Freedom Cheaper than Iraq War 764

A particularly mendacious lie by Danny Alexander puts the institutional start-up costs of Scottish Independence at £1.5 billion.  That is a cool half billion pounds cheaper than Scotland’s share of the costs of the Iraq and Afghan wars, even on the Westminster government’s blatant under-estimate of the war costs.

So Scotland can afford criminal invasions killing hundreds of thousands to ‘bring freedom’, but cannot afford the smaller cost of its own freedom!!!

The £1.5 billion estimate is mendacious in two ways.  Firstly, it is a simple recycling of a Canadian lie at the time of the Quebec independence referendum, apportioning with no argument 1% of GDP to startup costs.

Secondly, as nearly all the money will be spent in Scotland it is not a loss at all, but actually an increase to GDP, as any but the most nutty neo-con would be forced to acknowledge.  And it would be the precursor of government money spent annually in Scotland rather than England for ever thereafter.

Thankfully Alexander won’t have a job much longer – and if he thinks a penny of Scottish public spending is going in future to support his huge arse and deceitful mouth, he is very wrong.

I think if I have any children, I’ll have qualified doctors remove any unnecessary fleshy pieces about their faces. Ear lobes can go, obviously. There’s probably much of the nose that isn’t really necessary. The children would be too young to choose, but there could be advantages so I will choose for them.

Or if I was in charge I could write a book, claim it’s by God and get my followers to do it to their kids.

All looks perfectly morally sound to me. Not the slightest bit nutty; we see this sort of behaviour throughout the animal and vegetable realms.

“…you use the topic to deliver what you believe to be a swift kick against the Jews.”

    Misquoting is your speciality Habbabkuk.

    I wrote:

“Let’s protect all children from adult abuse including the male genital mutilation conventional within the MUSLIM AND Jewish religions.”

    No pain medication is used:

“Rabbi Shmuel Goldin, president of the Rabbinical Council of America, said circumcisions done for religious purposes did not typically involve pain medication…”

It has to be done because it’s in the Scriptures:

“For us, it is such a critical component of our religious life that an attempt to eradicate it is an attempt to eradicate our religion.”

    Also:

“In some Jewish communities (including in the US) the person trained in the practice of circumcision (a mohel) sucks the male baby’s penis after the foreskin has been cut and removed.”

“To me this is not only a deliberate wounding of a child but also sexual abuse.”

“There is no justification for allowing these practices to continue on religious or cultural grounds in any country. No one has the right to damage a child.”

This man is a danger. One thing I want people who have criticised the pro-Russians and praised this government of fascist thugs funded by the west is how much better everything was in the days of Yanukovich. Another US failed state.

Surely people like RD cannot condone this killing of innocents by their own government! Can they?

Blair, having spent part of Monday haranguing the CBI on the need for Blair-style reform of the EU, is now putatively off on his travels again…G-CEYL was airborne yesterday. Further details when I can find them, but took off, probably from Farnborough, @ 1435. Anyone know who the lucky host might be?

I think I’ll have all my children’s teeth pulled out. They’re my children, so I have to choose on their behalf. Teeth cause a lot of trouble, pain and expense over time, and they fall out eventually so it’s best to get it over with, but you can’t expect children to understand that. In an infinite universe everything arises, so there must be a god somewhere who’ll be delighted.

  • Jay

    @ Clark

I hope you have children Clark because I hand no doubt you would be a mighty fine parent, and you already you make a perfect role model and guide for children.

Another porky from Blair. He is listed as a “university professor” by his agent, the Washington Speaker’s Bureau:

    http://www.washingtonspeakers.com/speakers/speaker.cfm?SpeakerID=4432&gotoTab=2

With his second class BA from Oxford (automatically (if you’re Oxford) convertible after one year’s complete inaction into an MA), he is no such bloody thing, even allowing that ‘professor’ in the US may mean ‘senior lecturer’.

  • Clark

I suppose my children’s genital and urinary organs may have some parts that could be profitably removed, but I won’t have that done because of what people might think. It wouldn’t be so bad if everyone else was doing it.

  • Clark

Jay, 11:32 am; the world is full and the future looks ominous; I’ll probably give parenthood a miss this time. Compliment appreciated, though; thanks.

  • nevermind

My saying exactly. Why is Cameron dithering? why not have a refewrendum before the next GE? what has he got to loose? time for his pals to make new arrangements on how to claim vast sums from the EU?

All poll results point to a positive pro EU vote, at least the great unwashed know which side their bread is buttered on. Lets have the refewrendum now and watch UKIP tumble at the prospect of it.

Clark: teeth out. Get a grip man. At circumcision age they have no teeth. Then the milk teeth arrive (20) and eventually their proper gnashers (32). But I get your point. Circumcision is barbaric and so are the parents who want their boy childs to be mutilated in this way. In the days before alternative comedy there was a joke about the loving father who wanted to teach his son a lesson. So he stood the boy on the sixth rung of a ladder and told him to jump. The lad was scared and said “I’ll hurt myself.” “No you won’t. I’ll catch you.” The boy jumped and his father moved out of the way. “You said you’d catch me,” said the teary child. “And that will teach you to trust nobody, not even your own father.”

Circumcision, or male genital mutilation, is a bit like that. A child expects love and comfort from its parents. What it gets is agony and pain. It is a hard lesson for one so young who has never heard of Abraham.

  • Ba'al Zevul (You Have Entered An Incorrect Password)

To explain the subtext of the above – it’s currently becoming clear that Cameron has no intention of holding a referendum unless Juncker is appointed.

  • nevermind

I get all this, Ba’al, but he can get his cake and eat it, i.e. havre this referendum and if its going the EU way, he can say see I told you so, its the best option for Britain.
If the vote goes against he can say exactly the same to Mr. juncker, the ex taxhaven procurator general, can he not?

Stephen Dorrell is stepping down as chair of the Health Select Committee. He wants to spend more time with the partei! The truth of the matter is probably that he cannot sit there listening to more and more on the effects of the dismantling of OUR NHS.

I think the problem lies with the Tories, many of whom are frightened that they will lose their access to the trough because of UKIP. Cameron doesn’t think he can keep them on side. So it’s hey, ho, trim the sail and prepare to go about; he may not be able to rig an election to make it look as if the UK public wants to be in Europe and in any case the UK public don’t matter. And he may well lose the next election whatever he does….

Though I admit it’s hard to guess what’s going on, and that’s just what it looks like from here.

Mary the Muslim, you are welcome to take as many swipes at Tony Abbott as you like but don’t fool yourself into thinking that I give a shit. I didn’t vote for this fuckwit.

It’s about time for another of those daily reports of Israeli atrocities. Picked at random. One day is very much like another for the Palestinians on the receiving end.

Zionism in practice – Israel’s Daily Toll on Palestinian Life, Limb, Liberty and Property
    24 hours to 8am
    01 June 2014

    3 attacks – 16 raids including home invasions – 2 beaten – 14 injured – 3 acts of agricultural/economic sabotage – 15 taken prisoner – 8 detained – 108 restrictions of movement

Israeli Army armed incursions – crops bulldozed in 2 Gaza farming areas

Israeli Army opens fire on East Khan Yunis farmland

Dawn home invasion: Israeli troops assault wife, husband and son

Youngsters and women injured in Israeli Army raid

Refugee children beaten and injured by Israeli soldiers

Two 15-year-old boys among the injured in Israeli Army raid

Night peace disruption and/or home invasions in refugee camp and 7 towns and villages

    ~~

Can appear banal just reading the words but imagine being one of the recipients, especially the children.

Clark is correct. Circumcision is practiced widely for cosmetic purposes. Parents don’t want the child to be different when it comes time for the first gym-wide shower.

  • KingofWelshNoir

Of course, the old Testament is full of great parenting advice, isn’t it? I particularly like the bit where God drowns the whole human race for being naughty.

  • Ben-LA PACQUTE LO ES TODO

    Deuteronomy 21:18-21 ESV

“If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they discipline him, will not listen to them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, and they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.”

Of course it’s not likely a toddler would be a drunkard. He must be talking about teenagers. Maybe they were on to something. 🙂

    Re the Great Circumcision Debate

John Goss has kindly provided us with scriptural authority for male circumcision (cf his contribution at 09h19).

Could anyone – perhaps you, Mr Scorgie? – point us in the direction of the text or texts that prescribe/authorize/encourage/justify female genital mutilation as practised by sundry Muslims (but not Jews)?

    Many thanks.

Circumcision is practiced widely for cosmetic purposes. Parents don’t want the child to be different when it comes time for the first gym-wide shower.

Also it used to be fairly standard for the Church of England at least. Great was the mirth in the school showers when contrasting roundheads and cavaliers. Wasn’t an exclusively Jewish or Muslim thing at all.

” But in country after country these days, the hallmarks of democracy are being dangerously subverted and co-opted by powerful elites. The question is, are we recognizing what is happening under our noses? Three examples unfolding right now are indicators of this trend: Thailand, Ukraine and Egypt.”

    http://www.alternet.org/world/how-wealthy-elites-are-hijacking-democracy-all-over-world

Since democratic labels are proliferating without genuine intent, and considering human-nature, we need a re-boot.
