I agree with what you say about the corruption and unethical behaviour of Westminster, some of which is because of the people, and some of which is built into the system.

However, Scotland has always been a good influence. It would also be “immoral” to leave England alone in such a system! Please don’t leave us to it.

(also, many political systems start well and go rotten. So please remember: the price of freedom is eternal vigilance – don’t lower your guard.)

  • Resident Dissident

Yet another example of the silly rhetoric that comes out in political campaigns. My advice would be to back pedal before it is too late.

Surely it is racist to infer that such a large proportion of Scottish people are immoral, even if you do believe that they are a minority. My guess is that you may be looking to dissolve the people and elect another on 19 September – especially if this is the quality of the invective we can expect in the next few days.

  • Kempe

” Surely it is racist to infer that such a large proportion of Scottish people are immoral, ”

Not just that but insults and intimidation are not the best ways of winning people over.

  • Resident Dissident

Yes you are Mary – please try and stay on topic and stop your diversionary tactics.

Be afraid; verry afraid. Hurry up Obama says Feinstein and House of Sod. Start the conflagration before anyone knows who is responsible for driving the IS herd to market.

    http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2014/08/30/ISIS-says-it-forces-abduct-pilots-to-train-fighters.html

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria said in a recent tweet it is forcing detained Syrian pilots to train militant fighters to fly stolen aircraft, CNN Arabic reported on Saturday.

In an account reportedly associated with the militant group, ISIS said in a tweet the pilots were abducted when the group gained control over the Tabqa military airbase in Raqqa Province.

ISIS seized the airbase earlier this month. The major airfield houses warplanes, helicopters, tanks and other artillery and ammunition, which were also confiscated by ISIS, according to several media reports.

Looks like complete nonsense Ben, the effect is to create an air of non-attributability to aerial bombing in the region, those pesky ISIS western-mercs have got planes now; the west now thinks it can bomb Baghdad, Damascus, Palestine, Lebanon, even Iran with impunity, with deniability. Softening us up to believe the incredible, unlikely and frankly insane fruits of their own – Obama/McCain and the US-neo-con and Zionist supremacists, and the Cameron/Miliband UK equivalent quislings – genocidal policies.

You’re right, “The Sun” is airing your views. Those in the Estalishment who have tried so hard to prevent this must be squirming. I hope that you get a fair hearing in every speech you make till the 18th (regardless of whether I agree with everything you say about the state of the UK’s morals, or whether the Union should stay together).

  • Tony M

It’s a fop from the Sun editor however, as while once-top dreary tabloid the Daily Record is at death’s door in terms of circulation and advertising, no other paper including the Sun has picked up sales, no one is buying them, a long-term trend I know, but recent dips have been precipitous and Scotland’s people are particularly averse to giving money to the Murdoch empire.

Over-whelmingly the press and the TV particularly, without exception is a farrago of unionist nonsense, absolutely skewed reporting, half-truths and the big big lies reinforced. Forever it has been royal fawning, apologia for warmongers, glorification of militarism, soap nobodies tedious on-screen antics and equally tedious real lives, and sport, without the reporting of which, no-one would care -pointless nothingness; now that has simply been stepped that up several notches, people think now of newspapers as they think of childhood comics: fantasy worlds they’ve outgrown, interesting only for a few moments of indulgent nostaligia. Newspaper being so useful around the house, delivering a sheaf of blank newspaper-sized pages to every household every so often, would eliminate the need for anyone to buy any newspaper at all.

The BBC too in Scotland has failed, its record is of nothingness, ever done or achieved, approximating any good, and whatever news and current affairs public broadcasting in future Scotland there will be, it can take almost nothing from the residue of this discredited institution. It has played an ill part in all of the UK in disinformation and propaganda, abusing and lieing to the people, uncoerced – but as true believers in their own malignant effusions.

“….’stop your diversionary tactics’….that’s rich coming from a troll.”
    _______________

And that, in turn, coming from one of the OTs (Original Trolls) is VERY rich!

  • Mary

I am not a troll and never will be a troll.

Something wrong with your memory of arriving on this blog a few years back and channelling me with your vile bullying? You made my life a misery but you did not succeed. I am still here and going strong! OTOH you are reviled.

  • Resident Dissident

“I am not a troll and never will be a troll.”

No, you just share many of their characteristics – go Google if you don’t believe me. Found any Jewish ancestors for Rona Fairhead yet?

  • Jemand

Princess Mary, believe me, you ARE a troll. You have all the attributes of a troll. You plug a single message ad nauseum, you provoke others, you refuse to justify your (badly cut-n-paste) “comments” and you enjoy support from some of the most hate-filled psychos to have ever visited this site. To paraphrase a fictional character who appeared far more intelligent than you, “A troll is as a troll does”. Hope that helps.

  • Mary

The gleesome threesome pile in. The typical action of trolls.

    PS I persecute nobody.

Here’s a poem I just sent round. Most here will appreciate the message but not the threesome.

    The Real Terrorists
    by Raji Abuzalaf / August 31st, 2014

What the Zionist-controlled media labels “terrorists”
I call “defenders of freedom fighting in desperation”
What the media calls “Israeli Defense Forces” and “U.S. Homeland Security”
I call “deception”, “fascism”, and “state terrorism”

The forces of evil that orchestrated the “holocaust”
Have perfected themselves in the Zionist movement
They prey on international guilt and sentiment
Whilst deviously taking control to undermine human rights

O irony of ironies! O wielders of paradox!
To speak out against Zionism is “anti-Semitic”
When Zionists are Eastern Europeans – hardly Semites
Yet they commit genocide on Palestinians – true Semites

The sad truth is that it all boils down to money and power
Build an Apartheid wall to house the Palestinian lab rats
To test chemical weapons and crowd control procedures
Then sell for large profits to international would-be fascists

It seems hopeless, but I’m counting on the American people
Long-time victims of false propaganda and manipulation
But people who treasure freedom won’t remain naïve or idle
In the end, they’ll identify the evil forces within

Our leaders have long sold out in perpetrating their war crimes
Misinformation and scare tactics rendered us complicit
Americans must realize we’ve been duped out of our ideals
Then watch out! The hammer of justice will come down severe

Raji (Roger) Abuzalaf is a Christian Palestinian (Haifa) refugee raised in Houston, now a long-term Honolulu resident and a U.S. citizen. He is a guitarist, singer, composer, and poet. Raji participates in local progressive/activist causes, at present co-producing pro-Palestine filmfare for Oahu’s main cable provider’s public-access TV network. Read other articles by Raji.

This follows on nicely from the theme of the poem.

Chief Rabbi Mirvis rallies the troops. They do not like the boycott of Israeli goods. They do not like any criticism of Israel or of its massacre in Gaza. All falsely interpreted as ‘anti Semitism’.

I expect the attack on Galloway has upset their apple cart.

‘Anti-Semitism is poisonous’: hundreds gather for rally against anti-Jewish attacks

MORE than 1,000 campaigners have taken to the steps of London’s Royal Courts of Justice today to demand “zero tolerance” of anti-Semitism in Britain.

    Pure chutzpah.

  • Resident Dissident

Please Mary – you can find much better poetry to support your cause if you bother to look.

  • david holden

hmm! unusual. it’s not often one can get a word in edgeways here. maybe it’s because the referenced covereage lurks behind some Murdochian paywall – it must contain information too precious to be divulged to ordinary citizens – a decision not to be challenged by me! – i know my place. i leave important matters of state to the power-elite who read the Sun and its tabloid stable-mate The Times Of London

however the sparse attendance here has been useful in pointing up very clearly some of the internal dynamics operative in Craig’s admirably lively comment community. as one with a fairly long British bloodline i find my sense of fair play sometimes interferes with the pleasure i should take at seeing three cynical bullies conspiring to carry out a verbal attack on one single representative of sincerity of feeling.

but Life is a great educator. and we are especially fortunate to be children of the Age of Nietzschean Chutzpah inaugurated by plucky little Israel, its even pluckier little trillionaire backers and their servile army of yet pluckier still little trolling-nobodies – the microhasbarat. for nobody is too small and insignificant to try and big themselves up by a spot of shilling for murder, lies and injustice. it not only takes courage, but i’d guess it is a constant stimulus to worthwhile mental exertion. it is particularly suitable work for those of an inherently contrarian cast of mind.

it should not be forgotten that the quality of trolling it can sustain on a regular basis is one of the more useful indices by which we may evaluate a social network. Habba and friends are doing a good job here. theirs is trolling of a high calibre, and the quality of their output is a credit not just to them, but also to Craig and the rest of the comment community.

    greetings to all

Excellent poem, chock full, brimming with truth. It has had a deep and meaningful effect on me, as a distillation and concentration encompassing all that assails and holds back mankind. Only let down by its fanciful expectation that America can right itself from this infiltration by these very Real Terrorists. Perhaps that part is prophecy, more power to the American people then, we’re with you all the way, more so once we’ve dealt with a little local problem of a related sort ourselves. Bravo Raji Abuzalaf.

  • Jemand

David Holden, look over your comment and re-read. Is everything you wrote NOT a filtered and then exaggerated rendition of the truth? Have you ever bothered to read the likes of Fedup, Passerby and Macky? Oh, you have? But you have an excuse for their bile, don’t you now? You’re like most hypocrites, calling out others and failing to look at yourself or those who commit the foul deeds for your preferred cause. Admit it Dave, dummies like YOU are a major part of the problem.

  • Abe Rene

I don’t like seeing bloggers ganging up on Mary. She is as entitled to her views as anyone else, including propagating Abuzalaf’s poem – whether or not one might agree with its contents.

Mary, take care and all the best!

re Fedup, Passerby and Macky, please note i’m not yet fully familiar with the dramatis personae here. i will look out for them, on your recommendation.

as a noob, and a mere bit-part player to boot, i’m grateful for any constructive criticism, so thank you for taking the trouble to offer your suggestions. i had hoped that my personal form of hypocrisy, the product of decades of careful working and reworking, might have acquired a few distinguishing features by now…another fond hope dashed to pieces! but i long ago learned that to accept such disillusionments with a good grace is a necessary precondition for the development of a healthy mental and emotional life…so once again it’ll be back, as they say, to the drawing board.

  • Macky

@David, I fear your satire is wasted on the Angry Aussie, as he is not as bright as he may lead others to believe, and definitely not as bright as he considers himself to be ! 😀

  • Resident Dissident

    @David Holden

What makes you think that only those who share your extremely narrow viewpoint are capable of sincerity of feeling?

If you want to accuse people of lying might I suggest you
    1. Present your evidence
    2. Do so in rather plainer English
    3. Reach a mental age associated with the correct use of capital letters.
    4. Don’t be flattered by Macky, he has no sense of humour and all he knows of satire is that his heroes lock people away for it.
