Think of them as terrorist headhunting organisations that operate in a perfectly legal environment.

On July 29, in an interview with UK Channel 4, former Israeli ambassador to Washington, Michael Oren, called Gaza-ruling Islamic resistance: “a vicious, medieval, racist, genocidal organization”. One has to excuse Oren for his rubbish Talmudic belief.

The truth of the matter is Hamas has always successfully resisted world’s fourth most powerful and brutal army based on it moral superiority. While Washington and most of European capitals have designated Hamas as a “terrorist organization”, it has won the hearts of the public around the world by showing their condemnation of the Zionist entity through mass protests in almost every 193 world nation-states including the Zionist-occupied western nations.

To return to the original post…

I’m indebted to Craig Murray for drawing attention to clearly expressed opinions of Baroness Cox, and I’m rather horrified by her support for the analysis offered on the Jerusalem Summit website.

But, hey, there’s no point in expressing indignation here, where so many agree, except to make us feel good about ourselves. Far better to email Dundee University – [email protected] – to enquire whether her honorary degree in any way implies Dundee’s endorsement of her views, and whether the University was aware of her views before proceeding to award her an honorary degree.

I myself have already done so.

    From Mary’s link

Jonathan Arkush, vice-president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, told Mailonline that the stunt was “offensive to the British public.”

He called the PSC an “irrelevant and extremist” pressure group “motivated by hatred of Israel.”

“We don’t need to import conflicts in the Middle East to this country. We should instead be exporting values and efforts designed to bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict,” he added.

Although sending the young Jews filled with piss and wind to fight the good war over there in the occupied Palestine is a British value! Will the relevant SIS branch follow up and keep under surveillance those British Nationals who have been fighting for Isreal?

    =============

I think it is indeed a good example. By extension, the person being mugged comes potentially to an agreement which they feel is wrong. But ultimately in the wider prospect of existence they agree. My point is that external observers telling everyone what is right and wrong for two parties to decide can only unnaturally perverse the possibility of a solution. …. If they get killed as a result of following your self-determined instructions will you blame them or yourself?

That depends on which side of the equation you may find yourself in?

The Mugger naturally has a sense of entitlement to others goods, and this perverse and skewed sense of morality then will have difficulties in the way of understanding why his victims choose to fight off their Mugger?

This fact then is reflected in the Mugger’s apportioning blame onto bystanders whom the Mugger perceives to be the source of resistance to his right to mug!

Having established the fact that zionist fascists have little understanding of the international conventions, laws, and moral treaties, it is with little surprise to find the above statement made, in such a sanguine fashion about the Palestinians whom are expected to be obliging and to accept the superior fire power as the de facto decider. Thus leave their lands and claims to their lands. This solipsist mode of thought cannot digest that the indomitable human spirit is above all the decider, as the zionist forces are finding out much to their chagrin in Gaza.

From one of Not A Baroness’s links, it all comes back about Cox. She invited the racist anti-Muslim Geert Wilders to come to show his revolting Fitna film at the House of Lords.

She is obsessed, dangerous and an interfering fanatic. An English version of Sarah Palin.

    This in the Mail 2011.

    Shameful surrender to Sharia law
Anyone genuinely motivated to protect human freedom should wish Baroness Cox well in her campaign against Sharia law.
There are now 85 Sharia councils operating in Britain and, although they have no jurisdictional powers and should sit only in an advisory capacity, their influence is growing.
Caroline Cox believes many Muslim women are fooled into believing Sharia courts have official power.
‘If women are happy with Sharia principles and are satisfied with it, then that’s that,’ she explains. ‘But if retrospectively they say, “Hey, I suddenly realised there is a legal system out there that doesn’t discriminate against me and I would like the ruling to be reconsidered”, it could be reconsidered and overruled in a civil court.’
The reason just about every Sharia ruling involving a woman could, and should, be undone is because under Sharia law a woman’s testimony is worth half that of any man, contravening just about every line of equality legislation ever written.

And we’ve allowed 85 of these kangaroo courts to spring up around Britain, which is the real scandal.’

    TIMES of ISRAEL
    Friday August 1st 2014
    When Genocide is Permissible
    Yochanan Gordon
Yochanan’s father founded the Five Towns Jewish Times.

Judging by the numbers of casualties on both sides in this almost
one-month old war one would be
led to the conclusion that Israel has resorted to disproportionate means
    in fighting a far less-capable
enemy. That is as far as what meets the eye. But, it’s now obvious that
the US and the UN are
completely out of touch with the nature of this foe and are therefore
    not qualified to dictate or
enforce the rules of this war – because when it comes to terror there is
    much more than meets the
    eye.
I wasn’t aware of this, but it seems that the nature of warfare has
undergone a major shift over the
years. Where wars were usually waged to defeat the opposing side, today
it seems – and judging by
the number of foul calls it would indicate – that today’s wars are
fought to a draw. I mean, whoever
heard of a timeout in war? An NBA Basketball game allows six timeouts
    for each team during the
course of a game, but last I checked this is a war! We are at war with
    an enemy whose charter calls
for the annihilation of our people. Nothing, then, can be considered
    disproportionate when we are
fighting for our very right to live.
The sad reality is that Israel gets it, but its hands are being tied by
world leaders who over the past
six years have insisted they are such good friends with the Jewish
    state, that they know more
regarding its interests than even they do. But there’s going to have to
come a time where Israel feels
threatened enough where it has no other choice but to defy international
    warnings – because this is
    life or death.
Most of the reports coming from Gazan officials and leaders since the
    start of this operation have
been either largely exaggerated or patently false. The truth is, it’s
    not their fault, falsehood and
deceit is part of the very fabric of who they are and that will never
    change. Still however, despite
their propensity to lie, when your enemy tells you that they are bent on
    your destruction you believe
them. Similarly, when Khaled Meshal declares that no physical damage to
    Gaza will dampen their
morale or weaken their resolve – they have to be believed. Our sage
    Gedalia the son of Achikam
was given intelligence that Yishmael Ben Nesanyah was plotting to kill
    him. However, in his piety
or rather naiveté Gedalia dismissed the report as a random act of gossip
and paid no attention to it.
To this day, the day following Rosh Hashana is commemorated as a fast
    day in the memory of
Gedalia who was killed in cold blood on the second day of Rosh Hashana
    during the meal. They say
the definition of insanity is repeating the same mistakes over and over.
History is there to teach us
lessons and the lesson here is that when your enemy swears to destroy
you – you take him seriously.
Hamas has stated forthrightly that it idealizes death as much as Israel
    celebrates life. What other
way then is there to deal with an enemy of this nature other than
    obliterate them completely?
News anchors such as those from CNN, BBC and Al-Jazeera have not missed
    an opportunity to
point out the majority of innocent civilians who have lost their lives
as a result of this war. But
anyone who lives with rocket launchers installed or terror tunnels
    burrowed in or around the
vicinity of their home cannot be considered an innocent civilian. If
    you’ll counter, that Hamas has
been seen abusing civilians who have attempted to leave their homes in
    response to Israeli warnings
to leave – well then, your beginning to come to terms with the nature of
    this enemy which should
automatically cause the rules of standard warfare to be suspended.
Everyone agrees that Israel has the right to defend itself as well as
the right to exercise that right.
Secretary General Ban Ki Moon has declared it, Obama and Kerry have
    clearly stated that no one
could be expected to sit idle as thousands of rockets rain down on the
    heads of its citizens, placing
them in clear and present danger. It seems then that the only point of
    contention is regarding the
measure of punishment meted out in this situation.
I will conclude with a question for all the humanitarians out there.
    Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu clearly stated at the outset of this incursion that his
objective is to restore a sustainable
quiet for the citizens of Israel. We have already established that it is
    the responsibility of every
government to ensure the safety and security of its people. If political
    leaders and military experts
determine that the only way to achieve its goal of sustaining quiet is
    through genocide is it then
permissible to achieve those responsible goals?

Off topic but this year’s ECJ ruling on the removal of individual data in the case of Google Spain SL V Agencis Espanola de Proteccion de Datos has an intriguing consequence in that it treated Google as if it were the sort of data controller who has day to day control over sites and content to which it links such that Google may now appear required to check that the information it links to is accurate, fair and not excessive.

The Situation in the Gaza Strip

    Press Statement
    John Kerry
    Secretary of State
    Washington, DC
    August 1, 2014

The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms today’s attack, which led to the killing of two Israeli soldiers and the apparent abduction of another. It was an outrageous violation of the cease-fire negotiated over the past several days, and of the assurances given to the United States and the United Nations.

Hamas, which has security control over the Gaza Strip, must immediately and unconditionally release the missing Israeli soldier, and I call on those with influence over Hamas to reinforce this message.

After the horrific loss of life in this attack and its aftermath, it would be a tragedy if this outrageous attack leads to more suffering and loss of life on both sides of this conflict. I have been in close touch with Prime Minister Netanyahu, with UN Special Coordinator Robert Serry and with other regional partners. The international community must now redouble its efforts to end the tunnel and rocket attacks by Hamas terrorists on Israel and the suffering and loss of civilian life.

    LINK :
