I used to think that Republicofscotland was just a nutter and mischief-maker- in fact, an outstanding candidate for admission to the Egregiousness of Excellences – but I’m not so sure any more.

Someone suggested some while back that Republicofscotland was a provocateur but I wasn’t entirely convinced. But now……

One of the characteristics of provocateurs* is that their “shock value” diminishes as people get accustomed to them. They therefore have to go ever further…and sooner or later over-reach themselves, thereby revealing their true function.

Consider, in this connection, the three posts in a row at 19h24, 19h38 and 19h56.
Notice the lashing-out, the heterogenous nature of his targets and the vulgarity of language, designed to shock.

But notice in particular the give-away, the moment of over-reach:

“Just as Stanely Kubrick filmed the fake moon landings, in a controlled environment,..”.

Now, RoS doesn’t for a moment really believe that the landings on the moon were faked. Hence his intention here must be to provoke, which could have several outcomes:
    – intelligent people like me and RD might waste time taking him to task
    – dummies like the Excellences could be set off on another of their ravings
    – the normal reader of this blog, who never comments, will probably have his impression that this blog is populated by lunatics reinforced; the reputation of the blog and Craig’s standing will be further damaged by association.

The only question is whether RoS is a lone provocateur or whether he’s doing it on behalf of someone.

No you haven’t, Komodo. Stop pretending.

O yes I have. Should I need to refresh my memory of its intentionally nasty and obsessive interjections, I haven’t blocked you -you’re not worth the minimal effort – and I can look at your largely unsuccessful attempts at your mentor’s obnoxious style.

Appropriately, Her Maj and the Old Lizard appeared in the Antiques Roadshow. Ms Bruce (of the phenomenal BBC salary) and the experts were bowing and scraping as various artefacts were discussed.

It turned out that Her Maj’s aunt, Lady Maitland, lived in Hillsborough Castle where the programme was made.

It is classified as yet another royal palace.

    Make up your mind Ba’al.

The four threads that Craig has posted today, plus earlier ones, are littered with their posts. The contribution is virtually nil apart from your discussion with RD.

To divert and distract is the aim. Others notice it too and are saying so.

PS Why do you have Habbabreak?

  • Anon1

Komodo, considering that you have a fairly high opinion of yourself I doubt very much that you would last five minutes without wanting to know what’s been written about you. But don’t worry, that’s human nature, and no one else uses your software either.

  • Ba'al Zevul (For Scotland)

To divert and distract is the aim. Others notice it too and are saying so.

Exactly. I have also said so, but you don’t read my posts. The technique, probably the object of the game, is for the troll to goad a commentator into responding off-topic. I’ve just played a round with Anon. He got a point for it, too. Just one, once in a while, is forgivable, I suggest.

PS Why do you have Habbabreak?

Because Havvacluck is very good at winding people up, completely obsessed with doing so, trolls incessantly, and what I don’t see I can’t get exercised about. Takes two to disrupt a thread. Get Habbabreak. Or keep taking the bait again and again, world without end.

Now I’ve just played a round with you.

    Back to the topic, then.

    “Resident Dissident”
Why do you object to the phrase “northern British unionists”. That is exactly what you are. If you are a Scot your vote will show if a long English programme of passification and domestication has succeeded. As visitors you are welcome but don’t interfere with your hosts decisions.
Millions of English would die rather than let their Country be led by another. Why do you think Scots should like to be looked after by England in effect. There is a spirit and strength in self reliance.
We are now dealing with the soul of a nation. This is sacred to most people. We are not talking of grubby money.

  • Peacewisher

@Brian: A couple of years ago, Tommy Sheridan was harshly treated, and charged with perjury. He looks completely rejuvenated, and has a very positive message.

  • Resident Dissident

Why do you object to the phrase “northern British unionists”.

I don’t – just as I don’t believe in subjecting to anyone to passification and domestication, and unlike you I am able to respect their decision if they decide differently from myself, which is of course why I objected to your anti-democratic sentiment. As for the soul of a nation – I think you will find that much of what is now Scotland belonged to Nothumbria before it was taken over by the Picts – nations come and go it is people who have souls, even if your believe that it is only the select few who do. Where people come from is of less relevance to me than how they thrink and behave.

  • david coventry

@Republicofscotland: Well said and very comprehensible.

@Boindub: Great post, and a great list of human attributes worth living, and dying, for.

@Resident Dissident: Of course they are universal. The point is the Scottish have a chance to make sure their new ‘government’ upholds them a little, if they get independence. Trying to make that happen in a Britain beholden to greed is a mountain too high to climb.

@ Ba’al Zevul: Thanks for the heads-up, but please tell me how you block unwanted posters. Thanks a lot.

All the best to the Scottish next Thursday – I’m with you in spirit, though I can’t vote (English, not living in Scotland)!

That Jim Sillars interview is dynamite. The Yes Campaign should play it on every street corner; it answers ALL the niggling doubts the Undecideds might have.

Good luck on the stump, Craig.

We might be bombing Syria by Thursday. Back in the saddle, serving our master’s agenda.

It’s time to choose a different way, for those able to make the choice.

Twenty years down the line we might be looking at the Republic of North Britain…

Erm, you could scroll past? You know, maybe not read them?

  • Peacewisher

@Mike: If we are bombing Syria by Thursday, it’ll show that Cameron has given up on a “No” vote.

I don’t think so, somehow. There just isn’t the public will to use force in Syria. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t get challenged at his party conference if he dares to do it.

But you never know… he may think he’s under the protection of the neocons.

  • Fedup

and no one else uses your software either.

Is this third eye kind of thing a “chosen” thing too? There is a constant stream of what people do, or don’t do, what the think, what they use, etc. that is shoved forth, is this some kind of comfort affirmation for the relevant “chosen” batch of the keyboard warriors?

  • Resident Dissident

“Trying to make that happen in a Britain beholden to greed is a mountain too high to climb.”

But it is a mountain that we must climb – and I suspect it will be all the steeper without the help of our Scottish colleagues.

    David Coventry :

    1. Get Firefox
    2. Go here: https://greasyfork.org/scripts/246-habbabreak
    3. Follow the simple instructions: installation is absolutely straightforward, whether Windoze or Linux. It won’t harm your computer.

If successful, you will see ‘Habbabreak Options’ at the top right of this page. Click and consider who you would destroy.

    Grateful acknowledgements to Afrend (indeed).

Call me old fashioned, but is all this effort really necessary when you could just avoid reading posts you don’t like by … not reading them? Have you no self-control?

“Call me old fashioned, but is all this effort really necessary when you could just avoid reading posters you don’t like by … not reading them?”

Don’t be silly, how would you be able to tell people you’ve blocked them then. No point in ignoring somebody if nobody knows you’re ignoring them, the point is to make yourself seem superior, you have to be able to keep reminding people of it at least once a day.

  • Fedup

    X2 that is.

As Agent Cameron is busy pushing yet another war, that is a war with in a war on Syria. Despite their best efforts to topple Assad, it seems the carpetbaggers having failed are now looking for pretexts to ramp up the tonnage of the bombs raining on Syria.

This is of course to stop iSIS/iSIL/iS or whatever it is called as of tomorrow. Evidently the current lot of James Bonds have not been telling Agent Cameron that the easiest way to stop iWhateverItIsCalledNow from training in Jordan, and no longer arm, and money them! Simple as 123, but evidently that is not an acceptable solution. Leaving the only other solution to be; bomb, bomb, bomb Syria!

Pathetic bunch of crooks and liars, busy selling another war, at the cost to some poor sod going about earning a quid to keep away the greedy money lenders and financial wolves from his door.

Whay sort of sad, wrung out excuse for a human being spends their time online, whether for reward or patronage, crawling on their belly, sugar-coating and excusing the hideous oligarchy of the ‘British’ elite and their neo-imperialistic obsessions, fly-men selling the skewed narratives and dead-end preferred talking points of the obscenely rich and the unmerited, irresponsible incompetent but counter-intuitively, powerful few. We can do so much better than this, we’re ruled by utter clots, self-serving greedy imbeciles, living in an out-of-touch unreality of uninterruptible privilege, sending their minions in droves of online personas, to swear everything is just peachy, when all that is trickling down is warm pish.

Tommy Sheridan put it well, this is not about the millionaires, but about the many millons -the people, the put-upon, struggling people, who calmly, meditatively, after long determination, patiently and with inner-pleasure, the old and the wise, and the newly enlightened, will deliver the final verdict on lifetimes of Labour and Tory misrule, on their mutual multi-party pact for exploitation of our people and our resources for private gain and socialisation of the human and enviromental costs and consequences of their greed and their repulsive creed, its sacred doctrine Thatcherism ever more hallelujah, and its greatest achievement the eviscerated corpse that was the Labour Party, stitched up like Frankenstein’s monster. In short the destruction of even the illusion of democracy, a true one-party state. Their unity never more apparent than in their increasingly desperately joint attempts to crush democracy’s invincible resurgence in Scotland.

It will not be just in Scotland, where change, exciting change is an unstoppable force, focused on not just imagining a better country, but on making it happen, after the banners and flags are packed away lovingly, from Thursday’s referendum, through a new constitution, down to the final declaration of Independence, and the election of our first wholly independent government when we we will, for the first time, actually have chosen our best team, and who we can then swiftly, if necessary, unseat if there’s a whiff of anything other than open-ness, equality, duty and public service, government too, that doesn’t just sample opinion amongst a bubble of conformity, but takes issues to the people for them to decide for themselves. The life-enhancing force of democracy, in the countries of and amongst the peoples of Britain, is at long last, truly at large. With it we will flourish and excel, free of the tyranny of centuries of solidified concentrated malign power of Westminster, the place where democracy is daily tortured and almost done to death.

    Great day yesterday.
Watched the thousands protesting outside the BBC studio’s in Glasgow, drummers, people dancing, singing and generally causing the establishment great discomfort.
The BBC said there were 300.There were 4,500 alone watching it online.Messages of support coming from all over the planet.
Then there was the live concert from the Usher Hall.Great Scottish bands, and a newcomer for me.”Stanley Odd”. The last song of their set was written for the rapper’s son to explain his Yes vote.
